Stored Procedure Interface

I need to develop an interface to SQL Server Stored procedures (SPs).  Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?  Currently we are using custom SAP database tables for these interfaces.  ABAP and the SPs are reading and writing to these tables.  I don't believe this a good design and I would like to replace it.

Perhaps you can create a database connection (DBCON).
I used it for MS SQL sever.

    Hi,
    We are facing this problem for one interface alone.
    Need expert advice to fix this problem..
    This is scheduled to run once in a day and fails daily for past 2 weeks..
    We receive below error as response..
    Same interface worked fine for past 1 yr..
    Also it works fine if we reprocess the batch in next day morning...
    Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'DB_Legacy_To_EBS_Invoice_Conversion' failed due to: Stored procedure invocation error. Looks like the SQL might be taking a longer time to execute and might be timing out.

  • How to pass the parameter values to the stored procedure from java code?

    I have a stored procedure written in sqlplus as below:
    create procedure spInsertCategory (propertyid number, category varchar2, create_user varchar2, create_date date) AS BEGIN Insert into property (propertyid, category,create_user,create_date) values (propertyid , category, create_user, create_date); END spInsertCategory;
    I am trying to insert a new row into the database using the stored procedure.
    I have called the above procedure in my java code as below:
    CallableStatement sp = null;
    sp = conn.prepareCall("{call spInsertCategory(?, ?, ?, ?)}");
    How should I pass the values [propertyid, category, create_user, create_date) from java to the stored procedure?[i.e., parameters]

  • How to get multiple out parameters from a pl/sql stored procedure in ADF Jdeveloper 11g release2

    I´m trying to call from AppModuleImpl a stored procedure from my oracle DB which receives one input parameter and returns 5 out parameters.
    I´m using jdeveloper 11g release2  ADF and I have created a java bean "ProRecallPlatesBean " with the atributes and accesors and I serialize it. just like in this article http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16182/bcadvgen.htm#sm0297
    This is my code so far:
    public ProRecallPlatesBean getCallProRecallPlates(String numPlates) {
    CallableStatement st = null;
    try {
              // 1. Define the PL/SQL block for the statement to invoke
              String stmt = "begin CTS.Pk_PreIn.proRecallPlates(?,?,?,?,?,?); end;";
              // 2. Create the CallableStatement for the PL/SQL block
              st = getDBTransaction().createCallableStatement(stmt,0);
              // 3. Register the positions and types of the OUT parameters
              st.registerOutParameter(2,Types.VARCHAR);
    st.registerOutParameter(3,Types.VARCHAR);
    st.registerOutParameter(4,Types.VARCHAR);
    st.registerOutParameter(5,Types.VARCHAR);
    st.registerOutParameter(6,Types.VARCHAR);
    // 4. Set the bind values of the IN parameters
    st.setString(1,numPlates);
    // 5. Execute the statement
    st.executeUpdate();
    // 6. Create a bean to hold the multiple return values
    ProRecallPlatesBean result = new ProRecallPlatesBean();
    // 7. Set values of properties using OUT params
    result.setSpfVal(st.getString(2));
    result.setTransportTypeVal(st.getString(3));
    result.setTransportCompanyVal(st.getString(4));
    result.setCompanyDescrVal(st.getString(5));
    result.setDGAPrint(st.getString(6));
    // 8. Return the result
    return result;
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    throw new JboException(e);
    } finally {
    if (st != null) {
    try {
    // 9. Close the JDBC CallableStatement
    st.close();
    catch (SQLException e) {}
    In Jdeveloper I went into AppModule.xml JAVA>Client Interface section and expose "getCallProRecallPlates" Then I can see "getCallProRecallPlates" in Data Controls, I drag and drop it to a JSF page, an input text component and a button are generated in order to put in there the procedure input parameter (numPlates).
    I don't know if I'm on the right track.
    When I click the button, the "result" variable is supposed to be filled with data from the stored procedure. I want each of those values to be displayed in Output text or input text adf components but I dont know how. Thank you very much in advance I´m a newbie and i'll appreciate your help!

