SSRS error - verbose mode

We have a SCCM and use SQL 2012 server for reporting. Recently we have started experiencing a problem where we can browse to the reports and once we do run the reports, it tries to run forever and eventually halts with the following error
An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError)
I have enabled verbose mode on the sql server and restarted the reporting service. Below is the log file where I am hoping someone will be able to tell me what the issue is:

This was to do with NIC settings on the SQL server. There was a mis-configuration where data was taking long time to copy. Once we have corrected this, all started to work just fine.

  • Early 2011 MBP stuck on gray screen, verbose mode shows SMC error too

    Hi!
I have and early 2011 MBP, running on OS 10.7.5 is continuously stuck at grey screen upon start-up.
I tried the steps as mentioned in Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup - Apple Support article apart from reinstalling OS X. The laptop started after every step, but then stopped again. I tried SMC update, that also worked for once, and on the second start up I ended up with a blue screen. During a later attempt, it worked again for a while, but ended with a distorted graphics after 15 mins. AHT (short version) doesn't show any hardware errors. Now the laptop doesn't go further than grey screen at all, and after a minute or so there's a heavy fan activity. The verbose mode also shows and SMC error, smc: : smcinithelper error: mmio regmap ==null - fall back to old smc mode (AHT Shows SMC version as 1.69f4)
    What do you advise?

    Try this:
Reset the SMC and the NVRAM:
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063
    Then try a safe boot:

    Any success?
    Ciao.

  • IMac won't boot up. Stuck in "verbose mode" ??

I've had this problem on and off for a few weeks now. I either restart my iMac after installing some new software-or for other reason- and my computer won't boot up. Sometimes it will stay at the white screen with the grey apple for hours if I leave it there. I've tried all the tricks with key commands. I even reinstalled my software, which worked, but now its happening again. Today, I restarted my iMac, and the same thing is happening, except sometimes it will go into what I've heard called- "verbose mode." The screen is black and white command text appears in the upper left hand corner. Here are some examples of what appears...
    No Airport driver found.
    Exited abnormally. Bad system call.
    Repawning too quickly! throttling
10 more failures without living at least 60 seconds will cause job removal.
    Will restart in 10 seconds.
(this will continue until it has restarted and failed 10 times. After this is done, it will display one of the following...)
    too many failures in succesion
    OR
local:/root# (continuously flashes on the screen)
    OR
localhost:/ I have no name!# AppleYukon- eno link active, 100-Mbit, full duplex, flow control disabled.
I really don't know what to do. I'm really frustrated with my iMac. I've had to replaced a dead hard drive within the 6 months of my purchase, and now it is acting crappy again.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

I tried using the disk utility on the grey disks, but
they can't repair the error on my HD. I can't restore
the original software from the disks either... there
is an error when I try.
No, you can't restore while the current OS is in place, due to the fact that your 10.4.8 isn't compatible with the older version (10.4.4) that's on the install DVDs. Once a Mac OS is in place, it can only be upgraded, not downgraded. You'll have to choose either:
to "Archive & Install" which would set aside your current system unerased until the new installation is completed and your current settings are transferred over - at which point you can erase the archived OS.
to entirely erase and reformat the HDD, then install a fresh OS.
Use the install disc's version of Disk Utility to perform either. First, though, you probably need to do a PRAM reset - that often clears things up so that you won't get an error message.
    To reset the PRAM:
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following four keys on the keyboard: Command (Apple logo), option, P, and R. You will need to hold these four keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Start up the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination after the startup chord sounds, but before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold all four keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup chord for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

  • SQL 2012 SP1 Enterprise (SSRS in SharePoint mode): Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services

    Hello,
SSRS in SharePoint mode is driving me insane.
We are recreating a SharePoint 2013 (SP1) farm in a test environment with the following set-up:
    2 SP Web FrontEnds
    2 SP Application Servers
    1 SQL Server
At both SP APP Servers, we installed SSRS (SQL 2012 Enterprise w/ SP1) in SP integrated mode.
We managed to start the SSRS SP service at the first SP APP Server. However when we try to start it on the second APP Server, we get the following error:
"Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. This edition only supports one instance of the SQL Server Reporting Services Service in the farm.  The SQL Server Reporting Services service cannot
be started on this server unless it is stopped on all other servers in the farm. "
Now I can't stress this enough: This is a SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise. This is the image we got from our MSDN subscription. There is no mistake here.
Could someone please advise why SP might think this version of SSRS is not the correct one?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hello,
I'm afraid that is not it.
After a long, frustrating and strenuous investigation and troubleshooting, we found the problem.
The problem is the current ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP1 (x64) found at MSDN. Bear in mind that we downloaded this ISO from MSDN about a month ago.
As soon as we recreated the environment using the ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP2 (x64) found at MSDN, everything worked as expected -- and that includes running more than one SSRS in SharePoint mode.
Also bear in mind that we tried updating the SQL SP1 install with SP2 and subsequent cumulative updates but that never fixed the problem.
There is something fundamentally wrong with that ISO with SP1 slipstreamed in it that no matter the subsequent updates installed, SSRS in SharePoint mode fails to work properly on a multi-server environment. We went as far as SP2 with CU3 and nothing seemed
to fix the problem. And yes, we also performed manual updates to the SSRS and PowerPivot SharePoint MSI add-ins.
I am shocked and distraught to find out that I lost hours of work due to a dodgy ISO image.
    Regards,
    P.

