Stop calc script when it retrieves in excel

Hello All,
I have a strange error. I run a calc script and can see the processing looking at task manager in Windows. However, when I retrieves this database, the calc script stop to run. Does Somebody know what happen? I could realize the database is with locked status. Is there any parameters to avoid it?
I am using:
Essbase Server 9.3.1.3
Essbase Client 9.3.1.3
Excel 2000

when you say stops to run, do you mean the calc script ends or that it stalls and is not calculating anything else? If it is the latter, then prehaps when you retireive, you have turned in update mode in your options which locks the cells until you are done. You could check this by going into EAS/AAS and checking for locks (not locked objects). If you lock the cells the Calc has to wait for them to be unlocked to allow it to continue.
If you mean the calc script ends, I can't answer as I've never seen that before

  • How to capture user ID within Calc script, when running?

    Client wants to capture run information automatically (user ID - who ran selected calc script ), and save that information in application itself to see who ran it last time, without checking related logs.
    User IDs have been enumerated already so if we can pick user ID text, we can set them as number value in Essbase. Expectation is to generate CDF to see related user ID and refer property file to get related number, to save in one of account. Its only possible if we can get in same session when run CDF and check who runs it.
    Any possible way to identify user ID from calc script in Essbase?

  • How do you stop multiple users executing the same calc script at the same time?

    We have an issue when  users uplaod a spreadsheet and then run a calc script. at one time we have multiple exectuions of the script running.
    This slows up the system and we have to go cancel all the executions and run it again.
    Can we stop this and put them on a queue, so only one execution of the calc happens at one time. Or stop multiple executions getting submitted at all.

    You could use EXCLUSIVECALC to stop more than one calc running at the same time, although this will apply to all applications on your server.  And it doesn't just stop the same calc being launched twice.  Easier than the alternatives I can think of though, if it works for you.

  • Essbase performance issue when calc scripts are run on FDM cube on same server

    We have a large Essbase application which has high usage on a daily basis, which is being impacted when we run Calc scripts on an FDM forecast cube which is on the same server. The large application is on EIS 11.1.2 and the FDM cubes are being migrated to the same server and also being upgraded from EIS 7.1 on Unix to EIS 11.1.2 on NT. Every time the Calc scripts are run on the FDM cube, the performance of the Essbase application is degraded and it shuts down after some time.

    Sudhir,
    Do you work at a help desk or are you a consultant? you ask such a varied range of questions I think the former. If you do work at a help desk, don't you have a next level support that could help you? If you are a consultant, I suggest getting together with another consultant that actually knows more. You might also want to close some of your questions,. You have 24 open and perhaps give points to those that helped you.

  • Retrieve imported and validated Entities for further ESSBASE calc Script

    Hi folks,
    once the FDM processing is finished:
    The Event Script AftConsolidate is executed.
    It is retrieving all unique Entity entries (trialbalance command), Period (POV), Scenario (POV) etc. and is bulding a dynamic ESSBAE calc script command which is afterwards executed to ensure that even the leaf member are correctly transferred to ESSBASE, the nodes are refreshed/aggregated as well.
    This works perfectly ;-)
    MY ISSUE:
    I want to clone this logic into a custom web script which then can be executed adhoc via webfrontend / Task Flow.
    I tried to copy the AftCondolidate Script into this custom web script. UNFORTUNATELY i get an error: saying DATA ACCESS ERROR
    My assumption is, that the trialbalance command does not work wit the custom web scripts.
    Is that right? Are there any workarounds how to retrieve out of a custom web script the entity dimension and store the unique entity entries in an array?
    regards
    Hau

    You don't need a custom script. FDM has functionality to call the consolidate action only, check the activities menu

    I keep getting script errors when accessing Amazon Seller merchant pages. I get the following A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://spautofill/content/spOverlay.js:150, I also get js210 as well. I have cleared all cookies and history and unistalled Firefaox and reinstalled. Been thru my AVS and set the site as trusted in every possible place. Still get the problem. Do not get it with IE on same PC.

