Steps to create BAPI ALE-IDoc
Hi All,
I have a scenario where i have to replicate user master record from one server to another through BAPI ALE IDoc.i have some standard info available
message type:- USERCLONE
Object type:- USER
Method:- CLONE
IDoc Type:- USERCLONE05
FM for outbound:- ALE_USER_CLONE
FM for Inbound:- IDOC_INPUT_USERCLONE
With this much of information i dn't knw how to proceed further.
i have created Distribution Model, added BAPI, created partner profile.
Now i don't understand how the data will be uploaded into IDOC, how BAPI will read the data.. If some sample Program is available which will help in firing the BAPI, then provide me the link..
It's urgent.. Useful results will be rewarded.
Thanks.
Please help me with the required steps..

Steps to create outbound CREMAS IDOC from ERP
Hi,
Can you please share the steps to create outbound IDOC from ERP system?
Business requirement is that whenever a new vendor is created in the ECC system, SAP should trigger an outbound vendor IDOC CREMAS from ERP system. Also whenever the vendor data is changed then the entire vendor details should be passed to outbound IDOC and not just the delta changes. Change pointer can be configured but to create idoc for full vendor records.
I guess we can use CREMAS.
Can anyone please share the steps to configure it in ERP?
Regards,
Sandeep1. Read the file using OPEN DATASET and read and fill up the segment info and fill the EDIDC header data
and then call function
CALL FUNCTION 'INBOUND_IDOC_PROCESS'
TABLES
IDOC_CONTROL = i_edidc
IDOC_DATA = i_edid4.

could anyone tell me the exact steps to create a custom BAPI?
(any example will be appreciated).
thanks in advance
nikhilHi,
BAPI stands for Business Application Programming Interface.
There are 5 different steps in BAPI.
Create BAPI Structure
Create BAPI Function Module or API Method.
Create BAPI object
Release BAPI Function Module.
Release BAPI object.
Step1. Creating BAPI Structure:
Go to <SE11>.
Select Data Type & Enter a name.
Click on Create.
Note: Always BAPI should be in a development class with request number (Not Local Object).
Select Structure & hit ENTER.
Enter the fields from your database. Make sure that the first field is the Primary Key Field.
Then SAVE & ACTIVATE.
Step 2. Creating BAPI module:
Enter TR.CODE <SE37>.
Before entering any thing, from the present screen that you are in, select the menu
Goto -> Function Groups -> Create Group.
Enter a name (Note: This name Must start with ZBAPI)
Let this screen be as it is and open another window and there, enter TR.CODE <SE80).
Click on the Third ICON that says Inactive Objects.
Select the group that you just created and click on Activate.
Notice that the group you created will disappear from the list of inactive objects.
Go back to ><SE37> screen and enter a name and hit <ENTER>. Then enter the group name that you just created and activated.
NOTE: When you release a function module the respective group will be attached to that particular application. It cannot be used for any other application. NEVER include an already existing group that is attached to another module.
Now click on the first Tab that says ATTRIBUTES and select the radio button that says remote-enabled module since we will be accessing this from any external system.
Then click on the second tab that says IMPORT.
Enter a PARAMETER NAME, TYPE and the structure you created in the first step. Also select the check box Pa. All remotely enabled functional modules MUST be Pa enabled, where Pa means Passed by Value and if you dont select Pa, then that means it will be passed by reference..
Then click on tab that says EXPORT.
Enter the following as is in the first three fields
RETURN TYPE BAPIRETURN (These 3 field values are always same)
Here also select Pa meaning Pass by value.
Note: BAPIRETURN contains structure with message fields.
Then SAVE and ACTIVATE.
Step 3. Creating BAPI object:
Enter Tr.Code <SWO1> (Note. It is letter O and not Zero).
Enter a name and then click on create. Enter details.
NOTE: Make sure that that Object Type and Program name are SAME.
Enter Application M, if you are using standard table Mara. If you are using your own database then select Z at the bottom.
Then hit <ENTER>.
Now we have to add Methods. High light METHODS and then select the following from the menu:
Goto Utilities -> API Methods -> Add Methods.
Enter function Module name and hit <ENTER>.
Select the second FORWARD ARROW button (>)to go to next step.
Check if every thing looks ok and again click on FORWARD ARROW button (>).
Then select YES and click on <SAVE>.
Now on a different screen goto TR.CODE <SE37>. Enter Function Module name and select from the top menu Function Module -> Release -> Release.
Goback to TR.CODE <SWO1>.
Here select the menu combination shown below in the same order.
Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type Component -> To Implemented.
Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type Component -> To Released.
Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To Implemented.
Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To Released.
Then click on <SAVE>.
Then click on Generate Button (4th button from left hand side looks like spinning wheel).
Then Click on the button that says PROGRAM to see the source code.
To check if this is present in work flow goto TR.CODE <BAPI>.
Here it shows business object repository.
First click on the middle button and then select ALL and hit ENTER.
Goto tab ALPHABETICAL and look for the object that you created. This shows that the BAPI object has been created successfully.
or
1. Go to transaction SWO1. Enter object interface type. Eg.(ZOBJ)
2.Change the object type release status to implemented and save the object type.
3. Using Z_BAPI (created from SE37) create an API method in the new object type.
4. In the created BOR object ZOBJ, create a new method using the function module template.
5. Input as function module name Z_BAPI.
6.Check the Instance Independent checkbox and click on the next button to continue.
7. On the parameters screen validate whether all the needed parameters are present and click on next.
8. Click Yes on the Extend program dialog to generate the call in the new method.
9. Change the release status of the object type to To released
10. Change also the release status of the method type to To released
11. Double-click on the new method ZBAPI and go to the tab ABAP and change the ABAP type from Function Module to API method.
12. Finally click on Generate button to generate the object interface and save the object type.
Hope it somehow gets you an idea how to implement a BAPI based on a FM created in SE37.

