Start of UME Service Failed". Technical details: 'password' missing

Hi, I am facing a problem with UME Configuration of a Double Stack ABAP+Java Netweaver 7.01 System.
The Java Engine won't come up.
Though I have unlocked J2EE_ADMIN, J2EE_GUEST and SAPJSF in the ABAP User Management, after Restart of J2EE-Cluster the J2EE Engine doesnt't come up with the following Error (in std_server0.out):
com.sap.engine.frame.ServiceException: Start of UME service failed. Check help topic "Start of UME Service Failed". Technical details: 'password' missing at com.sap.security.core.server.ume.service.UMEServiceFrame.start(UMEServiceFrame.java:398) at com.sap.engine.frame.ApplicationFrameAdaptor.start(ApplicationFrameAdaptor.java:31) at com.sap.engine.core.service630.container.ServiceRunner.startApplicationServiceFrame(ServiceRunner.java:214) at com.sap.engine.core.service630.container.ServiceRunner.run(ServiceRunner.java:144) at com.sap.engine.frame.core.thread.Task.run(Task.java:64) at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl5.SingleThread.execute(SingleThread.java:83) at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl5.SingleThread.run(SingleThread.java:156) Caused by: com.sap.security.core.persistence.datasource.PersistenceException: 'password' missing at com.sap.security.core.persistence.datasource.imp.R3PersistenceBase.newPersistenceException(R3PersistenceBase.java:236) at com.sap.security.core.persistence.datasource.imp.R3PersistenceBase.init(R3PersistenceBase.java:491) at com.sap.security.core.persistence.imp.PrincipalDatabagFactoryInstance.(PrincipalDatabagFactoryInstance.java:446) at com.sap.security.core.persistence.imp.PrincipalDatabagFactory.newInstance(PrincipalDatabagFactory.java:164) at com.sap.security.core.persistence.imp.PrincipalDatabagFactory.getInstance(PrincipalDatabagFactory.java:117) at com.sap.security.core.persistence.imp.PrincipalDatabagFactory.getInstance(PrincipalDatabagFactory.java:63) at com.sap.security.core.InternalUMFactory.initializeUME(InternalUMFactory.java:221) at com.sap.security.core.server.ume.service.UMEServiceFrame.start(UMEServiceFrame.java:287) ... 6 more [Framework -> criticalShutdown] Core service com.sap.security.core.ume.service failed. Reason is: Core service com.sap.security.core.ume.service failed. J2EE Engine cannot be started.
When I try to reset the password of J2EE_ADMIN in the configtool the following message appears: "The value is different from previous!" Maybe this is 'cause I chose a password that I've used sometimes before, but when i enter something like '123456' or 'geheim' or something else the same message appears.
Please tell me how i can resolve the "The value is different from previous!"-Problem, because it's really critical by now. Thanks for your help.
regards,
Carsten

Hi  Blanca,
First I have to thank you for your answer.
I followed the steps you provided:
the master client in the system is 100.
In client 100 the users SAPJSF, J2EE_ADMIN and J2EE_GUEST exist and are active.
I reset the password of SAPJSF on the ABAP side and after that in configtool i adjusted the values for
ume.r3.connection.master.client (100) and ume.r3.connection.master.user (SAPJSF).
But when it comes to save a new value for the *.master.passwd the same error appears.
"The value is different from previous!".
Any ideas?
thanks beforehand and regards
Carsten

  • Java Server stopped -11113 - Start of UME service failed

    Hi experts,
I've recently been deploying via JSPM the latest component versions for my recently upgraded netweaver system (7.0 EHP1 on Windows with MaxDB).  Part way through I received errors and now the Java server is unable to start.
Below is some of the trace from "std_server0.out".  I double checked the settings in the config tool and double checked the users in the ABAP system (SAPJSF and J2EE_GUEST), and everything seems to be fine, but I'm not an SAP J2EE expert so its very possible that I've overlooked something.
I've looked through the forums and for the most part people with this problem fixed it by unlocking SAPJSF, but I don't have that problem.
Any assistance is much appreciated.  If more of this trace or data from another log file would help please let me know.
    Cheers,
    JB

So for anyone with similar data in the trace updating kernel might be an option.

