Standard for HANA ODBC driver

What is the ODBC conformance standard followed by HANA ODBC Driver. Is it certified for Level-2?

Hello Thomas,
given that the HANA ODBC driver pretty much seems to be a ported version of the MaxDB ODBC driver (and this one supports ODBC 3.51) I would dare to say: yes, ODBC Level-2 should work. (likely with the same restrictions that apply for the MaxDB driver... [listed here|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_8/46/77b97188115808e10000000a114a6b/content.htm]...

  • Problem setting up DSN for 10g ODBC driver

    Hello,
I am simply trying to install an ODBC driver for 10g. To accomplish this, I first downloaded the odbc driver for 10g 10.2.0.2.0. The Readme notes said that I need to install the odbc driver using the Oracle Universal Installer. So I got a copy of just the OUI from our DBA. I installed the OUI 10.2. Using the installer, I installed the 10.2.0.2.0 odbc driver. The Readme notes said to look for the file "products.jar", which was not available, but "products.xml" was, so I used "products.xml", and the driver installed successfully.
The next step was to set up an ODBC DSN for this driver. When I attempted to do this, the Microsoft ODBC Administrator threw this message: The setup routines for the Oracle in DEFAULT_HOME ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 127, followed by Could not load the setup of translator library.
Other threads suggested that I copy the DLLs mfc71.dll, msvcrt.dll, and msvcr71.dll from my C:\Windows\System32 directory to the directory where I installed the odbc driver (C:\orant\BIN) and to ensure that this directory path was defined under the PATH environmental variable. I followed all these instructions but to no avail - I am still having the same problem. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,
    >>could not be loaded due to system error code 127
Did you try install it on other machine ? Maybe this current machine has a DLL versions problems ...
    Cheers

  • Minimum Install for Using ODBC Driver.

What is the minimum installation required for using ODBC from a client machine.
EG I have an application in Access and I want to connect to a table on my oracle server. The user machine, has Access installed, and I don't wnat to install the whole 50 megs(OK I exagerate A little but not much) of NET 8 client just so they can look at a table in Access from Oracle.
What specific elements are necessary in the install, TCP/IP, Named pipe protocol adapters?, required support files?, SQL*plus 8?
Say its a version 8.0.4 server for arguments sake and I want the least hassle setting up 50 users who already have office installed with the latest version of MS ODBC32, they have no Oracle software on their machines.
    null

Unfortunately, you'll need to do at least a minimal Oracle client install. While we probably don't actually rely on everything that gets installed here, we don't test our driver with anything less than a minimal install.

  • Looking for Essbase ODBC driver for iBATIS.

I've seen this question posted 2-3 times before but not with any solid answer. I'm deloping a piece of Java code that is going to use iBATIS SQL mapping (not really important I guess) to connect to an Essbase database sitting on a Microsoft box and insert information into the tables. Is there a JDBC/ODBC driver available for this? I remember something about the driver being on the server itself with the install but what is the location of it? Looking for any help, thanks.

    Anyone?

  • Specifying Partner Failover in odbc.ini for Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server

    Hi,
We are trying to specify the partner failover when making connections via Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server. Do you know a way to specify partner failover in the DSN entry in odbc.ini?
We are using Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server and unixODBC DriverManager.
    Our DSN is:
    [MyDSN]
Driver=ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server
    Description=MyDSN
    Server=MySERVER,<port>
I also tried to use the following connection string in Python (via pyodbc) bypassing the DSN and connecting using the server name.
    cnxn = pyodbc.connect("Server=server1,<port>;UID=sa;PWD=<pwd>;Driver=ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server;Failover_Partner=Server2,<port2>;Database=MyDB")
If the standby DB is on server1 connection fails. It doesn't try server2. If the DB is principal on server1 connection succeeds.
    Thank you,
     Liviu

    Hello,
Did you use ODBC Driver for SQL Server to connect to database that uses database mirroring?
    According to
the BOL,it does not list "Failover_Partner" as ODBC Driver for Linux connection string keywords.
But ODBC driver for Linux supports
AlwaysOn Availability Groups or Failover Cluster Instance by specify MultiSubnetFailover=True when connecting to a SQL Server 2012 availability group listener or SQL Server 2012 Failover Cluster Instance.
The following case is about similar issue and it seems that ODBC Driver on Linux does not recognize Failover_Partner in connection string. (Not test myself). You can refer to:

  • ODBC Driver for Redhat Linux Configuring

    HI,
Any one know the procedure of installing ODBC driver in redhat linux.
The requirement is the application is running on windows and oracle 11g database is running on linux. All the Exe of application uses ODBC driver to connect to oracle database 11g.
Is there any process to install ODBC driver in linux so that i can ran all the EXE's in linux. Can any one provide the docs on these topics.
i have read some topics and enquired most of them they said can be done using the wine utility in linux. So i think to post in Oracle forum so that i get some clue to proceed.
    Thanks in advance...
    SAI

Oracle provides a driver that allows a Windows client to connect to databases on any platform. If you're looking for an ODBC driver for a non-Windows client, there are a few third parties that produce these sorts of drivers (DataDirect comes to mind), but most of them are commercial. http://www.unixodbc.org is an open source project to do the same thing.

