SQL Server Password Expired Automatially
Hi All,
I had install Sql Server 2012 in my system.sql server password for user id sa changed automatically,
first time it will take 3 days, after that it changed with in 3 hours .how to solve this problem
i had install antivirus K7 in my machine .it will cause this issue ,pleas confirm
Happy Coding, RDRaja
Hi Dharmalinga,
As other post, SA passwords don’t change automatically in SQL Server.
Regarding to the scenario you have described, I recommend you create a profiler trace and select the Security Audit: Audit Login Change Password Event as follows. That should give you when and who is changing the password.
In addition, as mentioned in Kalman’s post, please pay attention to these possibilities that cause the issue, for example, system restores, there are some scheduled jobs changing SA password.

SQL Server 2014 Expired-Not allow the licensed Standard Edition SSMS
Hi
I have installed SQL server 2014 Enterprise edition Trial version, It is expired, So i install the SQL server 2014 standard edition , now if i type ssms in my server,It show , Evaluation period has expired, guide me how to change the ssms instance
to my sql server standard edition
Thanks & Regards ManojManoj - For upgrading the evaluation edition , the only upgrade option will be to upgrade it to Enterprise Edition. There is no downgrade path for it.
Having said this, you can either upgrade to ENT edition or follow these steps:
Take backup of User Databases
Un-install/Remove the existing instance
Install SQL Server 2014 Standard edition and restore your databases over it
Few important considerations:
You can restore user databases to standard edition provided you are not using any enterprise class features such
Database Partitioning
Data Compression
Change Data Capture
Transparent Data Encryption
To know whether any of the above are enabled use this query:
SELECT * FROM sys.dm_db_persisted_sku_features

How to pull data from sql server ( Seperate server) & upload it into sap
Hi All,
I have a SQL Server database in System1,
data base name DB1
Table name TB1
I want pull data from TB1 & upload the same into ztable in SAP.
How I can I achive this in ABAP.
Thanks in Advance
Appropriate points will be rewarded.
Arun kumarHi Arun,
You have to do the following:
1. Create an entry in Trxn DBCA for SQL Server in SAP, you are creating a database connection for the SQL server in SAP.
2. You use this connection, and write Native SQL stmnts...between EXECSQL...ENDEXEC to fetch the data..and then normal ABAP statements to put that data into your ztable.

Define ODBC to sql server express 2008 on AZURE VM
Hello,
I defined virtual machine in AZURE with windows server 2008.
I installed SQL SERVER 2008 R2 SP2 Express on the virtual machine.
My goal is to connect from access 2010 to the SQL Server.
I defined endpoint: TCP, public port:57500, private port:1433
I defined an inbound rule in VM firewall: port 1433 opened for the database engine
I defined sql server to allow network login.
I am trying to define ODBC connection but it does not work.
I use the following settings in ODBS form:
Server: VM DNS Name (like: XXX.cloudapp.net),57500
Login ID: login name to SQL Server
Password: password to SQL Server
Can you help me with the correct settings so I will be able to connect to SQL Server?
Thank you for your helpHello,
Which error message did you received when connect to SQL Server Express instance with OBDC?
Please verify you had did the following configuration:
1.Make sure that TCP/IP is enabled for SQL Server Express in SQL Configuration Manager.
2. Configure SQL Server to listen on the TCP protocol 1433.
3. Configure SQL Server with mixed mode authentication and the login you used is valid.

*** URGENT *** Problems Connecting to MS SQL Server 2000
Hi guys,
I'm rather new to SQL Server and whenever I try to connect to my tables in SQL Servers through jdbc-odbc bridge and ODBC DSN it's Ok. BUT when I try the Microsoft or Merant driver I get log in problem. The server requires a trusted connection and won't accept my username/password. Please help out of misery. I read through some documentation and it mentioned setting up application roles, but I can't get it working. Those expert on the subject please provide a sample connection url, mine is:
String url = "jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:1433;User=Administrator;Password=****;SendStringParametersAsUnicode=true";The jdbc error is:
Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Dri
ver for JDBC][SQLServer]Login failed for user 'Administrator'. Reason: Not assoc
iated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
Thanks in advance. The problem could be caused by one of two things.
The first reason could be that the 'Administrator' user is not set up with a SQL Server only password.
Another possible reason is that SQL Server is not setup to use SQL Server passwords, only Windows NT Authentication.
Open Enterprise Manager, expand your database and select users. Check the properties of the 'Administrator' user and make sure that it is set with SQL Server password. Also, check the properties of the SQL Server instance - right click on the SQL Server name, select properties and select the security tab. Make sure that SQL Server and Windows NT is selected and not just Windows NT.
Hope this helps.

