Storing selection in palette

Hi.
I'm trying to store my current selection in a palette listbox and then select the objects when the listbox item is clicked.
This is proving problematic since I can't access the specific Illustrator objects from the palette.
I've managed to get the selection using something like this:

And I'm not sure it did in the first place when I got it.

Storing SELECT list definition after AJAX call

Hi all
I redefine the options in the SELECT item via AJAX call. The application process returns string similar to <option>x1</option><option>x2</option>, which is set as SELECT item innerHTML content. Everything works fine.
The problem is that I need to switch to another page and than return back. The original page is re-rendered and the redefinition of the SELECT item options is obviously lost.
Any recommentation how to solve it simply and robustly?

I am new to oracle development and were trying to write some basic stored procedure,when i try to put a simple stored select statment in between my 'BEGIN' and 'END' clause it never let me do that,it says that 'INTO' clause is expected,I do not want to store andy specific value in any variable i just want a list of all records from that table,Is there any restriction regarding that,can't I do it,am I doing something wrong.?

This is somewhat basic.
We always have to have a receptacle for the result set. In SQL*Plus that receptacle is the screen, hence we can dispense with an explicit INTO clause. PL/SQL is a batch process which doesn't write to the screen, so we have to define variables to hold the data.
PL/SQL gives ius options. Wwe can define our SELECT statement as an explicit cursor, in case we don't need to include the INTO clause in our SELECT but we still have to FETCH the cursor INTO a record. Or we can use an implicit cursor, with an INTO clause.
Those are the rules.

Add llb to palette set

I am trying to add the llb C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\vi.lib\Utility\Queue.llb to my palette set because I really like using the simple Queue vi's for queued state machines.
Going in and editing the palette set has proven to be not as simple as one would imagine.
Going to tools-> Advanced-> Edit Palette Set
Then select user libraries (or any sub palette catagory off the main) and insert sub palette
The box pops up and I select Link to an LLB (.llb)
I navigate to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\vi.lib\Utility\ and select queue.llb
All that shows up in the palette is a generic sub palette icon that says "vi's" and it is empty
Saving it then produces an empty "?" sub palette.
How can I add this to my palette set?
I also have tried adding the llb to my favorites and the same thing happens, I get nothing...

I'm not sure I understand the difficulty you are having. When I go through the following steps, I am able to successfully add the Queue.llb to a palette of my choice.
1. Go to Tools » Advanced » Edit Palette Set
2. Select a Palette you want to modify, or Right Click in the grey space on the functions palette window, and select 'Insert Subpalette'
2b. If you selected 'Insert Subpalette', you have the option of creating a new palette file (which is the option I tested)
3. In the palette that you want to customize (the one that you want to add the Queue functions to, Right Click in the grey space, and select 'Link to an LLB (.llb)'
4. Browse to and select the queue.llb (it's the path that you specified in your post)
5. You should now have the Queue functions added as a subpalette to whatever palette you wanted to customize

Realtime controls palette in MacPro ( Bug ??)

Dears All,
Since i am using Vienna Instruments using realtime controls usually i leave opened on second monitor the Matrix window. So by SHIFT F3 a control select floating palette appear, but ( in Mac Pro ) i cant easily switch from one control to another. All time i have to SHIFT F3 for change the controller numbers.
Can anyone confirm that ?
That not happen on PPC.

What is Palette ? How to apply the palette of one image to another image ?

I'm not familiar with Paint Shop Pro - when you say palette, do you mean the Tool Menu? (shown below) You can access the workspace setup by going to the Window menu in Photoshop. Here, you can select which palette menus are visible, or organize your workspace according to what you mainly use Photoshop for. (If you are indeed looking for the Tool Menu, you can hide or show it by going to Window > Tools)
For drawing a circle, use the Elipse Tool (by default, this tool is located under the Rectangle Tool - just click and hold to select the Elipse Tool). With the Elipse Tool selected, you can change the fill color, stroke color/weight, or even change the stroke to a dashed line using the Elipse Tool setting bar, shown below.
Quick tip: hold down Shift when dragging your circle to make a perfect circle. This applies to many shape-based functions of Photoshop including crop and selection tools. You can also use this when scaling objects to keep their original proportions.

