Store column into matrix

Hello, I'm acquiring some data that comes into a string of numbers. I'd like to store them into a matrix in this way: for acquisition 1 -> data in column 1, acquisition 2->data in column 2 and so on...
I did the code attached simulating some data, but when I put them in the matrix, the new acquisition finishes in column 1 and the old one become a list of 0.
Any suggestion?
ps - I'm acquiring pixel values, so at the end I'd like a pixel matrix to reconstruct an image. every acquisition is a vertical line of the image.

Do you really need to see the imtermediary result? If the loops are fast, just autoindex on both loop to get a 2D array. Same final result.

  • Store Column-Name into variable

    Hello from germany
    I got stuck with following:
    How is it possible to store the name of a column into a variable or is it possible to put an index "on" a column?
    The reason for this: I need to fill and check a complete column!
    Thanks for Your help!
    Best regards
    Marlon

    Those sure are unrelated questions. Lets say we have a table like this:
    SQL> CREATE TABLE t (
      2    a  number,
      3    b  varchar2(8),
      4    c  date );
    Table created.You can get a column name like this:
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL> DECLARE
      2    second_col   VARCHAR2 (30);
      3  BEGIN
      4    SELECT column_name
      5      INTO second_col
      6      FROM user_tab_columns
      7     WHERE table_name = 'T'
      8       AND column_id = 2;
      9    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_line(second_col);
    10  END;
    11  /
    B
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> You can put an index on a column like this:
    SQL> CREATE INDEX t_n1 ON t(b);
    Index created.And you can add data to the table like this:
    SQL> insert into t(a, b) values (4, 'asdf');
    1 row created.
    SQL> select * from t;
             A B        C
             4 asdf

  • To store PDF into BLOB and retrieve into OLE/OCX

    We would like to:
    1. Store a PDF file (output of a report saved in file server) into a BLOB
    column.
    2. Retrieve previously stored PDF in the BLOB column and display using either
    OLE automation or ActiveX (OCX) control.
    I read all related documents in metalink that addresses this issue however cant
    get this to work. We have Acrobat Reader 4.0. Here are some issues from the
    tests that I did:
    1. To load the PDF file the program code that uses BFILE and LOADFROMFILE does
    not work since the database is on a remote server and the PDF file is on a
    local file server. The DIRECTORY created on the database is unable to find the
    PDF file.
    2. Though I want the loading of the file to be programmatic, I tried
    right-click on the OLE container and inserted object from file. This loaded the
    file into the container (Icon on the container appeared) however I was not able
    to view the document by double-clicking. An error in Adobe occured: 'There was
    an error opening this document. A file read error occured'. My guess is the
    'Insert Object' did not insert the file properly into the BLOB.
    3. When trying to display the PDF file stored in file server (in case storing
    into BLOB does not work), I used an OCX control, right-clicked and Insert
    Object and select Adobe Control for ActiveX. The problem here is when I run the
    form, the OCX control shows up empty and I have to 'Insert Object' again in
    runtime. Once I manually insert object from runtime the GET_INTERFACE POINTER &
    SET_PROPERTY works fine is displaying the document. Is there any way to
    maintain the control property of the OCX when the form is run?
    4. Are there any workarounds and better solution to store PDFs into BLOBs and
    retrieve and display in OLE/OCX controls? Using temporary file into local drive
    is not an issue.
    5. Would I be able to make use of 'PDF.PdfCtrl.1' OLE class?
    6. Does OLE automation work for Acrobat Reader 4.0.?
    I would appreciate all the help.
    Shyam

    Im facing a similar kind of problem. I want to store and retrieve Office files, PDF and Jpegs into/from the database to view them on web in disconnected mode. Please reply as I cant find any help/documentation regarding saving BLOB data into files. I was able to store file data into BLOB, using DBMS_LOB package.