  • Return records from Stored Procedure to Callable Statement

    Hi All,
    I am createing a web application to display a students score card.
    I have written a stored procedure in oracle that accepts the student roll number as input and returns a set of records as output containing the students scoring back to the JSP page where it has to be put into a table format.
    how do i register the output type of "records" from the stored function in oracle in the "registerOutParameter" method of the "callable" statement in the JSP page.
    if not by this way is there any method using which a "stored function/procedure" returning "record(s)" to the jsp page called using "callable" statement be retrieved to be used in the page. let me know any method other that writing a query for the database in the JSP page itself.

    I have a question for you:
    If the stored procedure is doing nothing more than generating a set of results why are you even using one?
    You could create a view or write a simple query like you mentioned.
    If you're intent on going the stored procedure route, then I have a suggestion. Part of the JDBC 2.0 spec allows you to basically return an object from a CallableStatement. Its a little involved but can be done. An article that I ran across a while back really helped me to figure out how to do this. There URL to it is as follows:
    http://www.fawcette.com/archives/premier/mgznarch/javapro/2000/03mar00/bs0003/bs0003.asp
    Pay close attention to the last section of the article: Persistence of Structured Types.
    Here's some important snippets of code:
    String UDT_NAME = "SCHEMA_NAME.PRODUCT_TYPE_OBJ";
    cstmt.setLong(1, value1);
    cstmt.setLong(2, value2);
    cstmt.setLong(3, value3);
    // By updating the type map in the connection object
    // the Driver will be able to convert the array being returned
    // into an array of LikeProductsInfo[] objects.
    java.util.Map map = cstmt.getConnection().getTypeMap();
    map.put(UDT_NAME, ProductTypeObject.class);
    super.cstmt.registerOutParameter(4, java.sql.Types.STRUCT, UDT_NAME);
    * This is the class that is being mapped to the oracle object.
    * There are two methods in the SQLData interface.
    public class ProductTypeObject implements java.sql.SQLData, java.io.Serializable
        * Implementation of method declared in the SQLData interface.  This method
        * is called by the JDBC driver when mapping the UDT, SCHEMA_NAME.Product_Type_Obj,
        * to this class.
        * The object being returned contains a slew of objects defined as tables,
        * these are retrieved as java.sql.Array objects.
         public void readSQL(SQLInput stream, String typeName) throws SQLException
            String[] value1 = (String[])stream.readArray().getArray();
            String[] value2 = (String[])stream.readArray().getArray();
         public void writeSQL(SQLOutput stream) throws SQLException
    }You'll also need to create Oracles Object. The specification for mine follows:
    TYPE Detail_Type IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(1024);
    TYPE Product_Type_Obj AS OBJECT (
      value1  Detail_Type,
      value2 Detail_Type,
      value3 Detail_Type,
      value4 Detail_Type,
      value5 Detail_Type,
      value6 Detail_Type,
      value7 Detail_Type,
      value8 Detail_Type);Hope this helps,

  • Get a return value from a stored procedure.

    hi all ,
    i need to know where i am going wrong with the below code. I am trying to get a value from a stored procedure. the return type is int. The stored procedure works fine as i've debugged it. The variable have been declared correctly.
    int n = 0;
    proc = conn.prepareCall("{ ? = call SP_GETITEMCURRENTSOH(?,?) }");
                proc.registerOutParameter(1, java.sql.Types.INTEGER);
                proc.setString(1, locationCode);
                proc.setString(2, itemCode);
                proc.execute();
                n = proc.getInt(1);thanks

    Hi ayub_a,
    According the [ *setString*|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/sql/CallableStatement.html#setString(java.lang.String,%20java.lang.String)] method of the [*CallableStatement*|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/sql/CallableStatement.html] interface, the first parameter must be a parameter name and not an ordinal position index !!!
    Edit : I've just found out the solution, it must be :
    int n = 0;
    proc = conn.prepareCall("{ ? = call SP_GETITEMCURRENTSOH(?,?) }");
                 proc.registerOutParameter(1, java.sql.Types.INTEGER);
                 proc.setString(2, locationCode);
                 proc.setString(3, itemCode);
                 proc.execute();
                 n = proc.getInt(1);Edited by: Chicon on Jul 5, 2009 7:48 PM

  • Retrieving cursor from a stored procedure

    Hi,
    Is there any means to retrieve a cursor from a stored procedure using java.sql.* package, without using database specific type code like OracleTypes.CURSOR?
    Regards,
    Shalin.

