Store analysis column info to variable

Dear Gurus,
I have analysis like this:
Period-Month Organization-Name Unnotified-absence-count Notified-absence-count
2011/12 Finance 7 5
If I click on 7 then I want to show the detail employee report, but i need to filter the report base on Unnotified/notified.
how to keep the variable when click on column on analysis?and to pass the variable to the detail report?
Please help
Thank you before
Regards
Maria

Yes, this is absolutely possible. We have implemented something similar to this. Clicking on a metric in a summary report should pass all the values from the dimensions left to it to the detail report including the column that is used for drill down. Just make sure both the reports are off of same subject area, and if they are not, create aliases in the RPD to match the column names, and make sure on the 2nd report, you have all the columns as prompted that you are trying to pass values into, and set the navigtion in the 1st report accordingly.

  • Store Column-Name into variable

    Hello from germany
    I got stuck with following:
    How is it possible to store the name of a column into a variable or is it possible to put an index "on" a column?
    The reason for this: I need to fill and check a complete column!
    Thanks for Your help!
    Best regards

    Those sure are unrelated questions. Lets say we have a table like this:
    SQL> CREATE TABLE t (
      2    a  number,
      3    b  varchar2(8),
      4    c  date );
    Table created.You can get a column name like this:
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL> DECLARE
      2    second_col   VARCHAR2 (30);
      3  BEGIN
      4    SELECT column_name
      5      INTO second_col
      6      FROM user_tab_columns
      7     WHERE table_name = 'T'
      8       AND column_id = 2;
      9    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_line(second_col);
    10  END;
    11  /
    B
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> You can put an index on a column like this:
    SQL> CREATE INDEX t_n1 ON t(b);
    Index created.And you can add data to the table like this:
    SQL> insert into t(a, b) values (4, 'asdf');
    1 row created.
    SQL> select * from t;

    Your question is not clear. Howver, this is what I guess you want to do.
    Example, Check that the Emplyee Number I enter is KING. Check and Print message accordingly.
    Here i user PL/SQL run in SQLPlus
    SET VERIFY OFF
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    DECLARE
         EMP_NAME VARCHAR(30);
    BEGIN
         SELECT ENAME
         INTO EMP_NAME
         FROM EMP
         WHERE EMPNO = &EMP_NUMBER;
         IF EMP_NAME = 'KING'
         THEN
              DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('The Emplyee Name is: '||EMP_Name);
         ELSIF EMP_NAME != 'KING'
         THEN
              DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('The Emplyee is not KING but: '||EMP_Name);
         END IF;
    EXCEPTION

  • HTML in Analysis column prompt's label not working

    Hi all,
    In 11.1.1.6, I have an Analysis column prompt (not a dashboard prompt).
    In the prompt label property I have html, which the help dialog box says can be used, however, the html is not displaying as intended. It's showing the html tags along with the text. Even something simple, like just having a bold tag or font color tag doesn't work - it displays this literally.
    In 10g, I had the html in the description property and it worked fine. It seems in 11g the description property is for tool tip text.
    Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks.

    Use one prompt. Make it a dashboard prompt instead of a column prompt save it to a presentation variable. Then you can apply two filters to the column, one "less than or equal to" your presentation variable and one "greater than or equal to" your presentation variable. Although the default operand is "AND," just click on it and it will change to "OR."
    You can also do one filter and just make it "not in/not equal to."

  • How do I store VI References in global variables and access them later

    From what I know, Labview automatically deletes VI references when they go out of use. Is there a way for me to override this so that I can access a set of preloaded references in a separate VI? Essentially I would like to open the VI's dynamically into the memory, store the references in global variables and access them at a later time. The VI's I'm referencing won't be known until runtime. I know its not the safest way to do it, but it would be the most productive on my end.
    Thank you
    Clay Upton

    I'm not sure what you mean by "a later time", but a VI reference will remain valid as long as the VI is in memory. If you don't unload the VIs, the references will remain valid.
    If you do need to unload the VIs, for whatever reason, I would suggest the following:
    Create a functional global as your interface for obtaining the references.
    Feed the paths to the VIs into the VI when initializing it (since you don't know which VIs in advance).
    When calling the VI to obtain the references, have the VI check them first (using the Not a Number... primitive). If it sees that they're invalid, it can open a new reference and return that.
    You should note that when a VI is removed from memory, the data space is used is released, so if those VIs are expected to hold data (using shift registers, etc.) this will be a problem.
    The description I've given will only be usable in certain instances (and it has its intricacies), but you didn't really give any details about what you're actually trying to accomplish.
    Try to take over the world!