Production version is not getting created using ALE-IDOC
Hi all,
Am using BD10 to transfer the material from sending to receving system. All the views are geting sent successfuly accept the production version tab data of MRP4 view. The segment is available in the standard IDOC.But prodction TAB is not getting created at receving system .Please help to resolve this issue.
Thank you.Hi Sanu,
BD10 Send Material..
the reason might be Production tab is not created is the segment is not a mandatory..
and the data is not populating for that fields.
if the segment is not madatorty and data is not available for the fields in the segment ..the prodction TAB will not be created ..

Step by step procedure to create an Outbound IDOC's
Hi,
Can anyone let me know the steps to create an outbound idoc.
Regards
ShivaHi!
IDOCs:
- IDOC is an Intermediate Document'. It is simply a data container used to exchange information
between any two processes that can understand the syntax and semantics of the data.
An IDOC is created as a result of executing an Outbound ALE or EDI process.
In an inbound ALE or EDI process, an IDOC serves as input to create an application document.
-When an IDOC is created in the system , an unique number(16 Digits) is assigned to it.
This number is unique with in the client.
- IDOCs are independent of the sending and receiving systems.
- IDOCs are independent of the direction of data exchange.
- In the IDOCs, data is stored in text format.
- IDOC will wait until the Remote System is Active.
*IDOC Definition Components
- Basic Idoc Type: Basic Idoc type defines the structure and format of the business document
that is to be exchanged between two systems. Basic Idoc type can refer to an SAP provided
basic IDOC type or a customer developed basic IDOC type.
- A basic IDOC type has the following characteristics:
Name : A basic Idoc type can be assigned upto a thirty character name.
List of permitted segments: The segments make up the IDOC structure.
Hierarchy of segments : The hierarchy of segments specifies the physical sequence and
any parent - child relationship in the segments.
Mandatory Vs Optional Segments : When used in the IDOC type, each segment has
an attribute that defines whether the segment is option or mandatory.
Minimum/Maximum range for each segment: It defines the maximum and minimum
number of timesa data record corresponding to a segment cn exist in an IDOC.
- Segments : A segment defines the format and structure of a data record.
Segments are reusable componets. A segment consists of various fields that represent data
in data record.
IDOC Run time components:
- A unique IDOC number 16 digits is allocated.
- One control record is attached to the IDOC.
- Segments translate into data records.
- Status records are attached.
- Sytax rules are checked.
IDOC Record Types:
1. Control Record : The control record contains all of the control information about an IDOC,
this information basically includes the IDOC number, sender and receiver information,
and information such as the message type it represents and the IDOC type.
- there is only one control record per IDOC.
- The stucture of the control record is the same for all the IDOCs and is defined by SAP.
- The structure of the control record is defined by the data dictionary structure EDI_DC40.
- The control record is stored in the EDIDC table.
2. Data Record : Data records contain the application data. A data record has two sections
Administrative Section and a Data section.
- The Administrative section cotain the segment name, client, IDOC number, segment number,
hierarchy level information.
- The Data section of a data record is a stram of 1000 bytes where the actual data resides.
- The data record is defined by the data dictionary structure EDI_DD40.
- Data records for IDOCs stored in the EDID4 table.
3. Status Record : Status records are attaced to an IDOC throughout the process as
the IDOC achieves different milestones or encounters an error. At every milestone a statu code,
date and time are assigned.
- Status codes 01 to 49 are reserved for OUtbound process, 50 and above are reserved for
inbound processes.
Message Type: Identifies what type of information transformed between logical systems or partners.
Message type is not a local object type , it is transportable.
Port : A Port defines the medium in which data is exchanged between the two systems in
the ALE process, IDocs are transferred via memory.
1. TRFC ports are used for ALE communicaion.
2. File Ports used by EDI
3. CPI-C ports used to communicate with R/2 systems.
4. Internet ports used to connect with Internet Applications.
5. ABAP-PI ports used to process data via the ABAP programming interface.
6. XML ports used to process files in XML format.
Partner Profiles:
A partner profile has three views, which maintain different parameters for the partner.
1. The General Parameters View : Values are stored in table EDPP1.
2. The Outbound Parameters view : Values are stored in table EDP13, except for the
Message control parameter , which are stored in table EDP12.
3. The Inbound Parameters View: Values are stored in table EDP21.
Transaction Codes :
WE31- Segment Creation
WE30 - IDOC structure
WE81 - Message type creation
WE82 - Link between Message type and IDOC type.
WE21 - Creation of POrt
WE20 - Partner Profile creation
WE19 - Test tool for IDOC Processing.

Problem in creating Invoice receipt using ALE-IDoc?
Hi all,
I implemented the auto creation of invoice receipt when billing document created using ALE-Idoc. It is working fine in PRD also.
But today , there occurred a problem in this . The problem is when the billing document is created the Invoice receipt is not creating directly , but a job is creating. But till yesterday it created the invoice receipt immediately as we required.
So please help me on changing the creation of invoice receipt directly from current job creation?
No configuration has been changed , but my user tried to create the more than one billing document at a time.so i think this is the reason for it. But now though he is creating only one billing document , it is creating a job.
Please reply ASAP.
Thanks,
Vamshi.Solved .

Hi,
ALE and IDOC configuration,creation/maintain at R/3 application side, who is gonna responsibliity of?
XI consultant? or ABAPer? ALE Consultant?
is there a ALE consultant in real life?
any comment will be appreciated for me.
thanks
venjaminHi Venjamin,
XI consultant?
XI consultant is not responsible for ALE/IDOC configuration ...
But as a ABAP consultant, he can create/maintain ALE/Idoc configuration... and in ALE configuration creating logical systems, assigning to client i think is for Basis person will do or the functional but not ABAPer mostly...
and also no Particulat ALE consultant exists...

