Square brackets around list items

I'm seeing a square bracket after each list item that is displayed inline-block. How can I remove this? It's only happening in Firefox.

Square brackets around name of pdf preset

Hey folks, I have custom pdf presets that are used to output PDFs from Adobe InDesign CS3 on the Windows OS. These presets are in the usual default folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\ and are included with a bunch of the default settings. At any rate, when I open InDesign and choose Adobe PDF Presets from the File menu, all of the settings are visible. However, they all have square brackets around the name, [myCustomIDPDFPreset]. I expect this result from the default job options that ship with Adobe but not in my custom presets. This is an issue because our output scripts use the specific name of the preset to output PDF content so the inclusion of the square brackets causes it to fail. Any thoughts on how the custom presets can appear in the list without square brackets. This was how it worked in CS2. Thks, Wil

What are the square brackets around paragraphs and heads?

I am hoping that someon can hlep me with this topic. I can not seems to find anything on this matter.
I have recieved an InDesign file for a book that we are updating the design and content for. All the text in this file has Square brackets, at the begining and end, of each paragraph or head. I have never seen this before, coming from a Quark background.
The characters are visible in "normal mode", but they disapear when you view in "preview" mode.
Can anyone please tell me what the Square brackets around text means?

If you are using OSX this AppleScript should remove all of the XML tags, but test it carefully on a copy of the document:

Square brackets for list column validation disappear when saved

Hi,
I have a Title field which is a required field. I tried to put some user message in the Column's validation setting when the field is not filled in.
It should be very simple. But everytime after I put in the =IF([Title]<>"",TRUE,FALSE) in the Formula and save it, the Formula becomes =IF(Title<>"",TRUE,FALSE) when I come back.
The column validaton doesn't use the user message. Please advise...

Looks like the required field can't take custom user message.
It works on non-required fields.

Calculate DropDown List items values

I have 7 DDLists for the availability of the employees for 7 days the week.
DD1, DD2, DD3, DD4, DD5, DD6, DD7
The list items for all are the same:
Day, Evening, Night, N/A(Not Available)
How I can calculate in a field the Total Days of Availability
and in a separate field Total Days N/A?

A few things to correct
1) You must use square brackets -- My Fault -- not sure how that one got past me!
          DDLday[i]
2) DDLs can't have values the same for the items meaning change them to:
     0 = N/A, 1= Day, 2= Eve, 3= Nite
3) You only need the 1 script --don't place script on the NumNA field--delete that whole script
4) At the end of the script, you must reference the N/A Field correctly. You're not using the name you gave it--you're using the name I gave it so it can't find it.
     NumNA = notAvailable //Either rename the NA field to NumNA or change the script but putting the field name you're using
5) Finally, I don't remember coming accross this before, but the script needs to have the last 2 lines switched. It seems to matter.

Is it possible to hide specific custom actions from list item menu for an XSLTListView webpart using CSR... The list has some custom actions created through SPD and we wanted to hide the out of the box list item menus. Could
someone please point me to some examples.. and what would be an alternative in case this is not possible.. jquery...?

In the View Settings under the Filter option check "Show Items only when the following is true:"
Select the Expiry Date column for the "Show the items when column option".
Condition should be "is greater than", or "is greater than or equal to" if they don't expire until the end of the current day.
And for the value put [Today] including the square brackets.

Where are my missing wish list items for music?

For some reason I cannot find my entire wish list. I haven't checked all the applications but my music library is missing many wish list items I had saved to my account. I can remember some of them but I was really looking forward to saving all my interests in my account and now many of them are gone. Is there anyway to get them back?

But I'm digging around inside the package and still puzzled -- images inside the folder Aperture Library.aplibrary -> Masters -> 2009 -> 06 -> 14 -> 20090614-214439/ were indeed shot on June 14, 2009. So it appears that those various level folder names reflect image creation date, not the import date.

these various level folder names reflect what Aperture thinks are the import dates.
The "Import Session" is one of the Aperture specific Metadata tags. You can display it in the Info/Metadata pane of the Inspector Panel, if you add it to one of the presets, and then you'll know, where to search, if you absolutely must to sleep well .
You can also use this tag to search or to define a smart album. For example, the image below has been captured in 2003, but was imported in 2010, and will be found in a 2010 folder.

Changing the Modified Date of a List Item using the SharePoint Client Object Model (C#) with Contribute Permission

I have a small snippet of code that I use to update the Modified Date of a list item and it works great for users with Full Control permissions. However, for users with just Contribute access to the site the code doesn't work. Instead, SharePoint
just updates the Modified Date to now.
I did some testing, and narrowed down the specific permission level that allows updating of Modified dates and oddly enough, it's the "Manage Permissions" level.
Has anyone run into this issue? If so, how do I work around this and update the Modified date as a user with only Contribute access to a site/library?
Here's the code:

As a workaround you can pass admin credential in your code because as per my knowledge contributor can't update default columns like: created by, modified by, modified, created.

