SRW224G4P IGMP Support

I choose to buy a SRW224G4P with this documentation:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/csbms/srw248g4p/administration/guide/SRW224G4P-248G4P_User_Guide.pdf
On this documentation, the switch is able to use IGMP v3 and IGMP querier:
p99:  IGMP Version
Sets the protocol version for compatibility with other devices on the network. All systems on the subnet must support the same version. Also note that some attributes are only enabled for IGMPv2 and/or v3, including Act as IGMP Querier, IGMP Report Delay and IGMP Query Timeout. (Range: 1-3; Default: 2)
The switch that I receive is note able to do this.
The version of the firmware describe in this documentation is:
p32: Firmware Version 1.2.4 Aug 27 2008
And my switch has the version 1.0.2 which is the only available on the Cisco website at
http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/PlatformList.x?sftType=WebView+Managed+Switch+Firmware&mdfid=282414072&treeName=Switches&mdfLevel=Model&url=null&modelName=Cisco+SRW224G4P+24-port+10%2F100+%2B+4-port+Gigabit+Switch+-+WebView%2FPoE&isPlatform=N&treeMdfId=268438038&modifmdfid=null&imname=&hybrid=Y&imst=N
Where can I find this new firmware?
I bought this switch for a VOD network, and I really need this features.
Thanks for your help

Hi
Got a few questions regarding your posting.
I am using RFC 4541 as a reference.
Section 2.1.1 : IGMP forwarding rules mentions ;
A snooping switch should forward IGMP Membership Reports only to those ports where multicast routers are attached.
This statement brings up a interesting  point as to what is your Layer 3 querier or router  in this test network, and I guess
you must have a router in the mix of equipment?
On My network, I have my SRW2008P connected to my UC520 (only 8 user
SKU).  My Layer 3 UC520 is my IGMP router and  querier.
My concern here is understanding which streams have registered via sending a
join with  group membership with a Layer 3 Querier, your router.
If a set top box has sent a membership report or  join to a particular group then other switch ports on the SRW224G4P
will not receive the flood of that multicast stream.
But if no one has joined the stream that is flooded into that switch , as the RFC suggests on page 6 section 3 "
“A switch may default to forwarding unregistered packets on all ports."
So having pasted that for your reference, I checked out the behavior in my test network.
I had setup four streams from my Multicast IP TV server.
These four  streams just blasted into the switch  with  no  membership query or joins from  my set top box
and a result they were flooded to my ethereal PC on a separate switch port.
This is expected behaviour.
My set top box joined a 4th stream, at that point  my SRW2008P switch stopped the flow of that stream to my ethereal PC.
Or  in other words my SRW2008P igmp snooping  module made that intelligent decision to
stop the flow of that 4th stream to my PC.  This PC being on a separate switch port compared to my set top box.
To better understand what is going on I need to know more about your test environment, but this behaviour follows the RFC mentioned..
But does this default behavior sound familiar, i just don;t have enough information to check what might be happening on your system.

  • Network Load Blaancing within a CRM Dynamics 2011 implementation

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on this topic. We have implemented Microsft NLB to be used with our implementation of CRM Dynamics.
Basically we host all servers within a single VLAN within our network. This has included all the CRM servers that are within the clusters.
We have set NLB to use Multicast and effectively made manual ARP entries on our core cisco switches so that client requests know how to route to the NLB cluster.
Basically we have experienced some issues whereby we have had network flooding to all ports on our switch (Other servers on the server VLAN are on the same VLAN as the CRM servers). This has had an impact on performance of other applications.
So my questino to everyone is whether we should be using unicast, multicast or IGMP multicast? No one can really explain to use what the setting should be to eliminate the possbility of affecting other services within our environment.
    Alan Pang

    IGMP Multicast.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731616.aspx : The
IGMP multicast check box enables IGMP support for limiting switch flooding by limiting traffic to "Network Load Balancing ports" only. That is, enabling IGMP support ensures that traffic intended for an NLB cluster
passes through only those ports serving the cluster hosts and not all switch ports.
The switcht know what MAC are behing what port on the switch, so it multicast in a intelligent's way.
On the other way, you really can't isolate those CRM's server ?
If it disconnect ICA session, does that mean you are hosting desktop on that VLAN ? So it's Desktop <-> Remote Computer or ThinClient ?
If yes, it's kinda easy to re-allocate then to a new VLAN, as your DDC make all the brokering. Just use ListOfDDCs registry in worst case.

