Strange assembly reference error...wrong version?

I'm using Crystal Reports with Visual Studio 2005 and I get an error when I try to run my app that says: "The type
initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.ReportSourceFactory'
threw an exception." with an InnerException of "The type initializer
for 'CrystalDecisions.Shared.SharedUtils' threw an exception.".I'm pretty sure this is due to the version and targeted runtime of the assemblies. When I first created my "Crystal Reports Application" the references that are added are as follows:CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.EngineCrystalDecisions.Enterprise.FrameworkCrystalDecisions.Enterprise.InfoStoreCrystalDecisions.ReportSourceCrystalDecisions.SharedCrystalDecisions.Windows.FormsBut for some reason the Framework and InfoStore assemblies are version 9.2.3300.0 and target the v1.0 .Net runtime, while the rest of the dlls are 10.2.3600.0 and target the v2.0 runtime.If I delete those two references, they will automatically be re-added when I create another report or drag a Crystal Reports component onto a form. And these re-added references will be the correct version of 10.2.3600.0, but in the properties window, it still says they target the v1.0 .Net runtime.Anyone know what's going on here? How can I get the 10.2.3600.0 version of these two assemblies, and have them target the v2.0 runtime?

'Color' Assembly reference error
Hey, I get this error: "The type or namespace name 'Color' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)"
I tried google but cant find anything related to a 'Color' assembly reference.If you see some ‘using’ directives at the beginning of the file, then add this one:
using System.Drawing;
If now you receive other errors, perhaps caused by missing assembly, then show them.
Thank you for your reply!
"using System.Drawing;" was already there
when I got the error.

HttpConfiguration assembly reference error
We developed Asp.net MVC application using .net 4.5 in VS2012 then later We decided to recompile in .net 4.0 by changing Target framework in project properties. Now we are getting error like
"Error 1036 The type or namespace name 'HttpConfiguration' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) " in WebApiConfig.cs file.
System.Web.Http.dll is (default) referenced from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 4\Assemblies\System.Web.Http.dll" and ''HttpConfiguration" class is appears
in blue color, I mean it resolves (see below attached image) when we goto definiation but throws error.
Please share your suggestions to fix this issue.ThanksHello,
Thank you for your post.
I am afraid that the issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses
WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
and Visual Studio Editor.
Since you are working with ASP.NET MVC Application, I suggest that you can consult your issue on ASP.NET forum:

for better solution and support.

Google.Apis assembly reference error
I have created a custom log in page for an on premise SharePoint 2013 site. I have then added logic to use Google's authentication
to log in to the SharePoint site. When I build the project I am getting this error: error
CS0012: The type 'Google.Apis.Services.BaseClientService' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'Google.Apis, Version=1.8.1.31687, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.
I have added this reference. Also I have added the reference to my GAC. When I double click the error it takes me to this part of the code: private PlusService ps = null; but I do not get any red marks or errors on the line in the code, only in the output
window. I have used the code Google gives as a sample and I have downloaded the api references from nuget as Google suggests. Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone come across this before? Thanks in advance.Hi,
According to the error message, the project did not reference the assembly “Google.Apis”.
I suggest you do as the followings:
1. Make sure you have referenced the namespace in the page.
2. You can move the dll file to the SharePoint Site Bin folder directory and try if it works.
3. Check if the assembly has been installed properly in the default location.
%windir%\Microsoft.NET\assembly
Feel free to reply with the test result.
Best regards

I have created a ASP.NET web Site (not Web application), using Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate and "SQL Server Compact 4.0 Local Database" in my C# Code.
I am able to successfully compile & publish the website to another IIS Web Server, with Operating System Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. I can even test, successfully, this website on the machine I developed it in.
I am publishing the website, from within Visual Studio, to a Network web server running IIS. To Publish I am using Build-> "Publish Web Site". In the Publish Profile, I am using Web Deploy Method. Even though I am using, successfully,
"SQL Server Compact 4.0 Local Database" in my website, the "settings" (in Publish Profile) does not detect any Databases in the project. Which may not be a problem.
When I try to bring up the web site on the IIS Web Server machine I get the following error..
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies .
As my project is a Web Site, not Web Site Application, I do not have a references node in the Solution Explorer. I think the System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll, which is type GAC in my project, is not getting published to the webserver, which is causing this Error.
Can I copy this .dll over manually ? If yes, where to put on the ISS Web Server ? I do not see any bin folder.
Any help to resolve this error will be appreciated.
diana4Hello.. I went ahead and created web application project and have gone past that error. But I have a new error now
System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException: Unable to load the native components of
SQL Server Compact corresponding to the ADO.NET provider of version 8876.
Install the correct version of SQL Server Compact. Refer to KB article 974247
for more details.
Compiling and Publishing (Deployment) are both successful
In my project, when adding reference to SQL Server Compact Edition , there are 2 possible locations to reference the DDL from:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v4.0\Private
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v4.0\Desktop.
I have tried both. I get the same error as shown above.
Interestingly, in My WebConfig, I do not see any reference to System.Data.SqlServerCe.
Yet, the Website works when I click on Ctrl+F5

