Statistics on cube

Hi sdn,
what is the statistics on the cube ,how it helps to increase the space on the cube ,how we run it and how we confirm that space is increased.

rubane

Hi
Are you looking for BW statistics then the tables are:
OLAP:
RSDDSTAT
RSDDSTATAGGR
RSDDSTATAGGRDEF
Data load processes & WHM:
RSDDSTATWHM
RSDDSTATCOND
RSDDSTATDELE
there are six statistics cubes for these and a MP on top of it:

  • Bw statistics- technical cubes

    Hi
I hav a question on BW Statistics. I wud like to know as we hav 6 basic cubes , is it necessary to install all of the basic cubes or we can install only few among them. if so plz let me know as which cubes r most important.
    2) i wud like to know if  we install all of the cubes, wether it needs lot of resources to maintain them.
    3) my client has asked me to design technical specs as which cubes might be useful, and which reports r necessary.
so , can anyone help me on dis....
    Thanks in advance..
    kumar

    Hi
The most important cubes are: 0BWTC_C02 and 0BWTC_C03 and the multi provider 0BWTC_C10, as they provide basic user statistics.
But my suggestion would be to activate all the statistics content at once, as the installation of objects itself doesn't take much resources. After installation, you can choose not to load data to certain cubes, if you find it not relevant.
    hope this helps.

  • Issue with BW Statistics - WHM  cube

    Hi
I am using BW Statistics - WHM ( 0BWTC_C05) Cube for a report and not able to find details for few cubes/ODS , it seems these cubes/ODS have not been activated for Statistics. Can anyone me with this?
    Thanks ,

    Hi,
    what do you mean by
<i>"i am loding STATISTIC cube everyhour"</i>
the data for statistics infocubes arises out of the execution of the processes in WHM.
How are you loading data to the same ?

  • BW Statistics - loopback cube transport

BW expert I need some help on the transport of the BW statistic cube. We have this cube in production and now we need to add some time dimension.Following are the steps performed.
    1) Modified time Dimension of cube 0BWTC_C02 to include 0calmonth, 0calquart1, etc
    2) Added to original UR 0BWTC_C02
    3) Created New InfoArea to segregate loop back cube
    4) Created loop back cube ZBWTC_C02 as a copy of 0BWTC_C02
    5) Generated export datasource on both ZBWTC_C02
    6) Created Update rules for 0BWTC_C02 to ZBWTC_C02 on ZBWTC_C02.
    7) Created Update rules for ZBWTC_C02 to 0BWTC_C02 on 0BWTC_C02
    8) Created Infopackages on Infosource 80BWTC_C02
        Load loopback ZBWTC_C02 from 0BWTC_C02
    9) created Infopackages on Infosource 8ZBWTC_C02
Now this is sitting in the development I want to transport to QA . what are the necessary steps I need to do this transport.

    Hi Ashok,
I assume you have assigned transport request to all your objects. If you have not done that then the first step is to assign a transport request to all your object by assigning a transportable package to it. If required you can create a new package  for the new 'Z' objects using SE80 or you can also re-use the old ones.
Please capture request as mentioned below:
    Step 1: -
    1st request -> cube 0BWTC_C02, ZBWTC_C02 & info-area
once the cubes are transported you need to replicate the datamart data sources in the target system. select source systems in target system -> go to data-mart application component -> right click -> replicate data sources
I couldn't re-call exactly whether the data mart is generated as soon as you activate the cube or not. I am quite sure it gets generated for the ODS object as soon as you activate the ODS object hence you need not transport the data mart info-sources for the ODS object. Check whether you get a data-mart symbol as soon as the cube is transported and check whether the data source exist as well. If not then you need to replicate the data source first prior to your data-mart info-source.
    Step 2
    2nd request -> data mart info-source (8ZBWTC_C02, 80BWTC_C02)
    Step 3
3rd request -> all update rules (dependant on request 2)
    Step 4
    4th request -> all info-packages (dependant on request 2)
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,
    Soumya

I need the data about, how much time it takes for aggregate fill and rollup of an infocube.  I tried to get the same from RSDDSTATAGGR table.  I could get the data from this, but this table does not store the data for all the aggregates.  I guess after BI 7 this table is replaced by some other table.
Could you please let me know the new table which stores the latest aggregate data of an infocube.

