Strange problem--tomcat not showing pages.....

hi friends,
Today morning-on i started encountering a strange problem of tomcat not showing the pages in the browser.
When i startup the tomcat it starts up fine without any warnings or alert messages.
But when i access the web pages/jsps that i want to view, it is showing a blank white page without any trail for me to findout what went wrong.
And on analysis, i found out that catalina_log.2003-09-16.txt had the follwing error messages.

Of course this is the message of a freshly installed server, as all the known tricks to show up the pages failed, i did for more than 4 times the reinstallation of tomcat.the version i am using is 4.1.24.I have already put the same server with apache on window OS in the production server.Now the testing is going on for the site.
How can i make the tomcat work properly to show the pages smoothly.Any developer friend can please help me?

Why is Safari not showing pages correctly ?

Hi there !
I'm having a little Safari 5 trouble.
Safari is not showing page layouts correctly, it seems it is not recognizing / reading css at all. Not one site shows correctly !
Whereas Firefox has no problem at all.
On Safari, I had diverse small extensions and Glims (but I had those for a while and nothing like this ever happened - only the occasional crash).
Also, I tried reinstalling Safari entirely. No change.
What do you think can be causing this ?

As for the extensions, go to Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Turn that OFF. Quit Safari (Command + Q) Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference.
Try resetting Safari. From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
If nothing above has helped, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. If Safari loads pages as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.

How to not show pages in the Site Map

This is probably the easiest question of them all... but...
How do you not show pages in the site map?
It seems that by default, all pages are added to the sitemap.
Is it a case of unchecking "enabled" and checking "exclude from search results" under "More Options" on the page itself?
Or another way?

Hi David,
The "exclude from search result" will remove from the sitemap.xml "yoursite.com/sitemap.xml" and from major search engines from being picked up. If you tick this option please allow for a few hours to have the xml to reflect the changes.
"If you select this option then this web page will be excluded from the site search feature built into this system as well as from the sitemap.xml file submitted to the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Live."
The sitemap module found under site settings is not related to the xml file so you'll need to manually remove and insert onto your page if using this feature.

When normally powering the phone, there would not be a loading bar, you would just see the Apple logo. You can try a reset of the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.
You can take the phone to Apple, by making an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the hardware checked. Apple handles warranty and post-warranty issues, not Verizon. Have Apple look at the hardware to see if there are any problems.

Table of contents will not show page numbers

I have a 1000+ page document which has a TOC which is broken upon installing Snow Leopard. There were no issues with it prior SL, anyway. The TOC is built correctly, according to Help and the Manual. What I get is a list of items for the TOC, but no page numbers. The page numbers should be checked to act as links. The odd thing is that when I highlight the TOC the place for the page numbers gets selected. So clearly there is something where the numbers should be, but it is not visible, nor is it clickable. Copying and pasting the TOC to TextEdit also shows the same thing--something's there, just not a page number.
Help is much appreciated.

Here, under Snow 10.6.1, the TOC behaves well so you have something wrong on your system.
Check that you have installed the upgrade to Pages 4.0.2
Check that Pages (as well as Numbers and Keynote) are correctly stored in the Applications:iWork '09 folder
Quit/close the application(s)
Run Disk Utilities to repair permissions.
It would be interesting to run Coktail to repair several other system files but Coktail is not free.
Try to run Pages from an other user account. If it behave well from this one, we will know that the odddity is in your user account.
Drag the iWork preferences files on the desktop then restart the application(s)
Restart Pages.
If it behaves well, the problem was a corrupted preferences file.
Some problems where reported with fonts.
So it would be a good idea to disable third party fonts AND Hoefler Text.
But I assume that you don't use this one in your 1000 pages document.
After that, let us know the results.

