Start HTTP Server on Oracle 9.2.0.1 Server version

I have Used Oracle 9.2.0.1 server edition on Windows 2000 server with service pack 4 platform. I want to know how could I start HTTP Server?
When I start HTTP server from Strat > Program > Oracle Ora home 92 > Oracle HTTP Server > start HTTP server powered by Apache then error comes as below..
'Access is denied : FastCGI : create Mutex () failed...

What does the error_log of the Oracle Apache HTTP server say? This is typically in the $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs directory.
Weird that a mutex create failed. Without the actual o/s error code that resulted, it is difficult to diagnose the problem. Anything in the Application (or Security) Event Log? Access denied seems to indicate an ACL failure of sorts.
You could also disable FastCGI - it is not very often used and APEX (mod_plsql) does not need it. The httpd.conf file (in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf) can be edited to disable FastCGI.

  • Oracle 9I Database, and Mobile Server install history

    Dear Oracle technical representative:
    This TAR started out as a true request for help in solving installation problems with Oracle 9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, and Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1, but it has turned into a history of frustration with out of date, laconic, and often incorrect, and misleading documentation. As a software developer, I understand that documentation is always out of date, at least mine is. Nonetheless, I must speak my mind while understanding, and sympathizing with your situation.
    I struggled through the documentation, and managed to get everything working. While I was doing that, I wrote down the step by step procedure that I used to get Database, and Mobile Server running. By sharing this rough install history with you, it is my hope that it will help prevent others from experiencing the same difficulties that I have had. It has been my observation that when a user has problems installing a trial software package they give up quickly, and do not purchase a copy. It is thus extremely important that the installation instructions, and quick start guide be accurate, attentive to detail, and well written. The first impression is the one that counts.
    The Oracle 9i Lite Installation, and Configuration Guide for Windows NT shipped with Oracle 9i Lite Release 5.0.1 definitely requires, and emergency rewrite. It is terribly out of date, inaccurate, and laconic. My guess is that it is a very sloppy rewrite of poorly written 8i documentation. The Oracle 9i Database Installation Guide for Windows is somewhat better. It however should do a better job informing you that before installing onto a old server the Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC), and VC runtime libraries must be up to date. The history describes the trouble with not having the MFC42.dll at version 6. Another corker is that the default port the installer presents is 2030, and not 1521, and that leads to major confusion in the both the Database, and Mobile Server installs.
    Thank you for looking at the history. I hope that it will be of use to you when you update your documentation.