  • Writing BLOB column into a csv or txt or sql  files

    Hi All,
    I am having a requirement where i have to upload a file from user desktop and place that file into a unix directory. For this i am picking that file into a table using APEX and then writing that file in unix directory using UTL_FILE.
    The problem which i am facing is that after this every line in my file is having ^M character at the end.
    For this i modified my BLOB column into a CLOB column and then also i am facing the same problem.
    Is there any way to get rid of this as i have to upload these csv or txt files into tables using sql loader programs. i can;t write any shell script to remove ^M character before uploading as this program will be merge with existing programs and then it will require lots of code change.
    Kindly Help.
    Thanks
    Aryan

    Hi Helios,
    Thanks again buddy for your reply and providing me different ways.... but still the situation is i can;t write any shell script for removing the ^M. I will be writing into a file from CLOB column.
    Actually the scenrio is when i am writing a simple VARCHAR columns with 'W' mode then it is working fine, but i have a BLOB column which stores the data in binary format so i am converting that column into CLOB and then writing it into file with 'W' mode but then i am getting ^M characters. As per your suggestion i have to then again run a program for removing ^M or i have to modify all my previous programs for removing ^M logic.
    I want to avoid all these, and just wanted a way so that while writing into a file itself it should not have ^M. Else i have to go for a java stored procedure for running a shell script from sql, and in this still i am having some problem.
    Thanks Again Helios for your time and help.

  • How to store pdf into blob, index it and search it?

    I am trying to store pdf into a column, index the column and search it.
    I store pdf file into blob column with either the following code or with an interface in apex
    declare
    Dest_loc BLOB;
    Src_loc BFILE := BFILENAME('DIR_TESTCASE', 'intermedia.pdf');
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO pdffiles(id, description)
    VALUES(1, 'InterMedia Concepts')
    RETURN text INTO Dest_loc;
    DBMS_LOB.FILEOPEN(Src_loc, DBMS_LOB.LOB_READONLY);
    DBMS_LOB.LOADFROMFILE(Dest_loc, Src_loc, dbms_lob.getlength(Src_loc));
    DBMS_LOB.FILECLOSE(Src_loc);
    COMMIT;
    END;
    then i need to create an index
    begin
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('pdf
    lexer', 'BASICLEXER');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('pdf_lexer', 'printjoins', '_-');
    end;
    create index PDFFILES_TEXT on PDFFILES(TEXT) indextype is ctxsys.context
    parameters ('lexer pdf_lexer');
    sqlplus says index created but windows gives an error and closes ctxhx.exe
    and of cource when I tried to make a search like
    select id, description
    from pdffiles
    where contains(text,'Oracle') > 0;
    it doesn't return any results.
    My database is 10g XE, I also tried it on Oracle 10.2.0.3 EE

    It is possible to store pdf and doc files in a blob column, create a text index, and search them, and display them. However, you cannot expect to just select doc and pdf data directly from a blob column and expect to be able to read it, due to all of the special formatting characters. You need to use ctx_doc.snippet or ctx_doc.markup or some such thing to format it and make it readable. Please see the demonstration below. You can search the online documentation for complete syntax, additional information, and examples.

    Hi  Katamarucz,
    According to your description and the sample matrix, you want to merge the columns in the same steps into one column, right? In this case, on some rows the columns that have the same steps should be merged, however, the column should not be merge on other
    row that the columns have different steps.
    In Reporting Services, if we merger the columns when designing the report, then the columns will be merged on all the rows. So you requirement cannot be achieved. And I am afraid there is no other approach to work around this issue.
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • How to break the name column into first,middle,last

    hi,
    Having a column in a table called employee_name which is
    containing the names of employees like:-
    employee_name
    Syed Azhar Husain
    Also having another table having cloumns first_name,middle_name, last_name
    I just want to write the query that break my employee_name column into
    first name, middle name, last name and
    store into table columns first_name, middle_name, last_name respectively
    i.e. it should display like
    first_name middle_name last_name
    Syed Azhar husain
    I am using oracle9i database.
    Thanks in advance
    Azhar

    Dear Asuri,
    Thanks for quick reply,
    your query was working fine when there was one record into the table but when there was more then one record into the table it was giving error "ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row". So i did small modification in the query as below
    SELECT SUBSTR(' ' || name || ' ', INSTR(' ' || name || ' ' , ' ', 1, rn) +1,
    INSTR(' ' || name || ' ' , ' ', 1, rn + 1) - INSTR(' ' || name || ' ' , ' ', 1, rn) -1) name
    FROM test , (SELECT ROWNUM rn FROM all_objects
    WHERE ROWNUM <= ( SELECT distinct(LENGTH(name) - (LENGTH(REPLACE(name, ' ')))) / LENGTH(' ') + 1
    FROM test ))
    order by name
    so above query is working fine with more than one record but there is another problem as i am explaining blow
    Suppose there is table called "test" as follows
    SQL> select * from test;
    NAME
    Rajendra kumar jain
    syed azhar husain
    Chander Shekhar Kumar
    when i am putting above query it is giving result as follows
    NAME
    Chander
    Kumar
    Rajendra
    Shekhar
    azhar
    husain
    jain
    kumar
    syed
    my requirement is that for complete full name like 'syed azhar husain' it should give
    name
    fist name : syed
    middle name: azhar
    last name: husain
    first name: rejendra
    middle name: kumar
    last name: jain
    first name: chander
    middle name: shekhar
    last name: kumar