  • Protocols for switches 300 series and 500 series

These protocols are supported by switches of the 300 series and 500 series?
    TCP
    UDP/Unicast
    UDP/Multicast
    UPnP
    RTCP
    RTSP
    Thanks

    Dear Alejandro,
If you mean weather the switch can pass through these protocols the answer is a definite yes. If you meant something else can you please describe what you meant?
For example TCP is supported in a manner that it can filter trafic based on TCP port (Layer 3+ functionality), so can it do for UDP. Multicast is also handled via IGMP support. Regarding RTCP and RTSP how / for what  would you use it?
    Thanks and regards,

  • Does the Catalyst 2960x-48TD support Cisco's IGMP Snooping MIB?

Does the Catalyst 2960x-48TD support Cisco's IGMP Snooping MIB?  We have a number of switches from different vendors and have recently begun switching to Cisco's, however unlike the other brands I am unable to audit the IGMP Snooping settings via SNMP.  It appears that while the switch supports IGMP Snooping it does not support the CISCO MIB for IGMP Snooping.  Is this a known bug and is it fixed in any of the later releases?
Our company is purchasing and deploying C2960X-48TD's and I am tasked with updating our system audit software

    Hi Sean,
Nov 21 15:40:42.390: %MCAST-SPSTBY-6-ETRACK_STATS_LIMIT_EXCEEDED: Number of entries in IGMP snooping explicit-tracking statistics has exceeded the maximum limit (32000)
The above log message is written because the number of explicit-tracking statistics entries is bounded to avoid monopolizing of system resources by IGMP/MLD snooping. The explicit-tracking statistics database maximum size is set to the same as that of explicit-tracking limit.
The statistics are split into two banks: permanent and volatile. The statistics entries will be stored permanently (volatile) until the permanent entries threshold is reached, after which the statistics will be stored temporarily up to the database maximum size. When the size of the database exceeds the permanent threshold, a group will be removed on receiving an IGMP/MLD leave. Groups can be removed whether they were installed above or below the permanent threshold. If the number of statistics entries grows beyond the maximum size of the database, then no statistics will be stored for any newly formed groups.
You can disable ip igmp snooping explicit-tracking by the following
    1) Configure "no ip igmp snooping explicit-tracking"
    2) Configure "ip igmp snooping limit track 0" on global.
    3) After ET is disabled, please do a "clear ip igmp snooping statistics".

  • IGMP v3 support in Solaris

Does anybody know the status of igmp v3 in solaris 10? Will it be supported or not?
    Thanx,
    Vik

So where is the LINUX support in the new Solaris 10?It does not exist (at least not outside of Sun).
There are rumours that it will be available in one of the Solaris
10 update releases. In case S10 FCS will be available in
january/february 2005, and the rumour are true, I'd expect that
the linux support will be available somewhere in june 2005 (??
    S10 Update 1) or october 2005 (?? S10 Update 2). (Pure
speculation be me, I don't know the schedule)
I downloaded the free Software Express for Solaris
x86 Platform (11/04) and installed it on a Dell 8600
P4 1.8 system. Fresh install on a new hard drive.
Then I tried to install the new FireFox web browser
r for Linux. Why didn't you download/install the firefox for Solaris x86
release? Or was that intended as a test for "Janus", the
(non existing) linux compatibility layer in Solaris 10?

  • RA6700/WUMC710: Multicast IGMP V2 support?

