SQLLDR: Setting oracle apps context before calling sqlldr

Hi,
I am on oracle apps 11.5.10. We are calling FND apis like fnd_global.user_id within control file to get current user etc.. SQLLDR is called from host based concuurent program(shell script). Since context is not set in host program when we call plsql packages so FND apis global value returns -1.
Is there a way we can set the context or make FND APIS return value as if we are calling from PLSQL concurrent program.
Thanks much.

not that i'm aware of. Maybe you can use external table(s) instead?

    I am trying to call a stored procedure using Oracle Apps Adapter . MY JCA settings are as following.
    <endpoint-interaction portType="AppsService_ptt" operation="AppsService">
    <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.apps.AppsStoredProcedureInteractionSpec">
    <property name="IRepInternalName" value="PLSQL:AP_VENDOR_SITES_PKG:INSERT_ROW"/>
    <property name="SchemaName" value="APPS"/>
    <property name="PackageName" value="AP_VENDOR_SITES_PKG"/>
    <property name="ProcedureName" value="INSERT_ROW"/>
    <property name="Username" value="sysadmin"/>
    <property name="Responsibility" value="System Administrator"/>
    </interaction-spec>
    <output/>
    </endpoint-interaction>
    But when I invoke this in logs it gives following error...
    Exception occured when binding was invoked.
    Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'AppsService' failed due to: Apps Context Error.
    Error occurred while setting up Apps Context.
    Context parameters should be valid.
    Contact oracle support if error is not fixable.
    The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception.
    Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution."

    Hello ,
    I am facing the same problem. How did you solve the same?? Please help.
    Thanking you

  • Setting oracle apps  appscontext (user/organization/responsibility) in ODI

    Hi All - Is there anyway we can setup appscontext (used in oracle applications/ebs suite) (user id/organization id/responsibility) before executing any stored procedures from ODI. This can be achieved in BPEL. We can set these as properties for oracle apps adapter (in BPEL) which will inturn execute our stored procedures. How do we achieve this in ODI?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I found this in my notes:
    To set the ORG_ID (Business Group) in a SQL*Plus session, use the following anonymous PL/SQL block:
    BEGIN
    fnd_client_info.set_org_context('<ORG_ID>'); --ORG_ID for Business Group ID
    END;
    or even simpler:
    exec dbms_application_info.set_client_info('<ORG_ID>'); --ORG_ID for Business Group ID
    I remember using it in order to be able to query on some Views that don't display any record, as they are based on the Business Group you are logged to. Once I used the EXEC.... command in SQL*Plus, the view displayed the corresponding information.
    Try researching if package DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO could be used to set the ORGANIZATION_ID (to identify the Organization or Plant). Note that ORGANIZATION_ID is different than ORG_ID (ORG_ID is used to identify the Business Group).
    Hope this helps.
    By the way, please reply back with what you find and tell us if it worked and how you used it.
    Regards,
    Ramon

    Now looking to troubleshoot this Timed out issue.
    i, Does this need to increase any configuration file timeout parameter on EBS Adapter or other component ?
    Any suggessions to fix/towards resolution is appricated.
    Thanks,
    sgaraga

    After increasing sync-time-out and global transaction time out to 1800. Issue is still reported.
    We are not using the jdbc pool.
    Still not sure what we are missing here and running into this:
    WSIFInvocationHandler::invoke> invoke failed
    org.collaxa.thirdparty.apache.wsif.WSIFException: exception during SOAP invoke: Timed out; nested
    exception is:
    javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException: Timed out
    In addition:
    ========
    Tested calling this PL/SQL API (exactly the same API CALLED in BPEL) in TOAD and this ran for 20 mts in DB.
    With the changes(sync-time-out,global transaction time,hpptd.conf, and transaction-manager.xml ) in SOA configuration then we are getting the exception ..
    So, we need help with SOA configuration to get the BPEL service working when the API called within BPEL service is taking approximately 20 mts.

  • Timeout when calling Oracle Apps Adapter API calls.

    1) Create a Oracle Apps Adapter to execute a API call that returns, in our case, customer data.
    2) Create a BPEL Which invokes this API based Adapter via. a partner link.

