Streaming Audio Lagging (Unusual Bug)

I have a swf, which loads external movies, each external
movie has its own layer in the time line which contains an audio
file, the audio is not being used with actionscript, it is just
sitting there and plays with the "stream" option enabled in the
properties bar.
What I have found is that, when going from one scene to the
next scene within the loaded swf, the audio will overlap, that is,
the audio doesn't finish when it is supposed to, or the audio for
the next scene will play before the current scene is finished.
Has anyone encountered this problem before, or, have they
found a way or know a way to fix this? Perhaps something could be
done to 'sync' the audio with the timeline at the end of every
scene, maybe some function could be called that gets the audio and
does something to it to make it re-sync?
I am really out of ideas. I have tried getting the next scene
to have a delay of 9-15 frames, and that seems to have worked, but
what happens is if I am running the swf, then open an app up or do
something that uses a lot of cpu power, the flash file that is
running will start to lag from that point onwards. Now, if the
program or process that I was running in the background is now
closed or goes away , the lag in flash remains! Even for new scenes
that I use or even new loaded swf files, the lag stays! I close the
swf, reopen it and the lag is still there, I close flash, and
reopen flash, then test hte movie out again, and the lag is still
there.
If you don't run another intensive process in the background,
or open another application, the audio doesn't lag and everthing
works fine.
If anyone has any idea's about this, please share.
BTW, I use an Athlon XP2600+ and the CPU usage is low when
running this swf file...

Ah I understand. Well here's what I managed to HUNT down
This issue was posted on this very forum on April 15th which can be found HERE.
If you look at reply #3 you can see that member has the same computer I had (HP desktop with beats audio).
I remember trying what he suggested and it actually worked...for a small while.
When the issue came back, I continually tried to enable/disable the Beats audio in hopes of fixing the issue.
Sometimes it would work immediately. Other times it wouldn't work at all.
The member in post #3 is probably right in that this may be related to the audio driver on some computers.
Now, I just got a Dell XPS8700 and I haven't gotten the issue yet.
Of course I've only been using it for a day or so but so far so good.
The HP desktop I was using is going to my friend.
He will be using it to work on our show so essentially he'll have to deal with the headache lol.
What bothers me the most is that I get these Flash CC updates pretty often and each time I think it's fixed, it's not.
To add insult to injury when you get a Flash CC update through Adobe CC you'll see a link below the update that you would THINK would show you the changes that were made but it doesn't...it just goes to the default Flash CC webpage...sigh.
I personally think it's down right hilarious that so many paying customers could have an issue like this and Adobe just sits back and counts their money.
Guess our cries for help are being drowned out by the money counting machines...

  • Bug: OS 4.5 Media Player does not allow BB screen to shut off when playing streaming audio

    I updated my Verizon Pearl 8130 to OS 4.5.  Now, when streaming audio from a station such as "Groove Salad" at http://www.somafm.com, the screen does not shut off but stays on indefinitely, wasting precious battery power.  OS 4.3 Media Player did allow the screen to turn off when streaming audio.

    I have a similar issue since upgrading to to 4.5 with my vzw 8130.   with 4.3 I was able to stream audio and then have it run in the background to read messages or address book for example all the while the audio was still playing.   Now once I get the audio streaming and back out to the main menu the media player quits.

    I loaded OS 4.5 on my Verizon 8130.  When attempting to initiate streaming of the Groove Salad 64 kb station at http://www.somafm.com sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  I have had these various results when it did not work:
    BB rebooted
    Received a java language null pointer exception
    Received a java error message that indicated an array index was out of range
    RIM can you please fix this?  Thanks,

  • Droid Razr Bug.  Won't play streaming audio from websites.

    My Droid Razr won't play streamed audio from a website and won't play .wav files attached to e-mails.  That's annoying.
    Motorola tech support said problem will be fixed upon next upgrade of Android OS.
    My phone is currently running Android OS 2.3.5.
    Does anyone now of a quicker fix?
    Does anyone know when an OS upgrade will be available for the Droid Razr?
    Thx!

    i got the same issue on my ipod. i figured the whole idea of converting the format would solve the issue. never really found out how to solve it. i'll be watching this post to see if anyone has a solve for this issue.

  • Streaming audio data won't stop unless I turn off the phone for 5 minutes.

