Stills Disappearing

I’m working with stills with Final Cut Pro 5.1.4. I have never had this happen before. I will set the keyframes on a still and it looks great. I come back later and the still is blank in the Canvas but appears in the viewer. If I slightly adjust the scale of the still it reappears in the Canvas, but when I come back to check later, it has vanished again. There is only the wireframe and sometime the green line indicating the motion of the still.

I apologize. I posted this question, and then I deleted the .mov, and I’m putting a new one up. I redid the keyframing. The first time I used “paste attribute” function. I had do this before with no problem, but that seemed to be the problem. I went back and keyframed each still separately, and it seemed to work.
Hopefully the clip will be uploaded soon. It is 111 MBs.
This is still a mystery, and I hope I will be able to use the “paste attribute” again.

How come search engines still disappear after localstore.rdf is reset?

Well I keep adding Google and such to my search bar but with every start of Firefox they disappear again. I have already deleted the localstore.rdf and did a complete reinstall of Firefox but it has not helped

You can search on the <b>about:config</b> page to see if there are still prefs that link to delta-search and reset them via the right-click context menu.

Hiding IND CS3 with Leopard 10.5.4 (still disappearing when hidden)

Hello all...
I updated Leopard to 10.5.4 as I was told it would resolve the "disappearing act" IND CS3 does when you hide the program and then come back to it... It seemed all good for the last couple of days until I just noticed the disappearing act again just now. I'd try and bring the program to the foreground, the icon says it's there, Apple+Tab says it's there and the first program opened, but I don't see anything, despite hitting the tab key (to toggle tool boxes & palettes) or launching documents outside of the program's Open command...
anyone else?

Oh yes, happens to me too - I'm pretty sure this is Apple related as a lot of other people have had the same thing happen with other apps. I sometimes get the same thing happening with Bryce.
In my extremely-non-expert-but-completely-by-educated-guesswork opinion, it's something to do with memory.

Gone through 2 Express's... Still disappearing during setup

I am using a combo DSL modem/router from Verizon (the GT704WG) and would like to use it to play music over Airtunes. It used to work when I was on AT&T but now that I've switched to Verizon I get the blinking amber light.
By default, the Express unit does not show up in the setup program, I have to reset it. Once I do that and go through all the steps it disappears from the list and says an error occurred and that the unit could not access the network. So I'm not sure what else I can do here. I got 2 months of use out of this thing and it seems like that will be it. Any other ideas? I doubt its the Express as I've already got 2 new ones from the Apple Store

Fixed this issue by running the setup with the Express unit connected to my laptop by ethernet vs. trying to do it wirelessly.

I have my settings correct, but my app tabs, or previous session tabs STILL disappear whenever I close Firefox. Help?

1. I have a basic MacBook.
2. I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8.
3. Under Firefox, I have my preference settings set on "When Firefox starts 'show my windows and tabs from last time'."
4. I have privacy settings set to "Tell websites I do not want to be tracked." and "Firefox will remember history."
Whenever I close Firefox (by clicking on the red dot at the top of the window OR by clicking 'quit Firefox' from the menu) and reopen it, it shows only my home page.
None of my tabs are saved - including the new app tabs (which sounded like something I'd like!) I don't have any trouble pinning the app tabs, but they don't stick. Or pin, that is. :) Nor can I get a restored browsing session.
This is something I can live with, but it's frustrating. Any suggestions?

Skype credit reactivated but still disappeared

I recently reactivated my 10 euro skype credit. Today (after a skype call) I got a series of messages about 'suspicious activity' and my account was suspended. It took some link clicking and password resetting etc to get my account released. However, I just noticed that I only have 0.30 euro left??? What is going on here and what can I do about it? I noticed that you were able to help others with my issue- I have been in contact with skype customer service reps over and over again both over email and chat since early june after I found that my account has been restricted and I've gotten the same copy and pasted reply, and no one seems to be able to help me. Contacts STILL disappearing after complete clean install of everything

