Standard Image for Deployment

Dear All...........I am looking to build a solution for our helpdesk who have to install OS and Applications to customers laptops on daily basis.
At the moment, I am trying to understand different aspects so there are some confusions which I would like for others to address:
1.  Can we create different OS Images as VMs for Deployment?  Is this possible? Or we can only have VHDs for different OS Images?
2.  Can we have an OS Image with VMs inside it to be deployed? Such as when we deploy an OS to a laptop, the deployed OS also has a VM inside it for use with legacy applications?
3.  Once OS is deployed on the laptop, I want users to access the applications through a centralized system and install them as they like it.  Applications should install on the laptop and run from there as well (no streaming)?  Is this possible.
4.   Keeping above requirements in mind, is it possible to implement User Experience Virtualization as well in this imaging scenario?  By keeping User Data and Settings somewhere else so that if they lose the laptop, new installation does
not take much time and not much data is lost either.
5.   In such a scenario, can we also implement Bitlocker in the OS Image? OR is it not possible?  If so, does Bitlocker support Data Leakage Protection?

    Hi All
I am doing a small project in ADF and would need images for icons like home, search - Can someone help me get images for standard icons in oracle ? Like the ones in the Oracle GIT page.

    Hi,
Oracle doesn't ship standard icons. However, if you Google for icons you find a range of them from royalty free to paid

  • Unable to create a disk image for mass deployment or to restore on other

I am attempting to create a master 10.5 Leopard image that can be deployed to other Macs, but the restore process fails with the following error:
*Restore Failure. Could not find any scan information. The source image needs to be imagedscanned/scanned for restore.*
I setup the master as I want it. I've booted from another drive and used Disk Utility to create a new image from Folder. (If I try to create a new image from drive, I get an error that the disk is in use.) I've run the checksum. I've run the scan image for restore. All process with out any errors.
The error mentioned above occurs when I try to restore the image to another computer.
Has anyone else been able to make a master image for deployment without using Leopard Server?

    Hello,
I am also getting a similar error, but not trying to create an image, but rather reading one I created before upgrading to Leopard. I was having some HD trouble (power surge during install of Quicktime 7.3) that put my HD in any unstable state (resistant to Disk Utility/Disk Warrior,) but fortunately, I'd cloned the HD w/ SuperDuper (anticipating possible trouble during the upgrade.) I then made a disk image of the BOOTCAMP partition on another drive. Now, after re-formatting the HD, installing Leopard and partitioning for Bootcamp, I am unable to scan the image before restoring the disk image to the HD. It might be a FAT32 thing, but I don't think so.
The error is: Unable to scan "disk0s3.dmg". (Invalid argument)
    The disk utility log is:
    2007-11-08 20:33:43 +0100: Scanning image “disk0s3.dmg”
    2007-11-08 20:33:53 +0100: cannot scan read/write images.
    2007-11-08 20:33:53 +0100: Unable to scan “disk0s3.dmg”. (Invalid argument)
    2007-11-08 20:33:53 +0100:
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Multipoint 2012: Same Desktop (Template/Image) for all stations possible?

How can I get the same Desktop on all stations?
    - same startpage in Internet Explorer
    - same search engine (e.g. fragfinn.de)
    - same Icons on Metro and Desktop
    - same background

