Stress out Java Compiler API
any1 know how to display the error message when the compilation is not done??
the compiltion process is ok, but, if the compilation isnt done, there will be no error messages..
JavaCompiler JCompile=ToolProvider.getSystemJavaCompiler();
StandardJavaFileManager sjfm=JCompile.getStandardFileManager(null,null,null);
Iterable FileObject=sjfm.getJavaFileObjects(TheFile);
JCompile.getTask(null,sjfm,null,null,null,FileObject).call();cant seems to understand the api for that, can any1 help me??
getTask() takes a DiagnisticListener argument.
Or collect the messages in a list with a DiagnosticCollector. There's an example near the start of the JavaCompiler API docs http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/tools/JavaCompiler.html

Java Compiler API Status?
Does anyone know what the current status of JSR 199: Java Compiler API is?
(http://www.jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=199)
To me it seems the inclusion in JDK 1.5 was silently dropped. I have not found the smallest bit of information, though.JSR199 is in suspended animation. For Tiger, we're
merely documenting the com.sun.tools.javac.Main entry
point.Hi,
where could this documentation be found?

Java compile error for removed API
Hi,
What are the Java compile errors for API that has been removed?
As I understand it, API elements are deprecated and not removed from the API immediately, but will be removed in future releases or after so many years.
When Java code is compliled in a higher Java version, and the API has finally been removed - what are the errors that will be ouput in the log?
Thank you for your time.WalterLaan wrote:
And if you recompile one with a method removed that the other use and then run the other you would get a NoSuchMethodError (or more generally just an error sub class of LinkageError).
Not that you should be catching those unless you accept classes from the user (as plugins).Presumably you mean he should not be catching them?
@OP: In general, you should not catch unchecked exceptions. These are RuntimeException, Error, and their descendants. There are exceptions, such as at "layer boundaries," or when you don't want errors in one module/application/plugin/etc. to affect or prevent processing in others. -

P.S: CHECKING !!
STEP 1.
First compile and execute the PROGRAM 1 with your USERNAME & PASSWORD. This will send a mail to your own account.
STEP 2.
Now compile both PART 1 & PART 2 of PROGRAM 2. Then, execute PART 1 - Main.java. This will retrive the mail sent in step 1. njoy! :)
In future, I hope this is added to the demo programs of the Java Mail API download package.
This is for 3 main reasons...
1. To prevent a lot of silly questions being posted on this forum [like the ones I did :(].
2. To give the first time Java Mail user with a real time working example without code modification [code has to use command line args like the demo programs - for instant results].
3. Also, this is what google has to say..
"The Gmail Team is committed to making sure you always can access your mail. That's why we're offering POP access and auto-forwarding. Both features are free for all Gmail users and we have no plans to charge for them in the future."
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13295
I guess bshannon & Java Mail team is hearing this....
Again, Hurray and thanks for helping me make it!! cheers & no more frowned faces!!
(: (: (: (: (: GO JCODERS GO!! :) :) :) :) :)

-----Thanks for the reply,
I did checked by enabling session debuging and also checked pop settings it's enabled for all
mails, I tried deleting some very old messages and now the message count is changed to 310.
This may be the problem with gmail.
Bellow is the output i got,

[DeployDecisionServices] Failed at Java Compilation
Hello,
i'm facing a problem when trying to deploy a decision service within a BPEL process. I have created some xml facts and rules with rule author. Everythings works fine also the compilation of jaxb classes and syntax check of RL output.
When using the rule repository in a BPEL process by creating a decision service and a decide activity the deployment stops during the compilation of the jaxb classes. As mentioned the compilation of jaxb classes on cmd works fine an it seems that the compilation during the deployment works fine as well as all .class files are beeing created in PROJECT_HOME%decisionservices\DecisionService\war\WEB-INF\classes. Nevertheless deployment stops at this point and I can't get my decision service deployed.
Any help is much appreciated !

I've resolved the error. It was the fact that I was pointing to the wrong rmi port. I found out by typing out the "opmnctl status -l" on the command line and realised that my rmi port was 12401 instead of 23791. Hence, under the "deployDecisionServices" namespace in the build.xml file, I modified it from "rmiport="${rmiport}" to "rmiport="12401"" and deploy it and everything works. Thank you everyone for your time and efforts.