  • UME Service suddenly stopped and now does not start

Hello experts, a weird problem has come up to my attention. A few days ago our Enterprise Portal suddenly went down and when we restarted all services, the UME Service did not start. We tried restarting the whole server, to no avail. This service just won't start. We are using EP 7 and our UME is configured to take ABAP as data source.
Looking at one of the logs (security.log) I found the following interesting errors:

what I did wrong? how to start WLS server?

    Hi,
First of all with EM 12.1.0.x any version you are not required to install wls separately, we have single installer for em and wls. Is there any specific reason you installer wls separately?
Coming back to your issue: can you check
    %OMS_HOME%\BIN>emctl istart oms completes successfully.
    %OMS_HOME%\BIN>emctl istop oms completes successfully.
Also open an SR with Oracle support and share the number. We should debug such issue through SR so that we can share logs and come find a root cause.

  • Analysis Services failing to Start . File system error: Error occurred during the creation of directory

    Hello All,
Posting this problem here and hoping for a solution from the experts in this forum.
When i have restarted the Analysis Services , i see that it has been stopped but never started back. It fails with an error
"The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
When Checked the Event Viewer i see the following error -
The service cannot be started: The following system error occurred:  The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.  File system error: Error occurred during the creation of directory: '\\?\E:\OLAP\MSSOLAPFactory\OlapData;M:\Test
    Backup'.
I remember changing the BackupDir value of Analysis Services few days back, and i think it could have impacted. Can you please help me how can i change back the BackupDir value and have the server back?
Let me know if you need any more details
    SG

Is this still an issue? If so, I would find msmdsrv.ini and make sure you don't have two folders listed in the BackupDir (or DataDir or TempDir). You'll have to runas Administrator to edit the msmdsrv.ini file and save changes. Once you fix that, it should
    succeed.

  • Arch32.service fails on start. bundled 32bit system

I am using the install bundled 32bit system in 64bit system wiki and I think I am having trouble in the systemd service  part.
I am getting an error starting the arch32 service with systemctl. I have looked at the error messages and I am just not sure what is wrong here. Can someone point out what the error message is telling me, so that I can, in the future, read error messages better? I have did searches and google came up short. I am an eager Linux student. I would more than appreaciate any "hints" so that I can become better and be more value as I help others. Thank you.

I removed the /scratch from two areas and made a copy of the wiki version just in case I was wrong. I still got these errors.

  • SRV2008R2 SP1: Software Protection Service failed to start. RDP not working

    Hi folks,
I'm currently working on an issue on a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Hyper-V Host where RDP from one moment tio the other does not work anymore.
After an investigation I found that the Software Protection Service can't be started. The following events are recorded every few minutes:
Event ID: 1001 - The Software Protection service failed to start. 0x80070002. 6.1.7601.17514
Event ID: 7023 - The Software Protection service terminated with the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
I searched and found a lot of possible solutions which are shortly listed below:
I have confirmed that the sppsvc.exe file exists and has the proper permissions. Also replaced the file with the same file from another 2008R2 server
Checked the spldr start value via HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\spldr. This is 0 which should be fine.
Checked the sppsvc paths and settings via HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sppsvc. All are correct.
    SFC /Scannow + CHKDSK /r
System restore is (off course) not available
Tried to reactivate the server by recording a different product key. Did not work.
Removed the last batch of Windows Updates that were pushed towards the host. We believed it was caused by this but since you don't always need a host but only the VM's hosted on it it was a while ago since we logged in.
Local firewall enabled and disabled. Also
Netstat does not show any listening ports for RDP (3389)
Changed the port to 3390 but this port is not visible as well
Also RDP from the affected machine to localhost does not work
Since I can't find any more options in fixing this issue I'm wondering if someone else has some ideas which I can try. Otherwise a reinstall needs to be done.
    Hope to hear from you

