SQLLDR direct path allows duplicates in primary key

I would like to use sqlldr direct path to load millions of records in the table but direct path allows duplicates on the primary key constraints.
inserts duplicates
sqlldr deploy_ctl/deploy_ctl@dba01mdm control=ctl_test.ctl direct=true
primary key is enabled
I am not understanding the behavior that why primary key is still enabled -- (logically it should have disabled than inserted duplicates)
does not insert duplicates
sqlldr deploy_ctl/deploy_ctl@dba01mdm control=ctl_test.ctl
primary key is enabled
Please can I know if there is any work around to use direct path with primary constraints in place.

Dear,
Look at the following example
mhouri.world> drop table t1;
Table dropped.
mhouri.world> create table t1 (id number);
Table created.
mhouri.world> alter table t1 add constraint t1_pk primary key (id);
Table altered.
mhouri.world> select table_name, index_name, status
  2  from user_indexes
  3  where table_name = 'T1';
TABLE_NAME                     INDEX_NAME                     STATUS
T1                             T1_PK                          VALID
mhouri.world> select count(1) from t1;
  COUNT(1)
         0                                                                      and here call sqlldr
C:\>sqlldr xxx/xxx@xxxx control=c.ctl bad=c.bad direct=trueAnd see what happen to the primary key index
mhouri.world> select count(1) from t1;
  COUNT(1)
         4
mhouri.world> select * from t1;
        ID
         1
         2
         2
         3
mhouri.world> select table_name, index_name, status
  2  from user_indexes
  3  where table_name = 'T1';
TABLE_NAME                     INDEX_NAME                     STATUS

  • Sql functions  in sqlldr direct path

    Hi
    I am using oracle 9i(9.2) database,
    What are the sql functions you can use in sqlldr direct path?
    Thanks
    MM

    As far as I know there is no restriction, why do you ask?

  • Sqlldr direct path is taking more time.

    Hi,
    I wants to load a csv file into oracle database, Here the Database software is of Release 10.2.0.1.0 and the operating system of Redhat Linux.
    The CSV is having data of 120 million records, firstly i tried with the option of using insert /*+ APPEND */ into CAPTOR_TDR_MSC
    where this table is an external table, to complete this task it has taken 40 mins.
    Then i tried with the option :
    sqlldr captor/captor control=captor_csv.ctl log=direct.log errors=500000 direct=true
    it has taken 01:21:00.30 much of time. I assume that direct = true directly writes to data, and is better option than using insert /*+ APPEND */ into.... option.
    Can you please explain me whats happened exactly for the slowness to load the data using direct=true option.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Jack,
    Thanks for the quick response...
    In the program ther are so many check boxes to select ex: Repair,Display log etc. By defauly it was deselected (Repair,Force X,Check mode) and rest of the check boxes are selected. Please advice Can I execute the program by giving the Info object name.

  • Read-Only Primary Key

    Hi All,
    I am trying to figure out a way to keep my primary keys from being edited. I created a primary key constraint but did not know how to set it as read-only.
    Each time I create a new record, commit, and change its primary key, Oracle allows me.
    Can someone please shed a light to this?
    THanks!

    I was actually thinking of that update trigger but I thought maybe there was a direct declaration or attribute that I could simply set to my primary key constraint as read-only. No there is nothing like that as far as i know.
    In regards to allowing update on primary key, that is my issue I don't know how to set it to read-only. I don't allow it. It's default. If I go to my table and start typing on the primary field, it'll replace it without throwing an exception. Its not a rule of thumb that the primary key should not be updated. And hence such a thing is not set by oracle. But as far as best practice is concern its good not to update a primary key.
    I just thought maybe there was a direct solution. I guess I have to just apply another step to my process. Thanks! The best way is to Design your application in such a way that it does not allow any updation on the primary key.

  • Creating an EJB that has no primary key

    I want to create an EJB for a table that has no primary key using
    J-developer but I get an error like this :
    "cmp-field of type 'java.lang.Long' does not have a no-arg constructor which is needed for properties/fields based mapping"
    How can I go on?

    Sorry primitives are NOT allowed to be primary Key candidates - OOPS!
    it looks like you may have to use String
    or provide your own Primary Key class which (perhaps) extends Long

  • Primary key allows duplicate entry in data dictionary

    Hi Friends,
                     I have created table to save contact details. here i have assigned USERID and CELL_NO as primary key but when i am trying to create new entry it allows duplicate value. How can i prevent this ?
    Please review my attached image for more details.
    Thank you Friends.

