'sqlplus' is not recognized in Oracle 11g

Hi Experts,
I have installed Oracle 11g with OWB, I can't Connect databse through Command prompt and it show the error like
"'sqlplus' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
Please Help me how to resolve.

It may cause of Environmental variable is not declared / removed
For Oracle 10g
Start > My Computer > Right Click > Properties Then System Properties window will been displayed.
At the System Properties, click Advanced Tab > Environment Variable Pop up Environment Variable will been displayed.
Then at the System Variable, search variable PATH and click Edit / If PATH is not available then Click on New -> Variable Name PATH and then paste the location bin file like this ;
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\bin
For Oracle 11g
Start > My Computer > Right Click Mouse > Properties
Then Advanced System Setting -> System Properties will been displayed.

oops, I think SQLPLUS is not installed on this server with the client installation. Because I cannot see sqlplus.exe in BIN directory.
This was installed long back.
Can anyone tell me how to install only SQLPLUS into this client?

Hi,
Once you installed the Forms and Reports, you need to configure the paramters like tnsnames.ora in you path.
There will be one folder in the Installation path of Forms and Reports search for tnsnames.ora file..and you need to Updated the file as per the which ORACLE Server you are connecting and then try.. it..
Default path for forms will be "ORACLE_HOME/net80/admin".. search for tnsnames.ora and modify it..

Sql Developer not connecting to Oracle 11g

i have
windows 7 ultimate 64bit
Oracle 11g 64bit
Sql Developer 3
on same machine i have created Tow Database on 11g :
ORCL
ORCL2
when it was ORCL only everything was Okay
but recently i have created another database ORACL2
then it stop connecting with database through SQL DEveloper
shows error;

For this, you need to start the service (and you should be installed 11g Database, not client) as follows:

CRS not starting after Oracle 11g Grid was succesuflly installed

Hi:
Have 2 node RAC. My Shared storage is on openfiler.
Oracle 11g Grid was successfully installed and all the services was working fine. When i restarted the system I found CRS was not coming up. Remaining processes were up and running.
Let me explain what I did: (O/s RHEL 5.4 & oracle 11g R2 grid)
I have a partition in shared disk /dev/sdc1 (I have other partitions, but thought of using only one for OCR and voting disk). (did not define it as raw partition as I used to do in 10g RAC).
While installing Oracle grid and when it prompted to enter the Diskgroup for OCR and Voting disk I gave a name DGDATA and choose only one (external redundancy) disk “/dev/sdc1″ (it does not ask for one for OCR and one for Voting as it used to do in 10g clusterware installation). As per my assumption both OCR and Voting disk were created within /dev/sdc1 (after installation when I queried I got the same info)
The Oracle grid installation has gone through successfully. when I restart the system I find CRS not starting.
The log says: “Error PROC:26: Error while accessing the physical storage ASM……..
ORA-01034: oracle not available...
Could not init OCR, code:26….
Linux permission denied".
For your information….ASM instance is up (check in both the nodes) and I find the diskgroup mounted.
Can anyone help on this.
Also let me know how to uninstall Oracle 11g Grid software and configuration. If I have to reinstall the Oracle 11g grid software and config once again is it possible without reinstalling RHEL. Let me know the steps or any link please. don't want to get into a mess again.

Jorg, I even tried to nomount the DB instance using initDBRAC.ora pfile. Then tried to create spfile still got the same error.

Pro C Demo files not available in Oracle 11g

Hi
I have recently installed Oracle 11g rel1 in windows XP from downloading from oracle site. But no Pro C precompiler demo file or pcmake.bat file is installed in with this installation. As result i am not able to produce executable from .pc file. Can anyone help how i can install these files?

Pl post details of your OS and specific 11g versions. Assuming the OS is some certified version of Windows, the Pro*C/C++ compiler is a pre-req for the Oracle install. It needs to be installed separately (and before) the Oracle install.

ChangePerm.sh file does not exist in Oracle 11g installation

Hi All,
I have done successful Oracle 11g installation. After installation I noticed that Oracle 11g/installation does not have changePerm.sh file. Did anyone of you seen that?
Without executing changeperm.sh file, the binary files have 751 permission level. ChangePerm.sh script make change in file permission to 755.
Oracle support is not answering me why there was no changePerm.sh file under Oracle_home/install directory.

I'm not finding this to be the case reliably. I have both a 10G and an 11G install on one particular machine and the 11G installer initially creates the directories with a 755 permission, then right before the prompt to run root.sh, and at the same time it locks down any 10G home it finds (someone please explain that!) it locks down the 11G home too.
In true Murphy tradition, this hasn't happened on any of my testing machines, just my production.
Whatever silly contrived mechanism Oracle wrote to re-lock 10G when installing 11G is also locking down my 11G.

SCAN name could not resolve in Oracle 11g R2

Hi all,
I have a setup of 2 node with Solaris 10u8 machine for Oracle 11g R2 RAC.
I entered the scanip in windows DNS.
When i try to nslookup from solaris it is not getting resolved.But from the DNS it is getting resolved.
I have changed as nsswitch.conf file and created resolve.conf and entered the proper entries.
Please help me..

I resolved it.
Issue was my resolv.conf was named as resolve.conf.
I changed the file name as resolv.conf and the problem got solved.
Now i can resolve the scan ip through nslookup scan-name

Arabic language not displayed in Oracle 11g

Dear all,
I have problem in inserting data Arabic language into oracle database 11g.. it displays " ??????? "
I am programming a php application that insert data into oracle database, and I did as described in forums but still not working.
here is what i did:
NLS_LANG value is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256
Database character set is: AL32UTF8
Arabic language is installed in windows regional and language settings, and Arabic keyboard
HTML page character set is: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
I cant figure out whats causes the problem in my case. any help will be much appreciated.

I tried using ARABIC_UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.AR8MSWIN1256 in NLS_LANG but still the same issue,
The way am viewing the input is via Oracle Enterprise Manager.
And the way am inserting the values are via html form and php.
Also, I tried selecting data and viewing it in the browser but also show "????"
I haven't try AL32UTF8 instead of AR8MSWIN1256 yet, am gonna try and reply soon.

Create Type as Object not working in linux oracle 11g

Pleae refer to the following simple create type as object statement.
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE EC_VIEWABLETYPES as object ( CASE_TYPE_ID NUMBER)
It is working in oracle 11g and windows server 2008 environment.
But it is not working in oracle 11g with linux environment.
I am executing this statement as dynamic sql as follows
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TEMP_SP
AS
BEGIN
DECLARE vcType VARCHAR2(30);
BEGIN
SELECT OBJECT_TYPE into vcType FROM USER_OBJECTS
WHERE OBJECT_NAME='EC_VIEWABLETYPES' AND OBJECT_TYPE='TYPE';
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE EC_VIEWABLETYPES as object ( CASE_TYPE_ID NUMBER) ';

please let me know what i am missing ?

Load balancing is not happening on RAC (oracle 11g Rel 2) on Linux 5.1

Hi,
Load balancing is not happening on Oracle 11g RAC. We have defined the SCAN listener and confured the TNS accordingly. Still we get the load maximum on node2 and less load on Node1 or vice versa. Please suggest me what to do?