How to connect musicdb to Microsoft SQL Server
hi..
i have tried musicdb example with mysql, but i need to connect it to SQL Server.
i have created a similar DB in SQL SERVER, however i am not able to create a user, similar to musicdbuser and musicdbpass in SQL SERVER.
Also in the Administrator console i followed these steps.
1. Applications->web Applications->deployed the war file-> OK
2.Resources->JDBC->Connection Pool->New->Name ='musicdb-jdbc-pool-SQLserver'->Resource Type='javax.sql.Datasource'->Database Vendor='Microsoft SQL SERVER'-> Next
added properties Values
databaseName musicdb(this is the database i created in MS SQL SERVER)
databaseSourceName musicdb(this is the DSN name i created in control panel->ODBC connections)
networkProtocol TCP
user sa (this is the username that i use to start SQL SERVER)
password syntel123$ (this is the password that i use with the above user )
portNumber 1443
serverName localhost
then i click finish.
if i say ping to this connection , i get success!!
3. then i goto resources->jdbc->jdbc resources->new->JNDI Name="jdbc/musicdb"->pool name="musicdb-jdbc-pool-SQLserver'"->ok
4. Then i click resources->connectors->connector connection pool->new->Name="mep/musicdb"->resource adapter="ds-jcr-connector-jaxrs"->next->finish
5 Then i click resources->connector resources->new->JNDI name="mep/musicdb"->pool="mep/musicdb"->ok
however when i hit the URL http://localhost:8080/musicdb/resources/albums
i get the following error
type : Exception report
message
description: The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
exception: javax.servlet.ServletException: com.sun.jersey.api.container.ContainerException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.sun.mep.ws.vtms.util.ConnectionPool

root cause: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.sun.mep.ws.vtms.util.ConnectionPoolHi,
I was able to create a JDBC connection pool for SQL Server successfully and will share the key steps, and was able to create a MEP user with an ECBO connection configured for the SQL Server; However, it looks like there is a "false positive" problem. Even though the user was created with the SQL Server connector whose associated JDBC connection pool passed the Ping test, doing a sync as that user changed the MySQL database album table and not the SQL Sever album table. MEP didn't give any error at all. I will bring this up with our engineers.
Here are the steps for at least getting GF JDBC connections with SQL Server working.
1. With MS SQL Sever 2005 Server Management Studio,
created a 'musicdb' database, a 'musicdbuser' user with password 'musicdbpass',
and added the 'album' table with
name (varchar(30) primary key, not null)
artist (varchar(30), not null)
date_published (datetime, not null)
rating (int, not null)
username (varchar(30), not null)
2. With MS SQLServer Configuration Manager, enable TCP/IP on static IP address
and 127.0.0.1 on port 1433 and restarted the SQL Server service
3. Downloaded Microsoft's 2.0 Driver for SQL Server 2005
4. Copied the driver sqljdbc4.jar to GF_HOME/domains/mep/lib/ext
5. Restarted GF
6. Login to GF Admin Console
7. Create Resources -> JDBC -> Connection Pool
name: musicdb_pool_sqlserver
resource type: javax.sql.DataSource
datasource class: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDataSource
8. Create Resources -> JDBC -> Resource
name jdbc/musicdb_sqlserver
9. Go back to musicdb_pool_sqlserver and click Additional Properties then add
user: musicdbuser
password: musicdbpass
serverName=localhost
portNumber=1433
databaseName=musicdb
10. Click General tab and click Ping. Get Success! -
SQL Server Enterprise Edition installation and V3
Hi Team,
Our trial evaluation version of the SQL Server has expired. We already have a SQL Server Enterprise edition DVD which was shipped along with the SAP ECC 6.0 (2004S) software (which we purchased from SAP).
1. Can we install this DVD on the Discovery system?
2. If yes, what are the steps please?
3. If no then, what are the steps to install the demo license again?
4. What do we have to do to upgrade to Version 3 of Discovery system? Is there any cost involved?
Please respond. Your help and guidance would be of tremendous value to us. Points would be awarded for helpful answers.
Thanks much for your time.Hi Suresh,
Microsoft SQL server is an evaluation version for 180 days.
you need to have a regular database license ready after that timeframe.
That licence you get from microsoft.
Try these steps for reinstalling DB server.
Detach the databases,
Uninstall the SQL eval version,
Reinstall a fully licensed Enterprise addition of SQL and then
Re-attach the db's (using the script attach_dbs.bat, step 5,in
the Quick Guide).
This should be all that is needed.
Please make sure you back-up the system before going through all
the steps.
You are free to upgrade your v2.0 system by downloading patches
and service packs from SAP's Service MarketPlace and applying
them to the system. As the DS is an appliance - bundled hardware
and software , there is no automatic upgrade from v2.0 to v3.0.But
we cant assure you about the compatiability of new scenarios
developed for V3.0 for this upgrade version of V2.0.
I suggest you easiest way of using a full configured V3 is
buying new Hardware. Then you will have new scenarios.
yes, you are right DS V3.0 is packed with MAX DB5.5.
Hope this information will help you,
Best Regards,