Group Policy will do a lot of the things for you but it wasn't robust enough for my needs so I created an unattend.xml file for our sysprep image that accomplishes what you want. We've set up 3500 stations with this.
We have 700+ of the same servers, so I created the image exactly how I wanted it, down to where the desktop icons were located, customizations within Office products, classicshell.net start button replacement, drivers, etc. The trick is to create a normal
user account (not an administrator account) that will be copied over as your default profile when you sysprep the image. All users will get the account settings by default when you run sysprep. I suggest that you clean up this master user account as well,
by deleting temp, cache, and dump files that are not needed. You can do this after-the-fact by cleaning the C:\Users\Default profile, but you might as well do it now. Also, do NOT turn on DiskProtect or authenticate Windows. The unattend.xml file will authenticate
Windows for you and automatically log in as the administrator account so you can rename the server and join it to your domain if needed.
    1. Once you've got your image perfect, make a backup of the partition/drive BEFORE continuing, since if you ever want to make changes to your image (i.e. install Windows Updates, software, or new drivers), you'll need to restore from this backup. You can
do this with Ghost, Acronis, or some free ones out there.
    2. Log into your master user account that will be used for all users (DO NOT USE THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). For this example, I created a user called SysPrep.
    3. Open up a command prompt with "Run as Administrator" and run this command (replace "U:\SysPrep" with the drive and folder where you've saved your unattend.xml file). Your server will power off after a minute.
Do NOT turn your computer back on unless you're going to boot up to a CD/USB drive to capture an image or backup.
    C:\Windows\System32\SysPrep\sysprep.exe /oobe /generalize /shutdown /unattend:U:\SysPrep\unattend.xml
    4. Your drive is now ready to be used as a master drive for cloning to other hard drives. You have several options at this point but let me tell you what I did.
    A. Create a .wim file of the image to be used in ConfigManager. I was able to do this by booting up into WinPE and then running the imagex command as shown in the "Capture an Image for Deployment" section of this guide:
    http://www.danscourses.com/Windows-7-and-8/how-to-create-a-wim-system-image-file-with-windowsaik-and-windowspe.html
    B. I also purchased some StarTech.com SATDOCK4U3RE stand-alone hard drive duplicators with 3 StarTech.com 12in 22 Pin SATA Power and Data Extension Cables (Item: SATA22PEXT from MonoPrice) to make the transfer easier (I just plug the hard drives to the cable,
so I don't have to remove the hard drive enclosure). This allows you to copy the master hard drive to 3 other drives at the same time. It takes about 17 minutes to transfer the master drive to 3 other drives. I purchased 3 of these units, which was much cheaper
than purchasing one big unit that does more hard drives at the same time
    5. You'll want to do some cleanup after you've booted up a computer with the image. These commands (just put them in a .bat file and run as an administrator) will remove the unattend.xml files from the computer since they may include passwords and it will
remove the master user account (I called mine SysPrep) since you don't need that anymore. I have a TON of other commands that created for more customization, but that's beyond the scope of this message.
    del /Q /F c:\windows\system32\sysprep\unattend.xml
    del /Q /F c:\windows\panther\unattend.xml
    powershell -command "([ADSI]\"WinNT://$env:computername\").delete(\"user\",([ADSI]\"WinNT://$env:computername/SysPrep,User\").name.value)"
Okay, one last thing, since you asked about the background image. There are ways to get a different background image and I think you can do this in the unattend.xml file, but I sort of cheated and just replaced the master background image with my own (if
I remember correctly, the file was locked down, so I had to take ownership of it before I could replace it with my own). The downfall of this is that if you run a check/repair on your Windows system files (I can't remember the command for that) it'll "repair"
this background image and restore the old one. Here's the default background image: C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\Windows\img0.jpg
Here is the unattend.xml file that I created. You'll want to tweak it for your own. I take no responsibility if this messes up your system or doesn't work as expected, so make backups before using this. The magic of this unattend file is that the following
two lines allow the image to retain your drivers and most of your user profile settings (custom toolbars and pinned programs will not be retained).

  • Quick recovery image for internet based clients

    Hello all,
Imaging of internet based clients is not supported with SCCM, but is there any other (Microsoft) way to quickly recover to a standard image for internet based clients (we use MS Surface for our sales reps)? For example, putting an standard image on a seperate
partition with which you can instruct users by phone to redeploy their machine to an original configuration? I do not think that DaRT will solve my issue by the way.

I haven't implemented this myself. I just thought it was a cool idea. It's primarily designed to solve this problem with very small branch offices using Direct Access. You should contact 1E for more information
eg the step: "Prestage content using Nomad".
Where is the content coming from? Remember that this is designed for a small office so Nomad could be using peer-to-peer distribution here. Also, with Nomad, you could run that step outside the OSD task sequence so that the content will already
be available (by downloading slowly over time) when and if required.

  • Looking for deployment instructions PeopleSoft AMI instances on Amazon EC2

I am looking for deployment instructions on how to launch PeopleSoft AMI instances on Amazon EC2 platforms. There are many AMIs posted by both Oracle and Amazon together to deploy demo environment, and no where I found the installation/deployment instructions. Template instructions for the following AMIs is pointing to Oracle VM page, not Amazon's AWS instructions.
    https://aws.amazon.com/amis?ami_provider_id=4&selection=ami_provider_id
    Please help!