  • Oracle 11g dg4odbc OpenLink postgres odbc driver for Linux... Integer issue

We were using scuccessfully the openlink driver for postgres odbc driver to connect oracle and postgres in solaris and oracle 10g hsodbc
we are migrating to Linux Oracle 11g and installed linux psotgres odbc driver and configured oracle 11g dg4odbc gateway.
We could connect from oracle and retrive the data from postgres.
    Issue we have is
The integer data is not showing correctly…
For example in the postgres the value is 1 and in oracle its shown as 4294967297.

  • MS ODBC or Oracle ODBC driver?

Can anyone tell me which is the correct driver to use when developing front end MS Access 2003 to retrieve and update data on a Open VMS platform with Oracle 8.1.7.3 database?
I have serval Access 2000 databases that run on most WinNT or W2K clients with a couple of W2K Dell exceptions. These Access 2000 db's connect to the Oracle database using linked tables and SQL pass-through queries that work with ODBC Manager-DNS system setup using the Microsoft for Oracle ODBC driver.
Now we are upgrading to Office Pro 2003 so new W2K images have been setup with Oracle 8.1.7 Client. SQL*Plus works on these clients but when I create the System DNS the Access databases return an error "ODBC connection failed". I can however connect with a pass-through query using Oracle's ODBC driver. Not enough time in roll-out plan to change the ODBC connection string in hundreds of Access SPT queries.
    Please help!

  • Installing Oracle ODBC driver from within another installation

My application requires ODBC driver. Is it possible/recommended
to install the driver from within my installation program (other
than invokig the ODBC's setup program)? If so, what are the
files that need to be installed, the registry entries that need
to be updated and other activities perfromed?
    Thanks
    Michael

In order for the ODBC driver to function properly, the Oracle
client must have been installed on the user's machine. If the
Oracle client has been successfully installed, users will have
    the Oracle ODBC driver.
Since the Oracle client install is very large as installers
go, you probably don't want to package this with your app. In
addition, the Oracle client installation is pretty significant
in terms of what it does, so you definitely don't want to try to
replicate that work in your installer.

  • Unable to Connect, ORA 12154, Setup routine for Microsoft ODBC errors

    Hi all,
I have a Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1 system and I wanted to be able to connect to an oracle database server. However, I am facing a problem with ODBC configuration.
I have currently installed both below in ... product\11.2.0\client_1 folder:
    1. Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
    2. 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
I launched ODBC Data Source Administrator and added a User DSN but resulted to two errors:
    1. The setup routines for the Microsoft ODBC for oracle ODBC driver could not be found. Please reintall the driver.
    2. The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the driver and application.
On top of that, if I go to System DSN tab, and tried to test the connection it give me an error:

Can someone please guide me through this? Thanks in advance!

    Hi all,
I have a Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1 system and I wanted to be able to connect to an oracle database server. However, I am facing a problem with ODBC configuration.
I have currently installed both below in ... product\11.2.0\client_1 folder:
    1. Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Client (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
    2. 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/downloads/index-090165.html
You only need one of these (the second one should suffice).
I launched ODBC Data Source Administrator and added a User DSN but resulted to two errors:
    1. The setup routines for the Microsoft ODBC for oracle ODBC driver could not be found. Please reintall the driver."Microsoft ODBC for Oracle" is a different provider than "Oracle ODBC". Make sure you're not using the Microsoft one.
    2. The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the driver and application. This can happen if you're mixing 32-bit and 64-bit. There's two ODBC control panels in Windows 7:
    - the 64 bit one is the one in control panel
    - the 32 bit one is c:\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe
Since you're using a 64 bit Oracle driver, you should be using the 64 bit ODBC administrator, and 64 bit applications. If you're trying to use this ODBC connection with a 32 bit application, you'll need to use the 32 bit ODBC (and the 32 bit Oracle driver).
On top of that, if I go to System DSN tab, and tried to test the connection it give me an error:
    1. Unable to connect SQLState = 08004 [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS: Could not resolved the identifier specified.Well that actually means it's loading Oracle correctly, so that's something. You need to add an entry for the server you want to connect to into tnsnames.ora, located in the \network\admin folder inside of your Oracle client installation. Since it sounds like someone else set up the server you want to connect to, your DBA should be able to provide the information that goes into the file.