    TAR for Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Enterprise Edition, and Oracle Lite Release 5.0.1 Mobile Server
    Installation problems are highlighted in red.
    Installation sequence/history:
         1. Installed Windows NT 4.0 Server SP1 on Dell Power Edge 4300 dual x86 server to wipe the slate clean.
         2. Setup TCP/IP, and IPX/SPX networks
              Computer name YGGDRASILL
              Host name = YGGDRASILL
              Domain = CFR.MSSTATE.EDU
              Internet name = YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSATE.EDU = 130.18.130.225
         3. Installed NT SP3, and Internet Explorer 4.01 from the NT 40 Options Pack CD as the gateway to installing MTS 2.0, and IIS 4.0.
         4. Installed MTS 2.0, and IIS 4.0 from NT 4.0 Optins Pack CD.
         5. Applied NT 4.0 SP6.
         6. Installed Internet Explorer 5.5 as a prerequisite to installing MADAC 2.6.
         7. Installed MDAC 2.6
         8. Installed Paint Shop Pro 7 for capturing error screens.
         9. As previous install errors stated that the ordinal function xxxx could not be found in MFC42.dll, the latest version (6.0.8665.0) of the dll was installed, and registered from MS VC++ SP5. Also I upgraded MSVCIRT.dll, MSVCRT.dll, MSCRT40.dll, and added MSVC60.dll from SP5 to be on the safe side.
    According to the installation documents all the prerequisites for installing Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Enterprise Edition are satisfied.
         10. Began install of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition with target parameters:
              Home directory = D:\Oracle\Ora92
              Database directory = D:\Oracle\oradata
              Global database name = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU
              Port = 2030
              SID = FIA
              SYSTEM Password = phwphw
              SYS Password = phwphw
              SCOTT Password = phwphw
              DBSNMP Password = I left this one unassigned or empty.
              tnsnames.ora entry for remote TCP/IP connection
              a. CD 1 of 3 load
                   1. Error writting to MFC42u.dll. Action ignore. A check indicated that MFC42u.dll version did not match the updated version of MFC42.dll. Plan is to update after install. Unicode version of MFC is probably not used by the installer.
              b. CD 1 completed with only one problem, and CD 2 load begins.
              c. CD 2 installed without incident., and CD 3 load begins, and completes without farther problems. The only issue to address at this time is to update the MFC42u.dll.
                   HTTP Server URLs
                        http://7778
                        https://4443
         12. Evaluation of install success begins.
              a. Oracle HTTP Service will not start. It is of particular interest that on installs that I do not upgrade the MFC42.dll the Oracle HTTP Service will start correctly, but during the install I get the error message Ordinal nnnn not found in MFC42.dll, and the Oracle MTS Recovery Service crashes during the install. I am caught between a rock and hard spot on this one. See the Figure 1. At the end of this document. I do not need the HTTP Server at this time but I will need it later and this issue must be resolved. It appears that it hangs during startup. I am sorry but I lost the ordinal number nnnn.
              When I try to start the HTTP server from the Programs menu. It Hangs, and does not return an error message. See Figure 2, and the included Apache Setup.txt, the install log, and the HTTPd.conf . The conf, and setup files look OK to me. What is the problem?
              b. All other services start correctly.
              c. Logged into the database as SCOTT on the server with SQL Plus using the connection information:
                   FIA.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU =
                   (DESCRIPTION =
                   (ADDRESS_LIST =
                   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yggdrasill)(PORT = 1521))
                   (CONNECT_DATA =
                   (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                   (SERVICE_NAME = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU)
              I created some tables, inserted data, and queried for the data. Everthing seems to be working correctly.
              d. Logged in remotely from my AOL account on a dial-up line using Oracle 9i Release 2 Personal Edition installed on my ThinkPad. Every thing tested out as above. I used the connection information:
                   FIA.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU =
                   (DESCRIPTION =
                   (ADDRESS_LIST =
                   (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu)(PORT = 1521))
                   (CONNECT_DATA =
                   (SERVER = DEDICATED)
                   (SERVICE_NAME = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU)
         13. I concluded that except for the Oracle HTTP Server Service not starting correctly, and that after updating the MFC42u.dll to VC++ SP5 level the stage is set for installing Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1. I copied the MFC42u.dll to the server and registered it successfully.
         14. As Visual Studio 6.0 Professional updates all of the MFC stuff, I decides to install it at this juncture, and apply SP5.
         15. Installed JDK1.3.1 required for Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1
    At this time the prerequisites for installing Oracle 9i Mobile Server Release 5.0.1 are satisfied, and MFC, and rt are at version 6.
    It is important to note that after installing MS Visual Studio Professional 6.0 SP5, the HTTP server started working. It is clear that prior to installing Oracle Database it is essential that MFC, and possibly other components are upgraded before starting an installation of Oracle. This probably only applies to old NT servers, but it should be mentioned in the installation instructions.