    A) Posts the following errors for calls which take ~ >5, transaction is timeout, when invoked from BPEL/ESB/SOAP UI Client.

    After increasing sync-time-out and global transaction time out to 1800. Issue is still reported.
    We are not using the jdbc pool.
    Still not sure what we are missing here and running into this:

    In addition:

    Tested calling this PL/SQL API (exactly the same API CALLED in BPEL) in TOAD and this ran for 20 mts in DB.
    With the changes(sync-time-out,global transaction time,hpptd.conf, and transaction-manager.xml ) in SOA configuration then we are getting the exception ..
    So, we need help with SOA configuration to get the BPEL service working when the API called within BPEL service is taking approximately 20 mts.

  • ORDS 3.0 - How to set VPD Context before executing SQL Template?

    I need to set a couple of attributes in an Oracle Session Context before the SQL/PLSQL template handler is executed, as we rely on Oracle VPD/Row-Level-Security for the data access.
    Is there a hook/functionality in ORDS 3.0 where I can register a PL/SQL (e.g. set_security_context(authenticated_user)) procedure, so this 'set_security_context' procedure is executed before and for each execution of a SQL/PLSQL template handler?

    I tried to log the request at Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) but I could only start a new discussion: Possibility to register Pre-/Post-Procedures for an SQL Template Handler
    As I mentioned there, the PL/SQL handler approach works for me as long as I have no or only little data to send back to the client (e.g. put/post/delete succeeded or an error message why the call failed).
    If I need to return a lot of data from the PL/SQL handler I would need to, as far as I understand, to marshal the data to JSON and write it to the response body in the PL/SQL handler.
    I don't want to do the marshaling, because ORDS does it better.
    However, this works for me:
    I write a pipelined stored procedure that takes as input the attributes I need to set in the session context. I then can reference it in the SQL handler:
    select * from table(my_pipelined_function(:USER, ....)
    Now the JSON/HTTP response is created by ORDS again.
    I still needed to code a couple of lines, but it is way better than duplicating the functionality already existing in ORDS.
    With the hooks it would be perfect because I would not have to write any code (apart from the procedure to set the session context attributes), just configure the REST services in ORDS.

  • Capturing error messages from Oracle EBS APIs when using Oracle Apps Adapter

    We are using Oracle applications adapter to call Oracle EBS (both R11.5 and R12) APIs. I want to understand the best practice around error handling when using Oracle Apps Adapter to call Oracle EBS.
    Here are some observations:
    1. Most of the APIs return X_RETURN_STATUS and X_MSG_DATA containing the status and messages if any.
    2. If the MSG COUNT is 1 then X_MSG_DATA contains the message, if MSG COUNT is > 1. X_MSG_DATA is empty.
    We know that when calling the API directly from PL/SQL, we need to loop through FND_MSG_PUB to fetch all messages when there are more than 1. How do we achieve the same using Apps Adapter as Apps Adapter generates the PL/SQL block to call the API dynamically at runtime.
    In some APIs, which have table/rec types as input or output parameters, Apps Adapter generates a wrapper package to do conversion from SQL--> PL/SQL and viceversa. In this case the adapter calls the custom package generated which internally calls the API. For these APIs we were able to put the logic to loop through FND_MSG_PUB and return a concatenated string as value of X_MSG_DATA.
    But what should we do for the APIs which do NOT have a rec/table type as input or output, in which case the Apps Adapter directly calls the API and there is no intermediate custom package?
    How are others handling this?

  • Can we call and execute a request set using db adapter or oracle apps adapt

    Hi,
    Can we call and execute a request set(which executes a set of packages in a sequence) using db adapter or oracle apps adapter similar to calling a stored procedure and concurrent program?
    thanks,

    1) In BPEL call the DBAdapter in a sequence, make sure you set the partnerlink 'property' to transaction=participate.
    2) Or create a package that calls the other packages in a sequence

