Sql Server 2008 - problems after incorrect installation of SSIS component

During the addition of SSIS component to an existing installation of Sql Server 2008 the setup has been made using Sql Server 2008 R2 media.
Now SSMS shows the following error during the connection to the instance :
Method not found: 'Int32.Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc.ISfcDomain.GetLogicalVersion()'
I've tried to remove R2 components and to repair the existing 2008 installation.
At the moment 2008 R2 Native client and Setup are still present in the list of Programs and Features.
From previous comments I understand this method is in a Sql Server 2008 R2 assembly, so it seems that SSMS is running as R2 but is using 2008 libraries.
How can I correct this ?
Thanks.

Hello,
Be careful uninstalling now SQL Server 2008 R2 components. If you uninstall shared components that are SQL Server 2008
R2 components the whole SQL Server 2008 instance will be unusable. For more information about having SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on the same computer, please read the following article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210714(v=sql.105).aspx
Hope this helps.

  • SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 installation problem

Today I saw "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (KB968369)" as an optional update in the updates list. I've tried to intstall it but it failed with Code CF2E222F. I found nothing about this code on the internet.
I've also tried to install the sp manually. I've downloaded it an tried to install. But it also failed.
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error: C:\Windows\Installer\9bcac.msi.
    Any suggestions?

  • SQL Server 2008 is the worst installation experience ever

Sorry but you guys have really messed up with SQL Server 2008 installation.
I've been using SQL server since 6.5, so I would classify as a fan.  We were looking at upgrading from 2005, which I was quite pleased with.
The installation experience is the worst I've ever experienced.  I am a computer expert, and I couldn't figure out how to install it properly.  Why is it that when I downloaded SQL Server Management Studio Express 2008, it seems as though it wants
to install the full database?  Why is it when I was asked if I wanted to install a new version of SQL Server 2008 or use a previous install, when I chose previous install, it said that an instance ID was missing, but there was no way to specify anything
    else?  It drove me crazy.
Why are there so many requirements and restrictions for the installation, when all I want to do is install Management Studio?  It's intolerable and makes me never want to upgrade to 2008.  Why is the process so terrible when Microsoft is supposed
to have the best UE people in the business?
You guys did a really terrible job on this one.

We have not tried to cluster 2012.  We used to cluster; however, we were not prepared to manage the added complications.  The result was that our non-clustered servers had better uptime.  We used to joke about how many 8s we were
getting with our cluster.  (To be fair, it did not help that we had a 7x24 SLA with only 8-5 staff.  When the cluster fails to failover, it can be a long time before it is fixed.  We eventually got the kinks worked out.)
I understand the frustration.  Excellence and stability can be achieved, but product lifecycles can punish those who seek such qualities.  Product changes and shorter support lifecycles produce revenue for MS, so I don't see this getting better.
There will be a new OS, new SQL, and a new set of problems the next time around.
I expect things to get worse until we get pushed into the cloud.  A stable environment in the cloud is profitable for MS and clients.  I do not think this is the case now outside the cloud.  Upgrading applications to remain
on supported products is very costly.  And about the only business benefit of the upgrade is that the product remains on a supported platform and gets security updates.  Sort of sound like that blackmail virus?  I'd rather pay to have a
patch for new features and focus on application upgrades that improve business processes.  Now bug fixes can require a major version change - which will have new bugs.  I'm ranting because of some head pounding
I've done this week due to a hard coded limitation introduced in SQL 2012 by design.  I'll replace the process, but I wonder how long it will work as my SQL related PSH often breaks with a new version of something.  I'll
stop now. Where'd my Prozac go?  Next week is new week, life is good, everything will work,....
PS I actually enjoy the work and think MS products are decent; however, our environment does seem to be more frail and less stable due to MS product changes - even if the products are getting better.  Better is worse - what an odd thought.