OK, keep a long story short: Old Snow Leopard server + Lion or newer clients resulted in users with network home folders having their contacts deleted over and over and over. There have been a few thread concerning this, and I've gone through hours and hours of troubleshooting from those threads, but nothing resulted in a solution that worked for more than a few hours.
Now, this year, our school has a completely fresh Mavericks server install on all new hardware. This server is setup to run ONLY File Sharing and Open Directory for networked home folders. We just point each client machine at the Server's IP address on the LAN and bind it to the server as usual. That's all we need and all we want. No other service is running on the server, and never has been. Clients are running Mountain Lion for the most part. Users are completely setup from scratch this year, only Documents, Desktop items etc. have been moved. Nothing from Library folder, just basic files. Local accounts on the bound computers work fine, it's only the accounts (network home folders) which reside on the Server that fail in this way.
So this is about the most basic networking setup imaginable, and yet *bam* many, many hours into setting up the users and what happens but the freaking contacts start getting deleted again. How can this be happening? What could possibly be wrong? The users are NOT setup to sync contacts to ANY service, period. It's just each user and their own contacts for now. The Contacts app should just be saving contacts to the users's own home folder, leaving them there, and then opening them again. But it isn't; it's deleting them, over and over and over. We wanted to keep it as simple as possible due to the nightmare regarding the Address Book server we used to run on the old Xserve. We have done absolutely nothing strange in our installation; just installed the server and turned on the only two services we need.
This has just GOT to be some simple little setting somewhere, so any help would be greatly appreciated. (BTW, I did go into Directory Utility on a couple client machines and noticed that in the search path for Contacts it was pointed to default to a Local directory, and then to look for an LDAPv3 directory service. Removing the reference to the LDAPv3 server and restarting the client machine did nothing; the problem occurs just the same either way.

Disappearing Canvases Any Ideas?

On my form the screen is split into two canvases, one contains system information (basically two text fields) this canvas (stacked) is displayed on every form in the system.
The main part of the screen is a content canvas which holds the tree view and other items. When I click on the tree view (and only when I click on the tree view) the stacked canvas disappears for no apparent reason. Any ideas why this could be happening?
I can click anywhere else on the content canvas and nothing happens but as soon as my mouse is clicked within the tree view my stacked canvas disappears. Any ideas?

I tried both methods hence the commented out code.
This trigger was added to try and solve the problem
of the canvas disappearing, hence doesn't affect it

Even if I remove the trigger the canvas still

Any further ideas?Remove all codes with show_view, hide_view in your form.
Set raise-on-entry property to N of both canvases.
Add
show_view('name of content canvas');
show_view('name of stack canvas');
in when-new-form-instance trigger.

AirPort Express disappears for network until it is rebooted, Arp problem

Hi,
I have just configured my AirPort Express as a remote speaker for iTunes.
After the AirPort is powered on I can access it via AirPort admin tool and from iTunes.
After a while, the AirPort can no longer be connected to, either by the admin utility or iTunes.
I am running firmware 6.3, and have reinstalled this version. The unit is around 4 months old
Anyway, what I have noticed is that the AirPort does not seem to respond to TCPIP ARP requests which means that if a computer flushes or expires its ARP cache it will not be able to connect to the AirPort.
A network sniffer shows the ARP packets being broadcast on the network but there is no response from the AirPort.
I can see that the AirPort sends out ARP requests after a reboot, but will not respond to ARP requests that other machines on the network send out.
Any ideas?

I have had the AU running at all times but the AX's would still disappear.
The latest think I have tried is "not allow wireless clients" check box on the AX units. Since I have done this, I have not had an AX actually disappear. I now just deal with music skips and chops, if I turn on more than 2 units.
I also realize that using the AX units in for an Ethernet bridge is actually slower than using the Wireless G adapter. I use wireless to transfer shows on Tivo.
At this point, I am back to square one. The AE router gives me no benefits over a linksys or other wireless router. I can't use WDS, I can't use Ethernet Bridge.
The next thing I will try is to go back to Wireless G adapters on all the Tivos, then "allow wireless clients" and the AX units. At least I will get the WDS feature and be able to extend the range on my network.
I am guessing, if I just set up the AX units they way they were before (non-wds) and use the Tivo Wireless G adapters (essentially the way my networks was originally set up minus the AE router), that everything will work fine.
I would think Apple would do a better job before marketing products to do this.

