SQL statement limit in creating a Recordset?

Using CS3 SQL 2008 - I am trying to create a recordset and when I paste my SQL statement of 405 lines into the SQL section / box it only copies about half of the code. Any idea why? IS there a limit as to the number of lines of code in a recordset. I have a huge case statement is why this is so large. Any help is appreciated.

I solved my problem and I thought I'd come back and post it
here in case anyone else has the same problem.
The log-in server behavior creates a session variable for the
username submitted on the login page. The variable is called
"MM_Username". You can use that session variable as your filter
criteria on following pages to call that user's record from the DB.
Hope that helps...

    Hi,
    CreateSQL does not execute the sql statement, it just creates an SQL object, which you have to execute.
    Something like this:
    &param = %Request.GetParameter("Dept");
    Local SQL &usersCursor = CreateSQL("SELECT EMPLID, BIRTHDATE, NAME FROM PS_EMPLOYEES WHERE DEPTNAME_ABBRV = :1", &param);
    While usersCursor.Fetch(&Emplid, &Birthdate, &Name)
    /* do processing*/
    End-While;

  • A comprehensive SQL statement

    Hi guys,
    if i'm not mistaken ,we usualy use the statement.executeQuery(sql) for sql statements such select
    and the statement.executeUpdate(sql) for sql stat such update ,create, alter, drop...
    what i want to do is to be able to execute any kind of sql statement and off course be able to get the ResultSet of this query ...
    is there any method in java that do this job?
    thanks for helping :-)

    Yeah, it's the execute(String) method of Statement. In the API docs for this method it says:
    " The execute method executes an SQL statement and indicates the form of the first result. You must then use the methods getResultSet or getUpdateCount to retrieve the result, and getMoreResults to move to any subsequent result(s)."
    You may find more useful information there.

    Looking for someone to help me to solve this issue.Maybe you are closing the connections. You might want to verify that you are not doing that. Or if you are that that is the correct way to return the connection to the pool.
    Or you could have stale connections. Some databases will time out connections if the connection is no used in a while. (This is a good thing.) But this means connection pools must do something with connections that are not used for a while. The pools usually have a configuration option(s) which allows you to set up a keep alive message which keeps the database from closing the connection.

  • How to dynamically create sql statement for Defaulting Segment Values?

    Hi,
    Navigation:
    1) Descriptive/Segments
    2) Query for DFF to be modified
    3) Uncheck “Freeze Flexfield Definition”
    4) (B) Segments
    5) Segments Summary form opens
    6) (B) open - Segments form opens
    Now, here I want to specify Default type as "SQL Statement" and in the default value field I want to use SQL statement with parameters (to evaluate the default value).
    The parameters should be pass at runtime from the form in which we have this DFF. The parameters value should be one of the values which get evaluated at runtime in the form window.
    Please suggest how we can achieve this?
    Or is there any alternative to achieve this?
    Thanks!!

    Jason,
    it is possible, though not so simple as with a report.
    What you need to do is to create a pipelined function, that returns your date and count data. This pipelined function can be the base of a pseudo-table, which can be used in a select. For the pipelined function you need to define types for one row and a table to define the return-type for your function:
    create or replace type calendar_row as object (date_time date, description varchar2(250));
    create type calendar_table as table of calendar_row;
    Then you can create the package with the function:
    ================================================
    create or replace package dyn_calendar is
    procedure set_query(i_query in varchar2);
    function view_source return calendar_table pipelined;
    end;
    create or replace package body dyn_calendar is
    v_query varchar2(100) := null;
    procedure set_query(i_query in varchar2) is
    begin
    v_query := i_query;
    end;
    function view_source return calendar_table pipelined is
    TYPE cursor IS REF CURSOR;
    c_cal cursor;
    v_date_time date := null;
    v_description varchar2(100) := null;
    r_cal calendar_row;
    begin
    open c_cal for v_query;
    fetch c_cal into v_date_time, v_description;
    loop
    exit when c_cal%notfound;
    r_cal := calendar_row(v_date_time, v_description);
    pipe row(r_cal);
    fetch c_cal into v_date_time, v_description;
    end loop;
    return;
    end;
    end;
    ================================================
    Now you can set query in a PL/SL region before the calendar:
    dyn_calendar.set_query(SELECT count(*), ' || :P8_SOURCE_DATE || ' FROM ' || :P8_SOURCE_TABLE || ' GROUP BY ' || :P8_SOURCE_DATE);
    and you can base your calendar on the query:
    select * from table(dyn_calendar(view_source))
    Good luck,
    Dik

