Stop timeline exactly where it is

I need help with stopping the timeline and audio exactly
where it is when my pause button is pressed. The pause changes to a
play button which on release I want to pick up from exactly where
it is on the timeline and in the audio. Can this be done?? Would it
be a function for when the button is pressed? I'm fairly good with
general scripting, but I didn't know if this could be done or if it
was something really advanced. If anyone could help me I would
greatly appreciate it. Thanks for you time and guidance.

layerburn,

Cool. Glad that helped.
> However, how would i refterence my pause_btn if it is
nested
> in a movie clip called pauseNplay??
You could either make pauseNplay a "button," even though
it's a movie
clip. Note in the "MovieClip class" entry of the ActionScript
2.0 Language
Reference that movie clips support many of the same events as
the Button
class. (Classes define objects in ActionScript, and they
serve as terrific
Owner's Manuals for the object in question. See the "First
Time Here?" link
on my blog for what I hope are some helpful articles.)
Or ... you could simply path to it. Rather than ...
pause_btn.onRelease = function() { ... }
... it sounds to me like this might be ...
pauseNplay.pause_btn.onRelease = function() { ... }
Objects paths are a lot like folder paths on your hard
drive.
> Also I was curious about pausing the actual timeline
exactly
> where it is. That part I haven't figured out yet.
For that, you simply need the MovieClip.play() and
MovieClip.stop()
methods -- you'll see those in the MovieClip class, as well.
Even the main
timeline is a movie clip, so those work there, too. Just add
another line
inside your button handler ...
pauseNplay.pause_btn.onRelease = function() {
dynamic_sound.start(dynamic_sound.position / 1000);
this._parent._parent.play();
Keep in mind, I just made up this._parent._parent, because I
have no
idea where your main timeline is in relation to this button.
Both buttons
and movie clips have a _parent property that points to the
object that
contains them. this._parent._parent might just point to your
main timeline,
if pauseNplay is located there. Pathing makes sense once you
wrap your head
around it.
> I have the pause timeline code that uses an interval to
count off so
> many seconds, but how do I script it to acknowledge the
pause
> and subtract the time that has already been counted to
resume and
> finish the count to continue on??
The getTimer() function tells you how many milliseconds have
passed
since the movie began. When you go into pause mode, you could
store the
current value of getTimer() in a variable, then retrieve that
number and
peform math on it to make decisions in the future.
It sounds like you might benefit from picking apart each of
these pieces
and mastering them on their own. When you have solid footing,
it helps make
sense of them when you combine them in (possibly) complex
ways.

    It is a known issue and un-conventional remedy.
    It is Hardware failure. I would get the iPhone changed for a good one.

    I lost my iPad 3, using location services and know exactly where there device at.  I called police, they show up at that house, owner denied he doesn't have it.  I even show officers on my iPhone where the missing iPad at and send message, face time, etc.  But officers said owner don't let's they go inside the house, they can't help me to recover it???!!!
    Are officers doing enough or they didn't do it enough to help me recover my missing iPad?
    Thanks...

    I don't think Apple's Find My [xxx] has been legally tested as constituing probable cause to issue a search warrant by the DA, so the cops can't go in without an invite. You'll need a good lawyer to go in and force new jurisprudence to occur. By which time, the iGadget will be long gone from the place.

    If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
    Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
    Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Is there some up-to-date BB-authorized page that tells you exactly where you can officially purchase a new BB device?

    Good evening Device Support Forum.
    I am trying to purchase a Q5 from an authorized carrier in Canada (ON, Canada). I don't have 5 years to devote to trying to correlate where I can buy the BB device that I want.
    I tried hitting up: http://ca.blackberry.com/smartphones however the information is sadly not up-to-date.
    This is my third attempt at trying to purchase a BlackBerry. It's getting tedious.
    My question: (same as the Subject line) is:
    Q> Is there some url that tells me exactly where I can officially purchase a new BB device?
    1. I don't want a refurbished BlackBerry device that is being pawned off as a new BlackBerry device where I am asked to pay the price of a new BlackBerry device.
    2. I don't want a BlackBerry device that does not come with a service warranty.
    3. I do want a fresh BlackBerry device that comes with a carrier service warranty.
    I would have liked to purchase a Q5 - it seems an impossible task since an official device doesn't seem to exist here in Ontario.
    Note: Choosing the Q5 only because it is lighter to hold.
    Before anyone suggests:
    - I would have preferred the BB Classic but it's not possible to try one here.
    - The Z30 is too heavy.
    - Tried the Passport and it's heavy and too complex to navigate.
    Upfront thanks for your time and any leads,
    TreenaL

    Here is my view. You always start with the carrier. What is best for you where you live, work, and play?
    If you are set on buying the device from the carrier, then hopefully they sell BlackBerry, and sell the model you want. That was no longer the case for me, which led me to buy unlocked, unbranded (from Shop BlackBerry).
    It doesn't take a huge investment in time to figure out what models (or sub-models) will work on your carrier. Google is your friend. Someone, in fact several people will have already done this for you.
    As far as warranty, in almost all instances with Blackberry the warranty is handled by the seller. See http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Welcome-Introductions/How-Formal-Support-Works/td-p/2540533

  • How to stop timeline's automatic movement?