  • Freezing at startup - weird message when starting up in verbose mode

My macbook pro, only about 2 months old, freezes a lot while its starting up. i have to keep turning it off and on for it to work. It gets stuck at the grey screen with the apple and the loading icon.
I decided to start up in verbose mode and maybe i can see what the problem is. So i did just that and i got this error message:
SATA WARNING: completing a zero block transfer.
it keeps repeating that message and scrolling down the screen forever.
I have no idea what that could be.

Most likely a problem with the disk and/or some corruption of the directory. Be sure to back up your own data if you haven't done so already. Then boot from your install disk and go to the menu bar and select Disk Utility and then Repair Disk. If it reports a problem and fixes it, run it again until everything comes up clean. If it reports a problem it can't fix you could invest in DiskWarrior, or, if you have AppleCare I believe you got a free copy of TechTool, you could try running that.

  • SSRS 2012 SharePoint Mode Impersonate

SP 2013 / SSRS 2012 in SharePoint Mode. Everything worked fine until we started configuring for Kerberos for using Pass-Through Authentication to data sources. We have this working in our current SP 2010 / SSRS 2008 Integrated Mode and so have experience
both with creating SPNs for delegation and editing SSRS config-files.
Any documentation we have found from Microsoft on editing the report server web.config are in best case incomplete and many are just wrong. For example adding what Microsoft recommends - '<authentication mode="Windows"/>' -
causes the RS service application to crash. This does seem to be covered by other options in the config-file, but we are not able to find any documentation for that.
Is anybody aware of a place where this is actually documented?
    Thanks.
    Regards, Stig

    Hi Heidi,
many thanks for the reply. We have already been through this post and believe that we have configured Kerberos with constrained delegation exactly as described. We have quite some experience with that already as we do have a functioning SharePoint 2012 with
SSRS Integrated mode that have also been configured for Kerberos.
Our doubts/issues here lies purely with what we need to do with the SSRS web.config file. We have been through not only the referenced post, but a multitude of others as well. Our understanding from all these is that we need to have <identity impersonate="true"
/> in the SSRS web.config file for it to be able to pass-through the identify of the client user.
This however produces an error for accessing SSRS in any way: "
The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key that is
used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database.".
We have researched this error and tried all manners of backup/restore the key and deleting the encrypted data as it is being referred to, but none of this helps.
If we set this back to <identity impersonate="false" /> the SSRS functionality then works again, but we are then not getting the Kerberos identity passed through to the remote database server (which the data source points to).
This is why we asked for documentation on how exactly SSRS is using the web.config file.

  • Verbose mode ****

So it all started a while ago when sleep mode only lasted for 10 seconds after I upgraded to 10.4.9. I read that this was a common problem, so I just shut down at night. About a week ago, the computer kept booting from the gray Apple boot screen straight to the Blue Screen of Death: "You need to restart your computer". Kernel panic. Yay. Always a code 14: page fault.
So I swapped the ram but nothing changed, and I could boot into OSX fine occasionally. No Disc Utility noticed anything wrong. Then yesterday my MBP quit recognizing my external hard drive. I can use the hard drive with Windows machines and my iMac G4 just fine. I've tried to boot in safe mode, but while holding down shift, the gray screen just stays there spinning forever. I can't boot into open-firmware either.
When I put the install disc in and held down C, I got a kernel panic message that said Unable to find driver for this platform : “ACPI”, and now my computer is in verbose mode telling me all kinds of awful things about the mDNSResponder, and " I have no name!#"
I'm fine with backing up my data and reformatting if that's what it takes - but since the MBP won't recongize the hard drive I can't do that. I want to take it to the genius bar tomorrow and see if they can figure out what in the world is going on.
Here's some stuff verbose mode is putting out right now:
mDNSResponder: GetDNSConfig: Error: dnsconfigurationcopy returned NULL
    configd[257]: No AirPort Driver found.
    configd[257]: LINKLOCAL: inet6attachinterface(en0) failed, File exists (17)

Furthermore, the PRAM reset command won't even load the gray Apple before it restarts (maybe that's normal). I managed to get into Hardware Test mode by holding D.