Icons disappearing in Photo app under iOS5

iOS5 Photo app has major bug on iPad
When you select folder and go into it, it is Ok. However when you leave the folder the icon of the folder and the name of the folder completely disappear as if its not there.
The only way to get the folder back is to quit the App and then go back into it and all the folders are there.
These folders worked total correctly on all previous iOS versions and still do with iOS5 on an iPhone.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Tried restarting, unfortunately this does not work for me. Icons still disappear when folders opened and then closed. Noticed this does the affect all icon folders but most. Icons are the first picture in each separate folder not anything I have created. Any other ideas?

Excel cell border disappears when converting to PDF (continued)

I too am getting the problem in which Excel cell borders are disappearing from cells with a background color. Lowering the resolution to 300 dpi does not help.
The borders are definitely disappearing. Printing the worksheet from Excel 2003 prints the cell borders. Printing the worksheet from the resulting PDF does not. I created the PDF using the Create PDF macro that Acrobat 9 adds to Excel.
Here's the really odd thing: it only affects two adjacent cells in the same (first) row of the worksheet. Other cells with the same background color in the same columns or the same row are not affected, nor are the cells in other rows or columns.
Copying similar cells that don't have the problem, then re-converting doesn't help.

I just tested inserting a blank row 1 in the spreadsheet, moving the problem cells to C2 and D2, but the borders still disappear from those cells.
Restoring back to C1 and D1, I note that if I copy the cell formats to other worksheets, the problem cells lose their borders on all worksheets.
I then tested what happened if I specified No Color for C1 and D1. The problem transferred to cells G1 and H1, which had then become the first adjacent cells with background color.
Restoring the background color to C1 and D1 transferred the problem back to C1 and D1, and removed the problem from G1 and H1.
Next, I gave cell A1 a background color of white. This removed the problem from cells C1 and D1, and gave it to A1.
Finally, I turned accessibility tagging off and that made the problem go away. However, I need tagging as we must post accessible documents.
So now I have a consistent way to describe the problem: cell borders disappear from the first set of contiguous cells with background colors if tagging is turned on. I'm going to file this as a bug.

Periods disappear after a number list

Every time I try to make a numbered list in a column the periods disappear. I tried to add them manually but they still disappear.

On the left of "Bullets & Numbers" there is a small triangle. Click it so that it faces down. At the bottom of the section you will see a radio button and "Start From". Check the button and enter the number you wish the list to start from.

Why do my pictures disappear after I send them in an email?

Actually, it's my hubby's problem. He has an iPhone 4S using iOS5. His job requires him to take pictures and email them back to the home office. The last few days everytime he emails the photos, they disappear from his camera roll. And the last time, the email wasn't received in his office, wasn't in his "Sent" folder and the pics were gone from his camera roll. Anyone have any ideas?

In Mail, Control-click on the Inbox and choose Account Info. In the resulting dialogue, is the Inbox said to contain any messages? If setup as IMAP in Entourage, and as you report the messages are in the Inbox (which in IMAP resides on the server) then they must still be on the server.
What I describe above is for normal IMAP operation -- I am unfamiliar with RackSpace; can you provde a link to it description of operation? Some implimentations present a subset of messages and can be impacted by what device or program first connects.
I would suggest quitting Entourage, and checking to see if the message still disappears after reading in Mail.

Photos disappearing from apple tv main menu

I have two apple tvs connected to one itunes via apple n wireless. Works well with the exception that the "photos" selection on the apple tv main menu disappears and i have to unplug the apple tv to get it to come back?? I have enough room on the disk and when i make changes i use the apply function - it still disappears on both apple tv's. By the way i have tons of extra space on one of them as it now has a 120GB drive - very cool.