    Same problem but with a different vendor site:
    https://www.webvitamins.com/myfavorites.aspx
    Not only does the page hang, but the other tabs also hang.
    I contacted the vendor and their reply was "we were told that this looks like a script that is used by "Sticky Password", third-party software that must have been installed on your browser. However, our website did not install it and does not have anything to do with it." As far as I can tell, "Sticky Password" is not installed on my Firefox.
    Same problem as above occurs, but with IE 8.0.6001.18702. Therefore, it is not unique to Firefox.
    CAUSE DETERMINED: Have determined that this problem only occurs when Kaspersky Password Manager is installed. In Firefox, if the "Password Manager Autofill Engine" add-on is disabled, the problem goes away.

  • Security on Calc Scripts in Excel Addin

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement where users will be running Calc scripts in Essbase through Excel addin. is there any way that I can restrict users to use only particular Calc Script. Any help will be greatful.
    Thanks in advance.

    If you externaized Essbase security to Shared Services then you would grant the user access to run a calc in Shared services, similar to doing it in EAS.
    One thing to note, Calc access by itself will give a user full write access to the entire databae unless you have a security filter to limit what they can read/write. If you are granting calc access, be sure you are also setting up a filter.

  • Detect when User Calc Script is Finished

    We are looking for a way to detect when a user has finished a calc script before defragment. We have a windows batch file which defrags multiple times during the day. Before we defrag we want to make sure all users are done running calc scripts. After this we want our defrag to begin. Likewise if the system is busy we want the defrag to wait until the user is done.

    A simple way is to unload the application UNLOADAPP "SAMPLE"; or ALTER SYSTEM UNLOAD APPLICATION SAMPLE; in Maxl. If a calc is running or the database is busy in any way, then the unload will fail with an error message telling you who is still performing an action on the database. If the action is succesful, then the application is quiet. You then disable connections to the application immediately to prevent anyone logging in, then do your defragment. Unloading the application at the end will automatically re-enable connections.

  • My Essbase db corrupting when i terminate the calc script why?

    Hi All,
    i got the problem with essbase db..It is corrupting the data when i terminating the any running calc script.
    So that every time i m taking the back up for that...
    Please let me know how to avoid this...and why it is corrupting ?...
    Is anything wrong with my Essbase?
    Regards,
    Prabhas

    If by "corrupting" you mean that essbase crashes and you can't restart the db then yes this is unusual and something is wrong with the environment. On the other hand, if you mean that the data is not the same as it was prior to starting the script then no there is nothing wrong. Essbase does not have a rollback feature that undo's the calc script processed up to the point where you killed it.

  • When opening FF I'm getting a script error "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://tavgp/content/libs/include.js:301"

    This started happening after an automatic update to FF. I stop the script and FF opens. I've also lost the Roboform toolbar.

    Install Roboform v7.5.0 for Firefox 7 compatibility.
    That script message is related to an AVG add-on, or an add-on which is using code from an AVG add-on. <br />

  • Using calc script function when setting substitution variable value

    I would like to be able to execute the below, but this wont work since it is a combination of MaxL and calc script syntax:
    alter database 'App'.'DB' set variable 'Var1' @PARENT("Day 1");
    The following does not work either for the same reason:
    set A = @PARENT("Day 1");
    echo $A;
    alter database 'App'.'DB' set variable 'Var1' $A;
    Is there a correct way to do the above, and is it even possible? Or will the variable literally have to contain the value "@PARENT("Day 1")" to be later parsed in a calc script?

    Hi James. I was hoping that 'query database' with the 'member info' option was going to include the parent in the result set, but it's just a bunch of storage / consolidation properties so no luck there.
    The only idea i could come up with (and this is getting pretty clunky) would be to use MaxL to execute a report script (or MDX query, but the output would be different and probably harder to parse):
    //ESS_LOCALE English_UnitedStates.Latin1@Binary
    {SUPHEADING}
    {TABDELIMIT}
    <ROW("YourDimension")
    <PARENT &YourSubVar
    !This spits out a tab delimited file containing just one line - the name of the parent of the member named in &YourSubVar, and one data value, tab delimited. You could then parse the output in cmd (I'm assuming you're on Windows) using FOR /F to grab the first value and then pass it back in to a subsequent MaxL command to update the value of the second subvar (as referenced in your fix).