Problem with NIK "Selective Tool" not appearing in PS5

I have a problem and I am trying to track down what is the cause and how to resolve it. I installed Nik Color Efex Pro 3.110 into Photoshop CS5 (32bit) within Windows XP and the "Selective Tool" does not appear. According to everything I've read and googled about so far, this is not normal behavior. I have tried running the Automate Selective Tool to get it to run, and it does nothing either. I have also checked the registry entry bit for this and it is set to properly. The strange thing is that the plugin works properly from CS4. The OnOne plugin suite also functions properly from within CS5. Is there some known incompatibility (aside from the known 64bit issues that are not applicable in this case) with CS5 and the Nik Selective Tool palette? Where should I check for problems that might be preventing the Selective Tool from launching properly?
Just for informational purposes, this is from a fresh install of Photoshop CS5 on a new installation of Windoes XP SP3 (fully updated).

I think I found it - Application deficiency. It is the language that you are logged with. If it is not English the application is not recording the text that you type in the reason/activity fields upon FF session.
I hope the latest patches are fixing this!

How does one transfer CS5 actions for use with CS6?

CS6 installation, which was uneventful, has transferred none of my actions from my copy of CS5. The CS5 actions are located in the actions folder of the APPLICATION/PHOTOSHOP CS5/PRESETS/ACTIONS. The "actions" folder in application support/adobe in my library is empty, and has always been so.
Only the CS6 default actions are located in the same folder for CS6.
I use imac i7, lion.
Note that i also have CS3 and CS4 on my machine. This due to recent upgrade to CS5 and recent upgrade to LION, and my general paranoia.
Must i load each action into CS6, one at a time?

On a Mac - There are multiple ways to do this. I have done them both ways. In order to do this you need to know where you have your actions stored, and you can move them all at once if you have them stored in the same location.
1. You can load an action ONE AT TIME into your actions palette by:
     A. Open up the action palette and click on the little arrow with 4 little horizontal lines next to it on the upper right corner of the actions palette.
     B. Select "Load Actions" and a Finder window will open up and you can search your computer through this window for your actions.
     C. Click on the action from the Finder window then click 'Open' at the bottom right of the finder window.
     D. To save these so that they appear every time you open up your actions palette, go back to the little arrow at the top right of the actions palette and when the drop down window opens- click on 'Save Actions'. It will select the location where the          actions are currently stored as the place to save them. If you want to change that path, you can do it at this time in the little path window. I just leave it, since I keep all my actions stored in the same file.
2. TO MOVE MULTIPLE ACTION SETS AT ONCE
     A. Open up CS6 (or CS5) and move the Photoshop workspace it to the right side of your computer screen so you can see your desktop on the left side.
     B. Open up your Finder search window from your dock (the square blue head icon thingy for those who are new to photoshop). Move this to the left side of your screen so you can see the Photoshop work space on the right and the Finder window          on the left. In the Finder window, navigate to the file where all your actions are stored, select all the actions in the file (command+A will select everything in the file if you are actively inside the open file) or you can select multiple files           individually by continuously holding down the command key and clicking on the different actions you want to move.
     C. With the Photoshop workspace visible on the right, and the actions palette open so you can see that the actions actually transferred - In the Finder window, click the selected actions you want to load and drag them over to the Photoshop           workspace. I did this without an image open, I just dragged them onto the empty workspace. The actions should all appear immediately in the actions palette that is open.
     D. To save these so that they appear every time you open up your actions palette, go back to the little arrow at the top right of the actions palette and when the drop down window opens click on 'Save Actions'. It will select the location where the           actions are stored as the place to save them. If you want to change that path, you can do it at this time in the little path window. I just leave it, since I keep all my actions stored in the same file.

COLOR SEARCH

I am developing Color search for my website.In that case i have to scan the product picture( natural stone pics) and filter out the top 3 colors found in that picture and store the rgb values in database. Now from a color palette i do a search in to database and find out the results which relates to the color selected from palette.
I have done this complete work with a not a very strong algo. The algo doesnt gives the desired results when i have to macth the color selected from color palette with the colors stored in database. Its like if i have selected red then results should include all shades of only red.
can anyone guide me on this part.