We're certainly aware of and interested in our customers' desire to use Amazon's infrastructure for a quick and inexpensive deployment of PeopleSoft for demo or pilot purposes. Please continue to use this forum to provide any feedback regarding Oracle applications, particularly PeopleSoft, deployed on Amazon EC2. We have appreciated the feedback we've seen regarding PeopleSoft OVM Templates. This forum has demonstrated the interest and enthusiasm customers and users have for PeopleSoft and virtualization.
As you are aware, Oracle has a number of broad statements regarding support for our products on the Amazon infrastructure. We are still reviewing the business and technical complexities associated with Oracle-built and delivered AMI's available directly from Amazon compared with our customers using our OVM images for deployment on Amazon's infrastructure. There is no official ETA for FSCM 9.1 and HCM 9.1 AMI's from Oracle.

  • Providing image for Standard Buttons on Application Forms

I've seen some postings on changing the standard buttons used in forms. Does anyone know if this has changed at all in Release 2? I want to put my own image for a button instead of the standard gray button and before doing the workarounds recommended, I want to know if this has been addressed in the new release.
    Thanks.

I am afraid, the new release does not include changes where you can replace buttons with images.

  • Step-by-Step Help Needed for Deploying Some Adobe Software

We are a K-12 educational institution.  I am currently working at setting up a computer lab with about 16 MacMini computers.
I'm VERY new to the realm of servers, deployment, using terminal, etc.
I've done lots of research to make it to where I am, but just can't wrap my head around what needs done next with the Adobe products.
I am using Server OSX (v3) and DeployStudio (v 1.6.3) to try and manage the computers.
Both my server and clients are running Mavericks 10.9.
I deployed my core images successfully and would like to now send Adobe products only the computers I choose since I have limited licenses.
We have volume licenses of Adobe InDesign CS6 and Photoshop Elements 12 that we would like to deploy.
I have been referencing the following sites, but just can't seem to wrap my head around the EXACT steps that need to be taken.

For Adobe InDesign CS6 - I've done the following:
Created an "Installation Package" using Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition (AAMEE v6.2.112.0) using the following instructions.
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/Ad obeApplicationManagerEnterpriseEditionDeploymentGuide_v_3_1.pdf
If I log into the client computer, put the package ON the client computer, and run it...it takes me through the install and works wonderfully. It's not automated like I wanted/thought I set it up to do. I have to click through the steps of the installer.
If I try to deploy it using the "Package install" Workflow in DeployStudio...it loads it during the workflow, then skips through it, acts like it installed it, but it isn't actually installed. Is there a setting that I need to possibly change somewhere?
For Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 - I'm a bit lost and mostly just have questions:
I know that I can't use AAMEE and need to use APTEE (Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition).
How do I deploy the software? Create my own Package using PackageMaker?
Which computer do I run APTEE on? All the instructions I can find just say, "do this" - but don't specify where.
Do I have to open terminal and run the commands on each client computer AFTER installing PE12?
    OR
Do I run the commands BEFORE deployment on my package stored on my server that is ready for deployment?
It really comes down to me just not 100% understanding how APTEE works.
I hope that pertrays my dilemma. I've tried to explain best I can.  If you have any questions - let me know!
Thanks in advance for any insight you can give!

  • Creating a USB boot image for LabviewRT

I have installed Labview 8.2 and the "update 8.2.1" for Labview RT Standard version from the web.
I am trying to create a bootable image for a target Laptop PC, using a USB jump drive.
When I run NI-MAX and select TOOLS->RT Disk Utilities->Create Desktop PC Utility USB Drive, a popup dialog appears that says:
"This utility will reformat a USB drive with a Labview Real-Time boot USB utility for use with a USB boot-capable Desktop PC. Make sure the USB drive is connected to your computer before you continue.
Do you want to use this utility?"
Clicking on Yes, shows a dialog selection window, with a single entry ="Version 8.2", and an OK and Cancel button.
Selecting the OK button, shows an error popup titled: Measurement & Automation Explorer" with text="Unable to detect USB drives"
The jump drive is 32MB and is visible in WINDOWS Explorer.
WHY will NI-MAX not see or use this jump-drive ?
( I have tried two different jump drives from two different manufacturers)

    Hello,
Does your jump drive conform to the USB Mass Storage Device Class?  What drive letter are you using?  Did you create it by running the command line utility "subst"?
Have you tried doing this on a different computer?  Are the USB ports 1.1 or 2.0?