    Hi,
    I had some across this problem some time ago. Although, there is no direct answer to this solution, there is a "kloog" that you can apply.
    Please note that the signature for registerOutParameter(int parameterIndex, int sqlType), and note that where ever sqlType is mentioned it is an int.
    Now JDBC is an interface and the implementation is given by Oracle. So to register an "out" parameter all you have to do is registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.CURSOR). It works!
    Or otherwise try and find out what the int value of CURSOR is and replace. This is because not all databases can support returning a "cursor" type, since ORACLE and few other databases have a concept of "STORED PROCEDURE" and PLSQL is specific to ORACLE.
    I hope this helps!
    Cheers,
    John.

    END;
    /Any ides on why this is not working? Any better suggestions for doing this? I need to be able to create directories from with in a PL SQL Stored Procedure. Thank you

    Simple dude, you java code returns void, whereas your function returns an int. Change the java code to return an int (and return an int)

  • How to bind arrays to PL/SQL stored procedure using OCI?

    Hi,
    We are having problems trying to bind arrays to PL/SQL stored procedure using OCI. Here is the situation:
    - We have a stored procedure called "GetVEPFindTasks" with the following interface:
    PROCEDURE GetVEPFindTasks (
    p_ErrorCode OUT NUMBER,
    p_ErrorMsg OUT VARCHAR2,
    p_RowCount OUT NUMBER,
    p_VEPFindTasks OUT t_VEPFindTaskRecordTable,
    p_MaxTask IN NUMBER);
    t_VEPFindTaskRecordTable is a record with the following entries:
    TYPE t_VEPFindTaskRecord IS RECORD (
    RTCID NUMBER,
    TransNum NUMBER,
    TransTimestamp VARCHAR2(20),
    Pathname1 image_data.pathname%TYPE,
    Pathname2 image_data.pathname%TYPE,
    Pathname3 image_data.pathname%TYPE,
    OperatorID operator.id%TYPE);
    - Now, we are trying to call the stored procedure from C++ using OCI (in UNIX). The call that we use are: OCIBindByName and OCIBindArrayOfStruct to bind the parameters to the corresponding buffers. We bind all parameters in the interface by name. Now, we do bind the record's individual item by name (RTCID, TransNum, etc.), and not as a record. I don't know if this is going to work. Then, we use the bind handles of the binded record items (only record items such as RTCID, TransNum, and NOT error_code which is not part of the record) to bind the arrays (using OCIBindArrayOfStruct).
    All of the parameters that are binded as arrays are OUTPUT parameters. The rest are either INPUT or INPUT/OUTPUT parameters. Now, when we try to execute, OCI returns with an error "Invalid number or types of arguments" (or something to that sort... the number was something like ORA-06550). Please help...
    Is there any sample on how to use the OCIBindArrayOfStruct with PL/SQL stored procedures? The sample provided from Oracle is only for a straight SQL statement.
    Thank's for all your help.
    ** Dannil Chan **

    As you said:
    You have to pass in an array for every field and deconstruct/construct the record in the procedure. There is no support for record type or an array of records. Can you give me a example? I'am very urgently need it.
    thanks

  • Multiple stored procedures using JDBC Adopter, Synchronous call

    Hello Guys,
    This is kind of different scenario,
    Here is the scenario (SQL Server -> XI -> Legacy)
    1.I want to trigger stored procedure (from XI to)
    2.Inside the stored procedure we are going to have multiple stored procedures.
    -Inside stored procedures
    SP1 -> It supposed to select the data from interface control table, if that is success
    SP2 -> Call some other stored procedures which can be select/insert/delete from different tables most of the cases it would be select, if that is success
         It should give results back (Response) to XI and with some output parameters like (status message, etc…)
    Next step I want send those results to target system which is legacy. If that is success
    Next step I should update entry in the Interface control table(which is in SQL Server) with success entry like (success message, current date, current time, interface name, username.)
         If it fails any stage like while selecting data from interface control table which is SP1/ SP2 It should give error message back to XI(output parameters). XI is going to send Alerts/Mails to respective interface owners.
    This is my scenario can anybody help me on this what needs to be done to implement this scenario.