  • Performance Problems - Index and Statistics

    Dear Gurus,
I am having problems lossing indexes and statistics on cubes ,it seems my indexes are too old which in fact are not too old just created a month back and we check indexes daily and it returns us RED on the manage TAB.
    please help

    Dear Mr Syed ,
Solution steps I mentioned in my previous reply itself explains so called RE-ORG of tables;however to clarify more on that issue.
Occasionally,ORACLE <b>Cost-Based Optimizer</b> may calculate the estimated costs for a Full Table Scan lower than those for an Index Scan, although the actual runtime of an access via an index would be considerably lower than the runtime of the Full Table Scan,Some Imperative points to be considered in order to perk up the performance and improve on quandary areas such as extensive running times for Change runs & Aggregate activate & fill ups.
Performance problems based on a wrong optimizer decision would show that there is something serious missing at Database level and we need to RE_ORG  the degenerated indexes in order to perk up the overall performance and avoid daily manual (RSRV+RSNAORA)activities on almost similar indexes.
For <b>Re-organizing</b> degenerated indexes 3 options are available-
<b>1) DROP INDEX ..., and CREATE INDEX …</b>
    <b>2)ALTER INDEX <index name> REBUILD (ONLINE PARALLEL x NOLOGGING)</b>
    <b>3) ALTER INDEX <index name> COALESCE [as of Oracle 8i (8.1) only]</b>
Each option has its Pros & Cons ,option <b>2</b> seems to be having lot of advantages to
    <b>Advantages- option 2</b>
1)Fast storage in a different table space possible
    2)Creates a new index tree
3)Gives the option to change storage parameters without deleting the index
4)As of Oracle 8i (8.1), you can avoid a lock on the table by specifying the ONLINE option. In this case, Oracle waits until the resource has been released, and then starts the rebuild. The "resource busy" error no longer occurs.
I would still leave the Database tech team be the best to judge and take a call on these.
These modus operandi could be institutionalized  for all fretful cubes & its indexes as well.
However,I leave the thoughts with you.
    Hope it Helps

  • When to use the "construct database statistics" process chain' item

    Hello, everybody.
    Information 1:
In our BW system we have a job from DBA guys that build statistcs for the entire database. This job runs every day in the dawn.
    Information 2:
In several process chain flows, we use the item "Construct Database Statistics" to update the statistics after cube upload.
    Information 3:
I checked the log from both jobs and found several tables analyzed in first and second cases.
    The question:
Is this step inside the process chain unnecessary? Exist any situation when this step is useful?
    Thanks in advance,

  • BW Statistics query with process chain run times.

    Hello Guru's,
We are using BW 3.5 system and the client have asked if it is possible to create a report in BW based out of the Statistics Cube that shows the current status of the Process Chains .i.e. the start/end time of specific process chains along with some sort of Exceptions to show successfully completed chains as 'Green', chains finishing with errors as 'red' and chains presently running as 'Yellow'.
I have seen such a report in my previous project, but that was using BI 7.0, I am not able to find such Statistics Info Cube in BW 3.5 which meets my requirements.
Has anybody created such a report in BW 3.5? If yes, would very much appreciate if you can share your way of approach with me.
    Thanks
    Arvind

    Hi Arvind,
Yes you can achieve this functionality using BW Technical Content. I already implemented this for one of our client. We have some Standard InfoProviders where in wee can get the Start and End time of chains. You can build a query on these Cubes & Multiprovider and there in create exceptions to reflect which step got completed with in stipulated time limit and which took longer than usual......u can display those time statistics in different colour.
Here are soem cubes names from BW Technical content which may meet your requirement specification:
    1. 0TCT_C01
    2. 0TCT_C02
    3. 0TCT_CA1
    4. 0TCT_C23
    5. 0TCT_C21
    Hope it helps