  • Attaching Attributes to Image For Loading to SharePoint Document Library

We currently have a need to create a searchable document library which will consist solely of images. The standard metadata for a file/image won't suffice in this case. We have some custom attributes that will need to be searchable.
Essentially, we will have a library of receipt images for expense reporting purposes. We get these images from a third party who handles all of our expense reporting. There are two large zipped files we receive: one file contains all the actual expense report
"data" that was processed that day(amount, date, client, job, etc.) and the second file contains all the receipt images for those expense report items. Each data file contains data for individual expense reports, and each expense report is assigned
a unique ID. Each line item in an expense report is also assigned a unique ID. Lastly, each receipt image for a line item of a specific expense report is also assigned a unique ID.
The zipped image file only contains images. There is a main image file - this contains several smaller zipped files. Each of the smaller zipped files contains all receipt images for a specific expense report. Each image file name is comprosed of three parts:
The expense report identifier, the unique image identifier, and the expense report line item identifier.
So, to put this all into perspective:
On Thursday, we received an image file named extract_images_p006320452r3_20140904171423
This file contained images for the following unique expense reports:
The compressed file 95FB8C488519427793FC contains the following receipt images:
The "data" file - as mentioned before - contains the actual info about the expense and image. These include: date of transaction, date approved, vendor, amount. GL code, type, function, client, project, billable or not, and several other attributes.
All of this information - including the location of the images - is stored in a SQL Server database and then placed in an SSAS cube.
The images are related back to the underlying data via the expense report id, and line item id.
What I need to be able to do is to somehow "tag" these images with all their underlying attributes, load then into a SharePoint document library, and make them searchable.
I have already figured out that I would need to create several SharePoint lists based on the available values in my OLAP cube (essentially a dataset each for clients, vendors, etc.). The part I have no idea how to accomplish is how to tag each image with
    its respective information.
All the pertinent info is stored in the database tables, just don't know how to attach it to each image.
Hopefully, this made some kind of sense. If anyone has any idea on how to even remotely accomplish such a thing, your input would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    A. M. Robinson

You will have to develop a custom solution to do this. I am assuming you have taken the first steps to define separate document libraries for the expense reports and images along with site columns and contenttypes. You would define the site columns based
on the data you want to search on and assign these to corresponding contenttypes. So basically a contenttype for expense reports and receipts possibly. You would link the two contenttypes using the expense report id.
Your custom solution would have to break apart the zip files and upload and index (set site column data) for each file. Then the user could search on the expense report id and get all the files associated with the expense report.
An alternative could be to use one document library and have all the files uploaded into their own document set (folder).

  • How can we change the  color of the image for product display for different

    Hi All,
How can we change the  color of the image for product display for different colors, to be displayed on site.
    jeff

    Hi priya,
The requirement that you have stated is not a standard feature in ISA CRM. In order to do the same, you will need to modify the standard ISA code in Java. A common path for the solution would be as follows:
    1. Colours
        a. Maintain a text type for Color under the object - PCAT_ITM in Customizing.
        b. Modify the standard search of ISA to search within your new text type as well. (In standard it only searches in Description.
       c. Maintain all shirts colour data in the new type created in step a.
       d. Your requirement will be done!
    2. Price
      a. Use list prices for your shop and assign the appropriate condition type, acces in your catalog.
      b. Modify the standard search of ISA to search on the list prices as well.
      c. This too will be done!
    3. Accessories - This is very tricky, and will require some exploration. However, here's my opinion,
    a. Search for the standard function module, which will return the accessories when provided the product as an input.
    b. Modify this function module according to your requirement and ensure that it can be accessed remotely.
    c. Modify the JSP as in steps 1b and 2b above to call this new remote-enabled function module.
    d. Now you're done!!
The ISA modification part is not so simple, you need a really good guy like "Sateesh Chandra" who'll be able to handle your requirements. This is all I could manage, hope it is some help to you!
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nelson.

