Stop 1 movie when playing another

I have a project with 5 flv files in it. I have buttons to
take the user to whichever clip they would like to hear (they are
audio only, with controllers).
The problem is, once you have started any of the clips
playing, if you click to go to another one, the first one continues
to play at the same time. Is there a simple script to tell whatever
may already be playing to stop before the other one begins?
This is my first Flash project,btw-- I don't know anything!
:)

That's exactly right! You and I, we're both instances of the
Human
class. Each of us shares properties, methods, and events
shared by all
humans. If someone (or something) shouted, "Whoa, duck!" it
would be awful
if every human being ducked. That's why the communication
goes one-on-one.

sense?
I'm proposing that you drag only a single FLVPlayback
instance to your
Stage. Give it an instance name -- let's say videoPlayer
(which is a little
more helpfully descriptive than kitty or froggy -- but same
concept). Now
that this one instance has an instance name, you can invoke
FLVPlayback
class members on it.
In frame 1, for example, you could set its contentPath
property to a
video about frogs.
videoPlayer.contentPath = "frogs.flv";
In frame 2, you could set its contentPath property to a
video about
kittens. There's really no need for more than on instance of
FLVPlayback on
the Stage (though there isn't anything illegal about it,
either). I know
you can set properties on FLVPlayback components (and any
component) in the
Parameters tab, but those parameters are nothing more than
properties. The
available properties depend on what class you're dealing
with.
If you really wanted to use more than one FLVPlayback
instance, you
would give each one its own instance name and use the
relevant instance name
as your object reference prefix. Either which way, you'll
find methods like
pause(), play(), stop(), and others that would make sense for
an object like
this one.
For FLVPlayback, you'll actually have to look in the
Components Language
Reference for ActionScript 2.0. If you're using Flash CS3 and
have access
to Actionscript 3.0, you'll find that even the components are
listed in the
ActionScript Language Reference, which is really helpful.

Can't. This is done for the individual movie, not by iTunes.
    Some have it, most don't.

  • How do I stop my movie from playing?

I have used previous versions of Adobe Flash and now have Professional CS5.5, and I am coming to you with an embarrasingly, ridiculously stupid question that is absolutely stumping me. My movie cannot stop playing, no matter how many stop(); I've embedded in there. I created a layer on top, added the stop(); code at the end of the scene, and the swf ignores it and starts playing the next scene. As an experiment, I put a stop(); on the very first frame of the .fla, but that too is ignored. I have dozens of stop(); action commands riddled throughout the movie, but not a one of them is capable of stopping the exported movie from playing and looping. I assume there must be some simple, easy property or code trick or document preference or something that I've overlooked, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. I thought stop(); was one of the easiest commands of all, but apparently it has stumped me. Help!

This is literally what I have in the first frame of the actions layer of the Main Menu....
             stop();
...and when I export into a .swf movie, the movie does not stop.
Update: in case anyone wants to know, all that is on the stage on the first frame are three images, two of which are at the beginning of a motion tween. There are movie clips and buttons elsewhere in the movie, but none exist on the first frame. FYI.

  • Audio stops and starts when playing back in Premiere CC

I've been having this problem for a while now thinking that an update would come along and solve the issue.
Basically when I try to view what I've edited on the timeline the audio very annoyingly stops for a bit then comes back just to disappear again, on and off throughout the entire edit.
I thought I would be able to cope but I cannot work like this.
I've made a list with a few of the things I've tried to do to stop this from happening to not waste anytime.
I thought it was perhaps coz my audio was a high quality wav. file so I converted to a 96kbps MP3. Still had a problem.
Changed sequence settings to Apple Pro Res which was suggested from a previous thread. Still had a problem.
Rendered just the audio. Still had a problem.
Rendered the entire in and out point. Still had a problem.
Played around with both audio hardware preferences (built in output & system default output + input). Still had a problem.
Kept the project file on the local disk, with only media on a thunderbolt G-Tech drive, as suggested/mentioned in a previous thread. Still had a problem.
I'm working from a Mac Pro with the following specs.
    Processor:   3,5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
    Memory:   32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics:   AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB
Please can someone help! This is extremely frustrating especially with the amount of deadlines I have at the moment!

  • Autoplay iPhoto movies when playing album as slideshow

I have one album in iPhoto that I share with my Apple TV. It contains photos and videos.
As it is now, when the movies show up in the slideshow it appears as a black screen with a question mark in the middle and I have to press the select button for it to play.
Is there any way for movies to automatically play when they show up?
    Thanks

Still looking for clarification if an ATV3 will play movies in Slideshow.
Has anyone been able to get this to work, or someone in Apple Support I could ask?

  • Playhead stopped following track when playing

I'm composing a few things, and when I play it back, the playhead stopped following the song, and it gets annoying having to scroll along with it and try to see if I want to make changes.
I must have accidentally hit a command or something to stop it from following the song, and I don't know how to change it back.
Does anyone have any idea on how to get the playhead (the arrow with the red line) to follow the song as it is being played? Thanks.

click the two arrow icon at the bottom right of the timeLine

  • How do you stop a movie from playing past the end?

I uploaded a video to Vimeo I made from various clips and there was about 40 seconds of black after the end. How do you add a marker so it knows where to stop and hopefull return to the beginning. I already put the 'stop' marker in but it plays past it in the elements editor and assume that's what it did in the uploaded video. I believe 'stop' marker is only for DVD play.  I have Elements 11.