  • BW Statistics for aggregate usage

    Hello experts,
can some one guide me on how the BW Statistics cube can be used to count
1> the "No. of times an aggregate was used by the
    queries" .
2> The % of the query users who hit a particular
    aggregate in a month
A query on the cube '0BWTC_C02' with
    0TCTIFCUBE(InfoCube) in rows and
0TCTSTAUIK(Frequency ) in coulumns doesn't yield the correct result for my aggregate.
Is this the right way of getting the "No. of times an aggregate was used by the queries" or is there any other option.
I'm aware that i can indirectly get these details from RSDDSTAT, but not sure how to use BW Statistics cube for getting this information.
    Please help
    Best Regards,
    Sanjay

I don't see where the aggregate cube name is even captured in this cube. Personally, I think the whole BW Statistics thing comes up a little short of what it needs to be.
RSDDSTAT is the only place I am aware of being able to get what you are looking for.  Haven't tried it, but you should be able to setup an Infoset on it for Bex reporting, or just download the data to Excel or Access as you probably have been doing. Or create your own statistics ODS/Cube that does capture what you need.
Keep in mind, an InfoCube with multiple aggregates could have more than one aggregate used by a user query but only one aggregate will be captured in RSDDSTAT.

  • How to Check BW DB Statistics

How to check BW DB Statistics, where can we check weather DB Stats has build or not? suggest me.

    HI Prasad,
If you are looking for CUBE database statistics then use T.Code DB02.
And looking for other statistics of Cube then go to RSRV. Please use relavant cube options and drag to next portion of window and open the tree and give particular cube name and check statistics.
If this helps please alot appropriate points.

  • InfoCube - red light for db statistics

hi all... maybe someone can help me. in Cube administration at performance i get a red light when checking statistics. i try to calculate them, job finishes without problems, but light is still red.
when i check via rsrv db statistics for cube i get a red light and message "ORACLE: table ...not analyzed yet." we started br connect, but it didn't help.
    SAP BASIS 700 0015
    SAP_BW     700 0017
cube has 8 dimensions and 4 of them are line items.
    thanx
    gunter

    Gunter,
Usually for Statistics there is an additional paremeter that has to be given on the Oracle side of things. This is with regard to permissions for the backend User / Oracle Admin User. Not sure which ID needs to have this - basically what happens is that :
    1. Either the stats are being calculated but not getting updated because of some restrictions or
    2. The stats job is fired against the Oracle system and because of Insufficient priviledges the Job Finishes but trigerring the necessary commands but then the command in actual does not get executed.
Run BRSTATS and see if the statistics light gets updated else use DB02 and analyze the table manually and see if the same gets refreshed.
    Hope it helps...

  • DB Statistics & BI Indexes

    Hi All,
I have been going through a lot of threads related to DB Statistics & BI Indexes and I am confused.
    1) How do I come to know that the DB Statistics and BI Indexes for a cube are active or created?
Is it through RSDDSTAT where the status is X means stats are active? Is there another way to find out?
        What about BI Indexes?
    2) How do I create DB Statistics?
    3) Does creatting DB statistics for query help the query performance or creating DB statistics on cube helps the Query performance or is it both?
    4) I understand primary indexes are created while creating the cube. However, when we try to create secondary indexes through performance tab in which table the details are stored? Can it be deleted later?
    5) Is there another way to create BI Indexes other than performance tab?

