SQL sent to database in obiee 10g

Hi,
I am unable to see the SQL Query sent to Database in log file. Ony able to logical query. I have logged inwith Administrator and checked th eloglevel is 5.
How can I see the general sql query which was sent to database.
Thanks

Hi Srini,
Thanks for the reply.
I have cleared the cache in admintool (purge) and tried generating the report. In advanced tab also I have selected the option "Bypass Oracle BI Presentation Services Cache". It seems its because of Cache, able to see the databse query now.
Could you please explain how can I do this.
This would be with no other changes or use set variable disable_cache_hit=1;
How can I see the database query always.
Thanks.

I wanted the full procedure or steps to Migrate the MS SQL Server 2005 database to Oracle 10g. Is there a known procedure to do this or is there a tool which is used?
I have not done migration of database from MS SQL Server to Oracle. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot for the time.

  • Genuine SQL sent to database

    Hi,
I'm new with ODI and I'm using a lot of variables, when I run the interface or a package the Operator tool only show me the "logic" SQL (with all the variable names), It's possible to see the exactly SQL sent to database, with all the content of the variables?? I need to debug the query and I can't!
    Thank you!

    the "genuine SQL"
if you open operator and click on the execution of you rsceneria/package and expand out the steps. if you expand the step to then see the task(s) below the step then if you double click the task and select the "Description" tab you will see the sql associated with the task however there are still "odi variables" in the code you will have to look at and expand the "variables" section the first step after the packages or scenario execution icon.
just watch out as the actual values may change in the package and hence you only see the last value assigned to the variable.
ps you should also set the logging level to atleast 3 to 5
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I install OBIEE 10g and 11g on the same machine?

While I'm waiting for new hardware, I wanted to get started on installing OBIEE 11g on my laptop. Can I do this if I already have 10g installed?
I want to make sure if I install it that it will not impact my current 10g setup. I'm not sure if it overrides certain files and folders or if I can do a separate installation to have both.

    Hello everyone.
I have OBIEE 10g on my Production box pointing to the Oracle Database 11g R1 which is also having OWB integrated in it.
Now, I am planning to upgrade OBIEE 10g to 11g and Oracle Database from 11g R1 to 11g R2, so that OWB will also be upgarded, as it is integrated in 11gR2.
I am confused about, how to run RCU on the database, as OBIEE 10g schemas and packages will already be there in the database.
If I run RCU again, what will it do???
Has anyone done this before? or any good document available ?
    Many Thanks,
    Ahsan.

  • Filter on the reports created using DIRECT DATABASE ACCESS in obiee 10g

How do i filter on the report that is created by using DIRECT DATABASE ACCESS in obiee 10g?
I have reprot A with link to report B, report B is created using DIRECT DATABASE ACCESS. so it is just a table, but i need to filter out 2 columns.
here is the query in REPORT B:
    select strm, acad_group, crse_id, class_section, count(emplid) from v_crse_enrl
    group by crse_id, strm, class_section, acad_group;
    the link in REPORT A:
    '<a target="_blank" href="'||VALUEOF("bi_link")||'Go&Path=CF_CROSS_TEACHING_LIST&ACTION=Navigate&col1=STRM&val1='||view1_DIMEN.STRM||'&col2=CLASS_SECTION&val2='||TRIM(view1_DIMEN.CLASS_SECTION)||'">' ||view1_dimen.class_id||'</a>'
from this link to report B.
    thank you!!

I didnt tested using url, but the same works with using presentation variables.
To your direct sql add where clause for those two columns like WHERE col='@{col1}' and col ='@{col2}'
and try to run from url.
    let me know updates

  • OBIEE 10G Direct Database Request

    Hey Everybody,
I'm on OBIEE 10G in a solaris environment and I'm connected to Oracle 11.2 database. I'm having trouble getting the correct dataset returned from a Direct Database Request from a dashboard that users input data. I have the dashboard created and have all the dashboard prompts setup as prestentation variables. My DDR sql looks like this:
    Select from table where Batch_ID = '11' and PID = '1234' and Reported_Date = '01011900'*
My issue is that I want the Reported Date dashboard prompt to be a optional field that user do not have to enter on the dashboard. However, if a user doesn't enter a value on the dashboard then an error is thrown because the DDR sql is expecting a value for the Reported Date.
I've tried to enter the OBIEE standard "%" as an all choices option in the database and changed the DDR sql to look like this:
    Select from table where Batch_ID = '11' and PID = '1234' and Reported_Date like '%'*
However, this throws an error saying an unidentified characters has been used even though if I run this above sql query directly against the database myself it gives back the wanted dataset.
Anybody ever ran across this situation before?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Here is the code I used as my DDR. When I leave the @reported_date prompt empty it doesn't return anything. Thanks.

