SSO for portal ESS applications

Hi all,
We have implemented ESS in Portal.
But we need to access the ESS modules outside the portal .. i.e,
We need to access ESS applications from a .net portal..
goal is to acheive SSO from a .net portal to SAP Portal..
How to Acheive this. any approches/ best practices??

The idea would be to "force" the users to log on to the portal (so that they have a SAPLogonTicket), redirect the users to your .Net application and from there they can access ESS scenarios (since they do have a SAPLogonTicket now).

Hi,
if you have access to service.sap.com via S-User, you can download "SAP Enterprise Portal Security Guide" in the portal section. It has dedicated descriptions about SSO-Settings, also about netegrity.
You can also search help.sap.com about "SSO" which gives you overview descriptions.
On SAP Service Net, there is also an pdf "Integrating Security functions" in the Netweaver 2004s Portal section, where the description of the Java API for the PDK is included. This is very helpfull for coding.

SSO for Oracle Apex application

Hi All,
I am working on the requirement where the client want to implement the SSO for the apex application which are in different workspaces.
But not using oracle SSO server :(
The Microsoft active directory is used for authentication.
Please give me some idea how to implement SSO for these apex applications.

I am trying to implement Single-Sign On for my Apex applications. Below are the requirement steps:
This is working fine within same WORKSPACE and on single DB, but I need to implement SSO across DB with different workspaces.
1. I have *2 Databases* DB-1 and DB-2. Both are different and running on different machines.
2. On Both DB's Apex is configured.
3. I have to deploy an app which uses internal Application Express account credentials for Login on DB-1
4. From DB-1, after login, I have to provide a link to open another Apex App deployed on DB-2
5. All Apex Apps on both DB's are using same Authentication Schemes.
6. In both DB's I have PAGE SENTRY function for session validation.
Can we configure Apex only once on both DB servers like RAC. Do we have any admin setting in Apex by which we can achieve th motive.
Please help me to implement such functionality using only Apex across different DB's and different Workspaces.

SSO for portal desktop for my applications

Hi,
how to impliment sso for applications that i developed.
i created tabs and added the channels to container.
now i wants to that maintain the session .
i.e, once a user enters into portal desktop.and he clicks the tab and
enters user name and password.and when he goes other tab and comes
back then it has to maintain the state.but now here it asking again username
and password
Please help

Thanks for response.
I customized the sample portal and added channel to tabs.and added iframe to that channel and added some url's and when a user clicks that url and enters user name and pasword and if he goes to other tab it has to maintain it state
how it is possible

SSO for multiple APEX applications on the same instance

Hi All,
We have an APEX instance with 2 applications configured in 2 workspaces.
The instance is already configured to use SSO. I have followed thee Metalink note #562807.1 to do the SSO wiring.
We are planning to incorporate SSO authentication for both the applications.
Also planning to use different URLs (2 aliases for the server) for the applications.
eg:-
App1 will be using http://app1.us.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:10
App2 will be using http://app2.us.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=200:10
Is it possible to register SSO on 2 URLs for the same instance?
Can I execute regapp.sql multiple times on the same instance?
Please advice me.

Is it possible to register SSO on 2 URLs for the same instance?You should be able to register as many partner applications as you like. I suggest that you try it.
Can I execute regapp.sql multiple times on the same instance?Yes, but the lsnr_token value must be unique. That's HTML_DB:hostname:port.
Your applications in different workspaces will not be able to share sessions but you will probably get the single-sign-on behavior you need.

Using SSO for 2 partner application that different domainname

Dear expert,
I have to implement the Oracle SSO with 2 existing Web Application that separate domainname (eg. domainA.com and domainB.com). I have read from OTN the SSO using HTTP Cookie for partner applications but the standard cookie can not be accessed from different domainname.

Reading and googling through much unclear RMAN content I came to the conclusion that it simply is not possible to use RMAN to copy SCHEMA_A from INSTANCE_A in MACHINE_A into INSTANCE_B without blowing away SCHEMA_B in INSTANCE_B on MACHINE_B.
So, I need to use RMAN to set up INSTANCE_A_COPY on MACHINE_B. Then I can have both INSTANCE_B and INSTANCE_A_COPY on MACHINE_B. If MACHINE_A should fail then I can switch over to MACHINE_A_COPY and run both instances, no problem.
Question: I would like to save time and disk space by not copying a 1TB reference tablespace/schema into INSTANCE_A_COPY. When I run INSTANCE_A_COPY it will need to join to the read-only reference tablespace/schema in INSTANCE_B. What will be the performance of a “distributed join” on tables across two instances in the same machine?

Sizing difference between IAC & Web dynpro for the ESS application.

Hi Experts,
We have upgraded from EP 6.0 to EP 7.0 in the past,right now we are using the iviews with integrated ITS for ESS.Now,our requirement is to change the existing iviews which are on IAC to webdynpro application.
I want to know the sizing/hardware requirement for this and how it will impact the system.
Could any one of you please help me in providing some document for this as early as possible?

I don't know of anything that granular that will comparitively tell you that "ITS service XYZ which is replaced by Webdynpro XYZ2 requires X additional sizing". Now, just in general terms, I don't see the difference being very much as both are pretty much dynamically generated web pages at the end of the day. It will really boil down to the KIND of applications you are using. For example, for typical personal information apps (Address, Banks, etc) there is not going to be much usage/traffic as compared to an online timesheet application (which might be used daily or at least slammed on fridays...ie.end of week) or even compared to Benefits (where traffic is heavy during open enrollment periods but tapers off there after). So, I think that is really the place to start looking for any sizing considerations.....just my opinion.

check the function group HRPBSINLOANS_ESS or include LHRPBSINLOANS_ESSF01. you will find all the mail contents which are being sent in loan application.

ESS Applications Mandatory Login ( with other app's on SSO )

Hi ,
ESS Applications - MySAP ERP2005 - Webdynpro Java,
EP 7 and ECC 6.0 .
Users are concerned about sensitive data being displayed with SSO. We want to keep SSO for the remaining Applications but want to turn it off for ESS Applications.
I had made canges in Webdynpro code for SAP.Authentication = True and also at the IView Properties for SAP Logon Pwd Authentication.
But its still accepting the SSO.
I modified JCO to uid pwd from ticket , but now its loging in the JCO ( just the jco ) with my uid / pwd's ( even when tried with other users ).
Isthere any way i can enforce users to log in only with ESS Apps.

Rebooting at least once a week is always a good idea. (see link at end)
A reset/reboot is:
Go to Home Screen
Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.