  • HOW do I create a href to an sql statement?

    Answer to query:
    “You sould create a href to an sql statement ( create new user / passwd : and insert in a table (C_user,C_PASSWD), to have a list of users registred at your application)
    A htp page can manage this
    you should create roles that be granted to users,
    1- create &user dientified by &passwd;
    2- create role1....;
    3- grant &role1 to &user1;
    :user will be added by user if he chooses registration href.
    then he must add information in order to continue registration or push OK to confirm registration and let oracle grant previleges to the new user, a trigger can insert the new informations to the user_table_traces.”
    MY QUESTION:
    HOW do I create a href to an sql statement?
    Thank You

    Hello,
    I have an application written in PL/SQL that sits on top of an Oracle database. I want to know how add a password/login feature to the application. In other words the user can go to a certain URL to access and use the application. However when the user clicks on a certain link that is restricted, then the webpage displays fields so that the user has to enter a username and password. In order to access restricted features of the application such as ADD, UPDATE and DELETE.

  • Creating a DataTable from the results of SQL statement

    I am relatively new to VB 2005, ADO and Oracle db. I have perfected an SQL statement that joins 6 tables in an Oracle 10i database and the resulting set retunrs the correct data. I am having difficulty creating and inserting this resulting set into a datatable that could be used in my application. Could someone detail the steps needed to create and fill this table

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/A91202_01/901_doc/appdev.901/a89856/06_ora.htm#1604
    The link above points to Oracle's documentation on using cursor variables. In a nutshell, you want to create a package that defines the cursor type and contains the procedure to open the cursor.
    create package my_package as
    type my_cursor_type is ref cursor;
    procedure my_procedure (out_cursor out my_cursor_type);
    end;
    create package body my_package as
    procedure my_procedure (out_cursor out my_cursor_type) is
    begin
         open my_cursor for
              select ...;
    end;
    end;Now you need to set up your .NET application to read the data.
    OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection("User Id=myuser;Password=mypassword;Data Source=mydatabase");
    OracleParameter[] parms = new OracleParameter[1];
    parms[0] = new OracleParameter("table1_cursor", OracleDbType.RefCursor, ParameterDirection.Output);
    OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand("my_package.my_procedure", con);
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
    cmd.Parameters.AddRange(parms);
    DataTable myTable = new DataTable();
    OracleDataAdapter da = new OracleDataAdapter(cmd);
    da.Fill(myTable);

  • Create a link in a table calls sql statement

    Hello,
    I'm very new to htmldb but need to complete a project within a tight timeline. I created a sql report in a region. On each row, I have an on/off link, which used to trigger a sql statement. It turns a flag on and off in a table. Key needs to be passed with the link to be used in sql. How do I passed the key in the link and how can I call the sql statement? Where can I put the sql statement? Can someone give me some tips?
    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    if you take a look at the "Understanding URL Syntax" section in chapter 6 of our User Guide, you'll see that you can set item values in html db via the URL by passing name/value pairs through the url. to see it in action, use our "Report with links to form on a table (2 Pages)" wizard to generate a form and a report on some table of yours. when you run that report page and click an edit link on it, you'll see how it passes its values to the form page using our URL syntax. in your case you'd want to create an item like MY_PROD_KEY_ITEM and set its value via your link. you'd then run your pl/sql block referring to the value of that item. when doing so, you'd probably want to use the bind variable syntax that's also explained in chapter 6, "Referencing Session State".

