SQLException while accessing an MS Access database from a JSP

I have a set of classes for accessing an MS Access database and have set up the database properly(System dsn...etc).These work fine when im using them from a console application....but when im tryng to use these from a jsp im getting an SQL general exception(Error code: 0).Really caught up here.please help.
Im using jdk 1.6 and tomcat 6.0 and ms access 2000.

Oerror while inserting in to 11g database from SOA suite 11g db adaptor

I am getting following error while inserting in to 11g database from SOA suite 11g database adaptor. Can you please help me on this.

It looks like you try to insert a string-value in a number-column.
can you check all your assign and their values before you invoke the db-adapter, then you should be able to narrow down the problem.

Getting exception ORA-12705 while trying to connect to database from forms 9i

Hello All,
I have installed 9i database and I gave path for oracle home as Oracle_path while installing. then I installed 9i dev suite, Installer forced me to use different Oracle home, so I gave Odev_path as path.
I have created server alias name from dev suite to Oracle database and I could connect to database from froms 9i. suddenly it started giving me the following exception when I try to connect database from forms 9i.
ORA-12705 invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified
could some one help toresolve the issue.

Is the client installation of any relevance? I notice that this user has a different installation from the one that I have, and that he amongst other things doesn't have sql plus installed.

Accessing my own class members from the JSP file

Hi,
I have created a class by name simple.java.and the package structure is like sridhar.source.useful.In this package i placed my file simple.java.
Now i import this file with the import statement in JSP like
<%@ import = "sridhar.source.useful.*" %>
Now from the JSP file i want to execute some of the methods in simple.java.
I tried this one by importing the simple.java in my JSP file,but i am getting some errors:
variables that i have declared in Java files are not defined.
The JSP is not importing the class simple.java
I am executing my JSP in weblogic6.1(webserver is IPlanet)
shall i need to set any classpath for this in the weblogic shell script??
pls clarify me if any configuration is to be made or not??

For JSP with IPlanet/weblogic and imported custom classes:
Put your class / package in the correct folder. $path is any path you want....
Ex: package foo, class foorbar must be
$path/foo/foobar.class
All classes must be .class, not .jar.
Weblogic/IPlanet must be configured to have the CLASSPATH
$path/
(do not include foo/foobar!)
The JSP has
<%@ import "foo.*" %>
Your class may now be used just like the other imported classes. Say you have an object Foobar with a constructor, you can just say
Foobar myFoo = new Foobar();
I do this with my classes, so if you have any questions, just ask.

BUT WHEN JOINING With DATABASE FROM SERVLET ALL WORK FINE.
I read this doc - [http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html], this applicable if I Tomcat Admin, but i'am not Admin
I simply user, i.e. I want to place its database on virtual host (Tomcat+(JSP-JSTL)+MySQL).
There is idea how can resolve this problem

Backing up a database from a jsp or servlet

Please can someone give a suggestion on how I can backup my database from jsp interface or servlet code.I use my mssql database although I can do the backing up through the Enterprise Manager but I dont know the code to use or embed in my jsp and add a backup button for users to make it users friendly.

You issue the BACKUP database command to do the backup.
You could therefore write a script which you execute from the Servlet using the Runtime.exec methods.

How to seperate the access for two identical databases from two application

First I have to say I'm sorry... Oracle and the oracle architecture are totally new for me. However I hope to get some help with this.
We have one Oracle 10g server and a database name A with table name X, Y and Z, for Application AA with access for property file AAA.
The server capacity are almost not being used.
Here are my thought, how can I add a database name B with table name X, Y and Z (yes same tables as in database A) data for application BB with access for property file BBB.
how can I seperate the 2 property files (question: on a port number?), so in case there by a mistake should be switch around on 2 property files, it then is impossible to access the date from Application AA to date in database name B.
Password on Database A (incl table) and Database B (incl table) are the same.
Is there any solution to this?

What I would like to do is make use of the resource on one machine.
I have several similar applications, databases, tables and password where data should be totally separated from each other. however I would trying to prevent that there could be any data access from Application AA to Database B in case there should be a switch of property files
I'm familiar with Sybase environment, however isn't there some thing fancy in oracle there can seperate to almost identical applications to access other databases

Hi thanks for responding. Ok i did look through and it was opening some gui. I still need the program to do server side processes so cant use an applet.but i dont need the gui so i revised it and removed the gui. also im using a servlet to call the class now yet i still have the same error. Error while connecting to the database from a JSP Page

Hi,
I am using a simple JSP page which is based on the sample JSP pages from OTN.
When I try to connect to my database using the following code:
InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
OracleDataSource ds = (OracleDataSource)ic.lookup("jdbc/OTN9iDS");
m_connection = ds.getConnection();
I get the following error:
Naming exception Error while connecting to the database : javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: jdbc/OTN9iDS not found in JDBCTest-JDBCTestProject-webapp
Does anybody know wht this is happening?

Hi Frank,
Are you using standalone OC4J or 9iAS ? If you are using standalone OC4J then you need to add a proper data source entry in %OC4J_HOME%j2ee\home\config\data-sources.xml file.
If you are using 9iAS the you can log in to the Enterprise Manager console and add the data source entry by using wizard provided by 9iAS.
Ensure the case of the JNDI lookup string, since, it is case sensitive.

We were actually using an older version of the toolbox (our software is regulated by the FDA as a medical device so changing our platform is a major process). I tried several newer versions and it was the same.
Oh well, no big for now. In the future we'd still like to use record level access, but for now we are okay. This came up over an issue of record locking--needing to maintain a record lock during some calculations. We got it working using jdbc's updatable statements/resultsets.

Access MS-Access using JDBC ODBC bridge from Sun AMD64

Hi,
We are trying to configure a communication channel using the JDBC adapter. We are setting the driver to the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver and trying to access an MS Acess database from the PI server(sun amd64). When we set the driver to the JDBC-ODBC bridge, the J2EE engine tries to restart immediately and does not start. The std_server.out contains the following error:

Has anybody been able to configure the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver for MS Access? Also, has anybody used the database vendor(MS) drivers? If so, where are they available.

Unable to connect to database from D2K

GoodDay, This is Ramesh. I have loaded both Oracle 9i & D2K in my PC. But i am getting some error message while trying to connect to database from d2k forms. I entered Usename, Password. The message is..
ORA-12203: TNS: Unable to connect to destination
The second time i entered both Username, Password & Database.
User Name: Scott
Passwors : tiger
Database: ORCL9i (SID name)
please let me know where i am lacking..?

Do you connect when you set username , passwd , database....????
If you can via another tool , for example sql*plus then simply , copy the particular setting tns alias , you use to connect to this db, from [ORACLE_HOME]\network\admin\tnesanames.ora and paste it to [DEV2000_HOME]\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