    Dear readaers and supporters
I hope to be able to use this setup of devices on a friends place. The use IPTV which is a multicast stream over IGMP V2/3.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any notes and specifications on both products support web pages.
Can either Linksys/Cisco supporter(s) or users useing this setup provide me with informations that this is running and working without problems or give me any kind of suggestions?
The final setup should look like this:
    VDSL-ISDN Modem --> EA6700 <---> WUMC710 --> Setop Box --> HDMI LCD TV
Thank you in advance for anyones help and suggestions.
    Have a great time

  • Wireless bridge supporting igmp

Has anybody got suggestions for a wireless bridge I can use on my youview setup.
Tried a few 18 months ago, iplayer and nowtv worked but not IP channels.
At the time I suspected it was down to incorrect igmp routing, my powerline setup is becoming problematic so I'm returning to a wireless solution
Does anyone have a confirmed working wireless solution with ALL the ip facilities of youview including premium IP channels?
My router is an older style bt homehub
    Ta
    Steve

the reason why this doesnt work is that a BT HH3 doesnt pass IGMP/multicast packets onto the wireless AP.
The supposed reason being that multicast could swamp the wireless network.
It doesnt matter what client one uses, if IGMP packets arent passed to the wireless AP (by the router) then would wont be able to use youview wirelessly.
by "use" I mean IPTV multicast channels (essentials BT sport etc) NOT iplayer of nowtv.
anybody claiming to have IPTV channels working with a HH3 over wirelss is telling porkies, unless they know something that I dont.

  • Voice VLAN with SRW224G4P

    Hi all,
I have been trying to config a voice vlan into this switchs for the last 3 hours and for me this is impossible... I know how to do in a IOS switch but with this switchs is a nightmare...
    I have this topology,
    PC ---- IP phone ----- SW1 SRW224G4P -------- SWCORE SRW2024 --------- Router 2921 CME
I have this config in my router,
    interface GigabitEthernet0/0

    duplex auto
    speed auto
    interface GigabitEthernet0/0.1
    description LAN

    ip address 192.168.251.1 255.255.255.0
    ip virtual-reassembly in
SW1 has created the VLAN 100 and enabled as VOICE VLAN
The first 3 octes of the mac of my phone is inserted into Telephony OUI Table
The Auto Voice VLAN Membership is enabled in the port where phone is attached.
The port that is conected to SWCORE has the vlan 100 configured as tagged.
SWCORE has created the VLAN 100 and enabled as VOICE VLAN
The port that is conected to SW1 has the vlan 100 configured as tagged.
The port that is conected to router CME has the vlan 100 configured as tagged.
If I config other port into SWCORE with VLAN 100 tagged I can ping from CME to that host.
Could be the problem a vlan propagation error?
Somebody could help me? I am desperate...
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi David,
Thank you for the purchase of the switch.
.Like anything,  even riding a bike,  the switch is actually very easy to configure, if you have a little bit of practice on it..
You mentioned you are using the " Telephony OUI Table" i guess you have a SF300-24P or ordering p/n SRW224G4P-K9-NA.  Please be specific with the switch models you are using.
Are you using the older SRW series or the refreshed SRWxxx-K9 (300 series) switch in the core?
Firstly, make sure you are using version 1.1.0.73 of the switch firmware. Do that change now or verify that 1.1.0.73 is the active image on the switch.
The switch has two areas for storing firmware images.  It stores the new firmware in the unused image area.  Check the administration guide for how to upgrade firmware and select new firmware for the next reboot.
CDP is enabled on the switch when you use the new software, it was not there with older firmware, hence my insistance at upgrading firmware.
( Personally  i would prefer you to have a catalyst switch for your ISRG2 CME application, for tech support purposes. But this is the land of the free..)
I found the following when I added my SG300-28P  to a VLAN aware UC500.
The UC500  was advertising vlan100 as a voice vlan, configured that by Cisco Configuration Assistant, you might try CCP on your ISR.
I had a IP phone plugged into switch port G7 and a uplink to my UC500 via port Gig27.
The following in blue is a screen copy from my 300 series switch CLI interface.
You will note the switch automatically populated both VLAN and port information, the only command I added was "no passwords complexity enable," and some usernames,  which  removed from the screen capture below.
    the switch basically configured itself.

