String returned error
I am trying to put the String that is returned by a method into a String called error, however the compiler marks an error when I try to print the contents of the String error.
String error = null;
error = loginClass.login(login, password);
//the method login is type String and returns a String
System.out.println(" " + error);
for some reason the compiler marks an error when I want to print error, can anybody tell me what am I doing wrong?
public class GUI {
private void loginButtonActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
try {
// TODO add your handling code here:
String error = null;
String login = loginTextField.getText();
String password = passwordTextField.getText();
Login loginClass = new Login();
error = loginClass.login(login, password);
} catch (Exception ex) {
Logger.getLogger(GUI.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
System.out.println("" + error);
public class Login {
public static String decodedString = null;
public String login(String login, String password) throws Exception {
String CHARSET = "UTF-8";
URL sokker = new URL("http://online.sokker.org/start.php?session=xml");
URLConnection sk = sokker.openConnection();
sk.setDoInput (true);
sk.setDoOutput(true);
sk.setUseCaches (false);
sk.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
OutputStreamWriter out = new OutputStreamWriter(sk.getOutputStream());
out.write("ilogin=" + java.net.URLEncoder.encode(login, CHARSET) + "&ipassword=" + java.net.URLEncoder.encode(password, CHARSET));
out.flush();
out.close();
InputStream input = sk.getInputStream();
BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(input, CHARSET));
String line;
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(1024);
while (null != (line = br.readLine())) {
sb.append(line + "\n");
decodedString = line;
System.out.println("" + decodedString);
return decodedString;
}

Importing is a way of saying "I want to use this class". But, if you want to use the methods and/or properties of that class, you need to reference it. You need to tell the compiler which class/object your "parseInt" method is drawn from. -
Problem Description:
ODBC functions SQLExecDirectW and SQLExecute functions return error:”DIAG [22001] [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]String data, right
truncation (0) “. When we enable tracing in the ODBC administrator, in the SQL.log we see that values for the arguments: ColumnSize, BufferLength, and StrLen_or_IndPtr of ODBC function SQLBindParameter are not being displayed.
Environment Used:
OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition.
Complier: Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SP1 for x64.
Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2008
MDAC: Microsoft Data Access Components SDK 2.8
Note: This problem is seen only in our 64bit application. However, in 32bit
SQLExecDirectW and SQLExecute functions return successfully.
As we could not find the values of 6<sup>th</sup>, 9<sup>th</sup> and 10<sup>th</sup> arguments(ColumnSize,
BufferLength, and StrLen_or_IndPtr) passed to
SQLBindParameter in the ODBC traces for 64bit, we are not sure whether the values for the above mentioned arguments are received correctly by SQLBindParameter or not. This information would help us to debug further. So, could you please let us know why
these values are not displayed.

From my research, I found:
"[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]String
data right truncation" error may be returned from a call to
SQLBindParameter if the size of the string parameter being used is greater than the size of the column being compared to. In other words if the
string size of the <expression> to the left of the <comparison_operator> is less than the
string size of the <expression> to the
right, ODBC may return this error.
The resolution is to make the string size of the <expression> to the
right of the <comparison_operator> less than or equal to the
string size of the <expression> on the left.
It is difficult to track down this type of problem when third party development applications are being used. ODBC Trace can be used to help determine if this problem is occuring.
Here is an example where the customer has submitted a query "select count(*) from type1 where type1 = ?", type1 is varchar(5) and the
data type being passed by the application is char[9].
Here is the relevant portion of the trace. The following information from the "exit" of SQLDescribeParam
SWORD * 0x0095e898 (12)
UDWORD * 0x0095e880 (5)
Maps to the following with the actual value in parenthesis - SQL_VARCHAR Size 5:
SQLSMALLINT *DataTypePtr
SQLUINTEGER *ParameterSizePtr
The "exit" value from SQLBindParameter provides the following
information:
SWORD 1 <SQL_PARAM_INPUT>
SWORD 1 <SQL_C_CHAR>
SQL Data Type SWORD 12 <SQL_VARCHAR>
Parameter Size UDWORD 5
SWORD 0
Value PTR 0x0181c188
Value Buffer Size SDWORD 5
String Length SDWORD * 0x0181c103 (9)
The string length parameter is the length of the
string being bound to the parameter, in this instance there is a size mismatch which results in the SQLError and the SQLErrorW with the message "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server
Driver]String data
right truncation" .
Hope this could be helpful.

Hi all,
I am facing issue with the assign activity.

We are using SOA 11.1.1.3 version.
Any pointers on this?
Thanks in advanceHi-
This is because you are have multiple nodes either in source or target XML.
My guess is some nodes of your XML might be repeating (means a single element/node has multiple values). Can you please check that or please post your XML here.

ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error
In the above package there is a procedure called procedure excel_content which actuall prints the data in the spread sheet this is where the error is coming from there is a variable called vsql have declared it as clob to hold large string but still i am getting the same error when trying to pass a big string.
Please check the error and let me know.