P.S: the formatting went nuts... I added *** before each of my replies... COME ON SAP!! Cant you fix this???
    Hi.
    1) How do I come to know that the DB Statistics and BI Indexes for a cube are active or created?
Is it through RSDDSTAT where the status is X means stats are active? Is there another way to find out?
    What about BI Indexes?
In addition to the performance tab where you got the traffic lights, you can check the indexes through tcode SE11. Just input the table name and on the next sceen click the button reading "Indexes...". A popup will show you the indexes that exist for the table you are looking at. Doubleclicking any of the indexes will take you to the details.
You can also define a new, secondary index here. You might have to go to DB02->missing indexes to have it created on the database, even though it says it exists and is active in se11... get your basis guy in on all of this.
    2) How do I create DB Statistics?
Through Performance tab or step in process chain, but you should schedule db stats at least once a week in that DB-maintenance-calendar-thingy you can get to with a tcode I cannot remember... DBxx where xx is two numbers...ask your basis guy.
    3) Does creatting DB statistics for query help the query performance or creating DB statistics on cube helps the Query performance or is it both?
You cannot create statistics for a query. You can collect statistics about the query use. This is the statistics stuff you can activate from bct; the "statistics-cubes" and all that. They store the info you collect and this is then called BI Statistics. It is of absolutely no use whatsoever with regards to performance. You can learn a lot about your system by analysing this, but starting to collect the BI Statistics wont help your slow running queries.
You can create statistics for cubes. This is the DB Stats and the effect of creating it is that the system will know how the data is distributed in the cube and because of that, it will have a better chance of reading data according to your selections faster. Much faster in some cases! This goes for both queries and loads (a load is just a special kind of query, where results are not put on the screen but in another table). Try to keep your DB Stats as up to date as you can - I always update the stats after each load and compression... It is especially important on transactional cubes, because data is more volatile here than when you only load every second day or so.
    4) I understand primary indexes are created while creating the cube. However, when we try to create secondary indexes through performance tab in which table the details are stored? Can it be deleted later?
I dont know the tables this is stored in, but you can delete any index using SE11as mentioned above. Secondary indexes will need to be re-defined in SE11 when your system has been taken down... or if you activate the cube. In that case, only the hardwired primary indexes are created.
    5) Is there another way to create BI Indexes other than performance tab?
I think you can only create/define an index in SE11, but you can refresh it from the Performance tab or in a process chain.

    Jacob

Also in 3.5 version we have created Z* reports based on the multiprovider.
After upgrade it is not possible to get data from RSDDSTAT because it is obsolete and we can get data from new tables.
Now i want report based on the old statistics content as well as with new content.
How can i report based on old data and new data?
Please help me with valuable inputs.

  • Deleting infopackages in a Cube

    Hello,
I wasn't able to find answer to this specific question, so here we go:
I have an infopackage which feeds a cube. Unfortunately it does not support delta extraction. Therefore, every day when I load this infopackage, I would like to delete from the Cube the last day's feed (When I load the infopackage today, I'd like to automatically delete data from the infopackage from yesterday - the dataload is on a daily basis).
To do this, in RSPC I have made a "Delete Overlapping Requests in Infocube" in a process chain (generally it goes: Start > Drop Indexes > Load Data (infopackage 1) > Load Data (infopackage 2) > Delete Overlapping requests (infopackage 1 & 2) > Create index > DB Statistics)
the cube is fed from 2 data sources, thus 2 infopackages are used.
In delete selections of "delete overlapping requests" i've made the following entries:
    (X) Delete Existing Requests...
......... (X) Data Sources are the same
    ......... Selections are
.............. (X) Same or more comprehensive
    (rest not marked)
Both infopackages are restricted by time - they extract only data for several fiscal periods (0FISCPER)
Yet the "old" requests are not being deleted.
Where have I done a mistake?

    Hi Dyl,
As ur InfoCube is not Delta Enabled.  u should delete the previous data.
So Model the process chain in this manner...
    1. Delete the Existing data target Contents first..
    2.Drop the index.
    3. Load the Info pack 1
    4. Load Info pack 2.
    5. Create index.
This would be a easy option..
Delete the Data Target Contents first...
    Hope this helps u..