  • Issue Related to limit the result in prompt by using SQL statement.

    Hello Gurus,
    I am facing one issue rite now with our testing environment in some Dashboard Prompt. it seems like they are working fine in our Development environment.
    basically I am using SQL statement in prompt to limit the values for current + last 2 years in drop down.
    Here is the SQL that I am using SELECT Time."Fiscal Year" FROM "Financials - AP Overview" where Time."Fiscal Year" <= VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.CURRENT_FSCL_YEAR) AND Time."Fiscal Year" >= (VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.CURRENT_FSCL_YEAR)-2) ORDER BY TIme."Fiscal Year" desc
    Now it's working fine in our Dev but geeting failed in Test environment.
    it's giving below error.
    Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.

    Please let me know your output.
    Thanking You..

    Couple of possibilities..
    1. environments may be at different patch sets, may be causing the issue.
    2. data in working environment is fine but in other environment.
    to further debug use the same logical sql in both environments and compare the results..
    hope this helps..

  • ADF with JSF: How to execute a Sql statement created in a form

    Hello to every body,
    I'm working in JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0, I have to do a development when the user can create a SQL statement and I have execute that before to do commit to the DB(Oracle DB).
    Example:
    The user create the next query:
    "+Select id_boss, boss_name from boss where boss_salary>5000+"
    I don't know how to do that with the current persistence and without create a Connection Method.

    The video tutorial is excellent but I have a problem because I'm working with Release 2 and when I try to do something like the video I had the next error:
    FachadaConsultaLocalImp cannot be cast to ApplicationModule
    the code to try to create a ViewObject is the next:
    DCDataControl dc = this.getBinding().findDataControl("FachadaConsultaLocal");
    String dataProvider=dc.getDataProvider().toString();
    ApplicationModule appModule = (ApplicationModule)dc.getDataProvider();
    Some idea?

  • Limits to the SQL Statement when creating External Dictionaries

    Limits to the SQL Statement when creating External Dictionaries
    Does RC not provide the ability to concatenate multiple db columns into a single dictionary field?  When trying a query like:  SELECT Col1 + Col2 AS NewCol1 FROM Tbl1 we get an error("Unknown internal error") after clicking to save/create the new  dictionary.  This is on version 2008.3

    What if you created a buffer table in your external database, that is populated by your field-merging query, and then invoke that from Newscale? The temporary table would be updatable by newscale (although, presumably, you wouldn't actually have newscale update it), so then it'd accept that connection.
    For example, I think you could do something like that by creating a View in MS SQL Server. Likewise, in other database brands you could create a Trigger that would update the buffer table each time data in the real tables are changed.

  • BPC 7 MS: Which SQL statements are created for writing with input schedule?

    Hi,
    I wanted to know which SQL statements are created and executed if a user submits values using an Excel input schedule to an application.
    When I check the correspoinding MS SQL server log files, I see that data is read from the three partitions belonging to the application and put into a temporary table, but I can't find anything about writing back to the application (presumably the WB partiton...) in the log.
    There are some cryptic entries in the log file as well, but they are not human-readale... are there any BPC logfiles that could tell me which SQL statements are created and executed to write back the new values to the application? Thanks!

    Hi,
    As far as i know, when a user send data entry from an excel schedule, it will be written in the WB table of the application (for each application, you have 3 Data tables : WB, Fact2 and Fact).
    I presume that the SQL statement may be an INSERT or UPDATE statement.
    Technically, the update is done by the send governor service (hosted on your BPC application server).
    There is no log that will show you the SQL Statement besides a SQL trace that you have to setup in SQL Server 2005 Manager Studio.
    btw, the data are written in the Relationnal database but are read from the OLAP cube. The olap Cube is split in 3 partitions (ROLAP on WB table / and MOLAP on fact and fat2). Wich mean that every new entry in WB will be automatically "updated" in the cube.
    Some DM packages can directly write data in fact2 table. In this case you need to reprocess the cube to get it loaded.