Expand the Timeline with the -+ slider above the Timeline. Make sure that the slider is all the way to the right so that you are at maximum expansion. Then, as Hunt suggested, hit the End key and inspect the area where the Timeline Indicator stops. These possible fragments/leftovers present typically as very thin vertical black lines scattered in the tracks. After you delete any such fragments, repeat the process to make sure you have all the fragments.
The major reason for me adding to this thread was to remind you never to put a stop marker at the end of the last item on the Timeline. It is a bad practice to fall into. It is not needed and creates all sorts of problems especially as seen in burn to disc.
Please let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • PS CS5.1 suddenly stops working correctly when opening another file

Hi, I have the Creative Suite cs5.1 student version (had it for about a year now), and now recently I have started to encounter a strange bug with Photoshop.
Sometimes when I have been working in PS for a while and then open another file, the photoshop starts acting weird, resulting in the file looking like this: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14462293/wtf.png
And if I try to paint anything, it will look pixelated like in this file:  https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14462293/wtf2.png and if I use ctrl+z after painting the paint just looks like this:  https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14462293/wtf3.png
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14462293/wtf3.pngthe 2 last named effects will also apply for any images opened before this occurrence, and it happens for any file type.
I have checked my video card drivers, and they are up to date, so that's not a problem (My graphics card is ATI Radeon 5700 series). I've also run a throughout virus scan with Norton without it finding anything.
    Any advice would be appreciated

Actualyl they still might be. Having the latest and newest is not always the most reliable. According to Noel Carboni, the best driver for ATI cards and any version of PS at this point is Catalyst 12.8, not the latest 12.10. So in fact you may simply need to downgrade to fix these problems.

  • Why is HDCP stopping my movie from playing?

I watched the first movie no problem through the HDMI inpt but the second time I rented a movie (Spiderman HD) it stopped after a few seconds and gave an error message that my connection wouldn't allow HDCP (copyright protection?). Will changing the input connection resolve this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
this means the equipment or some of it is not HDCP compliant, but this may well be an error. Try restarting the Apple TV and trying again.

  • Podcasts and tv shows videos stop and start when playing.  The Audio flows fine, but video freezes for a moment and continues.  Do you know what I can do to fix?

When watching a podcast or tv program on itunes the video freezes and starts.  The audio still flows just fine.  Do you know what the solution might be?

The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.
No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

  • Apple TV stops during movie.....

Last Thursday I downloaded from iTunes the movie TRON. I was watching it using iTV when about an hour into the movie it just stopped. The movie was fully downloaded. During my troubleshooting on my computer the TV screen went to screen saver and it brought up my photos as usual.
Since Thursday I have tried everything I can think of and found on the troubleshooting page, but to no avail. Computer, iTunes and iTv are all up to date. iTv has been restored. iTV recognizes my computer for I see the name of my library but that about it. After I restored iTV I no longer see my photos on the iTV screen saver. The message I keep receiving on the TV screen goes something like this: Apple TV can't find the library. Make sure you are on the same network and turn on home sharing". I have only one network and iTV confirms the network as well as showing a strong signal strength. Home sharing is turned on in iTunes and iTV as well as photo sharing.
Any ideas? It would be appreciated....

Ok, problem solved. ATV now works as advertised.
One of the first things I did when this problem arose was check my computer settings, including my anti-virus software VIRUS BARRIER. In VB I made sure that all firewalls were down and all data entering and leaving my computer was set to "no restrictions" and nothing worked. VB is set to download updates automatically. Apparently when this issue started it updated the program during the movie play thereby doing something to stop the movie from playing and my library not to load. Yesterday I went back into VB and noticed a master ON/OFF switch that was set to ON. I turned it off and once I did that my library was able to load and I am back in business. I could swear I never saw that switch before for I have had VB for over 2 years. Guess it was just one of those things I just overlooked.

  • HT3523 I can play an .mov file but cannot open it to move it to another drive/disc/etc. When we try to open it, we get a message that says "The movie file for "beanmine.mov" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly."

We can play a .mov file (a full-length film created in final cut pro) but cannot actually open it in QuickTime. We get the error message saying that a file is missing, and the movie can't play properly without the file. The thing is, we can play the film, we just can't open it to move it to another drive. Help?
Also, can the lost file (which was deleted) be recovered from a Mac HD or an external hard drive?

Sounds like you created a "Reference" file here. I.e., a "Reference" file is a file that tells the player how to play the data contained in a "Resource" file. When you try to open the "Reference" file in the QT Player app, the first thing the player does is check to see if the "Resource" data file is is still available where it is supposed to be. (I.e., moving/deleting the resource file or moving reference file without moving the resource file to maintain the relative path between the two will generate the error message you mentioned.)
Also, can the lost file (which was deleted) be recovered from a Mac HD or an external hard drive?
That depends. Deleting a file does not actually erase the data immediately. Instead, the operating system just tells the system directory that the space containing the movie data is available for reuse if/when needed. As time passes, the chance that some of the data sectors will be re-written by other data continuously increases. To restore the file normally requires use of a special utility that both locates and restores all of the linked sectors containing the "deleted" movie data in their correct order. Other methods of restoring files would depend on the software you routinely have active on your system. For instance, do you use "TimeMachine?" or orther software that automatically backs up your data periodically? If so, then follow the instructions for your particular application to recover a deleted file.

  • Can iTunes be set to play only one song and then stop when the song is finished and not go on to play another unless commanded?

Can iTunes be set to play only one song and then stop when the song is finished and not go on to play another unless commanded?

If you uncheck all of the songs, they will only play if explicitly commanded. Command-click in a checkbox and they will all be unchecked. Command-clicking again will check the all again should you want to do that.
