The code compiles fine but when I run the program it hangs. If this section of the code is commented out it opens fine so it must be here somewhere.

Here is a working version, I just tried it on my computer:
String fileName = "data.txt";
FileInputStream stream = new FileInputStream(fileName);
InputStreamReader iStreamReader = new InputStreamReader(stream);
BufferedReader bufReader = new BufferedReader(iStreamReader);
BookList1729731[] BookList = new BookList1729731[10]; //make sure your file does not have more than 10 lines
int arrayCounter = 0;
String line = "";
while ( (line=bufReader.readLine()) != null) {
     StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(line, ",");  //assuming comma delimited data
     int isbn = Integer.parseInt(st.nextToken());
     String title = st.nextToken();
     int numInStock = Integer.parseInt(st.nextToken());
     float price = Float.parseFloat(st.nextToken());
     BookList[arrayCounter] = new BookList1729731(isbn, title, numInStock, price);
     arrayCounter++;
}

  • SetCtrlVal on a "string control" is requesting run-time "int" data

    Hi,
    We at KPIT Cummins are using LabWindows for one of our automotive projects. We have a GUI with multiple tabs and one of our string text boxes is popping up the below error (also attached jpeg).
    FATAL RUN-TIME ERROR:   "Temp.c", line 2642, col 38, thread id 0x00000F4C:   Invalid argument type: found 'pointer to char', expected 'int'.
    We have tried to debug this project and we believe that the line giving us an issue is:
    ret_val=SetCtrlVal( h_Tab_Intgd[INTGD_CFG_DATA_TAB], INTGDTAB_ACCXSCALE, aa_uc_Temp_Array );
    where,
    h_Tab_Intgd[INTGD_CFG_DATA_TAB] is an array of handles for the form (stores all handles for the tabs)
    INTGDTAB_ACCXSCALE is the name of the string object (exact constant name as it appears in the LabWindows created .h file for GUI constants)
    and aa_uc_Temp_Array is an array of characters. (currently holding "0.000000\n")
    There is another form in our code that has a similar feature but with a different constant ID...and the SetCtrlVal seems to work for that form. We do not understand why it gives a runtime error for this particular form.
    This project code is a big chunk of code and we cannot currently share the project due to a confidentiality clause. Can you help us find the exact problem with what little information we have shared ?

    This is an error that I happen to face sometimes, especially with tab controls; in my experience every time I have eventually found that the panel handle was wrong: may it be that your handle arrays ir rewritten somewere so that it holds incorrect values?
    If I were you I'd place a breakpoint where you retrieve the panel handle for the tab page and another on faulting SetCtrlVal line, comparing the panel handles in both places.

  • Oracle Forms Service hangs while run time

    I have Oracle 10g, I have a from (10g) I compile and generate when I try to run from Forms Builder, I hang in a screen while is said "Oracle Application Server - Forms Service" any iideas what might be wrong of what should I check

    This sounds like a configuration issue to me. Have you modified the "default.env" file (found in %ORACLE_HOME%\forms\server) to include the path to your form in the FORMS_PATH variable? Have you installed the Oracle Jinitiator or modified the formsweb.cfg file to use the Sun JRE? If you have installed the Jinitiator or are using the Sun JRE, what version did you install? The formsweb.cfg file defaults to Jinitiator version: 1.3.1.26 and Sun JRE version: 1.4.2_06. If you have a newer version installed you will need to update the version in the formsweb.cfg to match the installed version.
    Hope this helps,

  • Modifying a Application Substitution String in Run-time

    Hello all,
    I have a substitution string defined in an application (under application definition) that needs to be different based on whether the application is on a development server or a test server. Is there a way that I can alter the value of that subsitution string on my test run-time instance after I've brought the application in from development? Perhaps an API call? APEX_INSTANCE_ADMIN doesn't appear to have anything for this.
    Or do I have to either do a test in code and set an application item when the application starts up, or pull it from a database table or constant?
    Thanks!
    John