Help please.. .iweb will not show pages anymore

have 2 different full sites built and have had no problem in iweb 09.. until now. had moved pages and was publishing back to folder when . . . . it wouldn't publish... then i went to open pages in iweb and it will not show any pages or any site. i can open iweb, but the directory will not come up...
even tried to restore the application .... no go.... i now have 2 sites and, oh, about 25-plus pages lost somewhere..
any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and see if there's any improvement.
If that doesn't help continue:
6 - move the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
7 - launch iWeb, create a new test site and save.
8 - go to the your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
9 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
10 - launch iWeb and try again.

Strange Problem - Iview not shown in PCD

Hi Experts
I am facing a strange problem .
I have a PAGE and Inside which it has an IVIEW ( a BW IView ) ... I am abel to edit iView properties inside the page . but... I am not abel to locate the IView in the PCD .
I tried the following
1)found delta links for the page ..I saw iview embedded under page in the delta link view ..when i right clicked the iView i see "view properties" I am not seeing "locate in portal catalog" in the right click menu.
2) I tried searching the entire PCD by the iView ID .I didnt find any...
is the IView corrupted ? or hidden in the PCD ? if so how to unhide it ?
I need to find it out as the BW iView added to the page is displaying the report at all .
any help please ?

Hi,
   You shouldn't click on the iView displayed under the page. But on the only iView displayed as Source. Then Locate option will appear.
If page is A and iView is B, trace link will be

-- iVIew B (Don't click on this)
If Source itself doesn't appear, then it couldn't be delta linked iView but copied one. In that case, you may have to edit iView from inside page only. Select iView under page and click Edit.

Print preview window not showing page to be printed

My wife and I just downloaded Firefox to our new Macbook Airs with Lion. The small preview box in the print layout widow does not show the page being previewed. In addition, the selected print windows are not holding from print session to print session.
I love Firefox on my old Mac, so please help us resolve this problem.

Sean, I was importing directly from the camera to Lightroom. I might add that I have been using this same procedure for a couple of years now and only within the past few weeks have the problems come up and if I made some change somewhere along the line I certainly have no idea what the change was. As I have mentioned before in some of this forums communications, when I imported directly from a card reader outside of the camera, everything was just as it should be and yet up to a couple of weeks ago, I could import directly either from the camera or a reader card with the same perfect results. (This is from my Canon XTi as I do not have a card reader yet for the G10) I would assume a card reader will work as well for the G10 and so I have ordered one and hopefully this will be a rather simple solution to the problem. As John had indicated in one of his messages he occasionally liked to import directly from the camera and I echo that as I do also.

"FFB" Problem -Elements Not Showing

I'm creating a site using the "Full Browser Method."
I've gone through the forum & google before posting. I've
also done Lee's tutorial at GoToLearn. It's great for tiling
backgrounds.
1.) What's the standard size for "FFB" I'm currently using
1280x800. I'm using a image for my background what size should that
be?
2.) I've gotten my background to fill the browser but a lot
of my elements are getting clipped. For example I drew a bar a the
bottom of my stage and typed some text. When I go to publish the
.html it doesn't show it gets clipped.
3. My main objective is to load my "bg.swf" at level 0 using
the "FFB" method, then my "content.swf" at level 1 and my
"navigation.swf" at level 2. Do I need to have all my other "swf's
be published with the "FFB" method or justt my main flash movie
which is my "navigation.swf" How can I accomplish this. What will I
need to do and where shall I place my actions scripts?
I'm on a MAC intel using Flash 8 Pro. I have a basic
understanding of AS2

When you insert Flash into a page using DW 8.2 it now creates
a
'scripts' file in your local site folder. You have to upload
that
'scripts' folder to your server, otherwise the Flash will not
work.

