Store a file's ref in a FileMaker container

Hello
I am populating a FileMaker's database from numerous folders (more than 1000).
When I try to store in a field of type Container a file's pathname corresponding to a Picture, it works.
When the file's pathname correspond to a text file it fails.
How may I tell to FM that I want to insert a File, not a Picture ?
At this time the used instruction is:
set repetition j of cell "divers_1" of last record of it to fdj
where it is the database and fdj the file's alias I want to insert.
Thanks in advance.

Hello
It seems that I was not clear enough.
The script igrab a descriptor (in fact a class alias one) to a text file.
I want to insert it in a field of kind container.
Alas, I am unable to find the correct syntax.
The one passed in my late message works when the file is a Picture one.
How must I change it when the file is a text file?
Filemaker Pro 8.5 give the ability to insert:
Picture file, Quicktime file, Sound file and Files.
The container defaults to Picture.
I repeat, I have no problem to identify the file but I want to know how I may code the instruction to insert it.

  • How to store a file and refer it from another file using the Binary cache?

    Hello,
I think it's a long shot but I thought I will give it a try.
I am creating an excel file from an xml String using the Web Dynpro Binary cache.
The problem is that when columns with numbers are involved an extra #agg column is being added by the excel "flattener" which is in charge of rendering the excel file from the xml String.
The only way to override this excel feature is to supply your own XSLT and reference it from the XML. Now, since I am not using an actual filesystem but the Web Dynpro Binary cache, is it possible to use this cache in order to store there the xslt and refer it later from an XML?
    Roy

    Hi,
Just found out this.. See if you can make use of it..
getPublicCachedWebResource(byte[] webResource, WDWebResourceType resourceType, WDScopeType scopeType, WDDeployableObjectPart deployableObjectpart, String key)
<i>          returns a IWDCachedWebResource, <b>which is saved directly to the WDDeployableObject directory.</b></i>
you can make WDDeployableObject as your component and point the reference to the component folder.. Since you are specifying a scope type.. it shoukd be deleted after the scope defined...
    Lemme know if this works..:)

  • How to store any file in database using Forms? EVEN non OLE Compliant

I have to store and retrieve any file (not only image and OLE compatilble file) in the database and retrieve it later without using Forms and email it using java stored procedure. How do I do that?
I used OLE, but the problem with this is later when I retrieve it, some OLE specific control information is also retrieved, which means the data stored is not only pure data.
In the forms, I just want to give the file name and it should store that file into the database as we do with READ_IMAGE_FILE. Is there any way of achieving this?
    Thank you.

  • How to store ISO file at Windows azure Storage

    Hello,
I wants to know How various way store ISO file at Windows Azure (or by Content Management)so that i will be get available cross different location for use.
    Thanks
    Richa Km

    Hi  Richa,
If you want to store a ISO image file in Azure Storage ,I  suggest that you can try to use Azure Blob storage.
For Azure Blob storage is a service for storing large amounts of unstructured data, such as text or binary data, that can be accessed from anywhere in the world via
    HTTP or HTTPS.
So that you can store a common ISO file use the Azure Blob storage, and you can get it anytime or anywhere .
For more information about how to use Azure Blob storage ,please refer to the link below:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/storage-dotnet-how-to-use-blobs/
Then you can use Azure storage Explorer to store ISO image file ,please refer to the link below:
    https://azurestorageexplorer.codeplex.com/
You also can try the CloudBerry to store the ISO  image file, please refer to the link below:
    http://www.cloudberrylab.com/free-microsoft-azure-explorer.aspx

  • How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?

    Hi Guys,
Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.
Any Logic  or Code for how to do is welcomed.
                        plz help me urgently.
    Thanks,
    Gopi

    Hi,
directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!
Here you are code which I use to upload text files from local disc into application folder

  • I have an iMac with 2 internal drives and set-up with multiple user accounts.  How do I create a path to store data files on my second drive within an application?

I have an iMac with 2 internal drives and a multiple user account set-up.  Hw do I create a path to store data files on the second drive within an application?

This is the Mac mini forum not the iMac forum however...
Applications written for average users like Photoshop, Word, i.e. GUI based applications provide a 'Save' dialog box which while allow selecting second drives or any drive. The dialob box initially shown might be in the simple mode but you just need to click on the triangle to show the full set of options. You should then see the different drive names amongst other options.
If your referring to an application your writing yourself then you need to build a pathname. This can be in one of two styles depending on the programming system your using. This could be a POSIX style path or a Mac style path.
    POSIX = /Volumes/volname/foldername
    Mac style = Volname:foldername:

    Hi Jorg ,
Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.
If possible ,please share the snapshot of the error message with us so that we can have a look in order to assist you further.