  • Store multiple values into a variable

    I was wondering if it was possible to store multiple values into one varaible. Something along the lines of...
    Oracle: 10g
    --Table xSample (this is obviously a dumbed down version of the table for the sake of showing what I want to accomplish
    S_ID   YEAR
    1         2009
    2         2009
    3         2009
    4         2009
    --Query
    select     s_id
    into       pID
    from      xSample
    where    year = 2009;Basically the reason I was trying to figure out how to store multiple values into a variable is b/c I was going to use that variable (pID) as a parameter and have it's values passed dynamically when the proc was called. The values would go into a query that would look something like:
    select *
    from cust_data
    where person_id in (pID)
    aka
    select *
    from cust_data
    where person_id in (1,2,3,4)Not sure if this is possible, but if anyone knows of a way I could accomplish this that would be great.

    Here's a basic idea building a comma seperated list, then consuming it in another query (taking the in list approach from Tom's post, linked earlier).
    create table xsample (s_id number not null, year number);
    insert into xsample select level, 2009 from dual connect by level <=4;
    commit;
    declare
       --4000 should be lots ... hopefully?
       v_parameter_list varchar2(4000);
    begin
      --create the comma seperated list
      select
        substr(max(sys_connect_by_path(s_id, ',') ), 2, 4000)
      into
        v_parameter_list
      from
        select s_id, row_number() over(order by 1) as rn
        from xsample
        where year = 2009
      start with rn = 1
      connect by prior rn = rn - 1;
      --consume the comma seperated list
      for x in
        with data as
          select
            trim( substr (txt,
            instr (txt, ',', 1, level  ) + 1,
            instr (txt, ',', 1, level+1)
            - instr (txt, ',', 1, level) -1 ) ) as token
          from
            select ','||v_parameter_list||',' txt
            from dual
          connect by level <= length(v_parameter_list)-length(replace(v_parameter_list,',',''))+1
        select *
        from xsample
        where s_id in (select * from data)
      loop
        dbms_output.put_line('next item = ' || x.s_id);
      end loop;
    end;

  • TYPE and SIZE, 2 more columns to the variable in the Command behavior?

    DW 8.02 added 2 more columns to the variable in the Command
    behavior, TYPE and SIZE. What do you put in here?
    What is the difference for Access text, Date/Time, number and
    Memo columns.
    The Dreamweaver DOCS don't cover this update and you can't OK
    the COMMAND without these two columns

    This will be of some help:
    http://www.w3schools.com/ado/ado_datatypes.asp
    You should be able to gather the column size from the
    database's table
    definition. Typically, columns that hold text are one byte
    per character
    (two for Unicode), whereas integers are 4 bytes. Other
    numeric types and
    date types vary among database systems.

  • Edmx cannot mapped stored procedure column info not displaying

    Hi,
    I'm trying to follow the QBE on how to mapped stored proedure in EF.
    Everything works fine until I need to Add Import Function where I could not see the list of column info.
    I'm using .NET 4.5, EF 5.0, 11gR3 DB, VS 2012 & ODP 11.2.0.3.60 (beta)
    Below is my app.config.
    <oracle.dataaccess.client>
    <settings>
    <add name="HR.UPDATE_AND_RETURN_SALARY.RefCursor.NEW_SALARY" value="implicitRefCursor bindinfo='mode=Output'" />
    <add name="HR.UPDATE_AND_RETURN_SALARY.RefCursorMetaData.NEW_SALARY.Column.0" value="implicitRefCursor metadata='ColumnName=FIRST_NAME;BaseColumnName=FIRST_NAME;BaseSchemaName=HR;BaseTableName=EMPLOYEES;NATIVEDATATYPE=Varchar2;ProviderType=Varchar2'" />
    <add name="HR.UPDATE_AND_RETURN_SALARY.RefCursorMetaData.NEW_SALARY.Column.1" value="implicitRefCursor metadata='ColumnName=SALARY;NATIVEDATATYPE=Number;ProviderType=Int32'" />
    </settings>
    </oracle.dataaccess.client>
    As far as I can tell it seems like VS would use the tags above to figure out the return column info and create a complex type. I could not see why it is not recognizing it.
    Please note that I can access an Oracle table successfully and display rows in VS.
    Thanks in advance

    I'm not sure if you're the person that just logged a SR on this, but I just recently worked the same issue.
    It turns out that
    a) if you don't pay attention, adding a new Oracle Connection in Server Explorer defaults to the MANAGED ODP.NET (you can still create a connection using UnManaged though).
    b) the metadata for MANAGED ODP.NET is different than the metadata for UNManaged. Here's the correct mapping for MANAGED ODP:
    oracle.manageddataaccess.client>
        <version number="*">
          <implicitRefCursor>
            <storedProcedure schema="HR" name="UPDATE_AND_RETURN_SALARY">
              <refCursor name="NEW_SALARY">
                <bindInfo mode="Output" />
                <metadata columnOrdinal="0" columnName="FIRST_NAME" providerType="Varchar2" nativeDataType="Varchar2" />
                <metadata columnOrdinal="1" columnName="SALARY" providerType="Double" nativeDataType="Number" />
              </refCursor>
            </storedProcedure>
          </implicitRefCursor>
        </version>
      </oraclemanaged.dataaccess.client>