         16. Attempt to install Oracle Mobile Server Release 5.0.1
              a. File locations Screen
                   Name: = OraLite501
                   Path: = D:\OraLite501
              b. Select Mobile Server at Installation Screen
              c. Mobile Server Repository Database Information Screen
                   Hostname = YGGDRASILL = hostname from tnsnames.ora
                   Port = 2030 = same as Database port
                        It is troublesome that the port in tsnames.ora is 1521, and not 2030 as was specified in the database install. I will try this port on the reinstall. On the retry, it worked. The problem was that I was mislead by the default port of 2030 at the database install. The database was actually installed on port 1521, and I was not given an error message, or warning. As I am a first time installer of Oracle products this threw me for a loop. The default port for the database needs to be 1521, if regardless of what the user specifies for a port you are going to install on port 1521.
                   Net Service Name = FIA.YGGDRASILL.CFR.MSSTATE.EDU = Global database name as required by installation instructions.
              d. Yes. At Do you want to install the Mobile Server Repository question.
              e. At Oracle Protocol Support, I checked the SPX box.
              f. Summary, and Install screens function to specifications.
              g. Mobile Server Repository Wizard
                   Database System password:
                        Password = phwphw
              h. Mobile Server Repository Wizard
                   Schema Name: fiafield
                   Password : fiafield
              i. Success at last with the install part. The problem was the wrong port number. See my above comments on this problem, and how Oracle could grease the skids for the next first time installer.
         j. I could not find the httpd.conf file in the place the install instructions said it should be for running the Mobile Server in Oracle HTTP Server. Since only one copy of httpd.conf existed, I added the include D:\OraLite501\mobile\server\bin\wtgias.conf to the bottom of the file assuming that it is the correct one. I the re-booted instead of using apache -k restart. The Oracle HTTP Server started, so there is hope. The install instructions state that the httpd.conf file would most likely be in the program files directory, when they are really installed in the Oracle Lite home directory.
         k. According to the documentation the Mobile Server should start when the Oracle HTTP Server starts with the wtgias.conf file added to the httpd.conf file. It does not. If I use Process Explorer, I know that Apache loaded the wtgias.conf, because both Apache.exe processes that are running have the wtgias.dll loaded. The facts are at this stage of the game are
              1. OraMTSRecoveryService is started
              2. OracleOraHome92HTTPService is started
              3. OracleOraHome92Listener is started on port
              4. OracleServiceFIA is started
              5. Apache.exe has the wtgias.dll loaded
              6. The Moble Server is not running and it should be if the documentation is correct.
              7. If I start the Mobile Server either as a service using wtgsvc -i or with the webtogo command from the DOS prompt, the Mobile Server starts, but when I attempt to log in with the URL http://Yggdrasill:7778/webtogo/startup it inform me the Mobile Server is not started and it is. Figure 3 shows the response I receive from the login attempt.
         l. I finally ran the Mobile Server in total debug mode using the command webtogo -d0", and it gave me the subtle hint that the correct URL is
              http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu/webtogo/startup.
         When I use the above URL and I can login to the Mobile Server with UN = fiafield, and PW = fiafield. I was confused by the documentation. I was under the assumption that the host address would be either http://Yggdrasill:7778, or http://Yggdrasill:4443. After all when I, installed Oracle Database these URLs were listed. It needs to be made clear in the installation guide for the mobile server that the Mobile Server address is http://Your servers WWW address/webtogo/startup, and the statements about the Mobile Server will start when the Oracle HTTP Server is started needs to be removed since they are incorrect. Also, the documentation should clearly state that the Schema Name, and Password given in the Repository Wizard Screen are synonymous with the username, and password for the Mobile Server login.
         m. After determning the hard way that the Mobile Server does not start when the the Oracle HTTP Server starts, and that the correct URL is http://Internet address/webtogo/startup = http://Yggdrasill.cfr.msstate.edu/webtogo/startup, I decide to start the Mobile Server as a service with the command wtgsvc -i. After I re-booted, to my surprise, I could not login to the Mobile Server. When I checked the system services, the webtogo service was running. So to give the start as a service thing a fair chance I re-booted again, but obtained the same results. I thus concluded that the Mobile Server will not run correctly as a service. As it turns out my conclusion was wrong. After waiting a few minutes, my login try was successful. The documentation should indicate that after booting it may be a minute or two before the Mobile Server service become available.
         n. After some serious problems with the installer, and the documentation everything is working. I have a green light to go on to the next stage, which is program the handheld to take advantage of the Mobile Server. I will be glad to get back to programming, and am so thankful that I am not a network administrator.

