Story Plus goes mobile? Shot Lister the way to go?
Hi,
I'm sure many of us are familiar with the 'Shot Lister' App for iOS (http://www.shotlister.com/ ).
Now they really now their craft, live mode is incredible and so is mobile editing your schedule of course.
Adobe, how about getting in contact with that guy and acquiring this sweet piece of software? Incorporate into the free Story iOS app, absolutely fine with making that bit work only with a paid Story Plus subscription.
Writing everywhere is a good thing and I'm sure will be great once the iOS app gets closer to the desktop functionality. Tying scheduling close to the script proofs to be a fantastic approach, now let's get that through to true mobile.
Any vague hints on roadmap plans on this? Pretty please? ^^
Anyway, what do you guys think? What would you like to see in a real Story Plus mobile app? Do you use Shot Lister today? Like it? In conjunction with Story? How? What's your workflow?
Some real world examples might prove helpful getting the right feature set down for future Story Plus, so here you go...

It is unfortunate that Adobe guys are busy doing things other than what the customer/market needs.
Shot Lister should have come from Adobe. Now that it is late to initiate it, you (Adobe) better come up with similar or buy it and integrate with Adobe Story, because during the weeks of the shoot Adobe Story is truly useless to track what is happening.
Adobe Story dies one minute before we start shooting, we are we using it at all if it cannot help track progress of what has been planned.

Adobe Story integration with OnLocation - Shot List
I'm trying to export a script from Adobe Story and import it into OnLocation but I can't seem to get 'shot' elements made in Story to become 'shot placeholders' in OnLocation. All I've been able to get OnLocation to recognize is entire scenes, but not elements into individual shot placeholders.
Does Story/OnLocation support drafting a shotlist in Story and turning into shot placeholders in OnLocation? Is there any news on some of the potential features mentioned in this thread about shot elements that are linked or layered in some way so you don't have to maintain multiple documented for shot lists and screenplays?
slAs of right now shots entered in Story do not end up as shot placeholders in OnLocation. We only support converting Scenes->shot placeholders.
We see your point though and add it to the list of things to do.

i go into my ipod messageing click on who i wont to send a message to i send like hi and it goes 90% of the way waits a bit still says sending then fails the other person say that they sent one to me exact id i dont get it same with facetime i go to use it they accept it says connecting and it doesnt connect please can anyone help its soo frustrating

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever. -
I can't login to my user account. I can type in my password, but the loading screen only makes it 1/3 of the way through before my computer shuts off. I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10 on an 11-inch 2010 MacBook Air.
Not sure if it's relevant, but I seem to be having some graphical issues as well. When I scroll, text is sometimes jittery, and the corners of windows are black squares.
I've tried going to Recovery Mode and reinstalling OS X, but it tells me there isn't enough space — I have approximately 11 GB free, and it says I need 2 GB more.Make sure you have the Current Version of iTunes Installed on your computer

Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
After you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

Note. Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery... -
itunes wont completly download and install. it starts downloading goes thru most of the download then a pop up error message says itunes couldnt be configured and tells me to press finish and it closes

Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply. -
Since the upgrade my phone will not send iMessage to other iPhones. I can send from my iPad. When I try and send the message sends 3/4 of the way and then stops and does not send at all

I have just now tried the Reinstall via iTunes, about 20 into the download, the iTunes logo on the phone disappeared, and the Apple Logo appeared again,,, I waited until the iTunes stated that the download had finished, and the install was in progress,,,
Nothing happened, still the Apple Logo was visual on the screen, iTunes never recognised the phone which it was on my iTunes account previously,,,
Still just a bunch of lines, maybe 5 or 6 so small writing,, I personally can not read what it is telling me, someone said it reads, incorrect shutdown,,,????????

I'm new to keynotes and I'm trying to salvage several powerpoint presentations. I can't control my slide presentations by clicking to change slides and/or for transitions within the slides. I'm sure there's an answer but I can't find it. Can someone please give me directions.
Show the Inspector; view > show inspector
to run a presentation using manual control:
Inspector > Document: set Presentation to Normal
many transitions set in PowerPoint are not available in Keynote; to set the transition options:
Inspector > Slide > Transition

Creative Cloud member, can't access Story Plus
I'm downloading work apps on my home computer, both Mac. I can get everything else Creative Cloud allows, and have successfully downloaded several other programs, but can't get Story Plus.
I've tried the solutions on this forum and none of them work.
Who can I contact or what can I try to get Plus?When I am at creative.adobe.com/apps, I can't download Story like I can any other app (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier were all successful).
I attempt to sign in after clicking the Learn More link and I am only signed into the Free version.
Going through story.adobe.com produces the same results.
In either instances, I've tried clearing my cache/cookies, and logging out and back in again, and a combination of both. Still only getting into Free and unable to download (if download is an option? If not, just can't get into Free). -
How to organize songs the way I want!!
Ok, bear with me:
I hate the way songs are organized in Itunes. I wanted to be able to go in Songs and have everything alphabetized by artist and then song like this:
John Lennon - Imagine.
Or by titles I create like: 80's - Europe - Final Countdown.
Now, if I ever have tag info, Itunes organizes by song name only in the song list. So basically, my solution was to delete ALL tag info so that songs show up as they do on my computer. This works well for navigating to songs in the song list but then I can't have anything organized by album or artist.
My problem is this: I'd like to be able to go into Albums and/or Artists and have bands organized there as well in case I just want listen from those (potential) lists, as well as having files organized by artist-song name in Songs. In a perfect world, I'd be able to add full albums into Albums and either not have them listed at all under songs (probably not possible) or have them list the way I want in Songs: artist dash song.

