SSRS Using Sum and = in a conditional operator

Hi,
Still getting to grips with SSRS so any help would be appreciated.
My aim is to calculate a conditional field using the SSRS expression feature, the datasource is a shared dataset which i can't alter so i can't just go an alter the SQL query or anything.
In SQL my query would be like this: SELECT COUNT(TotalHours) FROM TableName WHERE TotalHours <= 24
Is there anyway to combined the Iff and Sum operator's to get a result like the above?
At present all i managed to come up with is the below but obviously it's not returning the correct amount.
=IIf(Fields!TotalHours.Value <= "24", Sum(Fields!TotalHours.Value), 0 )
Please help!
Edit: Please note that i'm not trying to sum a field based on a condition that relates to another column, i just need a sum of 'TotalHours' that are less than or equal to 24, please also note there is another field called category, each category needs a
sum of the above.

According to your description, you want to count [TotalHours] when the value of this field is less than 24, right?
In your scenario, you could use the expression like below:
=Sum(IIF(Fields!TotalHours.Value<=24,1,0))
Please note don’t put this expression in the detail rows, you could refer to our test results:

The last line with "vector<xClsMytype>
m_t_Col;". It compiles but I doubt that is what you want.

Urgent: Performance problem with where clause using IN and an OR condition

Select statement is:
select fl.feed_line_id
from ap_expense_feed_lines_all fl
where ((:1 is not null and
fl.feed_line_id in (select distinct r2.object_id

     per_people_f hr2
where upper(hr2.full_name) like upper(:1||'%')

If I modify the statement to remove the "or (:1 is null))" part at the bottom of the where clause, it returns in .16 seconds. If I modify the statement to only contain the "(:1 is null))" part of the where clause, it returns in .02 seconds. With the whole statement above, it returns in 477 seconds. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply, but I have already checked what you are suggesting and I am pretty sure those are not causing the problem. The hr2.full_name column has an upper index and the (4) line of the explain plan shows that index being used. In addition, that part of the query executes on its own quickly.
Because the sql is not displayed in an indented format on this page it is a little hard to understand the structure so I am going to restate what is happening.
My sql is:
select a_column
from a_table
where ((:1 is not null) and a_column in (sub-select statement)
or
(:1 is null))
The :1 bind variable is set to a varchar2 entered on the screen of an application.
If I execute either part of the sql without the OR condition, performance is good.
If the :1 bind variable is null with the whole sql statement (so all rows or a_table are returned), performance is still good.
If the :1 bind variable is a not-null value with the whole sql statement, performance stinks.
As an example:
where (('wa' is not null) and a_column in (sub-select statement)) -- fast
where (('wa' is null)) -- fast
where (('' is not null) and a_column in (sub-select statement) -- fast
or
('' is null))
where (('wa' is not null) and a_column in (sub-select statement) -- slow

Getting wrong values when using sum() and last() functions in aggregations.

I created a request in presentation servicews it includes " employ id,name,organization.cost center,annul salary,haouly salary, head count". for employ 13 cost centers available so 13 annul salaries for 13 organizations.each has annul saari 10400,hourly salary 10.previously when i run the request with headcount not including salaries headcount is 1 for 13 rows. when head count is not included in the requst and ran request it gives for 13 rows salaries are 10,400,10 respectively. when i add the head count to the previous request the salaries become 135200,130 respectively. actual head for each organization is 1.in the requst it show as 13. the headcount field in business layes uses 'other sum(headcount),date last(headcount). i need it to same values for salaries after addition of
headcount also.

Did you already have a look in the log file to see the SQL which is sent to the DB?
This might be a modeling issue in your RPD. Check if you have set the correct dimensionlevels for your facts.

Using sum and max together

I have a table ;

for each item I want to sum L,M and H values separetly. if there are more than one value in same cid for any L,M,H field I must take max value among them. for example for cid 2, there are two value ( 8, 4) for M field. before sum of d item for M field I must take 8 value for cid 2 M field. for item d of M sum must be like that :
max(8,4) + 8 = 16
sum of L,M,H for each item result must be :
sum ( item) L M H
d 2 16 8
b 8 8 4

I am using the following MDX query on one of my SSRS report.