  • Dual contection between SQL Server and Oracle 10g

    Hi.
    I have the following scenario:
    - a MS SQL Server database with some data i'd like to tranfer to an Oracle XE or SE database.
    - The idea would be to start a process (possibly on the SQL Server DB) to gather and transform certain data and then, connect to an Oracle Db an insert the data.
    I'm good working with Oracle Forms, and i know i can connect to an MS SQL Server using odbc (forms 6i). So obviously, my first choice would be using forms6i to create some text files (using text_io) as a temporary storage and later connect to Oracle DB read and process text files. Another option which i'm not familiar in 6i would be using the EXEC_SQL package.
    Apart from this solution, i wonder whether it's possible to create a stored procedure somewhere and have it execute from a deamon or something. This of course depends on the possibility of establish a dual connection between the two DBs.
    Thanks in advance ...!

    Luis,
    The documentation for Generic Connectivity is here:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14232/gencon.htm#sthref343
    But it is pretty confusing. There is a nice easy and complete example here: http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950:8:::::F4950_P8_DISPLAYID:4406709207206#18830681837358
    It shows a connection to MS Excel, but connecting to SQL Server is the same - just use a different ODBC driver.

  • MS SQL Server to Oracle

    I am going to write all of the steps here that I have used trying to connect Oracle to MS SQL Server, so that others may benefit. I spent a few days using the following document, but in the end it turned out to be fairly incomplete, and I was frustrated by the amount of time that I had wasted.
    "Using Heterogeneous Services"
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96544/admin.htm#169356
    This document could be substantially improved with just three additions:
    1. A clear distinction between tasks which are to be performed on the MS SQL Server hardware vs. the Oracle server,
    2. More meaningful naming conventions in the examples instead of "Sybase_sales" and "SalesDB", that give you an idea of whether they refer to an Oracle Instance, a SQL Server Database, or something else,
    3. Some mention of Oracle Transparent Gateway, and the fact that it needs to be installed for any of this to work.
    I fully recognize the fact that I am still somewhat in the dark because I havn't gotten it to work yet; however, I wanted to mention that I began working for Oracle Consulting in 1990, and have been an independent Oracle Consultant since 1995. Therefore; the documentation for Heterogeneous Connectivity has not been adequate for a somewhat experienced Oracle developer.
    Below are the steps that I have performed:

    How to use TG4MSQL with MS SQL Server Instances
    Microsoft introduced with MS SQL Server 2000 the concept of "instances".
    All older releases (6.5 or 7.0) running on the same machine as a
    SQL Server 2k act as a DEFAULT instance. The same is true for the first
    installation of a MS SQL SERVER 2k on a PC.
    All further installations of MS SQL Server 2k on the same machine are
    named instances; this means a name must be provided during the
    MS installation routine for this instance.
    How to configure TG4MSQL in detail is described in
    Note 231458.1 named HOW TO SETUP TG4MSQL
    If there is only a default instance of MS SQL Server running, the parameter
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO is configured as:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = <server name>.<database name>
    Method I:
    This method is the fastest, but might cause problems if the MS SQL Server
    is not listening on the default port. Give it a try, but if this method
    causes troubles, please proceed to method 2.
    The simplest way to work with instances is to specify the connect details in
    the init.ora of the TG4MSQL.
    The connect info contains the server name of the MS SQL Server, the instance
    name and the database of the instance:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO="<SERVER NAME>\\<INSTANCE NAME>.<DATABASE>"
    If the server name is SQLSERVER and the instance name is instance2, the connect
    string to the Northwind database looks like:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO="SQLSERVER\\instance2.Northwind"
    Similar to the description above is the connect information:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO="SERVER=<SERVER NAME>\\<INSTANCE NAME>;DATABASE=<DATABASE>"
    (HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO="SERVER=SQLSERVER\\instance2; DATABASE=Northwind" )
    Method II:
    This method can be used also to connect to a MS SQL Server not listening
    on the default port 1433.
    It is based on using ALIASes:
    If the MS SQL Server port or an alias is used instead of the servername,
    the following registry key will be checked:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
    SOFTWARE\
    Microsoft\
    MSSQLServer\
    ConnectTo
    Microsoft provides a Client Configuration Tool to pass all parameters into the
    registy (for example run PROFILER, click on options and execute the
    Client Config Tool).
    If there is no SQL Server client installed on the gateway machine, an idea
    could be to configure it on the MS SQL Server, export the registry key and
    import it again on the TG4MSQL machine. Please contact Microsoft about details.
    This registry key is responsible for the connection details to the MS SQL Server.
    While dealing with INSTANCEs or changing the MS SQL Server to listen on a
    networking port other then 1433 (MS default port for SQL Server) the SUBKEY
    ConnectTo is used to verify the connect details.
    The Micrososft Client Configuration Utility configures ALIASes.
    To work with a second instance of the MS SQL Server, an ALIAS for this
    instance must be added.
    This tool asks to choose a Serveralias (a name you can define on your own)
    and to specify the Server name.
    Normally the server name is equal to the IP address or to the hostname of
    the MSQ SQL Server machine. But while working with instances the instance name
    must be specified as well. The instance name is separated by TWO back slashes
    from the server name.
    For a better explanation the value for for the Server alias is "instance2alias" and
    for the server name it is MSSQLSERVER. The sample name of the second instance is
    INSTANCE2.
    In the config tool type instance2alias into the entry filed of the server alias
    and type MSSQLSERVER\\INSTANCE2 as server name.
    Furthermore the default option is to figure out the MS SQL Server Ports dynamically.
    If you do not want to detect them automatically, add the port of your SQL
    Server is listening on; default is 1433. For this example port 1868 is used.
    After applying this the ALIAS is saved into the registry:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo]
    and it contains the following connect information:
    "instance2alias"="DBMSSOCN,MSSQLSERVER\\INSTANCE2,1868"
    The first parameter is the SQL Server alias, the second is a MS key word and
    the next value is the hostname delimited by two back slashes from the instance
    name.
    Comment: Default instances do not have an entry here.
    The last parameter is the port if it is not detected automatically.
    If you have any questions about creating SQL Server aliases or what to
    fill into the according columns, please contact Microsoft Support!
    There is also a good note in the MS knowledge base:
    Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 265808
    INF: How to Connect to an SQL Server 2000 Named Instance
    with the Previous Version's Client Tools
    Back to the Gateway configuration:
    Oracle Transparent Gateway is able to work with MS SQL Server instances;
    instead of specifying the <servername> at HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO, the
    <alias> must be specified.
    For this example the parameter looks like:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = instance2alias.master