  • Need to Convert Comma separated data in a column into individual rows from

    Hi,
    I need to Convert Comma separated data in a column into individual rows from a table.
    Eg: JOB1 SMITH,ALLEN,WARD,JONES
    OUTPUT required ;-
    JOB1 SMITH
    JOB1 ALLEN
    JOB1 WARD
    JOB1 JONES
    Got a solution using Oracle provided regexp_substr function, which comes handy for this scenario.
    But I need to use a database independent solution
    Thanks in advance for your valuable inputs.

  • Error reading data from CLOB column into VARCHAR2 variable

    Hi all,
    Am hitting an issue retrieving data > 8K (minus 1) stored in a CLOB column into a VARCHAR2 variable in PL/SQL...
    The "problem to be solved" here is storing DDL, in this case a "CREATE VIEW" statement, that is longer than 8K for later retrieval (and execution) using dynamic SQL. Given that the EXECUTE IMMEDIATE statement can take a VARCHAR2 variable (up to 32K(-1)), this should suffice for our needs, however, it seems that somewhere in the process of converting this VARCHAR2 text to a CLOB for storage, and then retrieving the CLOB and attempting to put it back into a VARCHAR2 variable, it is throwing a standard ORA-06502 exception ("PL/SQL: numeric or value error"). Consider the following code:
    set serveroutput on
    drop table test1;
    create table test1(col1 CLOB);
    declare
    cursor c1 is select col1 from test1;
    myvar VARCHAR2(32000);
    begin
    myvar := '';
    for i in 1..8192 loop
    myvar := myvar || 'a';
    end loop;
    INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
    for arec in c1 loop
    begin
    myvar := arec.col1;
    dbms_output.put_line('Read data of length ' || length(myvar));
    exception when others then
    dbms_output.put_line('Error reading data: ' || sqlerrm);
    end;
    end loop;
    end;
    If you change the loop upper bound to 8191, all works fine. I'm guessing this might have something to do with the database character set -- we've recently converted our databases over to UTF-8, for Internationalizion support, and that seems to have changed underlying assumptions regarding character processing...?
    As far as the dynamic SQL issue goes, we can probably use the DBMS_SQL interface instead, with it's EXECUTE procedure that takes a PL/SQL array of varchar2(32K) - the only issue there is reading the data from the CLOB column, and then breaking that data into an array but that doesn't seem insurmountable. But this same basic issue (when a 9K text block, let's say, turns into a >32K block after being CLOBberred) seems to comes up in other text-processing situations also, so any ideas for how to resolve would be much appreciated.
    Thanks for any tips/hints/ideas...
    Jim

    For those curious about this, here's the word from Oracle support (courtesy of Metalinks):
    RESEARCH
    ========
    Test the issue for different DB version and different characterset.
    --Testing the following PL/SQL blocks by using direct assignment method(myvar := arec.col1;) on
    different database version and different characterset.
    SQL>create table test1(col1 CLOB);
    --Inserting four CLOB data into test1.
    declare
    myvar VARCHAR2(32767);
    begin
    myvar := RPAD('a',4000);
    INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
    myvar := RPAD('a',8191);
    INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
    myvar := RPAD('b',8192);
    INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
    myvar := RPAD('c',32767);
    INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
    commit;
    end;
    --Testing the direct assignment method.
    declare
    cursor c1 is select col1, length(col1) len1 from test1;
    myvar VARCHAR2(32767);
    begin
    for arec in c1 loop
    myvar := arec.col1;
    --DBMS_LOB.READ(arec.col1, arec.len1, 1, myvar);
    dbms_output.put_line('Read data of length: ' || length(myvar));
    end loop;
    end;
    The following are the summary of the test results:
    ===================================
    1. If the database characterset is WE8ISO8859P1, then the above direct assignment
    method(myvar := arec.col1;) works for database version 9i/10g/11g without any
    errors.
    2. If the database characterset is UTF8 or AL32UTF8, then the above direct assignment method(myvar := arec.col1;) will generate the "ORA-06502:
    PL/SQL: numeric or value error" when the length of the CLOB data is greater
    than 8191(=8K-1). The same error can be reproduced across all database versions
    9i/10g/11g.
    3. Using DBMS_LOB.READ(arec.col1, arec.len1, 1, myvar) method to read CLOB data into a VARCHAR2 variable works for both WE8ISO8859P1 and UTF8
    characterset and for all database versions.
    So - it seems as I'd surmised, UTF8 changes the way VARCHAR2 and CLOB data is handled. Not too surprising, I suppose - may you all be lucky enough to be able to stay away from this sort of issue. But - the DBMS_LOB.READ workaround is certainly sufficient for the text processing situations we find ourselves in currently.
    Cheers,
    Jim C.