Can BAPI Calls in a report trigger an IDOC using BAPI-ALE?
Hi,
I had a requirement to create PO using BAPI. The code is complete. But now I have to use an IDOc instead of BAPI since it is an asynchronous scenario.
Is there any possible way that after CALL BAPI step in the report, an IDOc will be triggered. Is it possible if i set BAPI-ALE?
If yes, do we need to call call_bapi_commit.
Regards,
Sreehari.hi Shree,
What i understood from u r question is that u need to send teh created PO(created in by bapi ) through IDoc .
Correct me if i m wrong.
you can trigger IDoc from report program easily . I think u have to use bapi _transaction _commit to commit and then trigger IDoc .
And also check the possiblity of change pointer as they r for the same. -
Mass Upload - ALE/IDOC or BAPI approch
Hi Guys,
I have to upload material master and we have options to do it by either ALE/IDOC or BAPI approach. The quantity of materials is quite huge. I tried to find some comparison about different approaches so as to know when to use what but not able to get exact information. Kindly suggest which one is usually preferred for mass upload and if possible provide some links for more references.
Thanks,
Brijesh SoniI have never seen such recomendations or benchmarks
SAP has a homepage for benchmarks: http://www.sap.com/solutions/benchmark/index.epx
the source is the same, then result is the same. all steps in LSMW are the same. you have to map the same fields in any method.
BAPI may have some more structures than IDOC or batch input. so just minutes more to assign the source structure to the target structure. .
it is a historical growth or development. It started with batch input to process SAP transactions en mass
then the IDOCs came to exchange data between 2 SAP systems.
and then we got the BAPIs to execute SAP transactions even from a non-sap system.
the result is in all three methods a created material master.
LSMW is a toolbox which gives you any of the available import methods.
there are other aspects to be considered in a migration.
What if you have errors? do you correct them yourself, or do you want the business people to fix them.
if you want business people to fix wrong data, then a batch import method may be the first option, as you can process it in foreground. It is too much complicated for a Non-IT-person to edit values in IDOCs. (even the performance may be better than a batch input) -
Objects in ale/idocs, bapi
1)can any one give me any good object in ale /idocs and BAPI and explain them (senario where that is used and why and how .
i will give you maximun reward points if i can understand them .Hi,
IDOC Programming
There are two processes in IDOC processing one is INBOUND PROCESS( IDOC coming to the system and its handling at various stages) and the other is OUTBOUND PROCESS( IDOC is send to other system . Separate ABAP programs are written for these 2 processes and different configuration settings are required for each one .Depending upon the trigeering mechanism different programming approaches are used.OUTBOUND PROGRAMS handle the IDOC creation and INBOUND PROGRAMS handle the inbound IDOC and the data trasfer from the IDOC to the database tables.
NEED FOR ABAP PROGRAMMING arises if
1)New IDOC was created
Depending upon the triggering mechanism i.e change pointer, message control
etc the programming technique changes and the type of process.
2)Existing IDOC was extended
User Exits are used to populate data in new segments added and to read them
back.
3)To enhance an exsiting process.
User Exits are used .
Basic structure of an OUTBOUND PROGRAM
The basic structure of all outbound programs is same. The CONTROL
record which is of TYPE EDIDC has to be filled. It contains important fields like
IDOCTP IDOC type
MESTYP Message Type
RCVPRN Recieving Partner (Destination)
RCVPRT Partner Type (it is LS i.e Logical System)
The DATA RECORD internal table which is of TYPE EDIDD has to be filled
in the same order as there are segments in the IDOC definition.
It has 2 important fields which are to be filled ,these are
SEGNAM Name of the segment
SEGDATA Data in the segment and can be upto 1000 bytes. This field
is corresponds to each data segment in the IDOC.
e.g.
DATA INT_EDIDD LIKE EDIDD OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