  • Error in downloading jars through jnlp from Oracle 10.1.3 App Server

    I am working on migrating an application (containing two WARs) from Resin servlet server to Oracle 10.1.3 App Server. The migration was unit tested successfully. One of the WARs was implemented as a web service that downloaded JARs to the client PC through jnlp. When I tried to combine the two WARs into one (application) WAR, some of the JARs failed to download with an error message stating that they were "corrupted". 5 of the 6 "corrupted" contain native code, although two other native code JARs were able to download successfully.
    Most of the time the jnlp failure was accompanied with this error: WARNING: Exception returned by remote server: {0}

    Hi Marc ,
    Thanks for your reply.....
    Did you mentioning the script (upgrade_10131_
    10133_oracle.sql) in the orabpel. I had run this script after applying the patch.
    Still iam facing the same issue.
    what need to be done?
    Could you please help me on this, because I need to do the Fault Handling Framework in BPEL and so i need the faultpolicy folder to be present.
    Since I got the folder by applying the patch, but what happend is when i try to check out for the activity status in the BPEL Console Activity tab it is showing the error as mentioned earlier. Any problem with patch implementation or any bug is there. So far i done the patch installation successfully without error and i upgraded the orabpel schema using the mentioned script also. Any other things i need to do?
    Regards,
    Ashok.

    A few guesses what could be wrong.
    - Under which user are you installing, does this user have all the rights to create and start stuff.
    - Have you first installed a weblogic server (this should be installed) and did associate any components with the weblogic domain?
    I usually do not associate anything with my weblogic domain and configure the httpd.conf file for the Apache server by hand instead of using the enterprise manager.
    Once the WebLogic server is installed i follow the following steps
    Installation WebTier
    Run setup.exe
    Select Install Software - Do Not Configure.
    Click Next.
    Prerequisite Checks --> Next.
    Accept the default installation directory.
    Click Next.
    Uncheck i wish to... click Next (in the pop-up Yes)
    Click Install.
    Click when the installation it finished and click Finish
    Configuration WebTier
    Run the file <WebTier-Home>/bin/config.bat.
    Click Next
    Uncheck Associate Selected Components with WebLogic Domain and click Next
    Accept the defaults and click Next
    Enter the parameters for the WebCache
    Web Cache Administrator Password: password
    Confirm Password: password
    Click Next.
    Select Auto Port Configuration and click Next.
    Uncheck I wish to... and click Next. (pop-up Yes)
    Click Configure
    Click Next and Click Finish
    When i follow the above steps an instance of the webtier is running.

    I appreciate your help.
    I have been offline for a long time since I had a business trip two week ago.
    I can not start the apache http server, so it isn't on running status within NT services manager.
    In fact, there is someting wrong---fail to create FastCGI when startup. Oracle system message tells me that syntax error exists on line 92 of isqlplus.conf but I don't know how to correct it.