    Shane,
    SubVersion works with files, so everything you do has to be a file, including all of your PL/SQL procs / functions / packages. If you have "cowboy coders" editing packages in the database with SQL Developer or TOAD, that's the first thing that needs to change. I regularly export my APEX apps and check them in. I also make a DDL-only backup of any schemas I'm working on at major mile-stones or before upgrades.
    There's a server and client component. The sever houses the repository and everyone checks projects out from and commits projects to the server. On the client-side, the TortoiseSVN client is by far the most popular Windows client. It perfectly integrates with Windows so you can right-click a file and lock, update, commit it.
    To work on a project, you:
    - check it out from the repository. you typically only do this once as you keep a working copy on your client pc.
    - get a lock on a file you want to edit. This is optional, but it's my preferred method. Now you are the only one that can commit the file back to the repository.
    - make your changes to the file, once you are happy, simply right-click and select commit. you can then enter comments on the file.
    - now, anyone else who wants to edit that file will see your changes when they request a lock or issue the "update" command.
    You can review every version of the file, diff versions, "Tag" a version of your code, and the list goes on.
    After a few hours you'll be comfortable with the client process. I think the server component of it deters most people as you have a number of choices to make and it can be slightly complicated to install. For this reason, I STRONGLY recommend trying one of the hosting providers as then all you have to worry about is the client-side. Additionally, your code is now backed-up off-site.
    I don't have any personal experience with these services, but here are a few reasonably priced ones. The first one has a free option which is where I would start with a test project just to get a feel for it.:
    - https://www.projectlocker.com
    - http://svnrepository.com/
    For what it's worth, the APEX team uses SubVersion, as do many dev teams inside Oracle (not the DB dev team though). Also, the new https://samplecode.oracle.com uses Subversion as part of an offering from CollabNet. My 1st project hosted there is called logger . You can brows the logger subversion repository here: https://logger.samplecode.oracle.com/source/browse/logger/

  • How to load dynamically String into a VI using LabVIEW Run-time Engine Version 7.0?

    I would like to be able to traduce string into my application using import string method. I create an program with my VI to translate. When I use the import method, I get this error: the VI is locked. WHY ? because it works well in the edit mode but not using LabVIEW Run-time Engine Version 7.0 .

    Hello loup,
    If you call dynamically a VI in your LabVIEW application you must add this VI when you build the .exe file.
    To add this VI, go to the Tab "Source Files" when you build application and click on "Add Dynamic VI..." then chose the VI you call.
    It should solve your problem.
    In the attached file you can found an example of LV program that translate front panel.
    Try to build exe file and add "Languages.vi" as dynamic VI and .txt files as "Support files".
    I test it, it works.
    I hope that this will help you.

    In the future Swing related questions should be posted in the Swing forum.
    how can i update my table automatically at run time so tat, my table is
    updated whenever a new object is entered into vector..You don't update the Vector directly. You should be creating a method in your TableModel, called "addRow(...)". This method will do two things:
    a) add the Student object to the Vector
    b) invoke the fireTableRowsInserted(..) method of AbstractTableModel. This will cause the table to be repainted.

  • Adding complex computed column at run-time fails in PB 12.6

    I support a large 'vintage' application that was originally written in the late 90's, and has been migrated from version to version over the years.  Currently I'm working to get it working in PB 12.6 Classic, build 3506, migrating it from PB 11.5
    The first issue I've come across is that PFC treeviews are not working properly.  After some debugging, I determined that the cause of the failure is the PFC code's creation of 'key' column in the datawindows being used to populate each level.
    In the pfc_u_tv.of_createkey function, it looks at the linkages between the levels of a treeviews data, and then crafts an expression, and then uses that to create a computed column, which is subsequently used to uniquely identify the data.
    The expression is a series of string concatenations, such as this:
    expression='String(ctg_cd) + "#$%" + String(app_cd) + "#$%" + String(app_cd) + "#$%" + String(win_id) + "#$%" + String(ctg_cd) + "#$%"'
    This expression is then used in a modify statement to create the new compute key column:
    ls_rc = ads_obj.Modify("create compute(band=detail x='0' y='0' " + &
      "height='0' width='0' name=pfc_tvi_key " + ls_Exp + ")")
    In earlier versions, this works, and when you do a getitemstring afterward you get a long concatenated value that PFC uses to uniquely identify treeview items.
    Such as 'a/r#$%plcy#$%plcy#$%w_m_plcy_fncl_tran#$%a/r#$%'
    However, in PB 12.6, only the first portion of the expression is processed.  There is no error returned from the Modify function, and the column is created, but the expression is only evaluating one part of the expression.  In this partiular case, it results in
    'plcy'
    I just noticed that this isn't the *first* item in the set of concatenated columns and string literals, which is interesting.  In any case, when the computed key values are not correct, the whole method PFC is using to populate and run the treeview falls apart, and you get all children under each parent, and selections on the treeview object do not work properly because the key column values are not unique.
    I can copy the expression value from a debugging session, and use that to create a computed column at design time, pasting the expression in, and naming it the same as the created column (pfv_tvi_key), and this then allows the treeview to work properly.  However, this is a very cumbersome and problematic workaround.  The application has a lot of treeviews, with a very large number of datawindows operating as all the different types of items on different levels of different trees.  I don't think it's a practical workaround, and future maintenance would be very difficult.
    bu the workaround still demonstrates it is not an issue with the syntax of the compute expression, just an issue with the way it is handled by PowerBuilder when a column is created at run time,vs. at design time.
    Has anyone else encountered this issue?  I would think there are a fair number of older apps still around that are using PFC treeviews.
    My next step will be to install PB 12.6 build 4011 and cross my fingers.  Other than that, perhaps try 12.5?