How to use Java Mail API in Unix
I am trying to write some code using Java mail API. I want to execute it in Unix. I downloaded the mail API to windows machine and ftped the mail.jar file to a Unix machine. Then I set the class path as below:
export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/home.../mail.jar
Then I tried to compile my Java program. The output is as below:
error: error reading /home.../mail.jar; invalid END header (bad central directory offset)
mail.java:1: package javax.mail does not exist
import javax.mail.*;
Can any one please help me out.You should also include the "activation.jar" file that you obtained from
downloading the Java Activation Framework, in your CLASSPATH.
For example:
export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/urPath/activation/activation.jar
Besides, assuming you unzipped javamail-1_4_1.zip in home/download the following should work
export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:home/download/javamail-1.4.1/mail.jar:. -
Error while sending mail when using Java Mail API
Hi Experts,

Can anybody please help me sort out the issue.

AbdullahHi,
Usually one get this error if the SMTP server is configured not to relay mails (a security measure) or the SMTP server need the mail to be sent from a trusted IP or with proper authentication. Some SMTP servers are configured to block junk mails.
Pls check with your mail server administrator.

Problem in sending messages using java mail api
Hi All,
I have a problem in sending messages via java mail api.
MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(session);
String bodyContent = "ñSunJava";
message.setText (bodyContent,"utf-8");using the above code its not possible for me to send the attachment. if i am using the below code means special characters like ñ gets removed or changed into some other characters.
MimeBodyPart messagePart = new MimeBodyPart();
messagePart.setText(bodyText);
// Set the email attachment file
MimeBodyPart attachmentPart = new MimeBodyPart();
FileDataSource fileDataSource = new FileDataSource("C:/sunjava.txt") {
public String getContentType() {
return "application/octet-stream";
attachmentPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(fileDataSource));
attachmentPart.setFileName(filename);
Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
multipart.addBodyPart(messagePart);
multipart.addBodyPart(attachmentPart);
message.setContent(multipart);
Transport.send(message);is there any way to send the file attachment with the body message without using MultiPart java class.Taken pretty much straight out of the Javamail examples the following works for me (mail read using Thunderbird) // Define message
Message message = new MimeMessage(session);
message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from));
// Set the 'to' address
for (int i = 0; i < to.length; i++)
message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(to));
// Set the 'cc' address
for (int i = 0; i < cc.length; i++)
message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.CC, new InternetAddress(cc[i]));
// Set the 'bcc' address
for (int i = 0; i < bcc.length; i++)
message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.BCC, new InternetAddress(bcc[i]));
message.setSubject("JavaMail With Attachment");
// Create the message part
BodyPart messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
// Fill the message
messageBodyPart.setText("Here's the file ñSunJava");
// Create a Multipart
Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
// Add part one
multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
// Part two is attachment
for (int count = 0; count < 5; count++)
String filename = "hello" + count + ".txt";
String fileContent = " ñSunJava - Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party " + count + " \n";
// Create another body part
BodyPart attachementBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
// Get the attachment
DataSource source = new StringDataSource(fileContent, filename);
// Set the data handler to this attachment
attachementBodyPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(source));
// Set the filename
attachementBodyPart.setFileName(filename);
// Add this part
multipart.addBodyPart(attachementBodyPart);
// Put parts in message
message.setContent(multipart);
// Send the message
Transport.send(message); -
Using Java Mail API from Tomcat
Hello,
Purely as an academic exercise I have written a JSP page which, upon being requested from the client's browser, should send me a default email using Java Mail Api.
here is the code :
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
import javax.mail.*;
import javax.mail.internet.*;
import javax.activation.*;
public class TestMail {
static String msgText1 = "success this time 12";
static String msgText2 = "This is the text in the message attachment.";
public String sendIt() {
String to = "<my email";
String from = "<anything>";
String host = "<my ip address of smtp server>";
boolean debug = false;
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("mail.smtp.host", host);
Session session = Session.getInstance(props, null);
.....The code works fine as a stand alone app but when called from JSP page it hangs on the Session.getInstance line. I can only guess that this might be a security issue with the container not allowing access to the smtp server ?
Can anyone give me a clue ???Your Tomcat log files should spell out the problem for you.
My Tomcat installation does not come with the Java Mail API. I had to add the mail and activation jar files to the server/common.lib directory (or the server's shared/lib or the WEB-INF/lib of your application.)