    I have been testing the Curve 8330 regarding streaming audio from an icecast server. The address of the station is http://www.AirProgressive.org, click on "listen". (I have already run this by the icecast experts and they say it is a Blackberry "bug")
    BLACKBERRY USERS! PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE STREAM (dataflow) DOES NOT STOP WHEN YOU CLICK "STOP" ON THE MEDIA PLAYER! (and will continue for as long as you leave it on, and even if you turn off your BB for less than 5 Minutes.) I'm not sure if you are charged for these streams, but it seems that the battery is depleted rapidly if this continues without aborting it. See details of my testing below:
    > Access icecast stream by clicking on the link on the website:
         http://www.airprogressive.org:8000/stream.m3u
    > Stream consists of mp3 at 32kbps / 22050 Hz.
    > Stock media player launches, stops at "Do you want to open or save the item."
        > No connections started yet (viewing "List Clients" page of icecast admin interface).
    > Click "open", stream begins playing.
    > Two connections are started instead of just one, always offset by 2 seconds.
        -- but sometimes only one connection starts.

    So, to stop the streaming server from communicating with the Blackberry handset, you must either turn it off or disable mobile network for at least 5 minutes.
    It appears that the handset continues to transfer data (and therefore incur charges, if the user does not have an unlimited data plan) if the handset is not turned off or mobile network disabled for at least five minutes. It also runs down the battery much faster because the radio transmitter is actively being used, even if the user is not listening to the stream.
    The Blackberry network has intervening servers that continue to receive data from the streaming server even if the handset is off. This behavior likely has utility to deal with the realities of the cellphone network, to allow the stream to be transferred from one cell to another, and deal with the possibility that the handset may be out of range for up to 5 minutes without "interruption." However, it is hard to turn off the stream.
    QUESTIONS:
    1. Is there a way to stop this sort of behavior using a configuration setting or something? It seems particularly stupid to start a new stream connection each time a STOP/START cycle is completed, allowing the old connections to continue streaming data (even if the data does not make it to the handset).
    2. IS IT TRUE that the user will be "charged" for the data streams that are not disconnected?
    3. Is there a way for a developer to send a signal to the intervening cellphone network to discontinue the orphan streams?
    THANKS!!

    No, I'm using something like this :
    to start...
                       channel = new SoundChannel();
                                            soundPlay = new Sound();
                                            urlReq=new URLRequest;
                                            urlReq.url=mylUrl;  // url of radio mp3
                                            soundPlay.load(urlReq);
                       channel = soundPlay.play();
    to stop it...
                          channel.stop();
                          channel=null;
                          try{soundPlay.close();} catch (e:Error) {} // error or not, the sream won't stop.
    Any idea ? Did you try with a NetStream object ?

  • VLC doesn't save streaming audio to mp3 anymore

    I want to save streaming audio from the internet to my HDD in mp3 format while listening to it at the same time.  That worked fine when I did it with VLC, using the GUI.  To be specific, here are the settings that I used:
    VLC main menu: File>Open Network Stream>Open...Network>tick HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS and enter the URL (http://vruk.sc.llnwd.net:12265) >under Advanced Options tick Stream/Save and click on Settings (opens Stream Output window)>Outputs, tick Play locally, tick File, click on Browse and enter filename and location for the stream saving file, i.e. /home/robert/vlcout.mp3>Encapsulation method, tick on Raw>Transcoding options, tick on Audio codec and select mp3>Bitrate 128 kb/s, Channels 2>OK, OK, to start recording. Stop or Quit VLC, to stop recording.
    Two days ago I upgraded VLC from v.0.8.5-9 to v.0.8.6a-4 (which also upgraded ffmpeg from v.20060920-1 to v.20070131-1), and now the above procedure isn't working anymore.  The stream isn't playing anymore over my speakers while the encoding supposedly is going on, the vlcout.mp3 file is empty (0B), and VCL gives me the following error messages:
    stream_out_transcode error: cannot find encoder ((null))
    stream_out_transcode error: cannot create audio chain
    main error: cannot create packetizer output (mpga)
    It looks as though VLC is failing to encode the stream to mp3.  The VLC documentation (see http://www.videolan.org/streaming-features.html) in a table of "possible output formats for the transcoding module" says that for mp3 audio "you have to compile ffmpeg with libmp3lame support."  Has the new ffmpeg v.20070131-1 (in extra) been compiled without mp3 support?  If so, why?  Apparently, the older version I was using last week supported mp3.
    libmp3lame is installed on my system.  There is a very recent alternative ffmpeg-svn-8218-1 pkgbuild in AUR that enables libmp3lame in the configure section of the build but when I try to install the package built that way it conflicts with ffmpeg v.20070131-1, and to remove the official ffmpeg v.20070131-1 I'd first have to remove a slew of other packages that depend on it.
    Is it possible to remove VLC v.0.8.6a-4 and ffmpeg v.20070131-1 and go back to the older versions that worked for me?  There was talk of a bug in ffmpeg in this forum at the end of January; what about it?
    What should I do?