  • Failed to start HTTP server while installing companion CD

    Hi all,
    I am installing apex 3.1.2 (though it is old version, clients are still using it :) ), on the oracle 10.2.1 database. I am installing HTTP servers from the companion CD and getting error while starting HTTP server from the configuration assistant. I am getting following error.
    ==================================
    Configuration assistant "Starting HTTP Server" failed
    The "/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/OHS/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Can someone help me to resolve this issue please. Thanks.

  • Configuring Apache HTTP Server with Oracle Weblogic Server plugin

    Hello friends,
    I have a scenario of OIM 9.1.0.2 on Oracle Application Server 11g and Weblogic Server Apache HTTP Server.
    Oracle WebLogic Server is configured in cluster (node1 and node2), also use the Oracle Weblogic Server plugin for integration with Apache.
    One of the tests is to lose one of the nodes for the apache plugin redirects the node that has less overhead.
    When the mode is node1 and node2 stop start mode and try to access the management console of Oracle Identity Manager, the plugin sometimes redirects to the other active node, and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel.
    Deputy of the Apache HTTP Server log, do you expect your comments to solve this case?

    with server 3 going down it does 1-2-1-2-1...
    An example configuration (with SSL off) looks as follows:
    LoadModule weblogic_module   "/home/oracle/weblogic12.1.1/apache/modules/mod_wl.so"
    <IfModule weblogic_module>
         ConnectTimeoutSecs 10
         ConnectRetrySecs 2
         DebugConfigInfo ON
         WLSocketTimeoutSecs 2
         WLIOTimeoutSecs 300
         Idempotent ON
         FileCaching ON
         KeepAliveSecs 20
         KeepAliveEnabled ON
         DynamicServerList ON
         WLProxySSL OFF
    </IfModule>
    <Location /LoadTest6>
         SetHandler weblogic-handler
         WebLogicCluster 172.31.0.175:7002,172.31.0.113:7003
    </Location>Also see the complete example here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7795
    "the plugin sometimes redirects to the other active node"
    This is somewhat strange, do you have session binding turned off?
    "and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel."
    This could happen due to mime types (not really sure just a hunch). Here is a general story on this concept: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Properly_Configuring_Server_MIME_Types
    and the apache module: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_mime.html

  • Error starting HTTP-Server: Address in use: JVM_Bind

    I installed J2ee version of Oracle9iAS R2 for windows. When I start my application server, I always get the error "Error starting HTTP-Server: Address in use: JVM_Bind". In the previous version, if I met this message, I can change the port number in "http-web-site.xml", but now, no matter what port number I changed, I always get this error message.
    Could anybody please help me with this issue?
    Can Oracle provides a tool that can automatically free the port?
    Thanks, Jessie

    If you are getting this error while starting the Oracle9iAS by using the NT services or using command line (dcmctl) then there is a port conflict for the HTTP Server. You can go the EM Website and select HTTP Server ->Server properties and select the port# for the HTTP Server.
    OC4J is configured to listen for AJP requests only and the ports are dynamically assigned. The port ranges can be specified : OC4J Instance -> Server Properties

  • 10g Express Edition install doesn't start HTTP server on port 8080

    I've just done (several) installs of 10g XE on a Windows XP (SP2) box which appears to install correctly, but there's nothing listening on port 8080 (which is available)
    The services OracleServiceXE and OracleXETNSListener are both started (and can be stopped/restarted too).
    Looking in C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\config\log\postDBCreation.log (and other log files in that directory), I see some worrying lines like this:
    SQL> connect "SYS"/"&&sysPassword" as SYSDBA
    ERROR:
    ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed
    Also running SQLPLUS from a CMD window fails:
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN>sqlplus sys
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Thu Jun 19 15:31:59 2008

    I already have some Oracle client software installed, PL/SQL developer 7.0.1.1066.
    ORACLE_HOME is not set.
    Is there an installation log file I can examine that might indicate what's gone wrong?
    Tony.

    Interesting error. See http://oracle-unix.blogspot.com/2007/08/ora-12638-credential-retrieval-failed.html for a blog entry (and workaround).
    As for the 8080 web connection failing, I assume that this is related - the listener unable to hand off the web browser request to the Dispatcher.
    Also note that by default it only listens on localhost port 8080. So using the hostname or IP of your machine won't work until that default config is changed.