  • Store the vital info from the absence quota record in an internal table

    Hi experts,
    I want to detrmine if the Absence record’s (PA2001 rec) deduction from date (PA2001-BEGDA) and absence to date (PA2001-ENDDA) are permissible for the validity period of the Absence Quota record (the PA2006 rec).  If the quota’s deduction from date, PA2006-DESTA, is greater than the PA2001-BEGDA, we then need to identify this absence quota record for change and change the deduction from date, PA2006-DESTA, to be the same as PA2001-BEGDA.  Store the vital info from the absence quota record in an internal table and record the new date that the deduction from date that needs to be changed to.  The changes will be made via a BDC session.
    Please help me out...
    Thanks,
    Vicky

    This looks possible if we code it in 'dynamic action' table, but the BDC may not read it during run time.
    Do you still have this issue?
    Thanks

  • Select LONG column into CLOB variable

    Hi all,
    I am trying retrieve the data present in a LONG column into a CLOB variable.
    However I am getting an error, pls let me know how I can resolve it.
    DECLARE
    v_text CLOB;
    BEGIN
    SELECT TO_LOB(trigger_body)
    INTO v_text
    FROM
    user_triggers
    WHERE
    ROWNUM <= 1;
    END;
    ERROR at line 8:
    ORA-06550: line 8, column 20:
    PL/SQL: ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got LONG
    ORA-06550: line 8, column 5:
    PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
    Let me know if there is an alternate to this. I would like to get the data present in the LONG column into a variable.
    The reason why I am not retrieving the LONG column into LONG variable is stated below (from Oracle Website):
    You can insert any LONG value into a LONG database column because the maximum width of a LONG column is 2**31 bytes.
    However, you cannot retrieve a value longer than 32760 bytes from a LONG column into a LONG variable.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Somu

    There are couple of things I did (listed in order):
    1) Create Global Temporary Table containing a CLOB column
    2) Select LONG column and convert to CLOB by using TO_LOB and insert into Global Temporary Table containing a CLOB column
    2) Select from this Global Temporary Table (which already contains data in CLOB) and assign it to a CLOB variable.
    This is done because you can not directly use TO_LOB in a select statement to assign the value to a CLOB variable.
    Stated below is an example:
    -- Create Temporary Table
    CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE glb_tmp_table_lob(
    time TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE,
    text CLOB
    ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS;
    -- PL/SQL Block to Execute
    DECLARE
    v_clob CLOB;
    BEGIN
    -- Insert into Temporary Table by converting LONG into CLOB
    INSERT INTO glb_tmp_table_lob (
    time ,
    text
    SELECT
    sysdate ,
    TO_LOB(dv.text)
    FROM
    dba_views dv
    WHERE
    ROWNUM <= 1
    -- Select from the Temporary table into the variable
    SELECT
    gt.text
    INTO
    v_clob
    FROM
    glb_tmp_table_lob gt;
    COMMIT;
    -- Now you can use the CLOB variable as per your needs.
    END;

  • Select Column using Session Variable

    I have set a session variable to hold the name of a column
    dependent on who the user is. Is it possible to use a session
    variable to select a column in a database table? If so, how? Does
    it need a where statement?
    Something like this?:
    <cfquery name="rsSelectColumn" datasource="Test">
    SELECT Column 1, Column 2, Column 3 = Session Variable
    FROM tbl_data
    </cfquery>
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I think you want to do this, if the value in the session
    variable is the actual column name:
    <cfquery name="rsSelectColumn" datasource="Test">
    SELECT Column 1, Column 2, #Session Variable# AS Col3
    FROM tbl_data
    </cfquery>
    this way you can call any column stored in the session
    variable, and it will always be usable from the QUERY as COL3
    regardless of what column you used.
    If that is what you want to do - it IS that simple.
    Sometimes we over think things too much.

  • Does DNG store star ratings info? + other questions...

    Hey guys,
    Finally got V1 downloaded and up and running after using B4 extensively for the past few months. Really been looking forward to this release and the added features are just what I have been after.
    My old library was imported but the folders are a real mess as I expected.
    I want to start a fresh library but keep my star ratings and image corrections if possible. I thought of converting all of my RAW files to DNG, then starting a new library and importing my entire collection of images again. Do the DNG files store star rating info? I was using stars as part of my deletion workflow... so there are many files that are one star which need deletion.
    This brings me to my next couple of questions.
    - how do I filter by star rating - it was quite easy in B4
    - how do I delete a file to the trash can... can't quite figure it out. In B4 I just selected the image and then ctrl-backspace.
    Thanks to the guys who are answering all these questions...
