Storing few XML files

hi,
I have a scenario where many portal components (say A,B,C) want to register few XML files in one central place in the portal to be used by another dedicated component.
Portal Components A,B,C do not want to write any code for achieving this. So the XML files they want register come as part of either par file or epa file.
What is the best architecture to address this? Initially thought somehow these components could store in file system. But that is not cluster safe. Is there a possibility to store it in PCD?
Thanks in advance
Kiran

If your par(A,B,C) have xml in it then other components have to write code to acces the xml from the (A,B,C). You have to write following lines of code assuming other components are an abstractportalcomponents.
public class test extends AbstractPortalComponent
    public void doContent(IPortalComponentRequest request, IPortalComponentResponse response)
     try {
        //if the component A,B,C stores the file under folder dist->xml
         URL url = new URL(request.getPublicResourcePath("com.ust.xml.diplay") + "/xml/xxxx.xml");
        //if the component A,B,C stores the file under folder PORTAL-INF->xml
        URL urlt = new URL(request.getPrivateResourcePath("com.ust.xml.diplay") + "/xml/xxxx.xml");
         //use the below line to open the stream to file.
           url.openStream();
     } catch (Exception e){

    hello everyone!
    I have newly joined the forum as well the job.We have integrated oracle 10g XE with a bug tracker tool i.e. ITRACKER, now we want that the XML report generated by ITRACKER shud get stored in the database.
    Can anyone help me with this query as i don't have much knowledge about java and XML.
    please answer me as soon as possible

    With XE there is XML support in the database but no XQuery, JNDI, or Servlet support.
    If you give a specific example it could be helpful, here are simple write and read tests on XE;

  • Reading XML file from specific location&Storing xmldata into related tables

    I am new to xml.
    My requirement is,
    1) Get the xml file from specified location (C:\xmlfiles\ xmldata.xml)
    2)Convert xml data in clob data.
    3)store the data into related table.
    and vice-versa.
    What i did,
    a) I got the data from related tables and converted into xmlformat using SQLX
    b)converted this resultset into clob data and stored as xml file in specific location.
    It uses more then ten tables.
    All this help i got from AskTom site , thanks for that.
    Now i have to do vise-versa, i.e. i have to perform 1), 2), 3) steps........
    Please tell me proper steps to acheive it.
    Thanks in advance for giving your precious time to solve my issue.

    Have you read the"XMLDB FAQ" in this Forum?
    You could use stuff like:
    create or replace directory xmldir as C:\xmlfiles'
    declare
    xmldata xmltype;
    begin
    xmldata := xmltype(bfilename('XMLDIR','xmldata.xml'),nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8'));
      -- etc, etc your code --
      -- --> convert to clob by using for instance getclobval() function
      -- --> then insert the data in your relational table with CLOB column
      -- etc, etc your code --
    end;

  • Generating a XML file and Storing on the Presentation Server

    Hi Experts,
    I am facing a problem in generating and storing a XML file on Presentation Server.
    I am using Call Transformation as follows:
    CALL TRANSFORMATION id
    SOURCE para = t_xml[]
    RESULT XML xml_string.
    APPEND xml_string TO xml_tab.
    and then using GUID_DOWNLOAD to store the xml file on the PS.
    DATA: xml_string type string,
              xml_tab type table of string.
    now on using GUI_DOWNLOAD, i get the runtime error as Illegal Type Casting.
    On the other hand if i give the data declaration as follows, the code works fine.
    TYPES: begin of ttab,
                       line(65535) type c,
                 end of ttab.
    DATA: xml_string type string,
              xml_tab type table of ttab.
    SInce my data in INternal Table can be very large, 65535 characters are not sufficient for me.
    How do i solve this problem???
    Please help.

  • Parsing XML file & insert into Oracle Tables

    Hi,
    Following is a sample xml file which is an input for a oracle procedure :
    <Sales ID="1" CreatedDate="16-Jan-2007" CreatedTime="16:09:40">
    <Customer ID="1" Name="Scott" Address="City1">
         <Order ID="1" Date="15-Jan-2007" TotItems="2" Value="200">
              <Item ID="01" Name="Chocolate" Qty="2" Amount="80" />
              <Item ID="03" Name="Biscuit" Qty="5" Amount="120" />
         </Order>
    </Customer>
    <Customer ID="2" Name="Tiger" Address="City2">
         <Order ID="1" Date="15-Jan-2007" TotItems="1" Value="500">
              <Item ID="01" Name="Pizza" Qty="3" Amount="500" />
         </Order>
    </Customer>

    <City Code="NY" Name="New York" />
    <City Code="NJ" Name="New Jersy" />
    </Sales>
    I have individual tables for Sales, Customer, Order, Item, User & City tags with proper referential constraints. I have to parse the xml & have to insert the corresponsing tables for each & every tag if the ID in individual tag does not exists in the table. If the ID already exist, then, I have to update other attributes in the table for the corresponding ID.
    Can anyone suggest me the simplest way to perform the above said scenario?

