Stopping a Progress Bar when a page has loaded.

I currently have an application that uses a linkbar with a viewstack.  If I click on a particular link, a component mxml page with an advanced datagrid is loaded.  However, the datagrid can take up to 10 seconds to load.   So, I need to implement a progress bar that will run until the page is completely loaded/ painted.   What phase and or event should I use to capture this.

I added your Preloader AS class and called the preloader from my application class and recieved an error can the preloader only be used in the Application class.
Start Class ( there is a destPath associated with this and that is why you don't see any other code. A .swf file is loadded):

The page load progress bar that was on the lower right of the window is no longer there. After updating to the latest version of Firefox on my Mac there is no progress bar for the page load. I really miss this feature and can't seem to find a way to obtain it. The tab has a circular progress wheel but this is useless for determining a stuck or slow loading page.
PLEASE NOTE: I am typing this in from a Windows based work computer but am asking about my Apple MacBook Pro that i use at home.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:

  • How do I stop a query from running when the page is loaded

    Hi All,
I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4. I have a JSPX page that is used to collect search parameters and then when a button is clicked uses those values to run a query and then populate a table on the same page. The problem is that when the page is loaded the system attempts to run the query. The query is a method in a session bean. I can keep the method from running the query code by wrapping it in an 'if' statement and checking the parameters for null (or other value). Once the parameters are collected the query is invoked but it looks like the method is running twice, once with the parameters (here I've checked that the result actually has rows in the list) and then again where the parameters are null and the method returns null.
What is the best way to do what I want here? From the buttons action method I am called the session beam method and returning null to stay on the same page. I think that is why the method is running the second time and returning null.
    TIA,
    Dave

  • No progress bar when embedding/viewing QT movie.

    Hi everyone,
I am having an issue I've not had before.
I have setup a web page with HTML to embed a Quicktime 7 movie file (exported as a download, not as streaming since my web host doesnt support QT streaming).
With previous versions of QT I recall seeing a progress bar while the .mov would load. However this time the user is ONLY presented with the Quicktime logo, without any hint as to how much is left to download.
Is this a problem with the new version? How can I have the page so that the user sees the progress as it downloads (controller instead of just the "Q" logo)?
    Thanks in advance.

The html code must be correct for a file to "autoplay" but the file must also be saved to "Fast Start".
If you made any edits to a previously saved fast start file you may have "broken" the fast start feature. It can be repaired by using the "Save As" menu using QuickTime Pro.

Direct linking to a QT file is bad form. You should use the proper html code to insure proper playback.

  • How do I invoke an ActionListener on a page when the page initially loads?

How do I invoke an ActionListener on a page when the page initially loads?
Page 1: A user clicks on a h:commandButton and is navigated to Page 2.
Page 2: When the page loads and goes through RESTORE_VIEW, APPLY_REQUESTS and RENDER_RESPONSE, I need to call an ActionListener in the managed bean for Page 2.
However, if the user comes in from any other page than Page 1, the ActionListener cannot be invoked intially when the page loads. The user has a choice to click on the h:commandButton on Page2 to invoke the ActionListener.
What is an example of invoking a method with the ActionListener signature in Java code?
Where would I put the code to invoke the ActionListener, in a beforePhase or afterPhase, constructor?
    Thanks,

Interesting. You're right. It doesn't happen when I click away from this site and then return. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree. Maybe it's the specific website I was thinking of and not Firefox. Unfortunately, I have to use that site all the time for work. I'll try contacting their webmaster. Thanks for your help.

  • In version 3.x.x I used to be able to type search terms into the address bar and the page would load, similar to Google's "Feeling Lucky" button. Now it just brings up a Google search for the terms I typed in. How can I get this time saving feature back?

The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''keyword.URL''', double-click on it and change its value to the link shown below

If you prefer, you can also do this by installing the Browse by Name extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/browse-by-name

  • The webpage declined to show this webpage when WebPart Page is loaded

I have a webpart page when I try to open that page I'm getting. The webpage declined to show this webpage. It loaded when the part was added to the page first time. But when I redeployed the WSP I'm getting this error.
    Please help me in this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mathi.
    With Regards, Mathi.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that the webpage declined to show this webpage when WebPart Page was loaded.
The problem was within the web part page. A web part was causing the page to 403. Some configuration to the web part had made the web part no longer permissible to show to the user. Instead of just not showing the web part, SharePoint declines to show the
    web part page.
To resolve the problem, go to the Web Part Page Maintenance page for the page that is giving the 403 error:
    http://ServerName/SiteName/_layouts/spcontnt.aspx?&url=%2fSiteName%2fPages%2fPageName.aspx
One by one disable the web parts. One of them is the problem. When it is disabled, the page will display properly to the user.
You’d better to delete the web part and re-add it.
There is an article for your reference, although it is about the SharePoint 2007, it still works for SharePoint 2010.