DATA W_SEGDATA LIKE zsegment "custom segment zsegment
INT_EDIDD-SEGNAM = 'ZSEGMENT'
W_SEGDATA-field1 = value "taken from some table
W_SEGDATA-field2 = value "taken from some table
INT_EDIDD-SEGDATA = W_SEGDATA
APPEND INT_EDIDD
This will fill the data record corresponding to the segment ZSEGMENT . For all
segments the sam steps will be repeated until all the data corresponding to all the
segments in the idoc is filled in the internal table of type EDIDD.
There is only one control record and can be multile data records in the idoc
structure.
Which data is to be extracted from the tables to be filled in EDIDD type internal table is determined in standalone programs from the objects which are specified in the selection screen and from the object key passed to the function module in case of message control and is taken from BDCP table in case of change pointers using function modules "CHANGE_POINTERS_READ"
In case of stand alone programs and function modules based on change pointers method the function module "MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE" is used to send the IDOC to ALE layer for distribution ,in case of message control it is handled automatically by the RSNASTED program invoked by the message control.
OUTBOUND PROCESS AND OUTBOUND PROGRAM
Outbound programs are used in outbound process to genearte IDOCs . There
purpose is to extract the data from the tables and to fill the IDOC data records
and the control record in the IDOC and pass ito the ALE layer for distribution to the recieving system .
Depending upon the triggering mechanism (how and when the outbound program will be started different techniques and interface is used for outbound program.
1)Message control
Application like PO(purchase order) creation use this technique , where the output type is linked to the application(Message control is a configurable cross application component which can be set in IMG .Such programs are created in the form of function modules and linked to the output type which is linked to the apllication. These have predefined interfaces.
In outbound programs(function module) that use message control the key of the
application document is passed to the function module whcig will read the data from the table depending upon the key passed(NAST structure) and fill the IDOC segemnts with the application data. The control record is also passed to the function module but is not fully filled, the rmaining fields are filled and the control is passed back to the calling program which is RSNASTED and is invoked by the
message control to process ALE and EDI output types and this program on recieving the IDOC data will create the physical IDOC in the system.
The parameteers passed to the function module are
IMPORTING PARAMETERS
OBJECT LIKE NAST
It contains documents key.
CONTROL_RECORD_IN LIKE EDIDC
It contains the partailly filled control record
EXPORETING PARAMETER
OBJECT_TYPE
CONTROL_RECORD_OUT LIKE EDIDC
TABLES
INT_EDID LIKE EDIDD
The internal table used to fill the data records in the same order as they exists in
the IDOC.
The important parameters that should be filled in the custom function module are
CONTROL_RECORD_OUT and INT_EDIDD .The OBJK field of the structue NAST contains the key of the apllication document.
2)Stand alone programs
Generally used for Master Data transfer and as such depending upon the requirement can have different interfaces. The programs have a selection screen which has select options to select the objects, and parameters for specifying the recipient Logical System and the Message Type.
Data is selected based on the specified objects from the tables . and control record of type EDIDC is created and filled with important values like DIRECTION ,IDOCTP,RCVPRT,RCVPRN and MESTYP .
Data is filled in an internal table of TYPE EDIDD according to segment definitions
and in same order and the function module MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE is called passing the control record and the internal table containg IDOC data and importing an internal table consisting of control records for each communication IDOCS created.
3)Change pointer
Change Pointer table is read and checked if changes were made to important fields , if so the outbound program will be triggered automatically , these have predefined interfaces