Deploy errors when deploying reports having external assembly references
Hi,
I’m trying to move our Reporting Services files into the new BI Report Server Project in VS2010 / Data Tools 2012. This project type seems to work well - except that I’m having problems using the deploy functionality for reports with references to external
.Net assemblies. No matter how I try, deploy function results in errors even though I can manually upload my reports (using Report Manager web interface) and successfully execute them.
Using a simple test report, containing nothing else than a textbox with the following expression:
=TimeZoneInfo.ConvertTime(DateTime.Now, TimeZoneInfo.Local, TimeZoneInfo.FindSystemTimeZoneById("Central Standard Time"))
and a reference to a version 3.5 System.Core dll (set in report properties->References) like this:
System.Core, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089
deploying this report results in an error “The definition of the report '/Report1' is invalid.”. Preview (using .Net 4) doesn’t work as “[BC30560] ‘TimeZoneInfo’ is ambiguous in the namespace ‘System’”. However, a manual upload via Report Manager yields no
errors and works fine.
If I Remove the reference to System.Core I get another deploy error “The Value expression for the textrun ‘Textbox1.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: [BC30451] Name 'TimeZoneInfo' is not declared” which I guess makes sense since TimeZoneInfo
is not part of .net 2.0 which seems to be used by the Report Server. But, removal of the this System.Core reference makes preview in SSRS work again.
It seems like the deploy functionality if SSRS/Data Tools doesn’t consider the external report references, but preview does. Has anyone worked around this? I’d really like to use the deploy functionality. Also, using SQL Server 2012, is it not possible to have
report server using a later CLR version than 2.0 for expressions and custom code?
Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Version 10.0.40219.1 SP1Rel
SQL Server 2012
Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools 10.3.20225.0
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Designers Version 11.0.2100.60
ThanksHi,
I'm having the exact same problems.
I even tried copying the System.Core 4.0 DLL to %PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin. In that case, I get the following error when attempting to deploy the report to my local report server instance:
Error 1 Error while loading code module: ‘System.Core, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089’. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Core, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'
or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
If anyone has any idea how to resolve this, please help.
Thanks! -

I started getting this error message for the first time today. When I look in the event log I see it every time anyone tries to sync to a mobile device to the exchange server. I've also had this problem trying to connect using
Outlook. I believe it is an IIS issue but I'm not absolutely sure so I'm posting this in the Exchange forum as well.
The event viewer has the following information...

I have tried most, if not all, of the different post's suggestions to no avail.
The steps I have taken are as follows...
1. Repaired .Net 4 (Both the client and extended)
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled .Net Framework 4.0.
3. Verified that the dll exists.
4. Checked the applicationHost.config file. It contains the follow statement...
<add name="ServiceModel-4.0" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.ServiceHttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0"
/>
5. Changed the following line in web.config to include the runtimeVersion...
<add name="ServiceModel" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0" />
6. Executed aspnet_regiis.exe -iru from the ...\Framework64\v4.0.30319 directory.
7. Went to inetpub\history to use an applicationHost.config file from yesterday but it only has history from 9PM tonight. It probably had what I needed before I started changing it tonight.
I still receive the same error message.
Like I said everything was working yesterday. In fact I didn't hear or see any issue until after 1PM today.
Any help would be very appreciated!Hi,
Please confirm whether users can access their mailboxes from Outlook Web Access or not. We can do the following changes to have a try:
1. In IIS > Application Pools, change the .NET Framework Version to v2.0 and restart IIS service.
2. If it doesn’t work, explore the Default Web site.
3. Renamed the web.config file to web.config.old
4. Reset IIS using iisreset command to have a try.
Thanks,

Error while receivind a pdu - wrong version grrr
Hi,
I work on Solaris 8.0 and I installed SDK toolkit. I wrote my own subagent starting with the demoAgent into the toolkit.
I created X.acl and X.reg
Also, I configured into snmpdx.acl my traps exactly like I did into my X.acl
I started snmpdx in debug mode (-d 4) and from another window I started my subagent X
I receive this error from snmpdx agent:
error while receiving a pdu from hostname.164: The message has a wrong version (2)SESSIONS:
Where hostname is the name of my hostname hehe.
Any clues?
Thanks

Hello experts,
I'm totally new to C#. I'm trying to modify existing code to automatically rename a file if exists. I found a solution online as follows:
string[] allFiles = Directory.GetFiles(folderPath).Select(filename => Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(filename)).ToArray();
string tempFileName = fileName;
int count = 1;
while (allFiles.Contains(tempFileName ))
tempFileName = String.Format("{0} ({1})", fileName, count++);
output = Path.Combine(folderPath, tempFileName );
string fullPath=output + ".xml";
However, it gives the following compilation errors
for the Select and Contain methods respectively.:
'System.Array' does not contain a definition for 'Select' and no extension method 'Select' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Array' could be found
(are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
'System.Array' does not contain a definition for 'Contains' and no extension method 'Contains' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Array' could be
found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I googled on these errors, and people suggested to add using System.Linq;
I did, but the errors persist.
Any help and information is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I am trying to download the latest 10.0 itunes, however I keep getting this error message. I have a new iphone 4s so when I plugged it into the laptop it said i need to uninstall and reinstall the latest itunes.
I contacted support which they advised me to uninstall the itunes on my dell laptop, which I have done however I keep getting the same error message. "An error occured during the assembly "Microsoft VC80.CRT, version =8.0.50727.4053",type ="win32",publickey Tokens="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",process orArchitecture="x86". Please refer to help and support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD.
Please can you advise on what best to do? The laptop is a 32bit windows 7.HRESULT: 0x800736FD.
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736fd, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?) -
I received the above error reinstalling SQL Server 2008. I have tried all suggestions. This error also appears when I install any version of SQL Server.
I have also installed;