    Hi,
Based on your description, I noticed that you have tried lots of ways to solve this issue. On current situation,
would you please let me confirm more details?
Type services.msc in RUN to open Services. Then navigate to Software Protection service. If start it manually, what error message will get?
I’m not sure if RDP issue was caused by the Software Protection service. So, would you please let me know the complete error message when RDP didn’t work? Meanwhile, please
open Event Viewer and follow the path: Applications and Services Logs-> Microsoft-> Windows-> TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager and TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager. Please check if can find more clues. Those may help us to go further analyze
    RDP issue.
    Please
perform a clean boot and check if this issue still exists.
If any update, please feel free to let us know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • [SOLVED]sensord.service fails to start

    Hi there!
I made a clean Arch install a couple of days ago and I've had problems trying to get sensord to work apropriately. I've went through the troubleshooting of this particular service and googled a lot the last couple of days about this topic but I found nothing really useful (or nothing that I could really understand. Maybe my search terms are not so effective ).
    # systemctl status sensord -l
    [sudo] password for daniel:
    ● sensord.service - Log hardware monitoring data
    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/sensord.service; enabled)
Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since mié 2014-09-03 09:14:04 CLT; 7min ago
    Process: 4231 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/sensord -i $INTERVAL -l $LOG_INTERVAL -f daemon (code=exited, status=127)
sep 03 09:14:04 Ophiel sensord[4231]: /usr/sbin/sensord: error while loading shared libraries: librrd.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

sep 03 09:14:04 Ophiel systemd[1]: Unit sensord.service entered failed state.
This is just a minor annoyance. My system performs great and I have no issues with it. It just annoys the heck out of me to see a service failing in my start up screen.
I don't know if hardware specs or other logs are useful. But if you need more info, just let me know
    Thanks in advance.

    Hmmm ...

Really ? Maybe there are services working but unrequested, have a look here:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=186244
I thought, that you explicitly installed sensord. Do you need a round robin database to visualize graphically your measured values in Nagios e.g. ?

Remove line with "kdm" in file:  /etc/passwd and reboot and OK is now:
    [root@arch-linux ~]# systemctl --failed
0 loaded units listed. Pass --all to see loaded but inactive units, too.
To show all installed unit files use 'systemctl list-unit-files'.
    I make also backup:  cp  /etc/passwd /etc/passwd.backup

  • Microsoft Office can't find your license for this application - multiple copies of Office 2013 x32 failing to start, Software Protection Service timing out

We're experiencing a growing problem with our users in several different domains running in to Microsoft Office 2013 x32 'activation' issues.  We use KMS for licensing, which works properly, but some of the machines (~20-30 out of 1000+) sporadically
    throw the following error:
'Microsoft Office can't find your license for this application.  Microsoft Office will now exit.'
We know it's not an issue with the licenses per se, since they work on and off and we can force KMS activation correctly / talk to the KMS servers.
It appears to be an issue with the Software Protection service not starting properly.  In Event Viewer, we see the following:
'Software protection service failed to start due to the following error- the service did not respond in a timely fashion.
    Event 7000'
This is occurring on a variety of machines in a variety of environments, all fully patched with the latest Office updates.  It's inconsistent, and the 'manually restart the Software Protection Service' solution is not viable as it's occurring on many
different workstations.  Office repairs have also been unsuccessful.
Has anyone else come across this? Or have any idea why the Software Protection Service might be sporadically failing?  Maybe an Office update in the last 2-3 months?
    Thanks for any info.

  • Getting an error message when trying to reinstall iTunes - 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the system services.

After a recent iTunes update my iTunes failed to start. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it again, but during installation an error message pops up saying: 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the system services. The three option buttons which can be clicked are 'Abort', 'Retry' and 'Ignore'. I tried pressing ignore, which allowed iTunes to install. However, it seemed that not all parts off the programme installed, as it wouldn't allow me to open iTunes again. Whenever I press retry it just makes the same message pop up again. How can I show that I have 'sufficient privileges'?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