  • Help! G4 PowerBook will only boot up in Verbose mode(?!)

Whenever I switch on my PowerBook, it won't get past the chime/black screen unless I press Option-V.
Without Option-V, the hard disk starts up and sounds normal, but after approx. 10-15 seconds of black screen I hear a high-pitched squeak as it appears to shut down the power. (Tried removing battery and plugging into mains power.)
I tried lots of different key combinations (e.g. boot from Tiger) but even the DVD drive appears to die and shut down.
However, when trying verbose mode to trace the problem through the logs, I have found that Option-V causes it to boot normally. I don't see any log information at all(!) - the PowerBook goes through the normal startup process to the Apple logo and then successfully onto the finder.
Has anybody got any idea what could be wrong?
(The PowerBook is 2-years old and there were no visible warning signs leading up to this problem.)

    First:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If the hard drive is OK per the above then reinstall OS X by doing an Archive and Install. Archive and Install will install a fresh copy of OS X without erasing the hard drive. Of course you must have sufficient free space on the hard drive to do this (8-10 GBs during installation.) Your old system will be archived in a Previous System Folder located at the root directory of hard drive.
Please carefully read the information on Archive and Install before proceeding.

  • Leopard Unable To Boot, Loops In Verbose Mode

    Hi everyone,
I really hope someone can help me out here!
I recently backedup(Leopard), partitioned(my internal HDD) and restored Leopard
but now when booting it just stalls at the Apple screen with the loadnig circle at the bottom. I have done resores numerous times before and this is the first problem i have had.
No matter how long I leave it loading (+5 hours, to test) it never loads.
It doesnt start in safe mode, single user mode and when in Verbose mode it infinetly loops at this portion:
    configd[36] <info>: hostname(multicast DNS) = MYMAC

    configd[36] <info>: network configuration changed
    mDNSResponder[684] <Error>:ERROR:blind(listenfd,(struct sockaddr *) &laddr, sizeof(laddr));
Faild no such file or directory
I have a small backup partition of Tiger and it workd fine, i can see the resored drive and all its contents(Applications etc.) and disk utility reports no problems when verify and repairing the disk.
I have also run Hardware diagnostics at startup and it reported no errors.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to loose Leopard and all my files.
    Thanks.

See if you can boot into the Leopard DVD. Insert DVD, reboot and hold down "C" key.
After language screen, in menu top left under Utilities, you will find disk utility.app (DU)
Run DU and first verify/repair HD and then repair permissions on the Leopard volume.
Reboot and see what happens or report back with any problems or errors you get.
Also, since one backup is SuperDuper! can you boot into that? Hold down Option key on boot and see if it shows up. If it does, does it boot normally?

  • Delete folders in verbose mode?

Hi. My laptop won't boot properly because the disk is full.  I can boot in verbose mode to type commands.  What is the command to delete the main Movies folder?  Or main Downloads folder?

Actually it's Single User mode, it's  Verbose when it's booting and you can see it but have no control.
What you want to do your better off doing this. Single User mode is dangerous and can have unexpected issues from human error. Also you can keep the files.
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive

  • Vista boots in Verbose Mode

I just installed Vista and everytime it boots the command line displays verbose mode, meaning it's telling me almost everything it's doing during startup.
How do I turn this off on a MacBook Pro?
Normally on a regular PC with BIOS, I am able to press the F# hotkey during startup to set my boot preferences. Not sure how to do this on an Intel Mac.
    Any ideas?
Also, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this, so I am posting this in "Installation..." as well

    Thanks, John.
The only login item was iTunes Helper. I disabled it. (what does it do anyway? that's for another forum)
While in System Preferences I also enabled ftp login and file sharing (I think I had left that off before).
I rebooted and got the familiar blue screen on the external screen, nothing on the built-in screen.
I logged in from my MBP usin ssh and got connected. I also was able to look at the disk and directories from the finder.
In terminal, with "top" I noted that there was a stuck process. If I knew Unix I could have determined what that process was but I don't. WaitingForLoginWindow came up at some point when I also used "ps".
Eventually I decided to try connecting with Chicken of the VNC, and this time I connected. Except, all I got was a black screen. Nothing I did would change it from a black screen.
What I forgot to mention earlier is that this iBook at first appears to start from a bootable CD (like TechTools or Diskwarrior or a system disc) but then just gets stuck at some point.
This all seems like a hardware error to me.