    Hi Karthi,
                  I think table logic is correct. it mean if you entered both primary key same only it wont allow but here you mentioned same cell no but different ID so it will accepts.
    E.g
         cell no 1234
         user id  xxx
         cell no 1234
        user  id xxx
    above logic wont allows
    but you mentioned
    cell no 1234
    user id xxx
    cell no 1234
    user id xyz
    if you need to remove duplicates mean you should maintain primary key as cell no only not both..
    revert back if you didnt get clear.

  • Hacking application id equals() to allow more than one row per "primary key"

    I have a read only entity whose primary key is not the real primary key
    on the underlying table. The result is that I get more than one row per
    "primary key". This is what I want. However KODO will not allow me do
    it, because I am storing the collection in a HashSet() and the equals()
    method on the application id object ensures that this set contains no
    duplicates (as defined by the application id). At least thats how it
    seems to behave.
    So, I have hacked the equals() method to do this:
    public boolean equals (Object ob)
    if (this == ob)
    return true;
    // Doing this because we expect more than one row from
    // REF_CODES for the same domain/shortCode combination.
    // This is ok to do (I guess?) as long as we are only
    // doing selects using this class.
    return false;
    Will this hack have any side effects? Is there another option? Like
    using a list collection? Is so, which collections are supported?
    Thanks,
    Mike.

    The "primary key" I am using it already a compound key of two columns.
    The real key on the underlying table is a three column key. But the
    problem is that the table represents two different application level
    entities. I could deal with it when I was hand-writing SQL (I could do
    a distinct for example) but now I am relying on foreign key
    relationships since I moved to JDO. Not sure what to do. Best solution
    is to rework the table, but there is a lot of legacy code (that other
    teams use and maintain) relying on this table. I guess I'll use the
    weekend for inspiration ;-)

    Please refer to your Configuration Manager documentation, SQL Server documentation, or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information.
    When looking up the deployment ID and recreate the Deployment the problem is solved. But I have 700 packages and don't want to manually do this action on all packages. I think it is related to the migration i did and something went wrong there :-(
    Besides it will retriggers the deployment to the clients which is also not preferred.
    Is there another way to solve this by e.e.g do something directly in the SQL database tables ?

    Hi,
    It is not supported by Microsoft that do something directly in SQL database.
    If you want to do that, you could make a call to CSS.

  • Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint . Cannot insert duplicate key in object

    hi i am using SQL Server, when i try to insert data from my jsp page it is inserting the data double time and when i try to submit for second time it is showing the following error.
    Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_EMPLOYEE'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'EMPLOYEE'.
    I didnt set identity for primary key. If i try to set identity to true then it is allowing data to submit only if i uncheck my primary key column in cached row set. And if i uncheck that primary key element then i can not retrieve the data by edit button. So how to solve this problem.

    Hi,
    I am providing support to one of our clients, where we have jobs scheduled to load the data from the tables in the source database to the destination database via SSIS packages. The first time load is a full load where we truncate all the tables in the destination
    and load them from the source tables. But from the next day, we perform the incremental load from source to destination, i.e., only modified records fetched using changed tracking concept will be loaded to the destination. After full load, if we run the incremental
    load, the job is failing with the error on one of the packages "Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint. Cannot insert duplicate key in object '<tablename>'. The duplicate key value is <1234>, even though there are no duplicate records. When we
    try debugging and running the failing package, it runs successfully. We are not able to figure out why the package fails and when we run the next day it runs successfully. Request you to help me in this regard.
    Thank you,
    Bala Murali Krishna Medipally.
    I suspect you are trying to insert modified records instead of updating.

  • In which case composite primary key allows NULL values in it

    Hi to all
    In what case composite primary key allows nulls in it.
    Let us suppose, I created a composite primary key with 2 attributes.
    CREATE TABLE sample
    BNK_Id NUMBER(6),
    BNK_Name VARCHAR2(20),
    CONSTRAINT BNK_Id_Name_PK PRIMARY KEY(BNK_Id,BNK_Name)

    Are you sure that your instructor was not talking about unique keys? As Solomon said, a primary key always implies not null on all of the columns of the PK. However a unique key does not automatically imply not null, and can have nulls in a column as long as the values in the populated columns are unique.
    SQL> create table test (
      2     id number,

  • Duplicate record with same primary key in Fact table

    Hi all,
       Can the fact table have duplicate record with same primary key . When i checked a cube i could see records with same primary key combination but the key figure values are different. My cube has 6 dimentions (Including Time,Unit and DP) and 2 key figures. So 6 fields combined to form the composite primary key of the fact table. When i checked the records in se16 i could see duplicate records with same primary key. Ther are no parallel loading happening for the cube.
    BW system version is 3.1
    Data base is : Oracle 10.2
    I am not sure how is this possible.
    Regards,
    PM

    Hi Krish,
       I checked the datapacket dimention also. Both the record have same dimention id (141). Except the Keyfigure value there is no other change in the Fact table record.  I know this is against the basic DBMS primary key rule. But i have records like this in the cube.
    Can this situation arise when same records is there in different data packet of same request.

