How much storage space does OS take out of the box on a 16G model?

A little computer class. There are two kinds of memory in computers, storage and what's called RAM, for random access memory. One is where things on the computer actually run from (RAM) and the other is for storage of your data (usually a hard drive, but on the iPad, flash memory). They are two distinct kinds of memory and occupy very different areas of the computer. The iPad comes with a very small 256K of RAM. Most desktops and laptops today have at least 2 gigabytes of RAM, which is a few thousand times as much. A good chunk of that must hold the actual operating system, or OS- the thing that enables the whole shabang to work. The rest is reserved for the running of actual programs or Apps, as Apple calls them for the iPad and iPhone. So iPad apps must be rather compact in order to run in that small space of memory. That's why we don't yet have MS Word for the iPad (and won't for either quite some time or forever, I don't know).
OK, now with storage, some of that space is always taken over by the OS in order to actually manage the storage. But most of it remains as storage. So to answer your question, probably a few dozen megabytes. It also probably uses the flash storage memory as what's called virtual RAM. I think it must, as that's the only way it could run those really big apps that are always crashing unless you reboot first in order to clear all memory.
That's the long answer to a short question.

I am using Function Module : VC_I_GET_CONFIGURATION in FI related Sales Order Report to get
configuration data for fields Model/Engine and Line no.
when the program executed in Production environment, It is giving Runtime Error TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED.
ShrtText : No storage space available for extending an internal table.
The termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLIBINF" in "SELECT_INSTANCES_01" . its all happening
in the above FM.
Is there any possibility to get configuration data (Model/Engine and Line no) with out using FM.
please advise me on how you would like to proceed related to this issue.

Pls check my code and modify it so that i can load the data of 5,000,00 records

Hello Kumar,
The amount of data you can store in an internal table is limited by the width of the table together with the available memory on your machine. If you try to put too much data in your table you'll always get that problem.
As I see it you have a table RESULT_PACKAGE with some fields and based on the entries in that table you select one row out of another table.
You can easily use
Select
/BIC/ZIUTILICH /BIC/ZIRGRCH
/BIC/ZPRODUCT FROM
/BIC/AZDSO_HYD00
INTO TABLE e_t_result
FOR ALL ENTRIES in RESULT_PACKAGE
COMP_CODE = RESULT_PACKAGE-COMP_CODE AND
PROFIT_CTR = RESULT_PACKAGE-PROFIT_CTR .
That still doesn't solve your memory problem hence you should try to process the data in packages, because you obviously don't have enough memory to process all data at once.
You can add the following:
Select
/BIC/ZIUTILICH /BIC/ZIRGRCH
/BIC/ZPRODUCT FROM
/BIC/AZDSO_HYD00
INTO TABLE e_t_result
PACKAGE SIZE xxxx
FOR ALL ENTRIES in RESULT_PACKAGE
COMP_CODE = RESULT_PACKAGE-COMP_CODE AND
PROFIT_CTR = RESULT_PACKAGE-PROFIT_CTR .
PROCESS your data here
ENDSELECT.
You might also want to discuss the issue with your basis team if there is a way to get more memory if there is no way to do that process.

Hi All,
I have requirement in which my program generates a text file on my presentation server. Here my problem is, this requirement can not be executed in back ground, it should be done in foreground only. When I execute in foreground, if the data records comes to some 38 lacks then I am getting a short dump saying 'No more storage space available for extending an internal table'.
And in dump analysis under WHAT HAPPENED section it is giving as
' What happened?                                                                                |
|    You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was                         |
|    not available.
Please suggest me, what I have to do in this case?

Error Analysis given in the dump log :
The internal table "IT_862" could not be enlarged further.
To extend the internal table, 14656 bytes of storage space was

Hello.
Probably you fill the internal table with too much data and it cannot hold that much.
You can either redesign the program so that it processes the data in batches of, say 100000 records, or contact your BASIS team and ask for their help. They could possible assign more memory to the running applications.