  • [NQQuery log]: Physical SQL generated agaisnt 2 Database in OBIEE 11g

    Hi Experts,
I have a problem regarding the physical SQL generated by Query log.
    So this is the setup.
    SCENARIO 1:
    Oracle Data Warehouse DB
    - col1
    - col2
    - col3
    OLAP_OBIEE
    - col4
When I run these columns together in Analysis. It seems like the physical SQL generated in the Query log is partitioned with each other and I cant get the exact SQL so I can make comparison with the total record count in Analysis UI and the SQL developer.
select col1, col2, col3 from Oracle Data Warehouse tables
    select col4 from OLAP_OBIEE tables
    ================================================================
    SCENARIO 2:
    Oracle Data Warehouse DB
    - col1
    - col2
    - col3
    - col4
Running these columns together in Analysis. I am wondering why the physical SQL is somewhat also partitioned just like in SCENARIO 1.
select col1, col2, col3 from Oracle Data Warehouse tables
select col4 from Oracle Data Warehouse tables
Hope that you get what am I trying to say. :(
    Thanks,

Sorry for the confusion, in my Analysis report, I have a report where it generates 2 physical SQL in one Database, also I have a report where it uses 2 Database which also generates 2 physical SQL.

  • Connecting SQL Analysis Services 2005 cube with obiee 10g

    Hello experts,
I'm trying to link an SQL Analysis Services 2005 cube with obiee 10g.
In Oracle BI Administration, when I choose File -> Import -> From
Multi-dimensional, I have to fill the next gaps:
    Provider Type: Analysis Services 2005
    URL: ***********
    User: blank
    Password: blank
Before to do that, I need to create the URL path.
To create the URL, I have followed this link.
    http://erpthings.blogspot.com/2008/08/obiee-connection-to-msas-2005-
    cube.html
But, it hasn't worked because when I was trying to configure the HTTP
access to SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, we have to perform a test to ensure that it has been well configured. In IIS -> WebSites -> Default WebSites -> olap, we should browse the document called "msmdpump.dll" and this should show an xml document, but it doesn't.
    Thanks!

    Hi Alex
It sounds like your MS data pump might not be configured correctly. First ensure that is working before trying to put the values into OBIEE. Don't worry about the 500 error - I get that too instead of an XML page.
You can read a bit more about SSAS support on my blog here:

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 10g; Designer, PL/SQL; Download

    Hi,
I am new to this forum, I hope that I am posting in the right one :)
I am refreshing my SQL knowledge an installed the "Oracle Database Express Edition 10g Release 2 (10.2)" which works fine. I now would like to learn PL/SQL and Oracle Designer.
Are these 2 also offered as a free download for personal use? Since the Oracle website is pretty complex I am not sure what I should download.
Can I run these programs on one WinXP Home machine?
    Thanks for your help!

Designer is not free like Express Edition. You cannot use it for any commericial purpose without a licence.
Designer is a big tool. I don't know why it shouldn't run against XE but it is a tough blighter to configure and install. It is also a moribund product, so the answer to this question:
Is there a newer Designer version available?is likely to be "No" whenever you ask it.
    Cheers, APC

  • OBIEE 10g repository - Business model - logical table to physical table, column mapping is empty

Hi, I am really new to OBIEE 10g.
I already set up a SQL Server 2005 database in Physical and import a view vw_Dim_retail_branch.
    The view has 3 columns: branch_id, branch_code, branch_desc.
Now I want to set up the Business model to map this physical table (view).
I created a new Business model
    Added new logical table Dim_retail_branch
In the sources, added the vw_Dim_retail_branch as source table.
But in the Logical table source window,  column mapping tab, it's blank. I thought it should be able to identify all the columns from vw_Dim_retail_branch, but not. The show mapped columns is ticked.
What should I do here? Manually type each column?