Did you read hardware and software requirements before installing SQL Server 2008 R2. I guess you are missing .Net framework. AS per
    This Doc
You need to download and install .Net framework 3.5 SP1 and requirement is more if you are installing express edition. Its all mentioned in link
    You can also refer to
this Thread it has same issue as you are having

    Hello,
The first “Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation” is related to permissions to the registry keys. Please provide full permissions
    on the following registry key:
    SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
Please note that SQL Server 2008 requires Service Pack 3 (SP3) to make it compatible with Windows 8.1. Please perform
an slipstream installation of SQL Server 2008 + SP3:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955392
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Rahul.U,
Are you able to connect to SQL Server successfully from SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) when enforcing encryption?
According to above error message, it could be caused by the inappropriate server name or incorrect TrustServerCertificate configuration in the connection string from Visual Studio. There are some proposals for you troubleshooting this error.
    1. Make sure that you connect to the SQL server using the fully qualified domain name (FQDN).
    2. When connecting to a SQL Server instance with a valid certificate, please add the
    TrustServerCertificate
parameter and set it to true in the connection string. For more details, please review this
    article.
However, if you can successfully connect to SQL Server via SSMS, but still fail to connect to SQL Server from Visual Studio, I would like to recommend you post the question in the .Net Framework forum at
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?category=netdevelopment . It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 64bit Cluster Installation

    Hi,
I would like to know if we can install a secondary cluster INSTANCE to share existing physical drive that has already been assigned to Default Cluster Instance.
We are having limited resources as such we cannot create new disk drive in order to assign this for new sql instance
    For info:
Existing SQL Instance: SQL Server 2008 (32-bit)
New SQL Instance: SQL Server 2008 (64-bit)
    Thanks,
    Sanjeev

    Sanjeev
Hi if drives are already part of resource group or used by particular cluster instance you cannot share it. this is as per what i have read from your question. You can explain your query in details if you like

  • Change SQL server instance collation after Sharepoint installation

Installed Sharepoint 2013 with the SQL Server 2012 db instance using the default collation Latin1_General_CI_AS. SQL is just used for Sharepoint 2013. the system is not released yet for production Run the installation and configurations and database
attach for all content databases. all content dbs were created by SP with proper collation Latin1_General_CI_AS_KS_WS, as well as search, UP and all service applications.
Would like to change the SQL collation for the instance to Latin1_General_CI_AS_KS_WS(as
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2008668) . Steps that I see:
    1. Stop IIS on SP
    2. Script logins
    3. recreate instance collation
    setup /QUIET /ACTION=REBUILDDATABASE /INSTANCENAME=<Name> /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS=<Sysadmins> /SAPWD=PasswordSA /SQLCOLLATION=Latin1_General_CI_AS_KS_WS
4.recreate logins (including Sharepoint farm, portal and services service accounts) from previous scripts. Redeploy linked servers ,remote logins, endpoints, backup devices
    4. attach all Sharepoint databases
    5. since it is preproduction not need msdb also model can remain as recreated by setup
    do you see any issue?

    Hello,
Please take in consideration the steps suggested by Darren Madsen on the following resource.

  • HELP ME!!! I have a problem regarding SQL Server 2008 R2 Replication! :((((

    Good day!
I'm having a big problem in my SQL Server 2008 R2... I can't see the "Local Publication" under the Replication...
About not installing it, I guess that's not true because I checked all the features to install.
Is this a bug? Do I need to re-install my SQL Server 2008 R2? Or simply, do I need to do something simple without re-installing it?
    PLEASE HELP....
    See Link below:
    http://oi59.tinypic.com/4jx3y1.jpg

None. This is a freshly installed SQL Server 2008 R2. After installing, All I did was create a database.
If you want to know how I did it, simply:
    1. Open SSMS, connect to local server
    2. Open Object Explorer
    3. Expand your local server
    4. Right+Click on the Database then clicked on to "New Database..."
    5. Entered my database name then clicked "OK"

    S S Manne

    Hi Manne,
As your description, you come across an error when trying to install SQL Server 2008 express Service Pack 1 on windows XP Service Pack 3 machine. From your error log, I get the error(unable to read registry value). As my analysis, the issue could be due
to that your account doesn't have access to registry. Below are the recommendations for troubleshooting the issue.
    1. Make sure that you log in as an administrator of the machine.
    2. Please follow the steps below to make sure that you have granted the right permission to registry.
    a. Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server in registry.
    b. Right click and go to Permission, then you could see user accounts or groups. If your user account is not in the list, you could click Add to add your account there.
    c. Select your account and Click on Advance.
    d. Check on both check box ('Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent'.
and 'Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object'), click OK.
    e. Click OK again.