  • My Mac Mail program no longer stores any files in my Sent folder.  When I try to send an e-mail it just spins.  What's up?

My Mac Mail program no longer stores any files in my Sent folder.  Moreover, the sent folder (off to the left) contains a highlighted "1" as if something is in there.
When I try to send an e-mail message, it simply spins.
This is new behavior for my Laptop of three years.  Usually, I have lots of messages in my Sent folder and can easily send e-mail.
I see no discussion forum for "Mail" or for "e-mail" so I raise this question here.
I would appreciate any help anyone might offer.
    Thanks.

Thank you for your reply.  Turns out, re-started my Macbook later and the problem disappeared.  Could this have helped?

  • HT201250 Can I back up with time machine AND store additional files on the same external drive?

I just bought an external drive to move and archive some files off my iMac to free up some space. I'm being asked if I want to use the drive to back up files with Time Machine. Can I use this drive to do both? (Back up with TM AND store other files?
    Your input is appreciated.

Technically you can but it is not a very good idea at all. The reason it is a flawed idea is if the HD fails (not really if but when) you will have defeated the whole idea of backup. A failure means you will lose the data files you stored on it and it's backup! A good backup plan has at least 2 forms of backup because backups can fail too. I would strongly recommend getting at least one additional external HD and use it for storing the data files you wanted off the internal HD and use the second for a Time Machine backup drive.
Personally I have 3 external HD's attached to my computer. Disk 1 is my Time Machine backup, Disk 2 is a Bootable Clone of my internal HD and Disk 3 stores my music, photography and movie libraries.
Please read these articles, they will discuss different backup strategies and I think you will see that each suggest redundant backups.
    Backup Plan I
    Backup Plan II
    Backup Plan III

    Yes.
And will it restore if the hd isn't even there? Like what if it got stolen or destroyed.
    Also yes.
Directly-connected external drives (ie, USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt) are not backed-up by default.  You must remove them from the exclusion list in Time Machine Preferences > Options to get them backed-up.  (Network drives cannot be backed-up.)
And they must be formatted for a Mac -- any variation of Mac OS Extended.
If the drive is connected, you can browse or restore normally -- just go to the folder or document in question and Enter Time Machine.
If the drive is not connected, it's a bit different.  See #E3 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

  • How to store the File Name from a Unix Directory into a ODI variable?

    Hi,
I have built a ODI package with the following steps:
    1. ODI is polling for a flat file in a Unix directory. I have used OdiFileWait tool for this purpose. Here the file name is not fixed, so I am using wild character (*) to poll for file. Example: DF*ABC1*.DAT where the first wild character denotes 1 letter and the second wild character denotes 2 digits.
    2. In the second step, if the file is found, I am moving the file to ODI file server path (../oracledi/demo/file). Here I have used ODIFileMove tool.
    3. Then I am using an ODI Interface to Load the file data into a Oracle database table.
    4. I am using a Process log table to keep the log for each step I am executing in ODI that is ODIFileWait, ODIFileMove, Interface etc. for each file. In this table a row needs to be inserted after ODIFileWait tool gets the file, with the File Name and File Date. Later on this row will be updated as the consequent steps are executed.
Here is my concern, I need to get the exact File Name of the file after ODIFileWait gets the file and I need to insert that in the Process Log table after the ODIFileWait step gets a file. So if I can store the File Name in a ODI Variable, I can insert it into the Process log table at this point. This I am not able to do.
The files are coming in a different directory (not in ODI file server path), So after getting the file it is moved to ODI file server path (../oracledi/demo/file)
The Files which I am processing are fixed length format. Also, the File name and File Date is stored in the 1st Record(Header record) of the files.
Kindly provide me suggestions to implement this in my code.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Anik

    Look at this link -http://odiexperts.com/getting-one-or-several-unknown-files-from-a-directory
change the command to fetch the ls command and write into File and then using either java or jython break the data and fetch the file name and date and insert into log table.
    (or)
you can use the os.system command and get the complete ls command into string and then process and insert it.
Let us know if you need any other help.

Are there any dialog boxes popping up behind your Yahoo screen?
I have intermittent problems attaching files in Yahoo mail and this is usually the reason.  I'm also using an iMac (10.7.3) and this is likely the problem.
It is generally a Yahoo issue rather than a Mac problem.
