Still having restore issues

Not trying to beat the dead horse, I have read discussion after discussion and so far nothing has worked.
I have a 2007 MacBook running snow leopard. Trying to restore it to factory. It will not read the install disc so I can't boot from disc. I even bought an external optical drive, but it won't read from there either.  I tried creating a disc image into an external hard drive from my 2012 MacBook Pro since it will read the disc but it keeps saying the file is too large to put on the external. I have at least 60 or so gigs free so I don't know what the problem is. I don't know what else to try. I thought about going into disk utility and erasing the partition but I figured it would also erase the OS and I would be screwed since I can't get it to read the disk. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The % of hard drive is irrelevant. I know people that put a disk image on a flash drive using up most of its space.
MacBook Pro installer disc? What? No. You're missing everything I said. Pla, the discs aren't for MacBook or MacBook Pro. It's an operating system on a CD. Generally speaking, the computer is irrelevant as well. Not always, but generally. I have a snow leopard disk. The same exact snow leopard disk that I installed snow leopard on my 2007 MacBook with. It's not a compatibility issue. I found out though it's a disk issue.
I borrowed a disk. It read it fine but stopped mid install and failed with the error "could not copy necessary support files". Read up on it and a lot of people had that same issue, tried some of their methods and kept failing. Well now my MacBook won't even read this disk either and has a flashing folder with a question mark. I feel like I'm about on the brink of my computer being royally screwed.
Note: I want to restore to factory because I want it to start over like factory lol I may or may not be selling/giving it to a friend.

  • HT4623 I can no longer send photos from my Iphone 4G. Also not receiving any photos sent by family members. I did the reset of the entire phone & restored from Icloud backup still having same issue.

I can no longer send pictures from my I phone 4Gs, It's been updated & I reset the entire phone & restored. Still having same issues. Also not receiving pictures anymore either.

Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
    Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

You can either upgrade to Lightroom 5.4 or later, or use the free Adobe DNG Converter version 8.6 to convert your RAW photos to DNG, which then will import into Lightroom 4.

sorry... can't help, not having these "restore" issues (yet...) and I've done 4- Restore to Backup the past week and two "restore to new Phone" and no issues... other than the fact that with a "Restore to New Phone" my 3rd party data app's are not "recoverable" as with the "restore to backup"

  • Still Having "Connecting" issue after 2.02 Update

Just curious to know if others are still having the problem where Mail keeps showing "connecting" when the program is opened, and you get the iPhone version of the spinning beach ball of death.
It only stops after a hard reset.
If anyone has figured out how to solve this issue, please post

I certainly agree... a tough summer.
We support physicians in a metro hospital and some of them are clamoring for new i Phones. So I made the switch -- moving my business number and mail -- to my personal first gen iPhone.
Based on the troubles in collecting POP mail (used by a number of our University docs) as well as difficulty in connecting to our Exchange server ... we now officially discourage physicians from making the switch.
We've found that disabling WiFi helps in collecting POP mail more reliably, but it often requires a re-boot to make a successful connection.
    It's really a shame.

  • Removed Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 8; some clients still having Outlook issues

We have removed Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 8 and rebooted the Exchange servers; but some Outlook clients are still experiencing the issues where calendar appointments can't be saved. They get "the item cannot be saved to this folder. The folder was deleted
or moved or you do not have permission." Then "the operation failed". Everyone has created new Outlook profiles. This fixes some computers; but not all. This is happening on Windows 7 with Office 2010 and Windows 8.1 with Office 2010.
    Does anyone have a fix?
    Thanks!
    Mary Cato

    Hi Mary,
Is there the same issue when using OWA ?
If OWA is ok, except recreate outlook profile, I also recommend you try moving mailboxes to another database and check if any helps.

  • Am I the only one still having this issue

I realize IE put a fix in place in April 2008 for swf flash

Do I need a new plug in page reference to Adobe?

  • Having trouble sync'ing. Receiving Overcapacity error on my 64GB iPhone 5. Backed up and restored but still having sync issues.