In Web Ui while i was click save, it taking too much of time for saving at all lost it throwing dump such as "No more storage space available for extending an internal table". Recently Basis side did some activities for storing day to day transaction in back up server, after this activities i am getting this problem. i opening that Bsp component it throwing some information message such as component not integrated, i didn't see that message properly but i clicked continue button. After that basis activity only i got that information message once.
i dont know what is the issue. Can anyone give solution for this issue

Ask your basis guys to clean up the system memory. This is happening because no memory is left.

In Our system we are getting this dump
No more storage space available for extending an internal table
and because of it no user is able to login into the system.
We have Some classes in the system and we have defined shared memories to all classes according to regions.
So for a particular class means users of a region are not able to logon to systems and we are getting these dumps in the system.
So please suggest first how to clear the shared memory & how to conclude what activity in system made the shared memory full.

In dump it is also mentioned:

In function module - RSAR_TRFC_DATA_RECEIVED
During Data loading from ERP to BW client am getting an error in SM58 in ERP as ""No more storage space available for extending an internal Table "".
There is a dump in BW system   TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
"".I checked all the parameters for roll area,paging , etc..everything is fine. Also tried with packet size smaller ..still i am getting this error ..

If you are trying to download an app and get an error about not enough memory, it's talking about memory on your iPad, not in iCloud. I don't know what you mean by purchasing more storage space for your iPad, you can't add more memory to a device. You may have bought more memory in iCloud, but that's not going to fix your current problem. You need to delete songs or video, or some other large files from your iPad to make room for a new download.

I know USER_TABLESPACES help use to find table space wise. But I would like to know, the space utilized by each table in the specific table space.

5.5gb of "other" storage space used

All the sudden this morning I have 5.5gb of "other" storage space used. Is there any resolution to this? I'm going on a trip to Orlando, FL and not near my iTunes syncing pc.

ICloud storage space used up by old data from 1st gen iPad I traded in nearly 2 yrs ago for an iPad Mini. Can't backup any info for mini or new 6 plus. How can I access this old data to clear it out?

My iCoud storage space is being used up by old data from a 1st generation iPad I traded in nearly 2 yrs ago for an iPad Mini. The people at the sprint store where I made my trade were supposed to transfer everything over from my old iPad to the new Mini once they backed up the old device to iCloud. Well, long story short, none of the data ever got transferred to the new iPad, but it all got backed to iCloud, eating up all my storage space. Here I am almost 2 years later, and I've never been able to back-up my iPad mini. What's worse, My iPhone 4 wasn't backed up that whole time, and now I can't back-up my data from my new iPhone 6 Plus to iCloud either. Trying to find creative ways to store and save my information and data between all my devices is getting to be ridiculous. I don't want to upgrade my storage space though...just want to clear out a great deal of what is already being stored. How can I access this old data to clear it out?

The only way to access data from an iCloud backup is to restore it to your device. You could, for example, back up your iPad mini to your computer using iTunes (by connecting it, opening iTunes, then going to File>Devices>Back Up and choosing to back up apps and transfer purchases when prompted), then erase it and restore the old iPad backup (as explained here: iCloud: Restore or set up your iOS device from iCloud), save any recovered data you want to keep, then restore your iTunes backup back to your iPad mini (by connecting it to your computer, opening iTunes, then going to File>Devices>Restore from Backup).
Once you're done with the old backup, delete it from your account to free up the space.

2 Way mirror via Storage Spaces using 2xJBODS

Looking to setup 2xJBODS connected to a cluster File Servers & use 2-WAY mirror for the pool. Its clear that w. a 2way mirror that it can only handle 2 drives failing before seeing data loss but is that 2 drives between both JBODS or is that 2 driver
per JBOD? Also I know that if 1 JBOD were to completely go offline that I would need a total of 3 JBODS in order for vms,etc to not be affected but what is the expected behavior. A jbod goes offline and we lose vms but data is not loss? Once the jbod
comes back data will be back to normal?