    Michelle Li

  • OIM 11g+Database Application Tables Resource Connectors+ MS SQL Server 2008

    Hello Experts:
I installed DBAT 9.1.0.5.0 Resource Adapter on Linux 64 bit server using OIM 11g, I try to create Generic Connectors to configure Target Resource for MS SQL Server 2008 and after entering all the information on the second screen and click continue the screen gets stuck. This does not throw any kind of error nor any error msg are written to Log files. It's been difficult to debug the problem or know the root cause since there is no error msg thrown. No data is written from the sql server.
I can ping to the sql server and port are open.
Do we have to do any kind of setting on sql server to make this work?
Does any one have ideas? Did any one face any issues like this before?
Has any one worked with OIM connections with SQL server?
Just throwing all these question as I am running out of ideas.
    Much help appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thanks Rajiv for the quick reply.
I did try local oracle server and there was no issue. And i even tried all kinds of browsers for SQL server and still the same issue.
And also can you explain a bit more on the these enabling logs
Also enable your logs like XELLERATE.WEBAPP and GTC related logs like
    Xellerate.GC.StartUp
    Xellerate.GC.ProviderRegistration
    Xellerate.GC.ImageGeneration
    Xellerate.GC.FrameworkProvisioning
    Xellerate.GC.Provider.ProvisioningFormat
    Xellerate.GC.Provider.ProvisioningTransport
    Xellerate.GC.FrameworkReconciliation Xellerate.GC.Provider.Reconciliation
    Format
    Xellerate.GC.Provider.Validation
    Xellerate.GC.Provider.Transformation
    Xellerate.GC.Model
    Xellerate.GC.Server
I have done it the DBAT. How to do on these?
    Thanks

  • Best way to migrate SharePoint 2003 data into SQL Server 2008

    Hi Experts,
I am planning to migrate data from SharePoint 2003 into SQL Server 2008. After the migration SharePoint site will be deleted in couple of months and then that data will be feed into .Net Front end application
    1) What is the best and easy way to do it?
    2) Is there any way to automate the migration process? i.e. If a new record gets entered into SharePoint it should be populated into SQL Server 2008.
    3) Any other suggestions
    Thanks,
    John

    Dear John,
If it's just a few lists, and you just want to import them "as-is" then it should be possible to do so ... and survive to tell the about it ;-)
Generally speaking, You will need to write a small process (program or script) to read/parse each list and check if the item(s) are in the target table (I assuming that there is a distinct table as target
for each list, and that each list has 'something" you can use to distinct each row), if it's not there, the just add them according to your needs.
Then just rerun the process periodically and it would keep your databases up to date (you could even set ti up to update those records that have changes, but that would delay your process significantly)
What i just described is doable, and not TOO complicated, it could be done i a lot different ways, and with different alternatives of programming/scripting languages. for sure you can do it in any flavor
of .net language, and even powershell.
As I mentioned, this is speaking in general, the actual implementation would depend on your specific needs and the kind of data that you have/need to keep.
    Best Regards / Saludos, Marianok

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 - Express Download Link Broken

    Hello there
I am installing Backup Exec 2014 and during the installation I need to provide the EXE from the "Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 R2 SP2 - Express" installer (German version). Unfortunately the link is broken, even when I navigate from the download
page to the SQL Express download page (http://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=30438) I always get:
We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found.
I cannot find the German installer anywhere else in the internet, and as I just had to uninstall the old backup solution to be able to start the installer from the new one it is quite important that I get this file as quick as possible so I can get the backup
    running again.
Any idea what I could do or where I could find the installer?
    Thanks for you help.
    Kind regards
    Phil

    Hello Phil,
    yes, seems to be broken.
    Download 2008 R2 SP1 (http://www.microsoft.com/de-DE/download/details.aspx?id=26729) and apply SP 2 afterwards.