    I solved the problem for now by downgrading both vlc and ffmpeg to the earlier versions that I was using before.  Saving an audio stream in mp3 format is working again now.
    I believe there are problems with the current versions of both vlc and ffmpeg.
    1. vlc 0.8.6a doesn't seem to have ffmpeg enabled, i.e.
    $ vlc --list | grep ffmpeg
    VLC media player 0.8.6a Janus
    whereas with the older version I get
    $ vlc --list | grep ffmpeg
    VLC media player 0.8.5 Janus
      ffmpeg                FFmpeg audio/video decoder/encoder ((MS)MPEG4,SVQ1,H263,WMV,WMA)
      ffmpeg                FFmpeg chroma conversion
      ffmpeg                FFmpeg audio/video encoder
      ffmpeg                FFmpeg demuxer
      ffmpeg                FFmpeg video filter
      ffmpeg                FFmpeg crop padd filter
      ffmpeg                FFmpeg deinterlace video filter
    2. The current package ffmpeg v.20070131-1 in extra may not refer to various libraries correctly in its configure parameters.  E.g. in AUR there is an alternative pkgbuild ffmpeg-svn 8218-1 from 04-Mar-2007 in which the original configure parameters were replaced as follows:
    --enable-mp3lame --> --enable-libmp3lame
    --enable-vorbis --> --enable-libvorbis
    --enable-faac --> --enable-libfaac
    --enable-faad --> --enable-libfaad
    --enable-a52 --> --enable-liba52
    --enable-dts --> --enable-libdts
    Has the ffmpeg package in extra been compiled with mp3 support which is needed for the transcoding module of vlc to encode in mp3 format?  The alternative ffmpeg package in AUR conflicts with the ffmpeg package from extra, and I don't know how to tell the new vlc to use the alternative package instead of the one from extra.
    Someone ought to look into this.

  • Streaming audio (radio stations)

    Is it possible to access streaming audio via radio staion web sites on my Curve?

    Just to be sure: which Firefox version are you using?
    You may have a corrupted user agent that identifies you as Firefox/3.6.17
    *Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110420 Firefox/3.6.17 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) FBSMTWB

    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_your_useragent_string_to_its_compiled-in_default
    If you really use a Firefox/3.6.17 version then you should update to the latest Firefox 16.0.2 version.

  • AIR for Android: Streaming audio data won't stop unless I quit....

    I write an application (AIR-Android with Flash Builder) which can play internet radio stations (streamed audio in mp3).
    When I want to stop the stream like myChannel.stop() / mySound.close(); the sound is stopping but the stream is still loading (I can see it with a network monitor app).
    Streaming audio data won't stop unless I quit the application or I switch my connection from WIFI to 3G or from 3G to WIFI.
    I do not have this problem with Air for Mac and IOS.
    How can I solve this problem ?

    Hi Chris,
    I received a response from a certain Wang Zhe (from Adobe) about this bug.
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3070987
    It should provide an example of his test that apparently it worked but I have still no answer from him.
    Is it possible to contact him directly?

    I seem to have terrible problems with bluetooth streaming Audio ever since the upgrade,  sounds like a bug that needs to be fixed.

    I also always listened to streaming web radio in itunes (128k) which is now barely usable in Yosemite, it skips, drops out and stops playing constantly.
    I have a 75mbps fios connection so that is not the issue and it always worked great before. Just started after upgrading to yosemite.

  • Streamed audio stuttering since update to Yosemite

    I have a big problem with stuttering streamed audio and video (Spotify, Deezer, Netflix etc) since I updated to Yosemite. It seems to get much worse when the stream in question is not the "active" thing on my screen. For example when the screen goes black due to standby mode when listening to Spotify or when surfing on one tab while listening on Deezer on another. Also, while watching Netflix on another screen with the laptop lid closed, it doesn't take long before the audio and video becomes off sync. Does anyone else have this problem or have any idea on a solution?
    I have a Macbook air 13" mid 2012 and 100 mbit connection. I completely erased the hard drive before installing OS X Yosemite.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
    You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
    In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
    You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
    Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Streaming audio and/or video crashes your router BEFW11s4 firmware problem