  • How do I stop FireFox from converting css3 transforms such as scale, or rotate, into matrix transforms?

    Go to pilatch.com/cards and click any of the cards in the arc. Now do the same in Chrome, or Safari, or IE 9. I have un-min-catted all my JavaScript, so you can see what's going on more easily.
    CSS3 transforms in version 16 of FireFox are being converted into matrix transforms.
    It pretty much horks my rotate and scale animations.
    For instance, if you set the style attribute of an element to something like, style="transform:scale(0.75)", FireFox immediately converts that element's transform property, such as <element>.style.transform to "matrix(...)".
    I know how to do the linear algebra to convert rotate and scale via jQuery cssHooks into matrix transformations, and I've even written code to detect this "feature" of a browser, (that it forces a transform into matrix), and return a different hook that writes a matrix transform instead of a rotate transform, or scale, all in the past two days, on my development site.
    However, it's proving to be increasingly challenging to make this new feature compatible with jQuery's animations. Going further, I may have to hack jQuery just to make this work for FireFox, or drop FireFox animation support altogether unless some FireFox developers make their new implementation backwards compatible.
    I know that transforms normally get converted into matrices behind the scenes in the rendering engine. Leave your matrix there. Don't overwrite what the user has put in for a transform!
    I also know that I should be using CSS3 animations, but, dangit, I started this project before those had widespread support. I can't rewrite all my animations because I want to support FireFox. That's not really an option. I'll direct my users to Chrome instead. I have more features in development that use these types of animation, and I'm in too deep to turn back.
    Thanks for your consideration. Please contact me as you learn more about this.

  • Problem with checkbox column in matrix

    Hello.
    I have a little problem with checkbox column in matrix.
    Column is binded to the UserData.
    It has ValOn="Y", ValOff="N".
    I use C++. It is wird problem. In matrix I have 10 columns - scrollbar role and if You want see checkbox column, You must role to the right. If this column is on the screen, and I use:
    checkcell->PutChecked(VARIANT_TRUE);
    then the checkbox is cheched, and if the checkbox isn`t on the screen and I use this comment - it nothing happening.
    I tried to use ValOn="Y", PutChecked...
    The problem i solved if the column is on the screen - if the column is first in matrix or second, but if it`s last I have a big problem.
    My column with checkbox is not editable, but I tried to make it editable, check it, and then make it uneditable - the same efect.
    How can I solve it ?
    Sorry for my english.
    Kamil Wydra

    Hello Kamil,
    I am not sure about your problem, but here is an example of how to use checkbox in UI API.
    First, create the matrix with checkbox column in Screen painter, and the output is an xml file, like this. Type as 121 indicates that it is a check box.
    - <column AffectsFormMode="0" backcolor="-1" description="" disp_desc="0" editable="0" right_just="0" title="Rented" type="121" uid="Rented" val_off="N" val_on="Y" visible="1" width="41">
      <databind alias="U_RENTED" databound="1" table="@VIDS" />
      <ExtendedObject />
    Second, bind the column to table from DB. This is a bug of 2004 Screen Painter, so if you are using 2005 Screen Painter, there is no problem.
    Third, when you open the form, you can check and uncheck the cell.
    BTW, please set the editable of the column to true.
    Hope this helps,
    Nick