Over here, the data is being filtered always for current month and for a location that is being selected by user from a report selection parameter.
I would like to get the count of total no. of customers and sum of the amount measure.
When I am using them in calculated members it gives incorrect values. It considers all records (ignores the sub-select statements) instead of only the records of current month and selected location.
I also tried with EXISTING keyword in calculated members but there is not difference in output. Finally, I manage the same at SSRS level.
Can anybody please advise what are the ways to get the required sum of [Measures].[Amt] and count of [Customer].[Customer].[Customer Key].ALLMEMBERS dimension?
Also, does it make any difference if I manage it as SSRS level and not at MDX query level?
Any help would be much appreciated.

We can use SUM function and COUNT function to sum of [Measures].[Amt] and count of [Customer].[Customer].[Customer Key].ALLMEMBERS dimension. Here is a sample query for you reference.

the data (TimeDataRetrieval);Time to process the report (TimeProcessing);Time to render the report (TimeRendering). If you manage it on MDX query level, then the TimeDataRetrieval might a little longer. If you manage it on report level, then the TimeProcessing
or TimeRendering time might a little longer. You can test it on you report with following query:

Is there any way to get a sum of a field grouped by two different fields? Example in my RTF I have a repeating group based on DIVISION which inserts section breaks. Using the example I have posted here what I have in my RTF template is a sum of FEE (assume there are multiple records for DIVISION though only 1 is shown here) that displays on every page for the current group. Each DIVISION is printed on its own page. However, at the end of each DEPARTMENT, I also need to print a summary total of the sum of FEE over all records for that DEPARTMENT on the same page as the last page of the last DIVISION.
So far, I have been able to get it to do the subtotals for each DEPARTMENT as they are within the scope of my loop. The tricky part I am unsure of how best to go about doing is getting and displaying the conditional grand total. My initial idea was to use a variable and do it manually in my template but then I relaized I did not know how to find out if the next record was the first record in the next Department or not. In this case, I am hoping to stick within the realm of using straight SQL Query as my datasource because its already done. The other option I considered was nested loops and a data template but then I realized that I wasn't too sure about manually inserting the section breaks.
Any thoughts?

Using ABS and Sum function at a time

<?if: sum(ARCH_AMT)!='0' ?>
we were using above condition in the template to restrict data till date,but we were facing a new problem when ARCH_AMT is having multiple lines with same amount but +ve and -ve i.e 500,-500 it's doing sum and not returning data since sum would be zero.
we need to do ABS(ARCH_AMT) before doing sum so that SUM will be thousand and data will be picked up.
please suggest how can we have ABS and sum at a time
i tried
<?if: sum(ABS(ARCH_AMT))!='0' ?> and also choose conditions and It's not working.

store ABS(ARCH_AMT) in a variable, and use that variable in a running total

Ssrs sum based upon a conditional statement

In an ssrs 2008 r2 report, I have the following code that totals a transaction amount:
=sum(cdec(Fields!TransactionAmount.Value))
Now I need to have different total amounts based upon 'payment type'. The payment_types are either 'check', or 'credit' for credit card. Thus can you show me how to change the code I just listed to sum the amount depending upon the payment type?

To do this in an SSRS expression just insert an IIf:
=Sum(IIf(Fields!payment_type.Value = "check",cdec(Fields!TransactionAmount.Value),0))
=Sum(IIf(Fields!payment_type.Value = "credit",cdec(Fields!TransactionAmount.Value),0))
In the other thread you will see that sometimes it makes sense to do this kind of work in the dataset since dataset queries run on the datasource and often those systems are robust servers that can crunch and return data very quickly.

Conditional operator and nulltype

hi,
i have a little problem, it's actually not really a problem, im just curious. i have the following testclass
public class Test{
public static void main(String[] args) {
Double a = false? 1.00: (Double)null; // nullpointer (A)
Double b = false? 1.00: null; // works (B)
}when line (A) is uncommented a NullPointerException is thrown and i have no idea why.
when i comment out line (A), line (B) works. because the type of the conditional operator is of the other if one of them is NullType.
so not really a problem because it's better to use (B) but i still want to know why (A) doesn't work.

ouch, i am just to stupid. i forgot autoboxing, the NullType is cast to a null Double, then it's autoboxed to a double and then to a Double again.