    Hi! I am trying out Premiere Pro CC on the mac. I have a serious problem with the timeline. If I zoom in, it automatically starts to move as I hit play. So its not the vertical line that moves, but the timeline. Is there a way to turn this off? It is very annoying as when I edit I normally click on the upper line to set the vertical line's position, hit play, stop, click again until I find where I want to make the edit. But if the timeline moves away, I have to find the edit point again. I really would like to be able to turn this feature off before I start subscribing to the software. many thanks for your help, István

    Preferences>General>Timeline Playback Auto Scrolling>No Scroll or Page Scroll.
    I'm guessing you have it set to Smooth Scroll.

  • Recording stops at exactly 33:16

    So I am recording my demo set from a DJ mixer on Garage Band connected through iMic interface. Everything is going smoothly except at exactly 33:16, the program stops recording. No warning, no nothing, it just stops at 33:16. This happened twice already so I know it's gonna happen the 3rd time unless I figure out why.
    BTW, I am running a powerbook with 1.33 Ghz 768MB of RAM and 40 Gig HD(30 left). Any guesses to why this happening? Is it because the program is not meant to record pass a certain length of time? Should I get another recording program?

    Is it because the program is not meant to
    record pass a certain length of time?
    Yes (kind of)

  • Flash CS6 as3 Navigate to URL stops timeline animation!

    Hello
    I'm hoping someone can help me out! I'm quite new to flash but slowly getting the hang of it. I'm trying to make an interactive banner using jpegs converted to buttons etc with type, all animated. I've got separate layers for everything including mask layers and actions. I just want to navigate on a top layer which is invisible to take the user to a new URL. Everything is working great until I put more than one URL link in the code, as soon as I do the whole banner animation stops!!
    If someone could suggest a few ideas it would be much appreciated as I'm all out?!
    Many thanks,
    here's the code:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btn1Click_1);
    btn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btn2Click_2);
    function btn1Click_1(event: MouseEvent): void
      navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.google.com"), "_self");
    function btn2Click_2(event:MouseEvent):void
      navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.youtube.com"), "_self");
    addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, mo);
    function mo (event:MouseEvent):void
    event.currentTarget.stop();
    function mo2 (event:MouseEvent):void
    event.currentTarget.play();
    } addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, mo2);

    Thanks Ned and moccamaximum for the replies.
    The last bit of code does apply to the whole timeline as it stops the animation with a Mouse Over/Roll Over. Taking this away has no effect on the animation in the timeline. The only thing that seems to stop the timeline animation is the second button URL request!
    btn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btn2Click_2);
    and:
    function btn2Click_2(event:MouseEvent):void
      navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.youtube.com"), "_self");
    Works perfectly without this command. I don't get it!

  • HT1947 Exactly where on the iTunes 11.04 display is the "remote button"?

    In iTunes 11.04, where exactly onthe screen is the "remote button" one needs to push to pair iTunes with an Android control device?

    Oy!!! I am looking at "Use the Remote app to control your iTunes Library"  from the iTunes Help Center.If you
    open this, then drop down and click on "Pair Remote with an iTunes library", it will show four steps, #3 of which tells you to "Open iTunes on your computer and click the Remote button" and shows a symbol like a "play" button. My Samsung does steps 1 and 2 just fine, shows me the four digit code and invites me to type it into iTunes. THIS WORKED AT HOME! So where did the "Remote button" go? As Anna Russell says when she tells Wagner story lines, "I'm not making this stuff up!"
    Samsung Help gets you to the same place; hit the Remote buttton in iTunes and type in the 4 Digit code.

  • Exactly where are the files stored when imported off a camera into iPhoto ?

    see subject line,,,, but when i use iphoto's ''iphoto'' to import files off a camera versus the ''image capture'' they do not appear anywhere in the picture folder, this does not make sense,,,image capture seems to dumb the files into the picture folder
    and,,,,,i understand what iPhoto 08 does with the files that are imported into the library from the picture folder but where are iphotos library versions stored?????
    also,,,,,i'm putting time and effort into organizing a ''''library'''' only to have none of those efforts taking effect on the folders and files in the picture folder - this seems odd this is like organizing a 2 sets of books in a library == 1 set you want the public to see and one set you what to keep organized in the basement for future storage and retrival and from duplication
    i need convincing this makes sense and help on a better system