Hi,
It's actually just basic maths... the length of a line.
So for any arbitrary point you pick from those stone pictures, you run down through your list of RGB colours in your palette / database.
You call the function below to work out how "close" each colour is.
You're just looking at an RGB value as a three dimensional coordinate, and calculating how close it is to another 3D coordinate.
So whichever colour has the smallest length from your choosen colour, then that colour in your palette is the best match.

HT201250 Do I need to partition my external hard drive if I'm using Time Machine and other storage?

I never used Time Machine before. I was storing select files on my external hard drive as well as using my libraries (IPhoto, ITune, IMovies) directly off of the external hard drive. That hard drive is giving me problems, so I bought a new one. I want to set up Time Machine on this one, but I also want to keep my active libraries on it. Do I need to partition the external hard drive?

You can partition the new drive, just don't make one of the partitons a TimeMachine drive, save a TM for a entire drive with more space than the boot drive as it saves "states" thus requires more room than most people expect.
I highly advise one drive to one drive for backups, and not placing too many backup eggs in one vulnerable hardware basket basically.
Drives are cheap, data is not. Hardware can fail just as often as software, so you need a multiple backup and storage stragedy to protect even against theft and fire.

Saving report as PDF and text file

Currently, I saved my report as PDF. It opens in Acrobat reader automatically when the report is executed. Is there a way for me to save it as PDF and as a text file at the same time? (without having to open the file in Acrobat reader and saving it)

You can add your PDF and TEXT file formats to a distribution list (Instead of GENERATE REPORT TO A FILE). To do this:
1. Go to your Object Navigator and highlight your report.
2. Right click on your report. Select Property Palette.
3. Select Distribution
4. You can add of of the formats that you want to print or save to the report to.
5. You will have to add Distribution Id (any number starting with 1) where you want the file to be saved (c:\my_reports\inventory.pdf), the type of file: PDF and how many copies you want: 2
6. Click OK after finishing...
To make it work ... You would highlight your report from your Object Navigator and then choose FILE-DISTRIBUTE and this will save it to all the files your specified and/or printer.

How can I get my itunes library from my old pc to my new pc?

On my old one, when I downloaded the newest version of itunes it reset my ipod nano deleting everything (everything is still in itunes just not on the ipod). So I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. It keeps saying that there are no drivers to uninstall/reinstall, doesn't work. My dad gave me another pc and I would like to know how to get the itunes library to it without having to burn eveything to cds and transfer it that way. I don't have any other apple products, but I do have a blackberry curve and a kindle fire. Could I use one of them to transfer? I appreciate any help I can get.

if youre music was in the default plcae for music to be kept (mine is C:\Users\*whatever youre name is*\Music)
and you have removable storage (flash drive or an external HDD) just go to where you have youre music stored select youre data and move it to the usb flashdrive/HD then just plug it in to the other pc and if you have itunes installed go to C:\Users\*ur username here*\Music
iTunes\ITunes Media then drag it into the automatically added to itunes folder.
this is basically the same on xp\vista\7 excpet vista\7 have "libraries" kinda just shortcuts to where the data is stored by default.

I have NetBeans IDE 5.5 and I am trying to learn how to write beans using NetBeans, and the lessons involve things I can't find or understand, for example:

Sorry, you lost me literally after "Start NetBeans", the rest is Hungarian. I can't find "New Project Wizard"; I can't find "List of Projects", I can't find anything they are talking about nor do I know if any of this is relevant toward my learning how to write beans.

"Inspecting Properties" seems impossible to do because the Inspector Window only shows a closed folder and nothing else ever. I can't figure out this part of the tutorial either.
Can someone please explain this 3rd-grade-level to me: How to create a bean using NetBeans?

Phil,
Before you embark on another very frustrating advanture using NetBeans, please go t hrough the NetBeans tutorial. The "New Project Wizard" is just select from the menu options -- "New Project". The "Hungarian" as you put it will not get better until you spend some time learning NetBeans. Learning something new, like beans, is frustrating enough, but to try to do it and use a tool that is not familiar may be beyond many individuals frustration level.