  • ODBC Driver update

    Hi
I'm an Oracle novice, but have been fault-finding with an application at work, built in Powerbuilder, which seems to have issues with the ODBC driver that ships with Oracle 8.1.7
Basically, some date/time fields in the application are totally incorrect, and I suspect that an update to a newer version of the ODBC driver (newer than the vanilla one that ships with the install CD) will resolve the problem.
Unfortunately, however, I have absolutely no experience fiddling with Oracle, so I'm stumped as to how to go about this. A bit of research has led me to the Oracle site, where I have managed to download the driver update, (8.1.7.6) and I have ascertained that I need to run the Oracle Universal Installer and edit the tnsnames.ora file.
This is as far as I've got!
    Help! Please!

The Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) should be installed on your machine as part of the installation of the Oracle client. On Windows, there should be an Oracle Installation Products option in your Start menu that goes to the OUI. From there, you merely have to point the OUI at the JAR file for the ODBC driver upgrade you downloaded.

  • ODBC driver install failure

I'm trying to simply install the Oracle 9 odbc drivers on winxp/win2k boxes.
First, you have to install the Oracle Universal Installer, which is actually called the 'Oracle Software Packager' on the downloads screen.
Next, with the OUI, install the ODBC drivers (9.2.0.4). The OUI throws several errors in a row, and wont install the drivers.
Some of the support documents say that the Oracle Net Client needs to be installed first. All I want is the ODBC drivers, which will be used by Access/Excel/Brio/SQLServer to connect to an Oracle db.
Do I actually need to install this other piece of software to get the ODBC drivers?
If so, where can I find such a thing? There is no such software listed on the software downloads page, but given that the OUI is actually called something completely different on the software downloads page, I figure it may be named something else. Can someone please point me at the correct location?
    Thank you,
    Andrew

Yes, you need to install the Oracle client before you can install the ODBC drivers. If you go to download the database, there is a client only download option for Windows (the full database download has a client-only install option on all platforms). Be aware that even the client-only install is a rather hefty download.

  • Problem with oracle rdb + vb6 + new odbc driver 3.x

    dear all
i have a problem with the new odbc-driver 3.x for oracle rdb and vb6
connection to the database and the query are ok, there are not errors,
but the resultset is not right, because the fieldnames are allways called coloum1, coloum2,... anstead of the original fieldnames.
further the values of the fields are wrong, there allways appears onle the first sign of then value the should be (result "A" instead of "Andy",... )
    thanks for help

my platform is: Windows 2003 server R2 Enterprise x64 Edition Service Pack 2
My application run to 32 bit
the ODBC Data Source Administrator run from C:\Windows\system32\odbcad32.exe
    If I double-click on C:\Windows\system32\odbcad32.exe I can see only "Oracle in OraDb10g_home"
    In C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
If I double-click on C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe and "select a driver for which I want to setup a datasource" I can see many driver ODBC and if I try to add the "Oracle ODBC for Oracle" I get this error:
The setup routines for the "Oracle ODBC for Oracle" ODBC driver could not be load due the system error code 193.
Could not load the setup or translator library.
    Have someone any idea??

  • What means Rdb in "Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb" ...

... I assume data basse but what about the upper R ? ^^
    thanks

oh ok thanks, for OpenVMS platforms only and R as "relational" oki doki
I'm surprise that, when I'm looking for the oracle odbc driver 8, I find almost only result for Rdb, is it not compatible with a windows standard edition as 2000, xp ...

  • ODBC Driver for Import Integration Script?

My understanding is that for the Import Integration Script to work with an Oracle database we need to install the Oracle client and an ODBC driver on the FDM server. Since I don't have access to the server, and I'm not the one installing anything, I need to tell the installation group where to find the correct driver. I've seen the DataDirect/Merant driver used in the past. Is that the only odbc driver that works? Does that come with FDM? Where can I find the right driver to install?

    Hello,
As you know FDM is VB compliant. With that being said most anything that can be done inside of VBScripting can be done inside of FDM. Unfortunately it is not the responsibility of FDM to package/compile all drivers and information ... it probably would just be too large to accomidate.
If you want to leverage a technology/connection/etc then the respected technology must be installed. So if you are trying to connect to an Oracle DB then the correct software, setup and configuration files must be in place to make that happen.
In your instance, if you are going to connect to the Oracle DB you have two options:
    1. Native drivers (OLE DB Provider Drivers)
    2. Standard drivers (ODBC Drivers)
In either situation they must be able to actively and validly connect to the database. You can test the connections to your database by leveraging a test .UDL file and stepping through the connection pieces manually. Once you have determined a connection that will suit your needs you can then save the .UDL file and open it a text-editor to retrieve your connection string.
    Thank you,
