Start page loads instead of homepage

I am using firefox ESR v17.0.8 on Windows 7 with the firefox.adm policy template to customize some of my browser settings. I have specified a homepage to load on startup but whenever I start firefox the default firefox start page loads instead.
If I click the home button the correct page loads and if I look under Tools/Options/General it is set to load my home page and the correct home page URL is specified.
I have tried starting without any addins loaded but it doesn't make a difference. Suggestions?

Try the following:
1) Go to '''about:config''' (type it in the adress bar).
2) Enter.
3) Search for '''browser.startup.homepage'''.
4) This variable controls what page is loaded when you start Firefox.
According to your post its value should be '''about:home'''. Change this value to the website you'd like to load on start.
To change what website it opens when you open a new tab, do the same but with '''browser.newtab.url'''.

  • Can you make a DIV appear/fade on page load instead of the listed events?

Does anyone know if there's a way to have a specific DIV fade
in when the page loads? I know how to do it with a click or mouse
over, but the behavior panel won't let me change the event to
onLoad. It says that's an invalid event for the DIV tag. I found a
javascript code that makes the DIV appear when the page loads and
it work...until I tried to add other Spry behaviors. Then it
refused to fade in. I can provide that code if it helps.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the speedy response. But your answer went right
over my head. I'm using Dreamweaver and a complete novice in
javascript or coding...for now. (But I'm taking classes, so there'
    hope for me yet.)
When you say "use SpryDOMUtils.js" is that a script I need to
    find, reference, load?
Maybe I should post this question on the Dreamweaver since
    I'm so ignorant about coding?

  • (php) Delete being performed on page load instead of on submit-button click

I'm building a Delete Record page in PHP using Dreamweaver's server behaviors, following the instructions in the DW Help.
It's working - except the delete seems to be happening upon delete-carpet.php being loading, without the Submit button on that page being clicked.
I have a page (choose.php) which allows the user to locate the record he wants to delete. Clicking on that link is supposed to take him to the Delete page (delete-carpet.php), which I built following the directions in the DW Help.
I can see that the URL parameter is being passed, and in fact, the delete is successful. BUT, the Delete page itself, with the hidden form field and server behavior, doesn't even appear - only the "success" page that it re-directs to.
In other words, when I click the "Delete" link, which looks like this:
    <a href="delete-carpet.php?carpet_id=<?php echo $row_GetCarpets['carpet_id']; ?>
I thought that I should be getting a URL like this:
    delete-carpet.php?carpet_id=9
    But instead, I get this:
    success.php?carpet_id=9
It seems to be just performing the delete without needing the user to click the Submit button.
I've read through the directions and re-created this so many times that either I'm still missing something, or else the instructions are missing something. Any help is much appreciated.

I think your delete link was okay, maybe there might be some mistakes on delete-carpet.php page. Okay, on that page, choose delete record (Insert > Data Objects > Delete record) and popup window will appear and choose data as below.
First check if variable is defined: Primary key value
    Connection: your database
    Table: the carpet table
    Primary key column: carpet_id
Primary key value: URL parameter > carpet_id
After deleting go to: this one u can choose same page(choose.php) or other page except the delete-carpet.php

  • Firefox opens a dialog box when I use the browser, "Checking add-ons for compatibility..." then open the Firefox start page along with my homepage. I do not want the Firefox page when I open the browser. how do I stop this?

Since Firefox updated it checks add-ons every time I open Firefox. The Firefox homepage then opens along with my home page, two tabs. I want the checking to stop. This has not happened before--only with this update.

  • I keep getting the Firefox start page with Google search. How do I get my homepage back?

When I click the Mozilla Firefox icon, instead of my homepage I get a starter page with Google search. How can I get rid of the starter page and get my homepage back?

    Hello Linda.
I fear your problem may be deeper than your homepage gone missing, but you can change your homepage easily by going into Tools > Options > General and entering the address you want in the "Home Page" field.
I should warn you, however, that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment is outdated and is no longer supported. Please install the latest version for maximum speed, security and functionality. It's completely free, as always. You can get it through Firefox update service (Help > Check for updates...) or at www.getfirefox.com

  • I installed 4Sync on my computer, and it resets my browser constantly. Even when I set my browser back to FireFox Start Page it just switches it back the next time I open a browser. How can I stop this please??

I installed 4Sync when I was trying to find a download for a song and it has hijacked my browser completely. It always tries to set my default home page back to the 4Sync Homepage, but I do not want this. I even change it back and save the settings, but it just comes back and does it again in a few clicks. I feel like it has completely taken over Firefox and that it will always be my start page now, instead of the Firefox Google search page I normally use. I need to stop this because it is frustrating me. There is no new plugins or extensions installed on my browser, I just don't get it. Any answers would be greatly appreciated!!