Switch automatically figures which ports should be tagged into VLAN 100.

  • Enabling VM Guest NLB w/Multicast IGMP on 2012 Hyper-V host w/ converged SCVMM fabric switch

    What a mouthful.
    As short as possible:
    WHAT I'M ATTEMPTING:
I'm trying to build a new NLB cluster for a 2008 R2 SP1 Remote Desktop Services farm. And I'm trying to do it the right way, with multicast igmp, not unicast.
The two guest VMs with NLB install converge fine. VIP gets this:
    IP: 192.168.100.157
    MAC: 01-00-5e-7f-64-9d
NLB NIC is on the same VLAN & "Converged switch" in VMM as our mgmt/server traffic (That is to say it's on production VLAN, not on a separate vlan)
    PROBLEM:
Can't ping 100.157. From VM guest itself, from host, or from Cisco 6509 switch.
Cisco show mac address lookup does not see that MAC anywhere
show ip igmp groups shows not igmp traffic at all. Clearing counters show sno multicast increment.
    FURTHERMORE:
    Host is setup thusly:
    - Dell R810
    - 8x1GbE Broadcom 5709c in a Server 2012 LACP/HASH team built via VMM powershell cmdlets
    - On the physical switch side, those 8 nics are in a Cisco port-channel, trunked, all VLANs allowed
    -  Host has no "physical" nics per se, as in a 2008 R2 hyper-v host. Instead Host has these:
Set-VMNetworkAdapter -ManagementOS -Name "Live Migrate" -MinimumBandwidthWeight 35
Set-VMNetworkAdapter -ManagementOS -Name "MGMT" -MinimumBandwidthWeight 25
Set-VMNetworkAdapter -ManagementOS -Name "CSV" -MinimumBandwidthWeight 40
    Set-VMNetworkAdapter -ManagementOS -Name "iSCSI #1" -MinimumBandwidthWeight 0
    Set-VMNetworkAdapter -ManagementOS -Name "iSCSI #2" -MinimumBandwidthWeight 0
Set-VMNetworkAdapter -ManagementOS -Name "Aux" -MinimumBandwidthWeight 0
Get-VMSwitch outputs this on the converged v-switch:

    Question:
Aside from a few of my favorite MS MVPs (shout out to
WorkingHardInIt for having this same question), I can't find much documentation on employing 2008 R2 NLB on guest VM within a fabric-oriented, VMM-built 2012 Hyper-Visor converged switch (no network virtualization...yet).
Yes I know all about VMM NLB but 1) I'm trying to wedge NLB in after building these VMs without a service template (NLB is the audible, essentially) and 2) MS NLB is configured in providers & I've created requisite VIP templates.
Even so, I ought to be able to create an NLB cluster without VMM's assistance in this scenario correct? Suboptimal, I know but possible, yes? Essentially I've put to synthetic NICs on each VM, set IPs manually, and assigned them to the same vlan. I can ping
each synthetic NIC, but not the cluster IP.
And yes: these particular vNICs have Mac Address Spoofing enabled.
    Cisco:
I have a TAC case open with Cisco, but they can't quite figure it out either. IGMP Snooping enabled across the switch. And they insist that the old static arp entry to resolve this problem is no longer necessary, that Microsoft now complies with relevant
    RFCs
    Possible SOlution:
Only thing I can think of is flipping MulticastForwarding param below from disabled to enabled. Anybody ever tried it on a converged virtual switch on the Hyper visor? Is my virtual converged switch protecting
    me from multicast igmp packets?

