Startup or Default Services
How do you get services to automatically startup when you restart the Server? The only services that start up automatically are those that I initially picked during the initial setup of a new Mac OSX Server installation. IE AFP and on Open Directory startup, but now I want Software Update to always startup, but instead I have to manually start it each time I restart the server. Can't find anywhere in the documentation that addresses this.
hostconfig is already showing that as shown below

but if I restart the server, softwareupdate is not running and I have to use server admin to manually start it.

Jabber 4 Everyone default service profile
Hello all,
A customer running UCM 9.1.2 with IM&P 9.1.2. They have rolled out Jabber Desktop as the default application for IM and Presence for the organization. We have setup several "SERVICE PROFILES" inside of UCM to differentiate between Ehanced Presence for employees that have both IP Phones and Jabber, and just Regular Presence for employees that do not have an IP Phone on the system. We made the Regular Presence the "DEFAULT SERVICE PROFILE" and then we ran a bulk update to update all users "currently" in the directory to have the option
HOME CLUSTER and ENABLE User for Unified CM IM and Presence.
CUCM is AD integrated so all the users come from AD
The issue we are experiencing is for any new hires, the account gets created in AD then eventually sync'ed into CUCM. We can't find a switch that allows us to make sure new users have certain "DEFAULT USER" settings namely "HOME CLUSTER" and "Enable User for Unified CM IM and Presence. So these new users are not getting this setting and can not login to Jabber until this occures

I have the same issue and at the moment no solution for that.
I have a bulk user template, so everytime new users come in, I bulk the setting over the new users.
Would be nice to see, if someone has another solution.

I cannot install Creative Suite 5.5 on my Windows 7 Professional. I keep getting error message: "Exit Code: 15 - Media DB sync failed". I have disabled UAC and Startup items and Services with no luck. Can you please help?

You are welcome to post any specific errors you are able to discover within your installation log to this discussion. Since you are using Windows then Exit Code 15 could mean one of the following:
Installer database is corrupted
Update pending to your operating system
Improper permissions set for the Media.db
The installation log file should provide additional insight into the exact error you are experiencing. Please make sure to use the find command to look for the words 'ERROR' and 'FATAL' to locate the relevant error messages. -
Can you specify the port for default services when installing OEG?

The default installation of OEG 11g uses 8090 port for management services, and 8080 for the virtualized services that you register in the gateway. After installation, you can change the ports by editing gateway's Profile Repository in Policy Studio. But is there a way to specify the port number before/during the installation?

here are the steps to change the listening port (in 11.1.1.6)
- Connect to OEG using Policy Studio
- Click on "Edit Active Configuration"
- Under "Services", find the default services, and you'll see a listener for port 8080 there. Right-click to edit this.
- Change the port from 8080 to your desired port. Note that if you've installed the software and running it as a non-root user on Linux, then it will not have permission to bind to a low-number port (like port 80 for instance)
- Now deploy your change (for 11.1.1.6 hit F6 or click on the "deploy" button which is towards the right of the toolbar in Policy Studio).
- You may also choose to version your configuration at this point (click on "version" which is beside the "deploy" button and enter a comment about your version).
Now verify that OEG is listening on your new port. You can see it bind to the new port by looking at the trace [Connect a browser to port 8090 on OEG, login as admin or another user who has rights to view the trace, then click on "Trace"].
It's a usual practice to configure a new listener on SSL (e.g. on port 443) then to delete that pre-configured port 8080 listener, if you want to only receive traffic over SSL. -

When deploying a repository manager, I can set the default services in a co.xml by setting
<property name="services" value="properties,feedback,layout"/>.
But how can I set the default values for services in cc.xml? I tried
<attribute name="services" type="List" default="properties"/>
but that doesn't take effect.

Sqlplus: Can I define a default service?
This is applicable to those of us which most of
the time log into the same service with SQL*Plus.
I found out that from the Windows environment, I can
always insert the name of my prefered service into the
registry, and every time I run SQL*Plus, I can leave
the 3rd. field ("Host String") empty.
If Oracle Corp. is consistent, there should be some
Unix environment valiable like:
setenv PREF_ORA_SERVICE database@payroll
or something like that, which will allow me to
have an implicit default service (a.k.a. SID)
Is there such a thing?

Transferring from Yahoo mail to Gmail default service for calendar
Good day,
I am given up on using Yahoo Mail after 13 years. I get timed out and have problems login in and some of my messages don't get forwarded to my BlackBerry. So I switched over to using Gmail as my main e-mail provider and it's been working well so far.
I use Outlook calendar on my laptop and sync it with my Torch 9800 using USB connection. If I remove my Yahoo Mail as a default sevice for Calendar, Contact List and Messaing, and select Gmail as my default service how do I convert all my calendar and contact list to the Gmail profile. Actually, not sure if my contact list would be affected since I don't see the association of the contact list to my Yahoo Mail currently. If I delete my Yahoo profile would my events get deleted or would they get transferred to the default calendar profile? Or do I just sync it again with my Outlook and my events will be transferred to the Gmail profile after selecting Gmail as my default service for Calendar and Contact List. I hope I am explaining this correctly. I also have a Facebook calendar profile showing birthday reminders, which I'm trying to remove but that's another problem.
I want to do it right the first time and don't want to accidentally delete my events and contact list.

Go to Solution.Before doing anything make a full backup of the device.
I think you can solve this by making the Gmail the default service. Then in the calendar app go to Options. On the screen type the letters M O V E. That should move all events to the default calendar. It's been a while since I've done this, though.

Help - "Default Services" in "Advanced Options" Menu has White Screen
I just purchased my BlackBerry Curve 9330 yesterday. I went in to change a feature (I followed the BlackBerry Help Guide) however, when I got to the "Default Services" area it shows only a white screen. What can I do to fix it?
I tried to take it back to the Alltel Store I bought it from, but they were of little to no help (just genuinely annoyed that I interrupted her solitaire game)
Do I need to have them replace the phone or is there something I can do to make it work properly?

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If that does not clear it, then an OS reload would be your next step...here is a process:

Given how new it is, you must weigh the efforts against the potential for a non-satisfactory outcome...there is no way to say 100% that any advice given here will result in anything positive whatsoever. If you are not comfortable with that possible outcome, then you should just take it in for warranty evaluation (though the person playing solitaire will likely be even more annoyed!!).

Set it up 10 days ago, works OK, but an app does not work
Got me looking at settings etc
In the DEFAULT SERVICES section of ADVANCED OPTIONS
the calendar (CICAL) and messaging (CMIME) are set to the correct e-mail address
but the contact list (SYNC) is set to an incoreect e-mail address
This does not have a drop down box (like the other two)...so apparantly I can t change it
buit I need it to be the same as the Calendar & messaging setting
Can anyone help me please ?

If this is a manual step (which I believe it is), this is not something I did when I originally provisioned the MMS.
But I have tried it, and still, the Terms Sets are not available when I go to Site Settings > Term Store Management
Just to confirm what I just attempted:
Central Admin > Application Management > Manage Service Applications > %ManagedMetaDataService% > Permissions
Under Connection Permissions, I added the service account which is the identity for the Web Application and gave it
'Full Access to Term Store'
Is there an additional step I missed? I have looked at the SQL permisisons as they all seem fine. -