    Ok!!! Apparently some of us have had the problem where trying to stream audio and/or video can cause the Linsys BEFW11S4 to crash, where only a power down and re-up will retore communication. Changing the MTU size has been suggested ad-nausium. I hope this works for you all, because it worked for me.
    Apparently the latest firmware is the problem. I just installed an older firmware version and problem solved (1.50.14).
    ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/befw11s4_v4_v1.50.14_code.bin
    So, looks like maybe Linksys could hopefully issue another firmware update that fixes this (we hate having to use old firmware... trading off one bug fix for other multiple bugs that may rear their ugly head later on).
    list of bugfix history found here:
    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?blobcol=urldata&blobheadername1=Content-Type&blobheadername2=Content-Disposition&blobheadervalue1=text%2Fplain&blobheadervalue2=inline%3B+filename%3Dbefw11s4_v4_v1.52.02_ver.txt&blobkey=id&blobtable=MungoBlobs&blobwhere=1130824460891&ssbinary=true

    Hi all -
    This looks like this will fix the issue I have with my router. I'm willing to try it, anyway.
    My question is pretty basic: What do I do after I download the file?
    Thanks, Kate

  • Audio lagging around Slide #20

    Hi everyone,
    I'm recording mini-lessons in Cap 5 with relatively small (30-60) slides in each project. I've noticed that around the 20th or so slide, the audio lags behind by about half a second. The band-aid solution I came up with is to extend a slide without extending the audio. It's quite noticeable but it corrects the problem. I'm deferring to your collective wisdom, Captivate Gurus: is there a better, less obvious solution? And I'm not counting adding a pop-up for the user about halfway into the lesson that directs them to click the PAUSE button on the playback bar.
    I've got the preloader set to 100% and the auto-play option is off as well. The projects consist of introductory and explanitory slides that have captions, JPEG images, and audio, and screen capture slides in demo mode with audio. No Flash and at the most one or two slides with FMR, lasting about a second or two at the most.
    Thanks!
    Krista

    Hi Krista
    I'm not sure if this still holds true in Captivate 5 as it's a totally new animal than 4 was. But in 4 I saw reports of folks correcting this by staging the audio to begin playing slightly into the slide. For example, have the audio begin playing perhaps .3 seconds (three tenths of a second) after the slide begins.
    I'm not guaranteeing this will work. Only offering it as something you might try and see.
    Cheers... Rick

  • 5800 and streaming audio

    Is it possibe to listen to music on myspace sites or streaming audio from flash based players on my friends blog sites with the 5800? How about with the E71 (possibly my next phone). I've tried with the 5800 but just get a 'download flash player' come up in the player box. When i click play on a flash player box the site just says connecting and nothing happens.
    Any ideas?

    All I can tell you is:
    1. It doesn't work for me in Firefox either (but it does in Camino and Safari/WebKit).
    2. This means it's a Firefox bug, so you should probably file a bug report.
    3. Firefox 2 couldn't open the page either.
    4. The file is an ASF, a Windows Media type.
    5. If you go to the source page it says "stopped" in the statusbar.

  • Unable to Stream Audio

    I'm unable to stream audio from a popular radio station. My old Win XP and Vista systems had no trouble. The radio station's site indicates that Windows Media Player is necessary. I'm hesitant to install anything having to do with Microsoft and/or Windows. What do I need to know? What are the pros/cons of installing Windows Media Player? Is there an Apple-approved version of WMP? Are there any other options available to me?

    Some radio stations will play in Safari and other OS X browsers and some will not without a wmp?
    Download and install Flip4Mac first to see if that doesn't let you listen to you favorite station?

  • Problem with streaming audio

    I wasn't sure if this is a problem with Safari, iTunes, or OS X, so rather than post the question in all three of those forums I decided to post the question here.
    I can't seem to get streaming audio to open and play when I click on their appropriate links in Safari. I tried several different links through a few different sites, but when I click on a "Play" or "Listen Now" link for an MP3 stream, a Safari download window opens and that's it -- no stream.
    I solved the problem by copying the link, going to iTunes, and choosing "Open Stream" from the "Advanced" menu, and the stream played fine, but I would hate to have to do that every time I want to sample an audio stream.
    Anyone know why it wouldn't work when I clicked on the direct link?
    Thanks.

    Nevermind. Noob figured out what he was doing wrong.
    See Safari "Preferences", "Open 'safe' files after downloading".