  • Setting background image for repeating frame in .pdf report

Is it possible to set a background image for a repeating frame, and more specifically for a repeating frame rendered in .pdf?
I do not see any standard property in the navigator for images of any sort and the documentation touches only on setting background images for graphs, which is not the intent in my case. I -did- add an HTML table property background="myimage.jpg" but the report is ultimately generated in .pdf format and I was not surprised to see that the image was not rendered.
Does anyone know if setting a background image as described is even possible, and if so, how? A second but less optimum solution would be setting the image as the background for all report pages, again in .pdf.
    Many thanks.

    Hi Raj,
Yes you can have an image in the background. Thats possible if you are using XML forms as an iview or ivew dev in WebDynpro...

  • Background-image for commandToolbarButton

    Hi,
I want to skin af:commandToolbarButton similar to standard skinned commandbutton.
I managed to change the background-image for the link-section, but there seems to be a other section with a background-image which is a little bit bigger than the link-section.
But I can't find how to e.g. disable this background-image when mouse is moved over the commandtoolbarbutton.
Here my CSS definition for the hover-action:
    ================================
    af|commandToolbarButton:hover,
    af|commandToolbarButton::link:hover,
    af|commandToolbarButton::text:hover
    background-image: none;
    border : none;
    ============================
    What's my mistake?
    regards
    Peter

    Hi,
if you extend an existing skin then you need to use
    -tr-inhibit: background-image
Here's a list of the valid CSS
    af|commandToolbarButton
Style on the root element of the af:commandToolbarButton component. This style includes the .AFDefaultFont:alias style. CommandToolbarButton supports further styling with the :hover, :depressed, :selected, :disabled, :text-only and :action-disabled pseudo-classes.
    af|commandToolbarButton::access-key
Style on the access key for the label of the af:commandToolbarButton component. For example, underline the access key. Includes .AFFormAccessKeyStyle:alias.
    af|commandToolbarButton::link
Style on the button link on the af:commandToolbarButton component.
af|commandToolbarButton::text      Style on the button text on the af:commandToolbarButton component.
    af|commandToolbarButton::dropdown-cell
Style on the cell containing the dropdown icon used for the popup button of the af:commandToolbarButton component.
    af|commandToolbarButton::dropdown-icon-style
Style of the icon used for the popup button of the af:commandToolbarButton component. The icon is specified as a background-image in this key. To override the default icon, set -tr-inhibit: background-image in the dropdown-icon-style and define the override icon for the dropdown-icon.

  • Alternate thumbnail images for PDF

Is there a way to export an InDesign file as a PDF and have an alternate PDF thumbnail image (one that's not the first page of the document or the standard Adobe logo)? For example, I want to use a company logo as the PDF thumbnail image for all collateral exported out of InDesign, but it wouldn't necessarily be part of the document. Thanks!

  • Standard process for creating a new version of an existing report

    Hi All,
We are using Siebel 8.1 with BI Publisher.
Does any one know the standard process for creating a new version of an existing report - ie if 'BIP Report XXX' is created and works correctly from the siebel view but then an enhancement is developed, how is the enhancement deployed so that the new version completely replaces the old?
    One suggestion was:
You can upload a new version of an existing report. You have to navigate to Administration - BIP > Report Template Registration... search for the report you need to replace (I would say that the new rtf file need to have the same name). Now you have to go to the "Template" column where there is the reference to the report file already uploaded but you don't have to click on the link that is displayed you have to click near the link in order to place the cursor on the field then you will be able to see the Multi Value Grup icon .. you click on it and you will be able to upload a new file.
We have tested this process today, however it is not effective in replacing the old version of the report.
After carrying out this process (including related steps from bookshelf - ie "click upload files"), we can generate the report from the relevant siebel view and the previous version of the report is still generated.
Is there a standard process for replacing an existing report that is effective?
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
This currently seems like a bug , we have encountered this too.
work around is you have to delete the rtf files from server Siebel\client\temp\XMLP directory and upload them again so that they are not cached any more.
same on dedicated client you may have to delete relavant files form siebel\client\temp\xmlp directory and upload again.
    Thanks,
    Vamsi