Strange problem on JDialog show method

I have a strange problem on JDialog. I have a swing application, using JDK1.3, eclipse 2.1.3 as my developing tool. I have a dialog extends from JDialog, which is supposed to pop up for "yes" and "no" choice. Everything works fine if I invoke the application from "debug" mode. However, if I invoke the application from "run" mode, everything works fine if I use mouse clicking, but if I just using keyboard input, the dialog works fine first time, but after the first time show up, the dialog seems accept the "Enter" key automatically somewhere, so that the dialog closed immediately after "show" method is called, before I got a chance to press any key. And the dialog select "yes" automatically.
Really appreciated if anyone has any clue.

The problem seems like that a keyevent was not consumed by the other GUI component. In my above swing application, I have a combobox, by using keyboard only, after I choose an item in combobox and press "Enter" key, the dialog is supposed to be popped up with "Yes" and "No" choice.
The problem seems like that:
1. the combobox has keyPressed() defined (with keyReleased() empty);
2. the following dialog class has keyReleased() defined (with keyPressed() empty);
3. So, after press "Enter" key in combobox, KEY_PRESSED event is consumed by combobox in its keyPressed() but KEY_RELEASED event is not consumed for some reasons I don't know, which causes the problem that the dialog's method keyReleased() is trigged automatically by that event. And, after I move those logic in dialog class from keyReleased() to keyPressed() everything works fine.
However, I'm still not very sure why that KEY_RELEASED event is not consumed by the combobox (I did define an empty keyReleased() method in combobox)? Or it may come from other reason?
Really appreciated if anyone can clarify me on that issue.

HTML Signature Problem - Images not showing

Hi all,
I've got some HTML signatures that I use in Mail (v4.3) on Snow Leopard (10.6.4). They were created quite a while ago and have been working fine. BUT... I need to update them to change some of the information. So, I went through the usual rigamarole:
- Edit the HTML file
- Open the HTML file in Safari (v5.0.2)
- Save the file as a webarchive from Safari
- Find the appropriate file in the ~/Library/Mail/Signatures folder
- Replace the file with the new webarchive (renamed)
When I do this, now, Mail will not show the image that I have in the signature (which is a background image placed in the file using CSS and referenced as a URL from my web server).
Does anyone know why the old signature (created the same way, but using an old version of Mail & Safari) works... but doing it all over again using the current version doesn't?

Anything you paste in the HTML is your responsibility. iWeb doesn't care about it. If it doesn't work, too bad.
Perhaps Posterous doesn't like to be displayed.
Ask them.
And instead of pasting garbage (not pretty stock standard) you may want to consider using proper code :

"Let others send fax through this computer" - problem: modem not showing up

I have a macbook that does not have an internal modem for faxing. I am using another networked mac in our office that has an internal modem for faxing. I have set up the printing and fax preferences to "let others send faxes through this computer" on the mac that can fax. It has worked in the past, but this morning when I went to fax from my macbook, I cannot see the modem in the mac that can fax. I have also checked with other macs in the office and they can't see it either. Network is okay, I can access the computer through connect to server, I have repaired permissions, restarted and still no modem showing up or shared printers showing up. I have not updated anything on the mac that can fax. Any ideas?

Strange, not sure why it's not showing up.
Have you confirmed that the fax printer is working on the host Mac? Maybe try turning off the sharing and deleting the existing Fax Printer in the Fax List with /Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility, and creating the Fax Printer again, and turn on sharing again.

Open with menu does not show pages

When i download email with a pdf attachment, i want to open it in pages. The open with dropdown has 8 choices, but does not include Pages? How do
I edit what appears in this drop down?

Pages does not open .PDF files. TO do so you will need iBooks which is an Apple app that is free in the app store.

ICloud sync problems, documents not showing up

I uploaded a few documents on to my iCloud drive from my Mac 1.
I can see them from My Mac 1 and from iCloud.com but cannot from my other Macs.
Documents were uploaded in the morning and am checking at night, still no signs.
Is there a access or sync issue for showing documents across all your devices ?

Ok got it to work. I went and created another folder just a dummy one on my Mac which was not showing it.
And eureka it synced immediately and showed up all the docs.
Sync bug !!!!!