  • Progress bar when loading page (%)

Hello. I have done an extensive search on this forum but I haven't been able to find exactly how to do this. I want to put one of those progress bars that show the percentage of how the load of the present page is coming along, and how far away from completion it is. For example you click on a page on a site and the page in question takes 45 seconds to 1 minute to load. In that time while the load is taking place the end user sees a progress bar that tells him(her) that the load is 15% along, 10 seconds later it's 25% complete, etc.
There are a couple of pages on a site I built with iWeb that have either a blank or black screen where nothing at all happens until the page is completely loaded. Depending on the browser and the computer this could take between 15 seconds to a couple of minutes. If I have this progress bar then the user can see how far away the load is and decide if they want to wait or not.
I am aware most every browser has this functionality built in. However I am watching out for many of the end users who are not aware of this or where in their browser to look and see how the page load is coming along. I am guessing it's some sort of Java script or HTML Snippet or something like that.
    Thank you for your help.

The average surfer will wait 7 seconds for your page to download. Its up to you to make this happen.
Make sure you keep your pages fairly simple and don't overload them with content.
Optimize your photos, compress your movies and load your audio files as MP3 - preferably using a flash player.
Upload to a server other than MobileMe and optimize your files before upload ...
    http://www.tonbrand.nl/
Doing all this will also give your website a chance to load in Internet Explorer.

  • No Progress Bar when importing from Camera

I just updated to iLife 06, and I noticed when I was importing new photo's into iPhoto 6, that the progress bar does not move. The photo's import fine, but I have no idea of the approximate time it will take, since the progress bar never shows up.
Has anyone else seen this? Is there any pref files I can clean out to see if I can get this feature back?
Thanks, and sorry if this has been discussed, but I could not find anything when searching the forums for this issue.
    - Bruce

Well, I just imported 10 photo's and the progress bar worked. My previous import where the progress bar did not work, had 125 photo's, with two of them locked. I have removed the locked photo's, and removed the regular photo's, and now the progress bar works. I do not know if it was because there was 125 photo's or if it was because I had a few locked photo's, but now it seems to be working.
I will test things out by locking some more photo's and seeing if the progress bar shows up when I import. I also chose to delete the original photo's after importing them.
Has anyone else imported a lot of pictures, and had a few locked on the camera, and noticed if the progress bar works or not?

  • Is it possible to force Firefox to load a url in a tab when opening a new page (before the page has loaded)?

Recently when using a rather unreliable internet connection I'm often get dropped connections that prevent pages from loading.
In the past this used to result in an "Unable to connect to server page" when the timeout happened, which was fine as I could just refresh the page.
These days however the page is timing out when the page is still on the about:blank stage (or stuck on the current page), before the url has been updated, so I'm losing the address.
Is there any way to force firefox to update the url as soon as the page load request is made, as opposed to when it recieves a response from the server (which is how it seems to work at the moment)?

If you click a link then Firefox may only be showing the URL on the location bar if at least there is a connection to the server.
If you are on Linux then it should take minutes before the connection times out, at least that is what I see (on Windows it is only 20 seconds). This might be different in case the connection drops.
There should be a try again button of the net error page to reload this link.
Don't you see such a button?
You can start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • How do stop the progress bar disappearing during sync?

When I'm syncing my iPod Classic to my iTunes I will see a progress bar at the top of iTunes showing how far it has progressed and text letting me know which track of how many I'm on.  But this information will only appear for a second or two before being replaced by the text: "Synching iPod Do Not Disconnect".  The warning will remain visible for aproximately two minutes.  How do I change it so that the progress bar remains visible constantly and the warning does not appear?  Failing that how do I change it so that the information I wish to see remains on screen longer and the warning appears only briefly?

  • Knowing when a page has finished loading

    Hi all,
I've  produced  a small project that has  a  few tabs, each tab contains an IFrame UI, which loads a BW report.
I've been asked to  add an indicator that should tell when the reports are finished loading.
    I have two problems:
    1. How  do I know when the frame has finished loading the url? I know I can use the OnLoad tag in html, but how can I edit the HTML WebDynpro produce?
    2. What kind of indicator can I use? I thought of two options - Putting the "Progress Clock" which WebDynpro uses when calling an RFC, and for that I need to know if it's even possible  to call that clock.
The 2nd option I thought  of is using the ProgressIndicator UI, and just divide the 100% to the number of tabs, and change the percent value when each tab  has  finished loading the URL.
I appreciate any help  that  you  could provide.
    Yaniv

Armin Reichert -> I've tried what you suggested about the portal integration (I send parameter to an URL Iview, which changes the url), and it works great!
    Thanks.
Noufal Kareem -> Because I use an IFrame UI which loads a BW report, I don't have an indication (The WD don't know / care if the page inside the frame was loaded.)

  • Progress bar when restoring

    Hello,
When I try to restore my Ipod touch 2nd gen, it gets to the screen with the apple logo and the progress bar. The progress bar moves about two clicks and then it just sits there. When I pick up the Ipod after about 5 minutes, it's very hot. I don't want to leave it plugged in too long because I don't want it to fry. Has anyone had this problem?

I'm having the exact same problem now after downloading the software update 3.0. I've restored, I've tried sleep & home together. Nothing seems to be working.