I have an iPHone 5 64GB with iTunes 11 installed on an 2 yr old HP laptop running Windows 7. I am having sync'ing issues. I am receiving an overcapacity error I have not seen before even though I can manually remove audiobooks I have previously loaded to get the overcapacity down below the available 64GB limit. I have removed most of them now and can get the sync to begin. Not sure if it will actually complete. But now I do not have but a relatively few audio books loaded. I have backed up and restored to see it that helps but am still getting the same overcapacity error. Seems whatever I had included was doubled in an "other" category. Also, in the recent upgrade to iTunes, it takes forever to sync when I change content. Sync'ing takes a lot longer than before. Has anyone else experienced similar performance issues.

Lawrence Finch has previously provided the following helpful info...
"Other" data is real data that you put on your phone by using the built in apps. It is not music, not videos, not pictures and not App Store app data. It is "OTHER" meaning everything that does not fall into these categories. Such as:
    email messages and attachments
    Reminders
    Calendar entries
    Contacts
Text messages   (*** this can take up a lot of space)
    MMS messages and attachments
    Genius data
    Music cover art
    Operating system settings
    Safari cache
    bookmarks
    Game Center status
    Music catalog
If you have a lot of text messages stored, that can make "Other" very large.  Another problem area is corrupted files.  When app and data files become corrupted, they may end up in "Other".  To fix that, perform a restore from a recent backup.  That prevents corrupt files from showing up.

  • I have an issue with my iphone touch screen not responding, apple replaced phone and still having same issue. They say its software, what can I do I need my phone to work

Touch screen on Iphone slowly, over a few days stopped responding. Went to Genius Bar and was given a new 3GS because they didn't know how to fix the issue. Cool. Went home synced with Macbook Pro (new-12/2010), two days later same issue. This time when I went to Genius Bar they restored the phone to factory settings and instructed me to load as a new phone in Itunes instead of restoring information of the previous phone, which is an option good for when your replacing phone not fixing one Anywho, did everything they told me to do. SAME ISSUE A FEW DAYS LATER. This time I was told the software issue is with my Macbook and I thought this made sense, so I took it in along with the phone. That was yesterday. Phone working intermittently since leaving Apple. I was given instructions that if their "daily" fix didn't work to erase hard-drive and reinstall software that came with the macbook and start fresh. This would definately fix the issue. Extreme yes, but I need use of my phone, especially since we got rid of the house phone and all use cell phones. So last night I did the required erase of hard-drive and re-loaded all software that came with it and Microsoft Office for Mac. Plugged in the phone to set up in itunes and thought that was it. My phone is still not working. Can't answer when I try, can't make calls, etc. What the heck do I do? I'm starting to feel like a major lamo having to keep going back to Genius Bar, but I know enough to know these issues should have been resolved with the steps I've taken. I even went as far as to restore through my husbands computer and same thing. Could there be a problem with Itunes? Could the magnetic stripe in my debit card be hurting the device somehow, although that's a long shot since I have had the same or similar case since getting the phone. Frustrated beyond belief. Apple support not open at this hour so I'm trying my luck here.....
    Thanks for any input.

restore iPhone as new and start again

  • After several repairs, still having heating issue with MacBook Pro (mid '09)