Same issue for me, no settings or options config changes this
I also tried a roll back to 3.16 and the problem is there too now, so its something in the general mozilla files
dont fancy a full uninstall and delete of anything mozilla, but i wont be using this if it continues

  • Firefox 27.01 freezes on page load after reset

I am using Arch Linux and Firefox 27.01. Firefox complained that it took too long to start and recommended a reset. After resetting, it has become unusable. The start page loads, but if I go to a website, within 10 seconds, it becomes unresponsive completely. I've tried letting it unfreeze, but it just stays hanging.
I rebooted, tried deleting Firefox and mozilla-common and then rebooting and then reinstalling, and I tried safe mode, but it STILL freezes. Also, I tried installing Firefox 26 instead, but it also freezes in this manner. I didn't get any of these problems before I reset Firefox. I'm at a complete loss. I don't know what could possibly cause this problem. Maybe something with the profile?
I would use the automatic troubleshooter, but I can reach this page in time, but I cannot login without it freezing. This makes Firefox completely unusable. (I don't want to switch to chrome) Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi jcbahr,
First of all, I am sorry that it became unusable. And second, are you talking about that turtle pop up on the bottom of the screen? That should point to the article on how to make it faster. When you reset Firefox, data is sent to an Old Profile folder and it automatically added back as well.
Since it still freezes in Safe Mode, it ideally is not an add on. However this doe not eliminate extensions or other preferences. It does restore preferences to the default one though. So we have another troubleshooting article that has worked for others [http://mzl.la/MP6ZBS]
I hope that is all new information, and let us know if it helps!

  • Variable Start Page for iViews

    Hello,
we are running a NW2004S (BW 7.0) portal.
We have created a lot of iViews. In most of the iViews we have maintained a fix URL for the start page:
    for example:
    https://pbi.xxx-xxxx.de:443/sap/bc/bsp/sap/zfcplbalance/guv_freigabe_1.htm
Now we have done a system copy to our development system. In the development system we have to use another URL:
    for example:
    https://ebi.xxxx-xxxxx.de:443/sap/bc/bsp/sap/zfcplbalance/guv_freigabe_1.htm
Now, our iViews do not work in the development system, because the iViews still have the URL pbi instead of ebi.
Is there a possiblity to maintain the start page flexible (instead of using the fix "pbi")?
As system we use already SAP_BW.
    Thanks for your answer!

  • Internet start page instantly crashes every time.

I cleaned all my stuff out of my old EMac with OS 10.3.3, ran the startup disc again and gave the EMac to my elderly mother. She has a new ATT/YAHOO Internet account. The start page loads slowly and then crashes, every time. There is always a message saying, "Safari quit unexpectedly." ATT has checked it out and says it's the Mac's problem, that the Mac is not communicating with the modem. Does anyone know what's going on here and how I can fix it? Thanks in advance. macquest.

The page may require a more up-to-date web browser than the version of Safari that was included with 10.3.3. In fact it may require a newer browser than the version of Safari that comes with 10.3.9. You could apply the combo update to 10.3.9 and find out.
Even if that does work, I suggest downloading Camino and trying it out on the website. If it works, put its icon on Mom's Dock, import any Safari bookmarks into it, drag the Safari icon off the Dock, and trash Safari. Camino is newer, more secure, and fully compatible with OS X 10.3.9. The current version (1.6) will NOT run in 10.3.3.

  • WCEM change start page

In WCEM forgotpassword, the start page is going to homePage.xhtml
How can I change this to myAccountHomePage.jsf

    Hello,
To define a start page you just have to add the attribute startpage = "true" dans le UI repository.
Then you should use the web channel builder to choose this page as the default start page for your application.
    Regards,

  • Why does FF always open to FF start page every time instead of my homepage/

Every time I open Firefox, the Firefox Start Page opens. I have to put yahoo.com in the address bar to go to yahoo, which is really my homepage. Then I go to Tools, Options and set my homepage as Yahoo. But the next time I open Firefox, it opens to the FF Start page again. Why doesn't it accept my setting?

For Yahoo, I suggest copying the following and pasting it into the Options dialog, General panel, for your home page:
    https://www.yahoo.com/
The reason is that Firefox will need to redirect to that secure page anyway, so it saves a few milliseconds.
After making that change and OKing out of the Options dialog, go back in and confirm that it was saved.
''If Firefox won't let you save a new home page, there may be a problem with one of your settings files, or you might have a malware program named SearchProtect on your system.''
If Firefox lets you save the change, then you should get Yahoo if you do any of these:
    * click the Home icon on the toolbar
    * press Alt+Home on the keyboard
    * launch a new window by pressing Ctrl+n
    Do those work?
If Firefox "forgets" your preferred home page the next time you exit out and start it up again, there are several possible causes. You saw the article cor-el mentioned. It's a bit technical, yes.
In addition to that, some utility programs like Advanced SystemCare and some security suites have a "home page" or "browser" or "surfing" protection feature that will protect you against unwanted browser settings changes. They do it by just rolling back the changes, since they don't have a way to determine what you wanted and what you didn't. You may need to turn off this feature until you have Firefox set up the way you want it and can shut down and start up again without losing your changes.