Sa's password in SQL Server 2008 R2 Express
Hi,
In the SQL Server 2005 Express I can chose the expert mode during the installation. This enables me to set the password of the user “sa”.
Now I tried to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express but I had no possibility to change / set the password of the user “sa”.
I read in the internet that the default-password of the user “sa” should be a blank password. Since in SQL Server 2008 R2 Express there was no way to set / change “sa”’s password I tried to login with a blank password. But this
also didn’t worked.
So my questions are:
1. Where during the SQL Server 2008 R2 Express setup can I set / change the “sa”’s password.
2. Where in the SQL Server 2008 R2 Express can I set / change the “sa”’s password after the installation.
3. What’s the default password of “sa” in SQL Server 2008 R2 Express?
4. Why a blank password for the unmodified “sa” account didn’t worked?
Thank in advance for all your helpful answers.I am not sure whether you found a solution for sa password reset in 2k8 express. May be useful to others.
Steps to reset the password:
1. Go to SQL Server Properties/Security tab and change the mode to SQL Server authentication mode
2. Go to security/logins, open SA login properties
a. Uncheck "Enforce password policy" and "Enforce password expiration" check box there if you decide
to use weak password
b. Assign password to SA user
3. In SQL 2k8, we may get the following error when we reset the password,
"Cannot set a credential for principal 'sa' . (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15535)"
Resolution:
but this can be fixed by selecting the "Map To Credential" check box on the General tab of the Login
Properties - sa dialog box.
4. You may get the following error after above step,
“User is not associated with a trusted sql server connection"
Resolution:
In SQL Server Management Studio, Right-click the Server name, select Properties > Security
Under Server Authentication, select SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode
The server must be stopped and re-started before this will take effect.
5. Make sure the sa (at status tab of sa properties) is enabled after restart the server.
It works =)!!!!!!!!! Thanks man =) -
How can I login to my MS SQL Server 2005 if I forgot my login password
Hi,
I am using SQL Server 2005 at home.
My problem is I forgot my password to log in to my server.
I only remember user name is 'sa'.
I haven't used it for two to three months. So I forgot password.
Previously, When I used sql server 2000, my login is as windows login. so no problem.
But this time, I set seperate log in and I got this problem.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
GeorgeI hope the following article will help: http://blogs.msdn.com/raulga/archive/2007/07/12/disaster-recovery-what-to-do-when-the-sa-account-password-is-lost-in-sql-server-2005.aspx