Conditional operator for AND and OR are same AND and OR.
A logical expression consists of comparisons (see expressions 1 to 4 below) and/or selection criteria checks (expression 5) using the operators AND, OR and NOT , as well as the parentheses " (" and ")".
The individual operators, parentheses, values and fields must be separated by blanks:
Incorrect:
f1 = f2 AND (f3 = f4).
Correct:
f1 = f2 AND ( f3 = f4 ).
NOT takes priority over AND, while AND in turn takes priority over OR:
NOT f1 = f2 OR f3 = f4 AND f5 = f6
thus corresponds to
( NOT ( f1 = f2 ) ) OR ( f3 = f4 AND f5 = f6 )
The selection criteria comparisons or checks are processed from left to right. If evaluation of a comparison or check proves part of an expression to be true or false, the remaining comparisons or checks in the expression are not performed.
All data objects that can be converted among each other can be used as operands for logical expressions.
Check if u are using the AND or OR operator this way.
IF f1 AND f2.
ENDIF.
In this case it will throw error. Here it act as relational operator.

Ah, Ok this looks nice, thanks very much. It doesn't quite run as is because the stat.amount_paid query value is 'is null', while the others are 'C'. I tried amending the relevant line to various versions of the following:-
in (select 'is null' 'C','C','C','C','C','C','C','C' from dual)
which doesn't work.
I can get the following to work so I am assuming that the it is not possible to use different query values within the brackets of the 'in (select....' statement?

Using sum function and round function in single text form field

Hi all,
I have a column Name - A . In the rtf template i have summed up the column A and showing it. But the output is coming as 99.9999997. I want to round it to 100.
I tried using <?round(sum(A),2)?> but dint workout.
I also tried using variables. It is also not working.. I used <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,’ABS',sum(A)?> and then i used get variable to get it.... But it throwing error while using sum in the set variable step.
Can anyone please help me..

Calculate the sum into a Variable. and apply round function on the variable to get the desired value.
Calculating sum:
<?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,'v',xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'v')+DOLLARS)?> (its running sum formula,should be placed inside the table to get sum of all rows of particular column)
here Variable 'v' holds the sum value
apply round function:
<?round(xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'v'))?>

Sharepoint 2013 copy/move operation using Content and Structure fails

We had a recent upgrade from SP2010 to SP2013 environment. After the migration, we realized that the
copy/move operations using Manage content and structure(sitemanager.aspx) is not working as expected, neither does this give any error nor is it stuck. In fact if I check the content and structure log I find the message as
succeeded but file/item is not copied to the target.
The strange thing is that if I am performing this operation with Full Control permission level it
does not work but if I do the operation as Site collection admin it works without problem. I know if sub-sites are to moved then one should be site col admin but in this case I am trying to move just documents or pages.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

According to your description, my understanding is that copy/move operation using Content and Structure cannot work in SharePoint.
I recommend to check if there are any custom fields in the source list/library and target list/library. If yes, delete the custom fields to see if the issue still occurs.

To copy or move files/items between sites, we need to have
appropriate permissions on both sites.
I recommend to check if the user has full control on both sites.

I need to use Flash and illustratore, but apparently those programmes are incompatible with the new operative sistem...

Where is the Apple problem? I have CS4 and CS5 running perfectly fine on my Macbook Pro. Installed 5 after Lion upgrade. Worth every cent. Adobe did have some catching up to do with Lion but with the CS5.5 update all runs fine. But not yours. So it is a problem with the Lion OS? You say you have been with Adobe since 2005. So you would be aware of all the other issues that Adobe had catching up with past Oss in Mac and Windows then. They get it right, but it is up to them. It is not up to Apple, nor Microsoft for that matter, to run around and check that every software developer in the world is running their business properly.
And what has politics got to do with anything. Some people just have to blame Software for their poor Hardware maintainence of failure of the same.