    Updating the PFC layers has started to lead down a rabbit hole of hundreds and hundreds of errors.
    Granted, many of these are probably rooted in a few ancestor issues.
    But I'm not sure this will lead to a solution.
    The problem lies in using a modify statement to create a computed column at run time containing an expression with multiple concatenated values.
    If I look at the pfc_u_tv.of_createkey function from the newer PFC version, I see the same code there:
    ls_rc = ads_obj.Modify("create compute(band=detail x='0' y='0' " + &
      "height='0' width='0' name=pfc_tvi_key " + ls_Exp + ")")
    And the same code above it which creates the expression used in the modify.
    So after doing all the patching for the new PFC version, I somehow suspect I'll still be facing the same datastore.modify problem.
    Not to say that isn't a good thing to do, just not sure it addresses the root of the problem.

  • LabVIEW Run-time Engine 7.1.1 installation failure on Windows 7 SP 1 32-bit

    I am attempting an installation of LabVIEW Run-time Engine 7.1.1 on my Windows 7 SP1 32-bit OS computer and the installation hangs.  This happens near the beginning.  Is there a compatibility issue?  The window does not have any error messages.  It says: "Updating System, The features you selected are currently being installed."  The progress indicator blinks periodically, but does not move forward.  Please help.  Thanks!

    I recently tried to install the LabVIEW 7.0 runtime engine on my Windows 7 (64 bit) machine to try out an old software. Ended up removing it quickly again, since any LabVIEW version I started up after that, including LabVIEW 2013 showed an installation dialog on startup about (updating installation information, please wait!).
    Basically there are so many possible problems why it could fail. Apparently the runtime engine installer had played with some other NI component that he had no idea would ever exist when it was created and caused that component to always think it needed to update itself to finalize its installation. In your case it could be anything from a missing Visual C runtime version framework that the installer simply expects to be present but doesn't since Microsoft has in the meantime released about 5 versions of Visual C and doesn't install all runtime versions anymore on newest Windows. Or it could be a conflict with your hyper-duper .Net Framework 4.5.x.y that the installer does not be prepared for. Maybe that or something else was not present on your 64 Bit machine where you could install the runtime engine.
    Basically the reasons for the install to fail are legion, and trying to figure it out is always more hassle than moving on and let old software be old software.

  • How to retrieve IndividualStrings from a txt file using String Tokenizer.

    hello can any one help me to retrieve the individual strings from a txt file using string tokenizer or some thing like that.
    the data in my txt file looks like this way.
    Data1;
    abc; cder; efu; frg;
    abc1; cder2; efu3; frg4;
    Data2
    sdfabc; sdfcder; hvhefu; fgfrg;
    uhfhabc; gffjcder; yugefu; hhfufrg;
    Data3
    val1; val2; val3; val4; val5; val6;
    val1; val2; val3; val4; val5; val6;
    val1; val2; val3; val4; val5; val6;
    val1; val2; val3; val4; val5; val6;
    i need to read the data as an individual strings and i need to pass those values to diffarent labels,the dat in Data3 i have to read those values and add to an table datamodel as 6 columns and rows depends on the data.
    i try to retrieve data using buffered reader and inputstream reader,but only the way i am retrieving data as an big string of entire line ,i tried with stringtokenizer but some how i was failed to retrive the data in a way i want,any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,