Crystal Report 2008 results "Password did not match error" in SQL Server Log
Hi,
I am trying to develop some crystal reports using Crystal Report 2008 SP4 to connect to SQL server 2008 through RDO (ODBC). My problem is that anytime Crystal Report is trying to establish a connection with SQL Server, first it tries to connect with the wrong password and results the following error message in SQL Server log:
Login failed for user 'peyman'. Reason: Password did not match that for the login provided. [CLIENT: 192.168.2.198]
The login name 'peyman' is the right one as I have quoted the same in setting up ODBC System DSN using "SQL Server Native Client 10". But somehow Crystal Report is taking its chance and trying to connect before prompting me for the password. After this error logged to SQL server side, I can see Crystal Report pops up the prompt to enter DSN password. After supplying password to this prompt, Crystal Report works fine and pulls the data and renders the report without having any more incorrect password error logged to SQL Server.
The attached file shows the step I am taking to regenerate the issue. I need this to be fixed as anytime uses any of these reports and tries to render it with crystal runtime engine the same error message raises in SQL Server side and logged in the log file.
Thanks,Hi Peyman,
This is the way it should work, In CR designer when you open the report it does nothing. As soon as you hit the Refresh button then CR tries to use the connection saved with the report. It assumes what is saved with the report is a valid server and connection info. CR simply tries to verify the server is still active.
If you don't want it to fail in CRD then before opening any report Click the File, Log on Database option and connect. Now when refreshing reports it won't log the failed.
In the SDK it does the same thing, it assumes the Server info is the same and does try to connect to verify the Server does exist. It only takes a few milli-seconds to do this
To stop this from happening set the log on info first then it won't log the attempt to connect, it's checking to see if Trusted is allowed.

Notice it doesn't try to connect first if I set the log on info first using code.
So nothing we can do to stop SQL server from logging this info. Check with the DBA, possibly they can "filter" out the application attempts to connect or change your work flow in the app.
If you have a Preview Button to view the report then simply add your Database log on info prompt there if Connectioninfo.Trusted is not true:
mainSecureDB = rpt.Database.Tables[tableIndex].LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity;
if mainSecureDB = false then prompt the user for log on info and set accordingly, if it is true the it should not fail when it connects.
This is simply a matter of changing your App work flow...

How to get password for the Sql server 2008 r2
Always when a user forgets a SA password , Blogs suggest to get into the server through windows Authentication having SysAdmin , and change the password for user SA.
Sir,
Is there any other methods to retrieve or see the password what we assigned before.
Example: If SA Password is assigned as Test
I have to get Test
, Instead of changing password.
Thanks in Advance.
Hello,
Dont you think it would create a Havoc if one could specifically see other admins password.Apply Gumption, you wont use SQL server if that feature is there. You cannot obtain password for other users.
If user forgets it change it ,there is no restriction on changing.

Decrypt the hashed password in SQL Server 2008
Hello all,
I have used HASHBYTES to decrypt the password of the user using SHA1, so now there is a requirement to decypt back the password to its original form,
for eg
Pass word is 'Jhon' so after applying HASHBYTES('SHA1','Jhon') it gices the output as "0xB13B42158655F36814F3C4541C6457F7CAD0F719"
Now i want back to get Jhon from the encypted value.
Please suggest an idea to do so.
Thanks for advance.
Pankaj Kumar Yadav-To expand on what Dan says above, one can use pwdencrypt/pwdcompare from SQL but in a different context (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/173329/how-to-decrypt-a-password-from-sql-server).
The context would be more like the one that is used to determine whether your user passes a CORRECT password. In this case, the hash value saved in the database must be the same as the hash value of the password being passed in. In this
manner, while you can't decrypt, you can determine whether the user knows the password or not without storing the password. Not the best way to enable a password, but a workaround for sure. Similar to Dan's method above but may provide a bit more
detail as to the why's and wherefore's using the examples listed there.

but i forgot my SA password on my old server (sql2000)and no one has sys admin access
can any one help me how do i get sa password
could you plz tell me step by step process
KamalHi,
You cannot find SA password as a fact you cannot see any password for SQL server its hashed. Below article would help you in logging in SQL server when all administrators are locked out I am not sure whether it will work in SQL server 2000 as I barely remember
having such issue on 2000
In SQL server 2005 if started with -m option any user who is member of Built in administrator ( or added as admin in local windows account) can connect regardless of whether the BUILTIN\Administrators group has been granted a server login that is provisioned
in the SYSADMIN fixed server role. This behavior is by design. This behavior is intended to be used for data recovery scenarios. Check if same holds for SQL 2000 as well
Connect to SQL server when Sysadmins are locked out
Do you have any other login which is member of sysadmin. I cannot find a reason to shutdown SQL Server what if its a production DB ( yes I know few SQL 2000 which are still production) use backup restore to move databases always.