  • Verbose mode message ??

I am unable to boot from my BU drive. Spinning gear. :-((
I get the following verbose mode msg trying to boot from the backup made with SuperDuper 2.1.4 ......
    Mar 4 11:11:56 Launchd: Bug: launchd.c:1990:17: ioctl(s6, SIOCAIFADDR_IN6, &ifra6) != -1
    What does this msg mean?
I have checked the BU with Disk Warrior---No errors
    SpeeedyR
MacBook (2Ghz Intel Core Duo)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   74 Gig partition on a LaCie Group SA (GUID partitioning)

This sounds like hardware error involving your NIC.
I know of others who have the same error message pop
up. You might want to have Apple check it out, the last
person I spoke to had to have their motherboard replaced.

  • 10.6 Verbose mode stops at ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start....

Macbook not booting and stalls at spinning gear.
Tried many things but ended up booting into verbose mode and it stops at
    ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - watiForService(resourceMattching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out.
Previously in the boot, it says it failed to load that kext because the link failed.
    - Tried repairing permissions
    - Netbooting into AST and running MRI. No errors. Reset SMC and NVRAM. No change.
    - Swapped RAM
    - Made image and restored to a new hard drive. Same problems.
    - Booted different computer from the harddrive. Still get spinning gear.
    - Swapped hard drive for a working one from another laptop and it booted fine.
Any thoughts before I wipe the HD it and start from scratch?

    Dont wipe the hard drive!
Just had this problem on a macbook pro 2011 at my work (computer repair business).  The problem occurred after switching out the hard drive and hard drive cable.  Tried booting an Apple Hardware Test, by install disk, or by bootable USB OSx.  Each time the verbose popped up before completing boot and ended at a failure of the load of the driver regarding cpu power management.
Ultimately, the problem was a corruption of the firmware, which is embedded in flash-based rom chips on the logic board.  The Apple website has the firmware for your model available and it should boot from the disk without trouble.
Incidentally, all attempts to boot failed except when booting to the OSx Lion full install from USB.  This alone seemed to bypass the corruption.  Regardless, the firmware restore should do it.
    So don't wipe your drive.

  • Normal Startup Messages (System.log; Intel Verbose Mode)?

Over this past weekend, I wanted to test the backup I had for my 24" iMac. I had always used Apple's Backup program that comes with .Mac when I had my PowerBook, and never tested it. This was bad, because it didn't work when I actually needed it.
I also suspected there might be something slightly wrong with my iMac, so equipped with about 4 hours and my install DVDs i went to work.
The only thing I've done so far is get all the Apple updates and setup my iChat account. I changed to boot in verbose mode, and found that the eery messages that scared me prior to doing my reinstallation of OS X (I zeroed the drive, then did a full install) were still there.
    Here is my entire System.log:

The lines that concern me are the ones bolded at the top of System.log
The other thing that is a bit unnerving to me is that when I have it set to boot in verbose mode, and then restart the computer, I get a screen that looks out of place. It is a box with a dark background in the center of the screen with text in there, and then it quickly switches to full screen verbose mode. The first line of full screen verbose mode (which is what I'm used to since I always used verbose mode on my PowerBook) is this one:
Jan 30 09:23:08 localhost kernel[0]: hi mem tramps at 0xffe00000
In the centered text, it mentions something about "loading drivers" followed by many lines of periods. It is only up for about 5 seconds, and then switches to full screen verbose mode. Is that centered window for verbose mode new to intel Macs? I never recall seeing it on my PowerBook.
When i googled around for the "hi mem tramps" message, i found it might be linked to bad ram. I used memtest and did 3 passes to check the ram, and it found no errors.
Are these messages in System.log normal?
    Thanks!

    Hi, Mike.
First, please don't use the "scatter gun" or "post everywhere" approach. I see you've also post the same question here. I appreciate your urgent desire for help, but it would be very annoying to anyone answering questions here to spend time researching your question in one post, only to find it already answered in another place where it was also posted. The "scatter gun" approach is a good way to get all your future posts ignored.
According to what I read in the second post of this topic on another forum, I suspect you may have a Startup Item that's causing the highlighted messages to be written to system.log. Perhaps some PowerPC code you may have migrated over to your Intel-based Mac if you used the Setup / Migration Assistant to move to the new Mac from a pervious Mac.
There have been numerous posts about the tfp: failed on 0 message, which can be seen in this search of the Discussions. However, I suspect the explanation I've cited above fits your situation.
If an errant Startup Item is the cause, my "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.
As to hi mem tramps…, that may be normal. If you read this item and click on the link for dmesg you'll see a typical output someone else posted as, I suspect, an example of "normal."
    Good luck!