    HI,
Just you can drag and drop the columns from physical layer to BMM layer.
Select the 3 columns and drag and drop it to the created logical column in BMM layer.

  • Physical Query in OBIEE 10g vs OBIEE 11g

    Hi Everyone,
We're in the middle of an OBIEE 10g to an OBIEE 11.1.1.6.4 upgrade and as part of our assembly testing we were planning on comparing the physical query generated for a report generated in obiee 10g vs the physical query for a report in obiee 11g.
After a couple reports we noticed that the query structure in 11g is completely different than the query structure in 10g. The reports still generated the same data in 10g vs 11g. So my question is:
    1) is it worth while (or necessary) to do a physical query comparison for an obiee 10g to 11g upgrade? or is validating the front-end report data & drill down/interactions adequate?
    2) what are some general reasons why a query generates differently in obiee 10g vs 11g?

Pl post details of OS versions, exact database versions (to 4 digits) and init.ora parameters of the 10g and 11g databases. Have statistics been gathered after the upgrade ?

  • Can we import any Materialized views (MV'S) in OBIEE 10g

    Hi guys,
Could you please tell me is there any chance to import any Materialized views in OBIEE ?
I am using obiee 10g RPD.or how to create MV'S In OBIEE.?
What is use of MV in obiee?
    Pls reply to this .

    Hi,
Materialized view:Aggregate table are called as Materialized view/opaque View
Steps to create Materialized view/opaque View
Physical layer itself by creating view.
Right click on the your RPD physical table -> Select Properties -> from the properties windows choose 'Select' as Table type -> here you can write the SQL query.
Note:Make Sure 'Features' tab and from the available option select 'CREATE_VIEW_SUPPORTED' is checked or not. If it is not checked then check the option.

  • OBIEE 10g to 11g Migration on LINUX Machine

    Hi All,
I want to Migrate OBIEE 10g (Windows Environment with SQL Server DB) to OBIEE 11g on LINUX Environment with Oracle DB.
If anybody know this can you please help me how to do ?Thnaks in Advance.
As per my Knowledge i know upto this .... "first we need to deploy RPD and WEBCatalog files in to New(OBIEE11g) system and we have to test RPD and WEBCatalog files,Whether these two are working fine or not? Because in OBIEE 10g we have OC4J Server,But in OBIEE 11g Architecture wise it's entirely Different here we have OBIEE WEBLOGIC Server. We have to Deploy RPD in WEBCatlog files in to WEBLogic server. And If any changes have to do in Securities and Variables we need to make changes in that after Migration".
    Regards,
    Prasad.

    Prasad,
    Refer the tutorial here..http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/bi/bi11115/upgrade/upgrade_to_11g.htm#t4s3
    Your approach is correct.

I’m not sure what needs changed to get this to work. The table aswihart.preship definitely does exist, in a different schema in the same database.

    Hi,
you need to grant rights from the owner of the table to the user who ownes the package. In 10g some roles have less rights, so this lost the user rights on the table. So start to make a grant select and insert on the table:
grant select, insert on preship to TBORGESON;See if this helps and get more compiled packages.

  • Create an Object in Logical standby database in Oracle 10G

    Hi,
I have logical standby database in oracle 10g R2 for reporting purpose. Now i want to create procedure in logical standby which is use to create new temp table in logical standby and contained data generated from select operation on existing table.
Can i create a new user in logical standby database, add new tablespace in logical standby which can insert, update and delete data in standby database base table?
kindly provide me the steps to implement all this. What will be effect if i set guard_Status in v$database is NONE in logical standby?
    Thanks,
    Shital Patel

    Hi Shital,
Guard_status protects the data from being changed.
ALL- By default it is not possible for a non-privileged user to modify data on a data guard SQL apply database. This is because the database guard is automatically set to ALL.
With this level of security, only SYS user can modify the data.
STANDBY- When you set this level of security, users are able to modify data that is not maintained by the Logical apply engine.
NONE permits any users to access the standby database as long as they have correct privileges. This is the normal security for all data in the database.
You can change the guard status value from ALL to NONE in order to allow non-privileged users to modify data and Yes you can create user and extra tablespace in logical standby database..this is what the one of advantage of using Logical standby database.
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE GUARD NONE;
    Thanks