Opening an excel file from a button. square brackets in filename

Internet explorer 6. Apex 3.1
When I open an excel file (via a button) , it has the filename as follows:
production_report[1].csv
The prompt to save or open has the name as production_report.csv
This prevents people saving the opened file as square brackets are not allowed in the file name.
Is this an apex issue (ie a problem with the way I specify the filename) or a browser issue, and is there a solution?
I am passing the filename in to my excel download page using the items/values settings.
eg
ITEM P12_FILENAME
ITEM VALUE production_report.csv

Yes, It works on firefox. It is only an issue with Internet Explorer.
However our web based application has to use IE and therefore when it calls apex it is in an IE browser.
I am really just producing a csv file, and opening it in excel. If this was fixed (or customisable in some way in IE that would help)

How do I erase areas around an item in a graphic either in .tif, .jpeg,or PNG format?
That should be a simple thing to do in PSE 8 Mac or Fireworks (both up to date in a top of the line Mac Pro) right? Take the eraser erase the areas around the item you want and save the result. Or if you want to get more sophisticated you select the area with the magic wand or quick selection tool and click erase or make invisible and save. I probably can think of another way. Why in all the world, after I have gone through the above several times, do I end up with the original unaltered graphic which I imported into my webpage in Dreamweaver? Researching for answers about this for days resulted in 0! I bought 2 graphics softwares (Fireworks and PSE) that were suppose to make this easy and I really could not afford! As you can tell I am really p....

Convert list item attachment from docx to pdf using Word Automation Services

I have been trying to convert List Item attachments from docx to pdf using word automation services, it works in a normal document library but when I use the list attachment it throws a null reference error.

According to your description, my understanding is that when you use word automation service to convert Word to PDF for list item attachment, it throws the null reference error.
I suggest you can create an event receiver and convert the word to memory stream like below:

Archiving List Items

I have a filtered list setup. New entries to the list will have a sequence number followed by the year. For example: 001-15. For the filtered view, this works fine. When I click the list name and view all list items (unfiltered view), what I have in the
list is the following:
001-14
001-15
002-14
002-15
Is there a way to archive the 2014 items so they don't show up in the list?

You could modify the All Items view with a Filter where your Column contains -15
Not ideal as you would have to modify it each year. So when 2016 came around you would need to change the filter to -16.
I did try to setup a dynamic filter (but didn't work for me) where the Column contains ="-"&TEXT(NOW(),"yy")
Maybe someone else could provide you with a more dynamic way so you didn't have to modify each year.

i'm creating a list item and used as my search in all records in the database..
but my problem is my code is not working.
i have a tabular form and display a number of text item into 4.
in list item , i have list elements A,B, and C.
when i choose A.. all name like A will appear in my tabular text item
but this wont work with my code...

list box is having ALL(%), A(A), B(B), C(C), D(D), ....
(i.e. here bracket is showing values associate with that list item)
and button with trigger WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED
with code:

2. EMP:
with base table = EMP
where clause = where ename like nvl(:search.lst_e || '%', '%')
EMP columns showing details in tabular format
say one column ENAME with databse column = ename
and that's all wht u want
select your desired char from search block's list box and press button

I would like to ask you whether you know how are stored, optimalized or recalculated SQL tables where are sharepoint list items stored. I know that sharepoint has the limits how many text, number, boolean and datetimes columns can list item have to be stored
on one row in SQL table. Let's asume this scenario: I have large list, more than 50 thousand items, and I have more columns in each item, so each item is stored on 3 rows in SQL table. When the list had few items, everything was smooth, now every operation
with this list take too long so I would like to optimize the list. I can delete some unnecessary columns to satisfy the limits for storing items on one row in SQL table. Will it help to new added items? Will it help to old items which are already stored in
list and are on 3 rows in SQL? Will be this items recalculated in SQL, or is there any option how can I manage this??

Hello, thank you for you answer and interest in my problem. My list, isn't so small, it has about 180 columns and more than 50 000 items. I have taken this project after my friend who doesn't follow list recomandations and everything worked smooth around
25 000 items, since than is working with the list rapidly slowing down. Now I need to optimize it. Yes i have increased lookup treshold and I know that queries aren't ideal, but I can not optimize them any more. And from your article I have more than 24 DateTime
fields so I guess I am wrapping it to three lines. So I would like to delete some unnecessary colums at first and try to get to at least two lines, wheather it helps a bit. Dont worry, I wont modify the tables directly in SQL :-)

How to prevent RSS Viewer web part from overriding list-item CSS style?

I am using SharePoint Online. I have a web part page with a number of web parts with links. Font size of the links is ~12px.
If I add an RSS Viewer web part to the page, then it overrides the 'list-item' class CSS Style to something like 8px, which is unreadable.
To correct this I have tried the following:
1. Added the following code to a Script Editor Web Part on same page:

2. Completely deleted all XSL from the RSS Viewer web part and replaced it with very simple formatting code which format the links within the RSS web part to 16px - but still the other links are set to 8px.
3. Linked a custom style sheet to the relevant master page and set the link-item classes in there, ensuring that it is executed after the standard SharePoint css.
...but nothing works!
It appears that, as soon as the RSS Viewer web part is added to the page it overrides the list-item style and then will not release it even if all the XSL within the web part is deleted!
On deleting the RSS Viewer from the page and saving it, the links font size returns to normal.
Does anyone have a fix/work around for this?

I recommend to use “.link-item a” instead as the code below to change the font size of the links:

And I tested the code above in my environment and it worked fine.
