Stopping Managed Server took hours

Hi all,
I have an issue stopping the one of our managed servers (say MNG_SVR_1). It took almost 5 hrs to stop. There was no issue stopping another managed server.
In the managed server logs, I could see the following messages;
>

I didn't have such issues previously. So, I am seeking some experts' advices on what went wrong.
Thanks in advance,

How was the managed server tried to be brought down. Forceful or Graceful? In case of a graceful shutdown, the managed server would be brought down only after all the active requests are processed and completed. Moreover, there's something unusual that is seen in the logs that you pasted. Is some application component deployed on only one managed server of the cluster as the logs suggest??Few logs lines previous and after to the one that you have pasted would be giving more pointers...

  • Stop managed server without node manager and admin server

What are the commonly used ways to stop managed Weblogic server without node manager running and without administration server running?
(I have only one solution: on the managed server startup dump process ID to a file, and then when I want to stop it, send a signal to this process ID and kill JVM. But it seems not very clean way.)
(The managed server is started when both node manager and admin server are down, and I provide boot.properties of admin server to the managed server to start.)
UPDATED: And I don't want to start neither admin server, nor node manager even temporarily.

    Hai,
I read the Oracle weblogic wlst script document without Admin server you cannot connect the managed server through the WLST script. see the below lines
"The start command starts Managed Servers or clusters in a domain using Node Manager.
To use the start command, WLST must be connected to a running Administration Server.
To start Managed Servers without requiring a running Administration Server, use the
nmStart command with WLST connected to Node Manager."
"You shut down a server to which WLST is connected by entering the shutdown command
    without any arguments.
When connected to a Managed Server instance, you only use the shutdown command to shut
down the Managed Server instance to which WLST is connected; you cannot shut down another
server while connected to a Managed Server instance.
WLST uses Node Manager to shut down a Managed Server. When shutting down a Managed
Server, Node Manager must be running.
In the event of an error, the command returns"
They are two option if you are using adminserver then we can stop the any Managed server.
The option is if you are using the nodemanager without admin server we can stop the any Managed server.
The last final solution to kill the particular Managed server pid.

I would use the console and release the edit lock to see if that clears
    up the problem.

  • Stopping Managed servers in 10.3

We are testing a couple of scenarios by having various cases
case1:Start Managed Server when the admin server is Running(passed)
case2:Stop Managed Server when the Admin Server is Running(passed)
case3:Start Managed Server when the Admin is not Available (passed)
case4:Stop Managed Server When the Admin is not available(falied)
the case 4 seems to never pass until we have to find the PID and Kill server which cannot be trapped in the log files,
we have been using the stopMangedWeblogic.sh ManagedServerName adminurl to stop, but it says the SERVER is already in SHUTDOWN state when it is still shutdown,
Can anyone let me know what is this problem, where I am trying to Shutdown the Managed Server when the Admin is not available

Yeah Here are the Thread Dumps Which I took during the shutting down process these are the Threads Blocked , in all the thread Thumps its Similar

  • Problem while starting the managed server

    Hi
    We have following configuration :-
We have 2 physical sesrvers :-
Server1 and Server2 in Sun Cluster running Solaris 10.
We also have Oracle DB server 9.2.0.8 in RAC mode, one instance each on Server1 & Server2.
    Server 1 :-
    cluster1 :- 1 Managed Server running
    Server 2 :-
    cluster2 :- 1 Managed Server running
we are getting following error in admin server log :-
<Error> <NodeManager> <BEA-300034> <Could not execute command "kill" for server "cluster1" using the node manager. Reason: Connection refused. Couldn't connect to NodeManager. Check that it is running at localhost:5556.>
Recently we have enabled the Connection Filter.
also getting following info in logs :-
    <Notice> <Socket> <BEA-000445> <Connection rejected, filter blocked Socket[addr=192.193.164.8,port=53666,localport=8001], weblogic.security.net.FilterException: [Security:090220]rule 16>
    <Notice> <Socket> <BEA-000445> <Connection rejected, filter blocked Socket[addr=163.37.174.126,port=58284,localport=8002], weblogic.security.net.FilterException: [Security:090220]rule 17>
Is it because of any misconfiguration in Connection filter ?
Or filter is not allowing the request for ipaddress and port of Managed Server in cluster1
    Thanks in advance .. :)

    Thanks for the information.
    Node Manager is not used.
I found problem in Connection filter.
    169.187.186.76 - address ManagedServer1
    169.187.186.77- address Managed server2
169.187.186.51 :- Admin Server (8001 is http and 8002 is https)
Tunneling is enable for Managed Server
Please help me understanding below things is there any ambiguity in this rules :-
In the script to stop Managed server we are using t3 protocol like : t3://ip:port but its not allowing t3 protocol .whereas t3 protocol is no where denied in rules.
If I use https to issue request still not working

  • Weblogic Installation gets managed server of old installation

Hi. In my CentOS I had a weblogic 10.3.3.0 with three managed servers, then I unistalled it, delete the folder of installation manually for the files that the uninstaller didn't erase and then I installed again weblogic (jdevstudio11113install.bin) with new managed servers and when I want to start them up it tells me that it doesn't exist that the only ones that exist are the old ones I had in the previous installation. So I assume they are in a hidden file that I had to remove or update with new managed servers, which sounds strange because that should be deleted during uninstall process. Anyway any hint would be highly appreciated. Greetings.