  • "random" issue calling sqlldr from pl/sql

    Oracle SE-One 11.2.0.2
    Oracle Linux 5.6 x86-64
    Given this proc:
    PROCEDURE    "SQLLDR3" (v_control_file IN varchar2)
               IS
    v_command varchar2(220) := '/u01/app/oracle/admin/control/sqlldr3.script ';
    v_sbj varchar2(90);
    c_program_name varchar2(20) := 'SQLLDR3';

            app.Log(C_PROGRAM_NAME, 'CALLING JAVA HOST_COMMAND.');
            COMMIT;
    Host_Command (p_command => v_command||v_control_file);
            app.Log(C_PROGRAM_NAME, 'RET FROM JAVA HOST_COMMAND.');
            COMMIT;
    EXCEPTION
             WHEN OTHERS THEN
             v_sbj := 'SQLLDR3 stored procedure error: '||v_control_file;
         send_email('ITdatabase@mycompany','ITdatabase@mycompany',                    v_sbj, sqlerrm);
             v_sbj := 'SQLLDR3 stored procedure error: '||v_control_file;
           send_email('ITdatabase@mycompany','dwgroup@mycompany',
                       v_sbj, sqlerrm);
    END;Host_command is simply
    PROCEDURE Host_Command (p_command  IN  VARCHAR2)
    AS LANGUAGE JAVA
    NAME 'Host.executeCommand (java.lang.String)';and I know nothing about java.
    The referenced host command 'sqlldr3.script' is a shell script that invokes sqlldr.
    The procedure is a common procedure called from several different procedures within a couple of packages
    This process is executed several dozen times every week, loading data into a data warehouse from a variety of external sources.. It is run during the week, and on weekends. It is run manually and from dbms_scheduler. It has been running flawlessly for several years.
    On May 18 I upgraded from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2
    On May 25 a scheduled job at 0630 hung in the above procedure. The last successful execution had been just one hour prior. All executions over the weekend hung and the loads had to be managed manually to meet the business requirement. The first execution after midnight Sunday (early Monday morning) executed properly. The same pattern repeated this last weekend.
    In trying to narrow it down, I added some "we made it to here" type messages to the shell script that actually called sqldr, as well as the references to 'app.log' immediately preceding and following the call to host_command. app.log is a common procedure that writes a message to a program log table. In the case of the shell script, one of the tracing messages was the very last statement executed by the script.
    What we observed was that we got the program log message immediately preceding the host call, and we got all of the messages from the shell script, indicating that sqlldr itself executed with a rc=0, and the shell script executed cleanly. But we did not get the program log message immediately following the return from the host command. It was at that point that the procedure was hung and had to be killed.
    I found note 757524.1 which looks very promising, and I have modified the shell script accordingly -- adding 'silent=feedback' to the sqlldr command.
    What leaves us really scratching our heads is the fact that the problem only occurs (so far) during a given time window. Even during that window, it does not occur on a test database that is an rman duplicate of the prod db. This is very obscure, but thought it worth tossing out to see if anyone has any ideas off the top of their head.
    In order to eliminate some if the interfaces I am going to replace the calls to sqlldr with external tables, but would still like to find an answer to "WHY", if possible.