Is there some way to add multiple addresses to an email I am sending that doesn't close the contact list after I click on an address? This necessitates constantly going back to click the + sign to add each address separately. Is there some way I can open the contact list, click on all of the individual addresses to which I want to send the email without the list closing between each address entry, and have all of my address entries be listed to the email at one time? Something like it works in Gmail. I do not want to use set lists, I want to enter different addresses each time I send an email. And I am a very slow typist, so I don't want to type the first few letters of each recipient's name. It is much faster for me to just click on the e-mail addresses in the list as a group. It doesn't make any sense to me to have to reopen the contact list for each address, when it should be so easy to click on all of the addresses I want at one time and then click once to add them all to the email as a group. If there is a solution to this, please tell me. Thanks.

Try this:
1. Select Mail>File>New Message.
2. Select Mail>Window>Address Panel.
3. Use (command+click) on the desired addressees in the Address Panel to create the list.
4. Click "To:" on the top left of the Address Panel.
The group that you selected will be added to the "To" field in your New Message. -
It's set appropriately in settings, the volume is turned up all the way with the side buttons, but no volume. When we try to play songs, it acts like it's going to play and then goes back to the play list. Restored the device and still no sound.
Try A and B
(A) Restart iPad
1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
2. Drag the slider to turn off iPad.
3. Turn iPad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears
(B) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected. -
Can't Share Doc or Open Lists - Signed into my Story Plus Account
Hello again Adobe Story Team.
Currently, the options to "Share" and access lists such as "Character List" and "Set List" are greyed out in my Adobe Story, and therefor I am unable to select them. This is the case both in my Desktop App as well as the web version.
I am currently logged in to my Adobe Story Plus account. I've already shared my current document; I've been able to access these features before. What has changed? Am I missing something?

How do I make attachments I receive in mail appear at the top of my messages? Sometimes they are imbedded all the way at the bottom of an on going discussion and I don't even realize that there is an attachment.
If someone sends you an attachment, it's going to show up where they attached it in their message to you.
Messages with attachments show a paper clip icon in two places, in the middle column of the Mail window, next to the senders name, and next to the sender's name at the top of the message itself.
One way to make messages with attachments show more clearly is to create a Mail Rule, like this:
By setting a colored background to the messages that contain attachments, they'll stand out pretty clearly in the message list.
Note that there are several different types of attachments in the dropdown menu (where you see Document and PDF above). Keep pressing the plus sign to add different attachment types to your rule so that all will stand out on your list of messages. -
Yesterday I had to update my iTunes, but there was a problem. I don't remember the problem exactly, but it was something along the lines of a certain file not being there or something. Then today I wanted to open iTunes to listen to something and it wouldn't open, so I decided to try and reinstall it. I was able to uninstall everything except for the Apple Mobile Device Support. With that one the bar fills and then when it's almost done it depletes again. Now I'm stuck with not being to install iTunes or do anything there and when trying to download iTunes again it gives me the option to save iTunesSetup.exe but then nothing is saved or downloaded.
Adding to the above, there seems to be something odd about the way the download is triggered on the iTunes download page. Firefox in particular doesn't seem to like it. Try clearing your browser's cache, changing pop-up blocker settings, using an alternate browser. or these direct links:
iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit)
iTunes64Setup .exe (64-bit)
I got the links by intercepting the download requests from Softpedia's iTunes page. If they don't work try going there. The files themselves are hosted at apple.com.

[resolved] filter / delete files the way rsync uses its exclude list?
edit: discovered the "--delete-excluded" - option for rsync just minutes after posting this question. rsyncing the backup to its parant directory with that option added seems to do the job.
edit: No, it doesn't. It just pretends to do the job, but doesn't really seem to delete the files.
edit: Oh god, I had --backup still activated. It did work - it just made another backup into another sub directory every time I tried. Now to clean up that mess....
edit: AND also "-b" was still in there. Will I ever learn from my mistakes?

After updating my list of rsync excludes to be more accurate over the last weeks, I have a lot of trash still stuck in the old backups / increments. I'd like to delete those, that whould have been excluded by rsync using the new exclude file / list. Can't really find a good method, though.
To get the list of files, that...:
for expression in $(cat /home/user/scripts/backup.exclude); do find /media/BACKUP/ -regex ".*$expression.*"; done;
... seems to differ from the way rsync handles the expressions when it comes to regex special characters (*./) ... not sure how rsync does it exactly, but it works.
Is there anything that handles that better? Maybe use rsync in a way I didn't think of (sync folder with itsself in some way) or something?

Last edited by whoops (2011-03-11 12:51:57)I use the combination of "--exclude-from" and "--delete" switch to keep all the garbage folders from my backups.
But it took a while to figure out the syntax to use in the file the "--exclude-from" switch references. Funny how that important piece of information is never covered in any of the tutorials I could find on rsync out there. Only this past week-end did I finally figure it out.
I had been putting absolute paths into that file for folders I didn't want to back up, for example "/home/me/.thumbnails/normal/*", but that folder kept getting backed up anyway. Finally I paid more attention to the output on the screen going by during the backup and saw that rsync considered that folder to be named ".thumbnails/normal/". Once I put ".thumbnails/normal/*" into the excluded files list, and all the other folders on separate lines accordingly, I finally achieved what I was looking for -- none of my "garbage" folders were being backed up and any file not found in my source folders were deleted from the target folders.
You didn't post the switches you were using for rsync but here's what mine looks like:
rsync -avr --exclude-from=/home/me/bin/exclude_from_backup.txt --delete /home/me/ /media/backup/home/me/