Steps in Inbound Processing in ALE IDOC
Hi all,
Could anyone explain the steps to be followed in inbound processing in ALE Idoc.
I know we have to create a FM n then call that in a program. But still the detail steps are not clear.
An example will be really helpful.
ThanxHi
Outbound:
Step 1. Application document is created when transaction is saved.
2. Message control is invoked.
3. Messages are processed by system.
4. Messages are Edited (if desired).
5. Output (ALE / EDI) is checked
6. Validate against Message control record from Partner Profile
7. Application Document is saved.
8. Entry NAST table is created for every selected output program
along with Medium & Timing.
9. Check for Process Immediately .
If (yes)
Determine Processing Program from TNAPR Table.
ELSE
Execute RSNASTED Program.
10. Read Partner Profile to determine Process Code.
11. Process Code points to the Function Module & Invoked.
12. IDoc is generated.
13. Check for ALE Request.
if (Yes)
Perform Filters, Conversions, Version Changes etc.
Else.
IDoc is stored in DATABASE.
INBOUND:
Step 1. EDI Subsystem creates an IDoc file from EDI Messages
2. Subsystem calls Functional Module EDI_DATA_INCOMING from startRFC program.
3. Data in Control Record is validate against the Partner Profile.
4. IDoc is generated in Database and syntax check is carried out.
5. IDoc file is deleted once file read.
6. Event PROCESSSTATE REACHED is triggered in Idoc Object Workflow.
7. Check for Process Immediately.
If NO
Execute RBDAPP01 Program
Else
Read Process Code from Partner Profile
Process Code Points to Function Module
Application Document Posted.