    alba123
    You're confusing iPhoto with an File Manager. The Mac has one of those, it's called the Finder
    When you organise things into albums and slideshows etc in the iPhoto Window there is no corresponding folders of images for each album. That would be a waste of disk space. Instead, each album is a virtual entity: in reality, a list of pics that you want to app to display together. So, no, you're not organising two sets of books, what you're doing is arranging the photos as you want them to be displayed while your assistant (the app) is looking after the files.
    Events, however, are not virtual. Events in the iPhoto Window correspond exactly with the Folders in the Originals Folder in the iPhoto Library package file (Right click on it in the Pictures Folder -> Show Package Contents).
    You can move photos between Events, you can rename Events, edit them, create them, as long as you do it via the iPhoto Window. Check out the Info Pane (wee 'i', lower left) the name and date fields are editable. Edit a Event Name using the Info Pane, the Event Folder in iPhoto Library/Originals will also have the new name.
    There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
    So, think of it this way. You do your organising in the iPhoto Window. Let the application look after the basement.

  • IPod in iPhone stops after exactly 1min 15secs

    When I go to the iPod function in my iPhone and select a song or video to play, it will play exactly 1 minute and 15 seconds of the selected item and then it will go back to the main iPhone screen. I have tried restarting my iPhone and I have also tried removing all of my music and then re-syncing with iTunes. I figured I would try here before I took it to the Apple store, just in case anyone else has encountered the same problem and possibly knows of a way to fix it. Thanks in advance.

    As much as it would suck if it were true, I may have an idea what the problem could be...
    You know how the iphone 3G has the special headset capability where you can play/pause, & skip or go back a track with various clicks of the button on the heatset? I can't help but wonder if using a headset or cable that just happens to be ever so slightly off, might be causing the iphone to register that a click was made, or several.
    I had the problem tonight again while washing dishes and it was connected to my parents little under the cupboard radio thing that happens to have an aux in. Numerous times it would pause in mid-song, and at one point it even skipped a track, which made me wonder if it's somehow registering input of some sort.
    Now I don't think I've had a problem since I got my Skullcandy headphones, and paying $90 for a set of headphones just to avoid the problem isn't really realistic for everyone to do...
    Just wondering though, has anybody that's had this issue been having it with the stock iphone headphones (with built-in mic)?
    in fact, the more that i think about it, the more i'm willing to bet that's the issue... other headphones might be even half a mm off in measurement, which may cause a problem of it hitting the internal part that controls playback/mic

  • So exactly *where* do I put my GIF?

    Hi Folks,
    Ignorning any rude replies to the Subject line (:-), if I
    have (say) a new background GIF that I wish to use with
    Forms 9i I can change the formsweb.cfg file to name this
    new file (errr, do I include the ".gif" suffix or not?) but
    then I'm lost as to where I ought to store the file so
    that it is picked up by 9iDS (not 9iAS).
    There are plenty of words of "Oh, just archive it in a JAR
    file" but I don't want to do that. So where exactly is
    "documentbase" then?
    Also, are there any dimension limitations on the gif that
    replaces the "logo"? Could this be the reason that these
    do not show at all?
    Finally, when trying to debug this problem, where do I
    actually look for any messages such as "File xyz.gif not
    found". Is there some error log file tucked away into
    an obscure corner that I am not aware of?
    I must vent my frustration with the documentation on
    this area being inadequate - I am annoyedat having to
    explore all possibilities because (once again) Oracle
    seem remiss at explaining the actual steps to get such
    a trivial area working.
    Your kind replies anticipated - thanks in advance
    Mungo Henning
    P.S. Searching my 9iDS folder for "oracle.gif" I count
    sixteen separate copies of this file. Can anyone beat
    this?? ;-)

    Apologies for the months delay in responding, but...

    to Deploy Icons"Aaah... two peoples separated by a common language.
    In my books an "icon" is a tiny graphic.
    A GIF file might be of any size.

    I also see that if you do a google search on +"oracle
    Forms" +icons the send hit is:
    "This paper explores various options of deploying
    icons in Oracle9i Forms "In fact, if we are citing "google", go to that place and
    type in the query (without the quotes): "define:icon"
    and its top reply starts with "A small graphic symbol...".
    So I still maintain that it is not reasonable to have to
    search for a somewhat-related word such as "icon" in
    the documentation when the item in question doesn't
    exactly fit the bill.
    Data that is practically inaccessible might as well not
    be there in the first place.
    Perhaps we need a new categorisation of documentation so
    that we can find out separate things such as
    "Give me an overview of this area"
    compared to "Let me know the plusses and minuses"
    compared to "Tell me how to go about implementing this"?
    There may be more categories than this, and there is
    probably much research out there waiting for me to
    find it.
    In-the-know developers (and I was one myself many moons
    ago) seem to flit from information types on a whim.
    Or worse, they treat important information as already
    having been given.
