Standbylog
Hello
Oracle 10g.
I`ve created standby redologs on both primary and standby.
I can see the standby redologs from v$standby_log.
I also switched to lgwr async mode. (max performance)
How can I ensure wheter the standby redologs are being used or not?
Is there way to see that ?

As far as I know, if we use standby redologs, archivelog is generated as soon as they are filled up.
Is it necessary to archive standby redologs if the real time apply is enabled ?
I dont think it is required, is there way to disable standby log archiving ?

Notice how RFS writes to the Standby Redo Logs and then after that How ARC writes the Archived Redo Logs Files.
I truly believe this Figure answers :
Where do the archivelogs in standby server come from?If you agree please mark this helpful. If you disagree I will back off and let somebody else take a shot at the question.

DataGuard Standby 環境で db が open できない.
DataGuard Standby 環境で db が open できなくて困っています。
詳しい方いれば、原因と対処方法を教えていただきたいと思います。
create した spfile が正確に読み込まれていないことが原因のようなのですが。。
なぜ読み込めないのかが分からない状態です。
pfile を読み込んだ起動は可能ですが、spfile を読み込んだ起動の前提条件とは、
何なのでしょうか。単に整合性が取れていないだけなのか、それとも、、。

ORA-12154 は整合性の問題であるので、それを合わせれば消えると思っています。
そもそも RAC を前提としていたのですが、それを standalone に置き換えて検証始めた結果、
こうなってしまっています。
open できない原因が ORA-12154 だったりして。。
■ プライマリの場合
○ open するほうは、シンプルに以下だけで open することが確認できる。
が、db_name を変更した関係で
「ORA-12154: TNS: 指定された接続識別子を解決できませんでした」
が出続けている。
ORA-12154 は db が open できない原因とは無関係かもしれない。
srvctl stop database -d east -f

We have 10gR2 RAC with Physical Data Guard environment using ASM and both have same disk group names. Lets say the primary database name is prim and stand by database name is stdby. We are getting the following errors in alert log file of standby:

Best regards,Generally when we setup standby, are these directories created automatically (i mean '+DG_DATAFILES_AND_FB/prim and '+DG_DATAFILES_AND_FB/stdby) on standby? My understanding is that by default only '+DG_DATAFILES_AND_FB/stdby is created.
What if i want to put all logs (that are in stdby and prim) in +DG_DATAFILES_AND_FB/stdby?What is the value of DB_CREATE_FILE_DEST and you also set DB_CREATE_ONLINE_LOG_DEST_<> value?
Also i don't know whether it is relevant or not, but we performed a roll forward for standby using metalink doc id: 836986.1 (Steps to perform for Rolling forward a standby database using RMAN incremental backup when primary and standby are in ASM filesystem). But i am not sure whether the error started coming after that or not.
But in the beginning for sure, there were no such errors. Just trying to put as much information as i can.Even though you are using same disk groups, But the sub directory names such as "prim","stby" are different,
After you changed the values of DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT/LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT have you bounced database ? They are static parameters.
Bounce it and then start MRP, initally errors are expected even it happens during RMAN duplicate.
logfile member shows in database but not on physical disk, not match
if you haven't used RMAN duplicate then drop and create redo logs, this can be done at any time. -
Dataguard - Primary not applying logs to Standby
Having an issue applying logs to the standby, seemingly it's not setup correctly. I am sure I'm missing something simple here, but would love any input or help. Thanks in advance.

Add the database unique name (db_unique_name) of the primary database to the log_archive_config of the standby database
On the standby, your log_archive_config should be something like

I'm a bit confused about standby log files
Hi all,
I'm a bit confused about something and wondering if someone can explain.
I have a Primary database that ships logs to a Logical Standby database.
Everything appears to be working properly. If I check the v$archived_log table in the Primary and compare it to the dba_logstdby_log view in the Logical Standby, I'm seeing that logs are being applied.
On the logical standby, I have the following configured for log_archive_dest_n parameters:

Before converting from a Physical standby database to a Logical Standby database, I was under the impression that I needed the standby logs (i.e. log_archive_dest_5, 6 and 7 above) because a Physical Standby database would receive the redo from the primary and write it into the standby logs before applying the redo in the standby logs to the Physical standby database.
I've now converted to a Logical Standby database. What's happening is that the standby logs are accumulating in the directory pointed to by log_archive_dest_6 above (/u02/oracle/standbylogs/ORADB1). They do not appear to be getting cleaned up by the database.
In the Logical Standby database I do have STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT parameter set to AUTO. Can anyone explain to me why standby log files would continue to accumulate and how I can get the Logical Standby database to remove them after they are no longer needed on the LSB db?

If that is your question, my answer is that I just figured more than one location would be safer but I could be wrong about this. Can you tell me if only one location should be sufficient for the standby logs? The more I think of this, that is probably correct because I assume that Log Transport services will re-request the log from the Primary database if there is some kind of error at the standby location with the standby log. Is this correct?As simple configure as below. Why more multiple destinations for standby?

Hey guys,
I have a problem.
My dataguard setup is writing into the filesystem and I don´t know why !!!
standby_archive_dest='dgsby_<sid>'
db_recovery_file_dest='+FLASH';
When I change standby_archive_dest to another value (eg. +FLASH/standbylog)
Dataguard comes and overwrites this data back to dgsby_<sid>
Why is the system using dgsby even when db_recovery_file_dest is set and why can´t I change the destination to the flash area ?
When I change it "Live" dataguard logfile comes up with inconstent archive_dest parameters....
Env:
2x 3nodes RAC on 10.2 on SLES9I do not understand it.
No way of telling DataGuard to use my flash recovery area ?
Can anyone tell me the way of setting the standby destination to the flash area ?
What I already tried:
I disabled the DG configuration
log_archive_dest_2='location="+FLASH/DB1/standbylog", valid_for=(STANDBY_LOGFILE,STANDBY_ROLE)';
standby_archive_dest='+FLASH/DB1/standbylog'
db_recovery_file_dest=+FLASH
Re-enabled the DG configuration:
--> DG overwrites my settings, sets the log_archive_dest_2 to location="dgsby_db1", valid_for=(STANDBY_LOGFILE,STANDBY_ROLE)';
--> standbylogs get written into the filesystem....

Consolidate datafiles while using impdp
Dear All,
We are trying to move the data from a 10gR2 Environment to 11gR2 Environment using the data pump. In the 10gR2 environment, we have multiple datafiles for many tablespaces and we would like to create fewer datafiles in the 11gR2 environment. We have RAC in both environment and are using ASM. Also the disk group names in both environments are different. Below are two scenarios:

Hey,
in my db configuration ( I didn´t setup the database) I have a configuration, where the RedoLogGroups have 3 Groups with 4 members each.
The standbylogs for the standbydatabase have 3 groups and 5 members.
Does that make any sense ? I know that it will work, but wouldn´t it be better to just have 4 members in each group for the standby logfiles ?
Does it have any performance impact or other issues ?

Step 2 Determine the appropriate number of standby redo log file groups.+
Minimally, the configuration should have one more standby redo log file group than the number of online redo log file groups on the primary database. However, the recommended number of standby redo log file groups is dependent on the number of threads on the primary database. Use the following equation to determine an appropriate number of standby redo log file groups:
(maximum number of logfiles for each thread + 1) * maximum number of threads
Using this equation reduces the likelihood that the primary instance's log writer (LGWR) process will be blocked because a standby redo log file cannot be allocated on the standby database. For example, if the primary database has 2 log files for each thread and 2 threads, then 6 standby redo log file groups are needed on the standby database.{color}