Data Creation in Idoc
IDocs are text encoded documents with a rigid structure that are used to exchange data between R/3 and a foreign system. Instead of calling a program in the destination system directly, the data is first packed into an IDoc and then sent to the receiving system, where it is analyzed and properly processed. Therefore an IDoc data exchange is always an
asynchronous process. The significant difference between simple RFC-calls and IDoc data exchange is the fact, that every action performed on IDocs are protocolled by R/3 and IDocs can be reprocessed if an error occurred in one of the message steps.
While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to deliver data to the receiving system. ALE is basically the scheduling mechanism that defines when and between which partners and what kind of data will be exchanged on a regular or event triggered basis. Such a set-up is called an ALE-scenario.
IDoc is a intermediate document to exchange data between two SAP Systems.
*IDocs are structured ASCII files (or a virtual equivalent).
*Electronic Interchange Document
*They are the file format used by SAP R/3 to exchange data with foreign systems.
*Data Is transmitted in ASCII format, i.e. human readable form
*IDocs exchange messages
*IDocs are used like classical interface files
IDOC types are templates for specific message types depending on what is the business document, you want to exchange.
WE30 - you can create a IDOC type.
An IDOC with data, will have to be triggered by the application that is trying to send out the data.
FOr testing you can use WE19.
How to create idoc?
*WE30 - you can create a IDOC type

An IDoc is simply a data container that is used to exchange information between any two processes that can understand the syntax and semantics of the data...
1.IDOCs are stored in the database. In the SAP system, IDOCs are stored in database tables.
2.IDOCs are independent of the sending and receiving systems.
3.IDOCs are independent of the direction of data exchange.
The two available process for IDOCs are
Outbound Process
Inbound Process
AND There are basically two types of IDOCs.
Basic IDOCs
Basic IDOC type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems.
Extended IDOCs
Extending the functionality by adding more segments to existing Basic IDOCs.
To Create Idoc we need to follow these steps:
Create Segment ( WE31)
Create Idoc Type ( WE30)
Create Message Type ( WE81)
Assign Idoc Type to Message Type ( WE82)

Is it possible to use BAPI-ALE to send an idoc using the message control?
Hi Guys
Is it possible to use BAPi-ALE to send an IDOC using a message control?
I have configured the system to send an IDOC when a outbound delivery is saved in the system.
I have done the following.
1). I am using the std BAPI-ALE interface provided by the object type LIKP.
2). I am using the method SAVEREPLICA for which an interface already exists in BDBG transaction.
3). I hace created a distribution model in BD64 and added the BAPI - LIKP and SAVEREPLICA
4). Created a partner profile ( using the generate partner profile option in the BD64 transaction )
QUESTION:
1). How do i associate the custom OUTPUT type created for Delivery ?
2). I tried to associate the custom output type in the Partner profile definition under the message control tab but i am not sure which Process code to be used? Since the partner profile was generated automatically from BD64 it has an entry for SHP_OBDLV_SAVE_REPLICA as a message type in the outbound parameters. and i am unable to find a process code for this Message type in WE41. So what process code should i use in the Message control tab against the custom output type?
3). Do i need to leave the message control tab empty without making any entry? If yes then how would the system come to know that it needs to trigger this partner profile when the custom output type is proposed by the system?