Returning error to Javascript from Webkit plugin
Hi all,
I want to return an error and possibly error string using exception or any other means from a web kit plug-in to Java script. In the success case these functions returns NSString, NSNumber,... etc. Can some one pls. provide a sample code to return error code and/or error string, so that Java script can detect the error condition.
Thanks

Need help in returning error condition from web service
Hi,
I need one help regarding webservice. Currently my web service is returning "true" value when it works fine without any issues but it returns "false" when any any error is encountered. So my question is, can we return error instead of string "false". I dont know how to return exact error from webservice. If you any idea then please mail me.
Below is a small code snippet:
System.out.println("User "+ userFullName + usrKey + " end date has been updated to "+usrEndDate +" in IDM DB");
result = true;
catch (tcAPIException e) {
log.error("Error in finding the user" + e.getMessage());
result = false;
} catch (tcUserNotFoundException e) {
log.error("Error in getting user status" + e.getMessage());
result = false;
} catch (tcStaleDataUpdateException e) {
log.error("Error in updating end date of user" + e.getMessage());
result = false;
}catch (Exception e1) {
e1.printStackTrace();
result =false;
return result;
Here i want to return error instead of false. Can we do that?
Thanks,
Kalpana.instead of storing false store below
use result=e1.getMessage();

Please help with SSL POST: Servlet returns Error 500
I am struggling for many days to get a Java program to log in to an SSL page. The program is supposed to track ADSL usage statistics from https://secure.telkomsa.net/titracker/, but I never seem to get around Server returned Error 500.
Could anyone please help me understand what I am doing wrong by looking at the method I used. (It seems on the server side it is a jsp servlet that handles authentication).
Any help is deeply appreciated!
I copy-paste the method directly from NetBeans:

Human Workflow Task XPath query string returns multiple nodes.
I am looking for trouble shooting help for this error. I am no sure if it is a server or jdev issue.
I am running JDev version 10.1.3.3 and console version 10.1.3.1.0 locally.
General information on the BPEL process:
I have a temporary table in Oracle lite that I created items to be review by the user. I created a synchronous BPEL process. The first step in developing this process, I created the straight forward invoke the table to get the records, transform the records with a change the approve flag = "Y", and invoke the table to update the records. Works like a charm. I followed the online tutorial by dropping a human task after the transform, configured the parameters, setup the assignments, and moved the invoke to update table under the approved condition. If the table has only one record, the process runs great but if there are two records I get the following error message.
<selectionFailure xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/business-process/"><part name="summary"><summary>XPath query string returns multiple nodes.
According to BPEL4WS spec 1.1 section 14.3, The assign activity part and query /ns3:TempItemCollection/ns3:TempItem/ns3:ItemNbr should not return multipe nodes.
Please check the BPEL source at line number "178" and verify the part and xpath query /ns3:TempItemCollection/ns3:TempItem/ns3:ItemNbr.
</summary>
</part></selectionFailure>
=================
The error occurs in the first assign of the Human task after the assign copies the fields for the title. I underlined line number 178.

Thank you for any help you can give me.Here is how I solved this problem: I was told by the metalink folks that I should use the same verion of SOA console as jdev. So I went back to jdev 10.1.3.1. Rather than reading from the Oracle lite table, I dumped the table into a flat file. I read flat file and populated the workflow. Remember to set the 'messages in batch' flag in the file adapter to 1 and the number of records to skip to zero in the format builder for the flat file. The process now reads each record and creates an instance for that each record. In other words, if I have 8 records in my flat file, I will have 8 instances of the process running on the console. Thanks Jeremy for your help figuring this out.

How to return error from subscription function of an event
I am creating a subscription function for an oracle shipped event, oracle.apps.eng.cm.changeObject.submit. The event fires fine, i can do my custom validations in this function. In case the validations fail, I need to return an error message.
As per the guides and metalink documents, the way to do this is by returning 'ERROR' . But even though I return an ERROR, it does not error out. Whether I return SUCCESS or ERROR , the behaviour is the same.
While creating the subscription function, for On Error , I selected, "Stop And Rollback ".
Is it possible to return errors from the subscription functions.
thanks
SatyaYou shouldn't be passing ResultSet objects across the EJB layer.
Instead you should be passing data back and forth.
All of the data access code should be in one place in one class.
That class should open the connection, run the query, process/store the results of the query and then close the connection.
In this case you probably want to return a list of something to your jsp.
So your EJB call should be more like
public List<resultBean> check(String id){
ResultSet rs = Statement.("select * from table1 where id=123");
List resultList = new ArrayList();
while (rs.next()){
Bean myBean = new Bean();
myBean.setProperty1(rs.getString("field1"));
myBean.setProperty2(rs.getString("field2"));
resultList.add(myBean);
return resultList;

Hi,
I recently upgraded from SCCM 2012 SP1 to SCCM 2012 R2. There are some issues with some reports not working (also SMS_PORTALWEB_CONTROL_MANAGER returns errors, but that may not be related). I had some WMI corruption issues on the server, had to run a restore
from wmimgmt.msc and have not had WMI errors in the eventlog since. However the reporting issues persist.
Will insert error message here as i cannot attach a file.

Returning Errors from a webservice using XMLBeans
I have a webservice that accepts XML as input and output parameters, and I'm using XMLBeans to handle this. I'm trying to work out how I can return error information from the webservice, so I created an Exception.xsd schema and 'include' it in the output XML Schema, so an exception xml element is valid in the output schema. The problem is, the XMLBean class generated from the output XML schema has no methods that allow me to create an Exception element. Is there some other way of handling the return of exceptions from webservices using XML?
The answer is just throw a SoapFaultException and put the exception.xsd XMLBean in the FaultDetail section of the SoapFaultException.