If you connect to your computer in 'Streaming mode' then you will not see the photos menu item as you can't stream photos.
Just make sure that when you want to access your photos that you are using the Apple TV as the source (Go to the main menu, select Settings, then sources and select the Apple TV and not your computer)

Tx2110us windows 7 WLAN disappears

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on my machine. Been able to get pretty much everything working, but the Broadcom WLAN isn't consistent. Sometimes when I reboot it disappears! Can't see it in Device Manager at all, like it's not even connected!
At first I thought it was a conflict as it seemed to happen when I installed other drivers. So I wiped the HD, did a CLEAN install of 7, got it working, installed the Windows Update for Broadcom, rebooted, AND IT DISAPPEARED. So no other drivers have been installed other than stock Windows and IT STILL DISAPPEARED. I rebooted into safe mode with networking to see if maybe it would appear, got nothing. So I rebooted and when I logged in, IT CAME BACK! So I rebooted again without changing ANYTHING, and guess what? NO WIRELESS CARD. Not in the device manager, not listed under Network, not listed under unknown, NOT LISTED. Win 7 just seems to see it whenever it feels like it!
Does anyone have a clue?
I should also add that after dealing with this for a day I installed Windows XP, during which I had absolutely no problems installing and connecting the WLAN, so I'm pretty confident that it's just 7!

First of all, you need to go into your advanced power settings and lower your processor usage to 50%. I have my "Power Saver" setting at 50% and my "Balanced" setting at 80%. I use the "Power Saver" 90% of the time, only using "Balanced" when I work in Photoshop. Doing it this way will prevent your notebook from overheating and circumvent the fact that HP DOESN'T KNOW JACK ABOUT SYSTEM COOLING. Running my machine at 100% will overheat it EVERY TIME and since HP is too retarded to figure out how to set up an overheat warning the machine clicks off and everything you are working on is lost. These machines are CLEARLY defective according to LOTS OF PEOPLE. Scaling your processor back will hopefully extend the life of your machine, since HP refuses to do good business and take care of those of us they have profited from. Using "Power Saver" mode has kept my machine working for about 2 years now, where most people are claiming they have problems within 6 months out of warranty, some even earlier. (if anyone at HP has doubts about this then I'd like them to explain why when I ran WinXP on my machine it wouldn't run for more than 20 minutes without overheating and turning off, it does not have processor scaling, it uses the processor to it's fullest, AND I'm *very touchy about my equipment* so my notebook is in EXCELLENT condition)
You can access these settings by clicking the battery icon in the system tray and clicking "More Power Options", then "Change Plan Settings", then "Change Advanced Power Settings". Look for "Processor Power Management" in the dialog that appears and set the max accordingly.
Make sure when you run it at 80% you use a cooling pad. In fact, just elevating it to gain more air clearance seems to make enough difference to be worth it.
Secondly, my wireless card is not damaged, that was my first concern, so I tested it with Windows XP and it works PERFECTLY. 20 reboots in a row, not one single hiccup. More than likely yours is not broken, Windows 7 just doesn't see it. I went for 2 solid weeks after installing Win7 without seeing my wireless appear while waiting for a USB wireless in the mail. When the USB wireless arrived I got it working, no problem. One time when I rebooted with the wireless card plugged in the right side USB of my tx2110us my internal wireless re-appeared! It worked for about 2-3 reboots and then disappeared again. I don't think it's a coincidence that it happened to come back THE SAME DAY I got my new external card after not working for 2 weeks SOLID. Also, if your card is damaged, then why would a reformat fix the problem temporarily? I re-installed 7 four or more times when this issue started and had the same results EVERY SINGLE TIME. Works for a few reboots and then *POOF*, non-existant. Obviously it's just a hardware compatibility issue and HP needs to update some specific drivers, probably for the card, maybe bios, who knows, who cares, it's their responsibility to fix it if they claim they'll support Windows 7. Luckily for you and I the tx2000 is on the list of machines that will be supported driver wise for Windows 7, but who knows, it could be a year or two before they get around to it since they're too busy devising new ways to deny that they have sold hundreds of people defective products. At the moment the only Win7 driver for this machine is for reverting back to Vista. Why anyone would wanna go back to that P.O.S. is far beyond my comprehension.
I couldn't find many people with this *exact* issue or a solution for it, so I swore that if I found a solution then I would post it here. I've also posted in windows7forums, sevenforums, microsoft's technet forums, and tabletpcreview. None of these communities had a viable solution, but if/when I find it then I will post it in all of those locations, I hope you do the same, and good luck!