    Hi Murali,
    Anyway , altimately you are going to call one stored procedure and going to get one output. So it will not be a problem I think.
    Anyway it is required to introduce BPM here.
    <i>Next step I want send those results to target system which is legacy. If that is success</i>
    >>>You can make sure that message is recieved by legacy system. Because legacy systems like File systems will not support Application Acknowledgement. So here you can go with Transport Acknowledgement.
    From where will get Success messages like (current date etc) are you planning to take XI system date.. If so you can get this. And you can send the message to SQL.
    <i>If it fails any stage like while selecting data from interface control table which is SP1/ SP2 It should give error message back to XI(output parameters). XI is going to send Alerts/Mails to respective interface owners.</i>
    >>>For application errors like SP2 error etc, you need to get the Error Response from stored procedure itsel.
    Second option is you can go with Adapter Alerting, whenever any error in the Sender JDBC adapter.
    Anyway design/requirement should be perfect, before start the process here...

    Moorthy

  • Use of a stored procedure in a select statement submitted to cx_oracle

    Hi,
    I am developping under python and I'm using the cx_oracle interface.
    I've written a stored procedure that I've tested directly under sqlplus session : it's ok. I've also tested this stored procedure from python by using callproc routine : its also ok.
    Now I need to use this procedure within a select statement that I submit to the execute statement of cx_oracle as :
    s = "select a.airport_name,gmlpos.ExpLatLong(a.point_name) from airport"
    self.db = oracledb('ops/opeope00@ACE2008B')
    dbmsg = self.db.execute(s)
    IF (dbmsg == "") :
    An error occurs :
    Message = request = select a.AIRPORT_NAME, gmlpos.ExpLatLong(a.point_name) from airport, errmsg = ORA-00904: "GMLPOS"."EXPLATLONG": invalid identifier
    Noting that the execution of any other select (without stored procedure) order from python works fine.
    Is anybody has a solution or workaround ?
    thanks a lot for your help

    The result gives what is expected :
    AIRP
    GMLPOS.EXPLATLONG(A.POINT_NAME)
    LFLL
    -45.71666666666667 -5.08333333333333
    As I said the stored procedure works fine.
    Thanks for your expertise
    PS : why change the login password until nobody says which machine or database is concerned ?

  • Multiple Stored Procedures - One at a time

    Hello everyone!
    I´m going to start an interface that requires me to call multiple Stored Procedures, but they will not be called at the same time.
    The legacy system has 3 stored procedures to be called, like this:
    1 - SP number 1: it says to the legacy system that some data is going to come up and clean the previous data
    2 - SP number 2: input data into the legacy system
    3 - SP number 3: for each line above, more lines will be inserted - sort of header/line cenario
    My question is: should I be able to achieve this goal using only PI 'normal' components or will I have to use BPM?
    Thanks!

    Hi Ricardo,
    According to my knowledge not required to use the BPM.
    In that first stored procedure you can call the another stored procedure, internally database can take the all necessary actions.

  • How do I get data to the from in a form based on a stored procedure

    I would like to create a form based on a stored procedure. I have bound LOV's that lookup the ID of the data that is to be displayed on the form. Then I have a button that reads the database and populates the fields on the form. This is our current UI standard on our portal site, and I need to copy that UI exactly in order to mix HTML DB code with our current portal code because we can not afford to re-write all our code in portal to HTML DB. Can this be done, and how can it be done? Thanks

    We are developing an entire HR system for our organization using portal forms. I am trying to prototype in HTML DB to see if we can switch our future development to this new product. However, we already have 50 or so forms that follow a certain user interface look and feel in portal. I am trying to create this interface look and feel in HTML DB. What we are doing in Portal is have a lookup section at the top of each form where you find the record you want to update with LOV's, sometimes 2 or 3 bound together, and then have a lookup button that does PL/SQL to read the database and populate the fields on the form. Then there is an Update button at the end of the form that takes the fields off the form and passes them to a stored procedure. I can not figure out how to do the Lookup button type of code to read information and bring it to the form when doing a form based on a stored procedure.