    Dera Michael,
    Sorry for the confusing previous reply. I went through your solution again and tried for my XML File.

  • Finding and retrieving an XML file from an application and an applet

    I have a problem.
    I have data stored in an XML file. I want to be able to call that file and store it into a document object from an application standing alone on a computer as weel as from an applet that would be running over the web.
    I don't know how to do this.
    When I use a relative path name for the application it attaches the path of the folder that contains java.exe. I could do something with the class path but this wouldn't help the end user of the application on a different computer. For similar reasons I don't want to hard code because I don't know where the final applet will be stored.
    I have a table that holds, sorts and filters the data so I want the table to collect the data, I don't want to dictate the path from the applet or the application, I want a method that is consistant with both scenarios.
    Can anyone offer some advice?

    I've just finished trying it out, here is what I did:
    String xmlDocName="filename.xml";
    java.net.URL fileURL=this.getClass().getResource(xmlDocName);
    private final String fileName = fileURL.toString().substring(6);
    The substring removes the "file:/" from the URL.
    This works fine in the IDE, I have even stored the xml file in a lower folder e.g. package_folder/xml_folder/filename.xml and replaced the xmlDocName with "xml_folder/filename.xml" and it worked fine.
    I haven't tried it in an applet because I'm running IE and as you are well aware there are problems with swing and IE applets. But you answer deserves the Duke Dollars, thank you very much.

    Hi,
    extract your xml and then you can use insert all clause.
    here's very small example on 10.2.0.1.0
    SQL> create table table1(id number,val varchar2(10));
    Table created.
    SQL> create table table2(id number,val varchar2(10));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert all
      2  into table1 values(id,val)
      3  into table2 values(id2,val2)
      4  select extractValue(x.col,'/a/id1') id
      5        ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/value') val
      6        ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/value2') val2

  • How to retrieve xml file from BLOB and display on browser with css/xslt

    Hi All,
    I am new to xml. I am storing my xml file into BLOB in database. Now in my jsp page I want to retrieve this xml file from BLOB and display in HTML/CSS/XSLT form...
    Pl. guide me.. any docs..?? Logic...??
    Thanks in Advance.
    Sandeep Oza

    Hello Sandeep!
    I'm not familiar with jsp but logic should be as follows:
    -in jsp page instantiate XML parser
    -load specified BLOB into parser
    Now you may traverse the XML tree or you might load XSL file and use transform method to transform XML according to XSL file.
    I have an example where I'm selecting XML straight from relational database and then transform it using XSL into appropriate HTML output, but it's written in PSP.
    You can try http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp for basics on XML, CSS, XSL. It's easy to follow with good examples.

  • Best practice for reducing the number of XML files in an IDML file for translation?

    Our engineering team is looking for ways for us to reduce the number of XML files produced when a (relatively) simple 2-page INDD file is saved out as IDML for translation?

    IDML contains quite a few XML files, but I suspect you're only interested in the Stories folder if you're working on a translation. The way to do that is... to reduce the number of stories. If it's a two-pager, chances are that you have a whole bunch of unthreaded text frames. Thread them in logical reading order. This will help the translator(s) as well - by threading frames in logical reading order, they don't have to work to read the document in the same order as the target audience.

  • Store and load objects to XML files using DOM

    Hello everybody,
    a quick question for all of you.
    I'm designing a desktop application which requires a lot of custom objects to be stored into XML files and later reloaded from them. I'm planning to use DOM, creating an interface like this:
    public interface StorableAsDom
    // Create an object from a DOM tree
    static Object createFromDom(org.w3c.dom.Node root) throws InvalidDomException;
    // Get the DOM tree for an object
    org.w3c.dom.DocumentFragment getDomTree(org.w3c.dom.Document doc) throws DOMException;
    Then, every class which needs to be saved should implement the above interface. This way everything works fine.
    My question is: do you know any available java package which already provides similar functionalities?
    I'd like not to reinvent the wheel if I can; time is always a critical factor.
    Thanks in advance to all of you.
    Cheers
    marcocaco

    Hi,
    When I need object -xml binding, I usually have two methods -
    one for reading & one for writing (the "VOs" below stands for "Value Objects" [getters/setters & empty constructor only]):
    READ: loadXML (= XML2VOs)
    1.XML2DOM - this method can be generic
    2.DOM2VOs - populate your VOs from the DOM just obtained in 1.
    WRITE: saveXML (=VOs2XML)
    1.VOs2DOM - create a new DOM document from your VOs' fields.
    2.DOM2XML - this method can be generic
    It would be nice (but dificult & not very elegant) to make DOM2VOs & VOs2DOM generic. If such methods will be written, they should be combined with the XML2DOM & DOM2XML (resp.) & then you would have two generic methods XML2VOs & VOs2XML... (Alternativelly, you can get Sun's JAXB package which does object-xml binding but this is not part of the JDK 5)
    If what I have outlined above sounds like what you want to do, let me know if you want more details (eg. how the DOM2VOs would be implemented etc)...