  • How to handle duplicate Primary Key entries in the Source data

    This is my first experience with ODI.
    I receive Source data from the customer that includes a one letter designation, ACTION_CODE, in each record of data as to the disposition of the record:
    ‘R’ represents Re-issue in which case I’m to modify the corresponding Target record based on the Primary Key.
    ‘N’ represents an Insert in which case I’m to insert a new record into the Target.
    ‘D’ represents a delete in which case I’m to delete the record with the corresponding Primary Key from the Target.
    The Source data comes in an XML file and the Target is an Oracle DB.
    I have chosen the IKM Oracle Incremental Update (MERGE) Knowledge Module.
    I filter ACTION_CODE to just collect records that are ‘N’ or ‘R’ and I exclude the ACTION_CODE from the mapping but since within the same Source
    set there may be an ‘N’ and ‘R’ with the same primary key I receive Primary Key errors.
    Should I alter CKM to not check for duplicates in the Source?
    Is there a better way?

    Ganesh,
    Identifying Duplicates is a logical activity.  More or less it need Manual intervention to judge both the records means common.  if few unique paramenters like Telephone, Pincode, SSN, passport no etc can be used on filters for searching the records.  Currently there are no automatic method to identify the duplicates.  In MDM 5.5 SP04 which is next release there will be auto de-duplicate facility based on tresholeds and matching criteria that you will setup.
    I hope i have answered your query transparently. if you have any queries futher you can reply here.

    Hello experts,
    I have 4 fields in my UDT(user defined table) namely MANDT, ZEVENT, ZRECIPIENT and ZEMAIL.
    Now, Only MANDT is the primary key. My question is, how can I insert duplicate values
    via SM30?
    Again, thank you guys and take care!

    Hi again,
    1. open the Layout of that screen
    2. using drag&drop
       just REMOVE the field from the table control.
    3. Also
    4. In the flow logic of that screen,
       remove the line / commen it
       which has been put in CHAIN
      for eg.
       FIELD YHRT_FUNMST-FUNSORT .
    5. Activate everything
    6. try again via sm30 in new session.
    7. NOW IT WILL WORK. I JUST TRIED IT.

  • JPA: Attr ... mapped to a primary key column in the DB. Update not allowed.

    Let me just say that I posted a bug report for this here:
    https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3937
    But I'm also posting the info here, so that people who search on this forum may get some help:
    TopLink (both Essentials and 11g) has a problem with flushing entities
    containing a self-reference relationship. When flushing, the following exception
    occurs:
    Exception [TOPLINK-7251] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b14-fcs
    (12/17/2007))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.ValidationException
    Exception Description: The attribute [id] of class [test.jpa.entities.Person] is
    mapped to a primary key column in the database. Updates are not allowed.
    No manual updates have been made to ANY primary key.
    What I'm doing is:
    1. I instantiate a new entity.
    2. I start a transaction
    3. I persist the new entity.
    4. I read an existing entity from the DB.
    5. I let the existing entity point to the new entity via the self-reference
    relationship.
    6. I flush the persistence context.
    7. I issue commit(), and the exception occurs. (I have provided the stack traces for various versions of TopLink below.)
    This is a clear bug.
    Here are some additional observations:
    1. Reproduced on the following versions of TopLink:
    1.1. Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0 (Build b58g-fcs (09/07/2007))
    1.2. Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b14-fcs (12/17/2007))
    1.3. Oracle TopLink - 11g Technology Preview 3 (11.1.1.0.0) (Build 071214)
    2. Reproducible both on Java SE and Java EE. (I tested on Oracle Application Server)
    3. Reproducible with and without class weaving
    4. Reproducible regardless of whether the JPA annotations are on fields or on
    methods
    5. Reproducible regardless of whether "cascade={CascadeType.PERSIST}" is used or
    not.
    6. Reproducible regardless of the fetch type of the self-reference relationship
    (EAGER or LAZY).
    Also:
    1. Without flushing, the bug doesn't occur. That is, if I commit without
    flushing, it works.
    2. Without setting the self-reference relationship, the bug doesn't occur.
    This is an issue that appears when using BOTH self-reference relationship AND
    flushing.
    Best regards,
    Bisser
    The message was edited by bisser:
    Added info that the exception occurs "when I issue commit()" on step 7.

    I'm extremely surprised that you couldn't reproduce the error. It's reproduced each time when I run the Test Scenario that I described above.
    You could download a sample Eclipse project that reproduces the error from here: https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3937
    For the log below I used TopLink, version: Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0 (Build b58g-fcs (09/07/2007)).
    Could you, please, tell me what version you use and I will try the Test Case on it.