Sorry for the poor follow-up Steven. We are using Server 2012 Hyper-V, not VMWare, on the hosts. You can close this but for the benefit of anyone who comes across it:
After working with Cisco, we decided not to implement multicast IGMP. Cisco says you still need to create a static ARP entry on the physical switch, though my cluster IP address & Microsoft NLB 2008 R2 were set up with igmp multicast, not multicast or
    unicast. Here was his email:
Yes, we will need the static mapping for the NLB server in this case because the NLB mac address is multicast and the IP address is unicast. I was under the impression that even the server would be using IGMP but that’s not
the case. We won’t need to do the mapping for the nodes though if they use IGMP. To this end, following is the configuration that should make this work.rp 192.168.100.157
    0100.5e7f.649d arpa
    <u5:p></u5:p>
    mac address-table static 0000.0000.649d vlan <> interface <> disable-snooping
ßThis is the switch interface where the NLB server is located<u5:p></u5:p>
     interface vlan<>
    <u5:p></u5:p>
ip pim sparse-dense-mode     <- This is needed for the switch to elicit IGMP joins from the nodes<u5:p></u5:p>
    end<u5:p></u5:p>
I don't think it got through to him that there was a virtual Layer 2/3 Hyper-V switch on top of 8 teamed GbE interfaces in LACP/hash. "Where the NLB server is located" = 1)a Cisco port-channel bound to one of six physical hosts; the NLB VM itself could be
on any of those port channels at any given time (We have a six node Hyper-V cluster).
Once I enabled pim I did see activity; but we killed this later as we realized we'd have to implement the same on 40+ managed routers globally
Anyway we further would have had to implement this across managed routers at 40 sites globally according to Cisco.

  • SRW224G4P: no web interface access

    Hi to all!
I've read many ppl having similar problem, but mine is a little bit different.
The web interface of my switch (SRW224G4P) used to work very well, but since some time it is not possible to access, it sends back a page that contains:
    <html><body><script>window.close();</script></body></html>
On Safari and IE it closes the window (of course), on Chrome it stays blank.
If I try to access via HTTPS it raises a problem with certificate, saying the certificate is for sw0.ph.cube.lan (the previous name of the siwtch) and not for sw0.voip.cube.lan (the actual name). I suspected it could be something related to name change, but even going back to the previous setting does not resolve.
I've tried to reset to factory defaults, even reflashing with the same firmware version, but the problem is not solved yet.
    HW: SRW224G4P
    SW: 1.3.1
    TIA
    Andrea Mistrali

    Hi Andrea
You have done everything I would have tried, except have you upgrades your Internet explorer to a very recent Version ?
the datasheet shows that the unit supports only "Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 5.5 or later)" but I am thinking that it works best with  IE6.
Maybe someone else has a better idea, but try using a IE version 6 and maybe not the more recent versions of IE.
If that fails, since the product has a "5-year limited hardware warranty with return to factory replacement and 90-day limited software warranty"
If the problem really is switch software on that switch, it sounds like a case for a replacement.

  • IGMP Snooping IPTV SG200-08

For having 3 settopboxes for iptv I have setup vlan 3 for iptv.
IGMP snooping is enabled for vlan 3 with the default settings and port 5 (incoming iptv) is enabled as IGMP Mrouter.
In the multicast forwarding table vlan 3 is set to filter unregistered.
This is working fine for a while but after 2 to 3 days the settopbox doesn't receive the iptv signal anymore and I have to restart the switch.
After the reset everything is working fine again for a few days and then the above repeats it self.
How can I solve this problem?
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

Hi Alexandre, I think the only way to see what is happening is by generating a packet capture to see why when one of the connections leave, what is being sent or received by the other to cause the delay.

  • IOS-XRv and HSRP: Supported?