    Billy  Verreynne  wrote:
    Do you have Grid Infrastructure running (for ASM for example)?
    If GI starts the database instance, or a GI listener creates the dedicated server process, then the actual o/s user for an external process created by a database Java procedure, is grid and not oracle. Which can cause environment and permission problems as the expectation is that it will execute as the server process owner, oracle.
    Another potential issue is environment inheritance. The external process created, inherits its environment from its parent process (who in turn in a background spawned server process that also inherited its environment).
    Also, as a Listener can start a dedicated server process, a dedicated server process can have a different environment from a shared server process (created when the instance originally started). After all, the Listener can be bounced and at that time get a different/newer environment than database shared server processes, job processes, and so on.
    Which means different results when executing external stuff via Java as environments can differ from db session to db session.
    Two things to keep in mind. These environments are static and could also be stale. For example, it will be unaware of o/s group changes, despite being created after those o/s changes are made - as it inherits an environment that existed prior to those changes being made.
    Second thing to keep in mind is not to trust the inherited environment to be sane for the executable you want to run in that Java created external process. Never mind that it could be stale. You have no idea what environment the parent process passed to this external child process - and it could contain stuff that can break the executable you want to run in this external process.
    For these reasons I never execute an executable directly via a Java stored proc call. I use a 2 step approach. UTL_FILE creates a shell script with the external command to execute. The Java stored proc executes it. The shell script sets the environment to what is expected - and the external command is executed using that environment.
    I actually do more than this - shell script permissions/group ownership is changed and it is executed as another o/s user. This secures the database/grid o/s users as external commands are executed as another user. Kind of like the approach used by scheduler for external application jobs. Execution is done via ssh and trusted keys - the other user who the commands are run as, trusts ssh localhost connections from oracle/grid.
    The main thing though that makes this approach works though is that the Java stored proc executes a self-rolled external shell script containing the external command(s) to execute. Controlling the execution environment is important.Thanks for the response, Billy.
    Yes, this is an ASM database, but (fwiw) stand-alone -- no cluster, no RAC.
    If I follow you correctly, it sounds like we're already taking care of everything you mention. The java procedure ("Host_Command") takes its input argument as an os command and executes it. In this case, that command is the name of a shell script, so "host_command" is not executing sqlldr (directly) but is executing a shell script that "just happens" to be calling sqlldr. Yes, just like we do for cron jobs, that script insures it has set all necessary environment variables. It sets some basic ones, then sources oraenv to get the oracle environment correct. And the shell script itself always processes correctly as evidenced by the trace messages I added, always exits cleanly. The problem occurs somewhere in the crack between the shell script exit and control coming back into the PL/SQL procedure that called 'host_command'. And so far it only occurs between 0630 on Saturdays and 2359 on Sundays. That time window is the really bizarre part of it. Exact same code, any other time, works as expected.
    As luck would have it, we implemented the suggestion from note 757524.1 (adding 'silent=feedback' to the sqlldr command string) on Sunday afternoon, and the one job that started after that still hung.

    i am not very much sure whether all CTL option are available in the external table.Before you decide on the method you should clearly understand the following. SQL*Loader is client side tool while job and external table are server side tools. Therefore, unless you are connecting to oracle from database server or file you are loading is accessible from database server, neither job nor external table will help you. And now back to your question - yes, not all SQL*Loader features are available for external tables but most of the time there is a way around it.

  • CSD_RULE_MATCH_FAILED-calling service request api from oracle apps adapter

    We are doing integration between Siebel and Oracle Apps. When a service request is created on Siebel we are passing that in Oracle Apps using Oracle Apps adapter which is calling a custom API which is doing all the validations and in turn is calling a public api for service request creation. There are two types of service requests - Field Service and Depot Repair. For Field Service we are able to successfully insert the data on Oracle Apps, but for Depot Repair we are getting an error 'CSD CSD_RULE_MATCH_FAILED' from the standard API.
    We have checked the setup and found it is proper. We invoked the pl/sql API from sql developer and we are able to insert the data. So we are facing this issue only when calling the api from oracle apps adapter.
    In the invoke call we have set these properties -
    jca.apps.RespApplication
    jca.apps.Responsibility
    jca.apps.Username
    Based on our analysis till now it is looking like a security context setup issue, but we are not really sure what properties to set.
    Any help in getting this through will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shantanu

    Hi Vijay,
    We have created the apps adapter with default settings as 'apps' user and set the properties Responsibility, RespApplication, Username of <invoke>. Other than that no other settings has been changed.
    Are we missing anything?
    This adapter is able to hit the database in case of 'Field Service' but it is failing for 'Depot Repair'.

    Hello.
    I am trying to run sqlldr from a form using the host procedure.
    The problem is that the sqlldr never runs...
    If I try to run the command manually everything works ok.
    Code from the form:
    V_NAME := 'FACTURACAO.CMD';
    V_HANDLE_C := UTL_FILE.FOPEN ( V_PATH, V_NAME, 'w' );
    UTL_FILE.PUT_LINE ( V_HANDLE_C, 'SET PATH=%PATH%;c:\oracle\ora817\bin' );

    UTL_FILE.FCLOSE ( V_HANDLE_C );
    /* Launch SQLLoader to import the file */
    HOST ( V_PATH || '\FACTURACAO.CMD ');
    The batch file appears to be correct and if we try to run it in the command prompt everything is executed correctly.

    I have tried it.
    It appears that sqlldr is called but nothing happens.
    It works if I try to execute "cmd /c file.bat" from the command prompt.