EDIT: this post got removed the first time for not being constructive enough. I've now edited the post.
This is going to be a lengthy post, so bear with me.
2 months ago, I suddenly noticed my MacBook Pro (medio 2009, 15", 4GB RAM, GeForce 9400M) heating up a lot harder than usual. I'm familiar with the heating issues these laptops have, but this wasn't normal. Looking at iStat Pro, I saw my fans almost taking off like an airplane at 5700 rpm, while watching only a livestream on my browser. I know Shockwave Flash takes up quite a chunk of your CPU, but I had never encountered this problem beforehand.
The biggest problem wasn't just the heat or the fans, but the fact that my computer also started reacting rather slowly. Sometimes I'd even get beachballed, or the whole browser stopped responding for half a minute...
So I tried to see if gaming was still an option. Of course not. I had been playing League of Legends for several months without any issues. Whilst playing, I'd kick up my fans manually to about 4000 rpm, and they'd stay there throughout the whole game. Now, when I start up the game, it plays smoothly for the first 2 minutes. After the temperatures rise to a critical level, the fans start spinning up to 5700 rpm, and the whole game plays like a powerpoint presentation.
On a sidenote: it sort of 'lags' every 1-2 seconds, and sometimes, after a long period, the game acts somewhat normal again (20 mins). This game uses wine to run, which isn't the most optimal way. So I tried playing Team Fortress 2, too. Probably even worse results! (but again noticeable 1-2 second interval lags)
Before anyone starts screaming: "Don't use your Mac for gaming!" etc., I wish to point out that these two games had been running perfectly for the past few months/years. Something's definitely wrong.
After looking for some solutions myself, I decided to go to an authorized Apple Service in my city. A few days later, they told me my logic board was broken, and I had to pay almost 700 euros ($ 900-1000) to replace it. So I did. I got it back, but it wasn't fixed. Brought it back in. Got it back a week later: "Your new logic board we got from Apple was already broken, but we hadn't noticed. We put a new one in it. It's fixed." Again, same problem.
We're almost 2 months later and 700 euros poorer, still no result. I've brought it in about 6-7 times now, here's a list of what they've tried so far:
    - In total 3 new logic boards
    - New MagSafe (because they discovered it was giving too much power too my laptop)
    - Fresh re-install
    - Replaced RAM
    - Checked fans etc. (they do this by default)
    - A few tests which proved that it was repaired (but I have my doubts with these tests...)
They told me now that it's fixed, and they basically won't look into it anymore. I must contact Apple myself, if I wasn't satisfied. The tests they performed showed no signs of heating issues. (One of the tests was playing 4 1080p movies at the same time. When I watch a 1080p movie on Youtube, my laptop is taking off like a plane) They ran a stress test all night long, showing no temperatures above 98°C. I got it up to 105°C in a few minutes according to iStat Pro.
They advised me to install Mountain Lion, which would make the issues with "high-performance sites" go away. I haven't seen much improvement, though.
This whole experience has been quite frustrating, especially now that I'm gonna need my laptop for University again. Isn't there anything I can do? I've paid almost 700 euros and missed my laptop for 2 months, without any results.
I've got more information regarding the issues if needed, ask away. I'm getting desperate.
I've been browsing around the support communites, and found that a lot of people are having issues since they upgraded to OS X Lion. Could this be the case? Should I try downgrading to Snow Leopard?
I've also found a few topics on refreshing the cooling pasta on the heatsink. Would they have noticed any problems with this after replacing the Logic Board several times? Or should I check it myself? I'm not too keen on opening up my laptop myself...
    Nick.

    Thought of buying Parallels? Fusion?
Might want to see if this gets moved to the MacBook Pro forum.
I'd think Windows 8.1 is smart enough (what I use 90% time since the Dev Preview came out couple yrs ago it seems like) to find the driver.

  • Still having fan issues and kernel task issues

Hi there, I got a iMac Late 2013 model, 8 GB RAM, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Running Mac OS X 10.10.1. I have had issues in the past with this the Fan running for no reason on this computer. I read numerous articles about this on the web and most said to do a SMC reset and also that certain cables (USB) may cause this. I recently did and SMC, repaired permissions, ran daily/weekly/monthly scripts. Yesterday computer was fine, this morning the fan is going full blast and in activity monitor it says  Kernel_task 300+% CPU, CPU time 22:32:14:55. Anyone have any thoughts on this as to why this continues or what I am missing here. Really gets annoying to shut down, SMC restart then good for a day or so. Thanks in advance
This was originally an old post from a couple months ago and I;m bringing it back to life here as the issue still persists.   Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Still having authorization issues

I have done everything possible to see that only one computer is authorized for my songs.  yet when I select certain songs for playback I still get an authorization message.  When I type in my ID and password it states that my computer is already authorized.

I am in the same situation.
10.4.6 fixed nothing. Interestingly enough, booting the MBP into XP, I can connect and get an IP from the same LEAP access point.
Apparently it's not a firmware or hardware issue, but the driver and/or networking stack.
I'm hoping 10.4.7 fixes this as it truly makes the MBP useless in my office