    Hey gang -
I'm building a virtual lab within a KVM hypervisor, and it includes 2 XRv images tied together across a VM switch image (Arista vEOS, but that's unimportant).  The L2 connectivity is clearly there between the two routers:
    RP/0/0/CPU0:r2#show cdp neighbors gigabitEthernet 0/0/0/6
    Fri Apr 17 10:49:07.505 UTC
    Capability Codes: R - Router, T - Trans Bridge, B - Source Route Bridge
                      S - Switch, H - Host, I - IGMP, r - Repeater
Device ID       Local Intrfce    Holdtme Capability Platform  Port ID
    r1                    Gi0/0/0/6        149     R          IOS XRv S Gi0/0/0/6
And HSRP is able to sync up appropriately between the two of them:
    RP/0/0/CPU0:r2#show hsrp br
    Fri Apr 17 10:46:32.806 UTC
    IPv4 Groups:
                            P indicates configured to preempt.
                            |
Interface      Grp  Pri P State   Active addr     Standby addr   Group addr
    Gi0/0/0/6         1 100 P Standby 172.17.0.242    local          172.17.0.241
    IPv6 Groups:
However, r2 (the secondary) can't ping the HSRP IP at all.  It can ping the buddy router's IP address, but not the HSRP one:
    RP/0/0/CPU0:r2#ping 172.17.0.242
    Fri Apr 17 10:51:30.635 UTC
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 172.17.0.242, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 9/17/19 ms
    RP/0/0/CPU0:r2#ping 172.17.0.241
    Fri Apr 17 10:51:32.595 UTC
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 172.17.0.241, timeout is 2 seconds:
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
The primary router can ping the HSRP IP though:
    RP/0/0/CPU0:r1#ping 172.17.0.241
    Fri Apr 17 11:32:32.679 UTC
    Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 172.17.0.241, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/1/1 ms
Further, the switch VM that the two XRv routers are connected to can ping both of their IPs on Gig0/0/0/6, but can't ping the HSRP IP:
    #ping 172.17.0.242
    PING 172.17.0.242 (172.17.0.242) 72(100) bytes of data.

(Pay no mind to the horrendous latency; it's due to the way Arista wrote the VM).
So after all of that: should I expect HSRP to be fully supported with XRv?  Or, like the L2 interfaces that are fully configurable, is it something that isn't supported?  Did I, perhaps, forget to enable some bit within the XRv's config?
    Thanks!

In order to get redundancy to run between two SLB switches, you need to configure HSRP between the two VLAN interfaces and then associate the standby name with the Cisco IOS SLB Virtual Server (Vserver). When using IOS SLB in an HSRP environment ensure that the active HSRP router (also active for IOS SLB) is receiving the return traffic for the IOS SLB connections.

  • PBR Multiple Tracking Support information for Cat2960

                      Hello
I have been investigating for PBR multiple tracking support devices specially Catalyst 2960.
The following is very similar to this information. However it can not be applicable to Cat2960.
[PBR Support for Multiple Tracking Options]
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/iproute_pi/configuration/guide/iri_prb_mult_track_external_docbase_0900e4b1810fe379_4container_external_docbase_0900e4b181525fed.html#wp1056119
But feature navigator can show the following information of this feature.
    [Feature Navigator for Cat2960]
PBR Support for Multiple Tracking Options
    IOS:12.2(55)SE1
    Feature-Set:LAB-Base
You can find it by using the research feature and filter by PBR.
    So which is correct ?
Basically Cat2960 can not support PBR or there is any related information based on the feature navigator's info.
Any information would be very helpful.
Thank you very much and Best Regards,
    Masanobu Hiyoshi

    Hello Julio
Thank you for your precious information!
In my understanding it is conclution that the Catalyst 2960 & 2960S series
basically do not support for PBR. So PBR multiple tracking also do not support right?
Here is the output of Cat2960 and 3750X
    2960#sh sdm prefer
The current template is "lanbase-routing" template.
The selected template optimizes the resources in
the switch to support this level of features for

As you know by default Cat3750X normally requires SDM template as routing for
functioning PBR. Otherwise the number of IPv4 policy based routing aces
    does not increase.

The current template is "desktop routing" template.
The selected template optimizes the resources in
the switch to support this level of features for
8 routed interfaces and 1024 VLANs.

number of IPv6 qos aces:                                  0
number of IPv6 security aces:                           58
So what could you think about the feature navigator's information related to this?
Is it possible to modify it? or request to cisco for this?
    Best Regards,