Problem in retrieving email using java mail api
hi,
In my project,i am retrieving mails from a particular email id.
I am able to retrieve the latest mails and save it in a folder in my system.
The problem is whenever i run the program eventhough the most recently received mail in inbox is retrieved and saved,again it is retrieving the same one and saving it in the same folder(not repeating).
I tried to check the newmessages in the inbox using the folder.hasNewMessage() method in java mail api,but the method is returning false only regardless new mail is there in inbox or not.
I want to read the unread messages only.Dont want to retrieve the already read mails.
I got the mail retrieving code from the below site.(sorry not posting the code because it is so long and having 4 classes)
http://www.builderau.com.au/program/java/soa/Getting_the_mail_in_receiving_in_JavaMail/0,39024620,39228060,00.htm
Can anyone tell me how to read unread mails in the inbox?
Thanks a lothi parvathi
i think your mail program is receving mails using imap
the imap is only receve the mail from server but the pop is deleting the mails after receving
use the following sample code
package com.sfrc.mail.pop;
import javax.mail.*;
import javax.mail.internet.*;
import com.sun.mail.handlers.message_rfc822;
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;

Problem with Java Communication API
hi
I installed the Java Communication API on win32 platform (as per the guidelines)
Now when I try to run the sample program 'Blackbox' for the serial port, I get an error (in fact an exception is generated inside main function in BlackBox.class file)
I tried the SimpleRead.java example but that too generated the same exception
Can anybody help me out.... I am a novice with Java Comm APII tried running the sample BlackBox program provided for serial port and now it says
No Serial Ports Found!
I verified that both comm.jar and javax.comm.properties are in the <JDK>\lib directory.
Actually, I am using netBeans IDE 1.4 and I used the C:\J2SDK folder installed with netBeans for the Java Communicaion API
plz help. -
Java Communications API and Java SDK 1.4.2
I just installed the Java Communications API 2.0 on my Windows XP system, with JDK 1.4.2. As per the install instructions, I copied files from the zip into my /lib and /bin directories and set the classpath. However, when I attempt to compile any of the samples, the compiler displays a large number of errors. I know the API documentation only references JDK1.2 -- are there any special tricks to installing on newer JDKs, or will I need to acquire an older JDK to develop?
My path variable is still not being set! Here is the content of my autoexec.bat located on the root directory of C:\
rem - By Groove Setup
PATH=%PATH%;"C:\Program Files\Groove Networks\Groove\Bin"
PATH=%PATH%;C:\PROGRAM FILES\J2SDK1.4.2_07\BIN
/code]
When I type 'path' at the MSDOS C:\ prompt, I receive the following in the get the following:C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;\C:\PROGRAM FILES\GROOVE NETWORKS\GROOVE\BIN
As an aside, I noticed that when I perform a search of the my hard drive (c:\), I find two autoexec.bat files. One at the root, and the other in C:\Windows\Command\EBD.
I believe the instructions stated to modify the autoexec.bat at the root directory.
TIA for any assistance. This is really becoming a nusance and taking up quite a bit of my time trying to resolve this problem. -
Javax.sound missing with Fedora Core 3 linux's java compiler?
I'm running Fedora core 3, and I did a complete install(selected all the packeges). I have the java compiler that FC3 installed. I can compile most things, but I seem to be missing the sound package/folder.
This leads to an error when I try to import the sound libraries.
//start code
//simple non-working example
import javax.sound.*;
class sounds
//end code
results in the error "The import javax.sound cannot be resolved"
I am trying to run a code snippet from javaAlmanac, and of course it won't work. Today, a friend of mine had the exact same problem on a windows machine using JDK 1.5.
I'm going to test this code out on a windows machine also.
Are there issues with the FC3 java compiler?
Has anyone else run into and solved this issue?
I'm considering copying the sound folder from some other Java installation, anyone try this?
Thanks,I'm pretty new at this myself. I've also installed Fedora Core 3 on an AMD 64. When I do the same uname - a I get:
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.9-1.667 #1 Tue Nov 2 14:50:10 EST 2004 x86_64 x8 6_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Maybe you didn't install as 64 bit ?
I've also successfully installed Jave Runtime Environment. java -version gets me:
java version "1.4.2_08"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_08-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_08-b03, mixed mode)
I'd suggest installing 32 bit. I can't tell the difference when I run programmes that use 64 or 32 bits - it will be just as good.