    Hmmm... looks like the file format isn't even very consistent... why the semicolon after Data1 but not after Data2 or Data3??
    Your algorithm is reading character-by-character, and most of the time it's easier to let a StringTokenizer or StreamTokenizer do the work of lexical analysis and let you focus on the parsing.
    I am also going to assume your format is very rigid. E.g. section Data1 will ALWAYS come before section Data2, which will come before section Data3, etc... and you might even make the assumption there can never be a Data4, 5, 6, etc... (this is why its nice to have some exact specification, like a grammar, so you know exactly what is and is not allowed.) I will also assume that the section names will always be the same, namely "DataX" where X is a decimal digit.
    I tend to like to use StreamTokenizer for this sort of thing, but the additional power and flexibility it gives comes at the price of a steeper learning curve (and it's a little buggy too). So I will ignore this class and focus on StringTokenizer.
    I would suggest something like this general framework:
    //make a BufferedReader up here...
    do
      String line = myBufferedReader.readLine();
      if (line!=null && line.trim().length()>0)
        line = line.trim();
        //do some processing on the line
    while (line!=null);So what processing to do inside the if statement?
    Well, you can recognize the DataX lines easily enough - just do something like a line.startsWith("Data") and check that the last char is a digit... you can even ignore the digit if you know the sections come in a certain order (simplifying assumptions can simplify the code).
    Once you figure out which section you're in, you can parse the succeeding lines appropriately. You might instantiate a StringTokenizer, i.e. StringTokenizer strtok = new StringTokenizer(line, ";, "); and then read out the tokens into some Collection, based on the section #. E.g.
    strtok = new StringTokenizer(line, ";, ");
    if (sectionNo==0)
      //read the tokens into the Labels1 collection
    else if (sectionNo==1)
      //read the tokens into the Labels2 collection
    else //sectionNo must be 2
      //create a new line in your table model and populate it with the token values...
    }I don't think the delimiters are necessary if you are using end-of-line's as delimiters (which is implicit in the fact that you are reading the text out line-by-line). So the original file format you listed looks fine (except you might want to get rid of that rogue semicolon).
    Good luck.

  • JSP, Data Web Bean, BC4J: Setting the where clause of a View Object at run time

    Hi,
    I am trying to develop a data web bean in which the where clause of a View Object will be set at run time and the results of the query then displayed.
    My BC4J components are located in one project while the coding for the data web bean is in another project. I used the following code bu t it does not work. Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong?
    public void populateOSTable(int P_EmpId)
    String m_whereString = "EmpView.EMP_ID = " + P_EmpId;
    String m_OrderBy = "EmpView.EMP_NAME";
    oracle.jbo.ApplicationModule appModule = null;
    ViewObject vo = appModule.findApplicationModule("EMPBC.EMPAppModule").findViewObject("EMPBC.EMPView");
    vo.setWhereClause(m_whereString);
    vo.setOrderByClause(m_OrderBy);
    vo.executeQuery();
    vo.next();
    String empName numAttrs = vo.getAttribute(EmpName);
    System.out.println(empName);
    Thanks.

    Here is how I have usually done mine:
    1. In the JSP, use a RowsetNavigator bean to set the where clause and execute the query.
    2. Use a custom web bean to process the results of the query (print to HTML).
    for example:
    <jsp:useBean class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.RowsetNavigator" id="rsn" scope="request" >
    <%
    // get the parameter from the find form
    String p = request.getParameter("p");
    String s = request.getParameter("s");
    // store the information for reference later
    session.putValue("p", p);
    session.putValue("s", s);
    // initialize the app module and view object
    rsn.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"wt_bc_WT_bcModule.wtjoinView");
    // set the where clause string
    String theclause = "presname = '" + p + "' AND slideno=" + s;
    // set the where clause for the VO
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().setWhereClause(theclause);
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().executeQuery();
    rsn.getRowSet().first();
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    <jsp:useBean class="wt_bc.walkthruBean" id="wtb" scope="request" >
    <%
    // initialize the app module and VO
    wtb.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"wt_bc_WT_bcModule.wtjoinView");
    wtb.render();
    %>
    In this case, the render method of my custom web bean mostly gets some session variables, and prints various content depending on the session variable values.
    Hope this helps.
    </jsp:useBean><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Laura can you give the code of your walkthru bean? i wna't to initialize a viewobject, set the where clause and give that viewobject back to initialize my navigatorbar.