From what I understand about your problem you have a domain - Admin server running on one physical machine and Managed server running on another physical machine, when stopping the Managed server its getting hung at suspending state, which in turn is causing Admin server slow down in response or hang.
Please confirm on this how are you stopping and starting your managed server
make sure that you do not use localhost when creating domains which spread across more than one physical machine.
Make sure that your Adminserver & Managed server have address as hostname's of physical server instead of Localhost
You should be starting / stopping Managed server something like this
              startManagedWeblogic.sh -url t3://AdminserverHostName:PortNo <servername>
              stopManagedWeblogic.sh -url t3://AdminserverHostName:PortNo <servername>
Let me know if you still have the problem.

  • Start managed server with the node manager???

    Hello,
I have one admin server and one managed server for my domain. Can i Start the amdin and managed server from the node manager and not just the admin server. Currently with the install of node manager only the admin server starts and not the managed server. I need to log in to the admin server to start my managed server which is very cumbersome.
    Edited by: user9021545 on Mar 11, 2011 1:58 PM

    hi,
In order to start Managed server from the console itself, then u have to enroll your node manager.
    Step1). Start the AdminServer...using startScript "startWebLogic.sh/cmd"
step2)start ur node manager using stat node manager scripts,
step3)Login to adminConsole and then see the NodeManager is Reachable or not
    If reachanble
    then run "setWLSEnv.sh/cmd".
    Then run wlst.sh file
    Step3)connect('weblogic','weblogic','t3://localhost:7001')
    Step4)nmEnroll('C:/bea103/user_projects/domains/7001_Domain','C:/bea103/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager')
After this u will be able to start and stop managed server from console itself
Note:even after dis your managed server doesnt starts then please check under <DOMAIN_ROOT>\servers\<SERVER_NAME> whether you have a folder name as security and inside it whether you have file called as boot.properties
if no then follow these below steps
Please create a directory "security" inside your
    <DOMAIN_ROOT>\servers\<SERVER_NAME>
    inside "<DOMAIN_ROOT>\servers\<SERVER_NAME>\security" ( Example Location:
    WLS103/user_projects/domains/Test_Domain/servers/AdminServer/security )
directory create a file with exactly same name as "boot.properties" and with
    following 2 lines inside it:
    username=weblogic
    password=weblogic
NOTE: Here "weblogic" is the Administrator username & password...
if you want dont want to run Admin server from foreground then try runnin it as a background process

  • Problem with JMS migration when using Ctrl+C to stop the managed server in cluster

              Hi,
I am having a clustered weblogic application running on Weblogic 7.0 SP5. My application
uses JMS as a asynchrous communication. We have MDB which listens to these JMS
              messages.
If something is being processed on Managed Server 1 and while the request is in
process, i am stopping the the MAnaged SErver 1 using Ctrl+C.
After this, i go to admin console and migrate teh JTA and JMS. After this, i am
expecting other running Managed Server should restart the incomplete transaction.
But this is not happening. The Managed Serve2 doesn't process the requst.
But when i restart teh MAnaged SErver 1 again, it takes up the same request and
              processes it.
Is this a known problem with Weblogic that it doesn't support Ctlr+C case?
Please note that the same thing is working fine when i stop the server using Admin
              console(Normal shutdown OR forced shutdown).
Any comments in this regards are apprecciated.
              Thanks,

  • How to stop and start Managed Server using weblogicServer

    Hi
    We are new.
We have 2 managed servers and an Admin Server.
We're trying to use the command line to stop/start our Managed Server.
Could someone share examples on how one could write the command line that's similar to the WLS console Server Start tab ?
    We have a couple of classpaths and a bunch a arguments;
When we tried to start one of the managed server it defaults to use some other settings as opposed to the ones in Server Start tab.
What did we do wrong ?
    Thanks

  • Clustered enviroments -Starting/Stopping Managed servers, NodeManager & Admin server from single node

    Hi,
We have 5 node Weblogic cluster. At the time of some mass activities like patching we have to stop all our managed, Admin Servers and node manager and it takes a lot of time to do this by logging in to all 5 managed servers and stopping all components. Though we have node manager configured so we can stop managed servers from console itself, but still have to login to each server to stop NodeManager and Oracle Http Servers.
Things become worse when wee have to shutdown almost 15-20 instances.
Is there a way (using wlst or shell script) that we can do all these tasks from by logging in to just one server?
    Thanks,
    Suraj

The simple code below would shutdown all the running Servers. Some of the APIs for ex MBeanHome are deprecated..still work though..if your concerned about that..I am working on the same using JMX API..if you want I could share that too. And also as described in the below link..you can Cluster stop and start using WLST commands.  Managing the Server Life Cycle - 12c Release 1 (12.1.1)

  • Root management server stops alerting frequently

    Hi All,
I have a Root management server running SCOM 2007 R2 CU4. All the roles are in the same RMS server (RMS, SQL, Webconsole).
Suddenly once in a day our alerting stops and even after we see the scom services are running and the management server is in a healthy state. We restart the services SDK, Healthservice, System center management configuration. Still we do not get the alerts.
We need to fully reboot the RMS and it works fine in a day. Same issue continues and we reboot it once in a day.
Any idea what is the issue. We cannot afford rebooting this daily.
We had installed few security patches on the RMS. We got them uninstalled but still the same issue.
Analysed the event logs and found few logs.
