Strokes on thumbnails

Hi, I used the lightbox-widget for a slightshow. My problem: my photos all have a stroke (10px white stroke, made in Photoshop). However, I don’t want that stroke to be visible on the thumbnails (because the thumbnails are 250px x 80px and show only the strokes left and right, wich is really ugly). How can I solve this stroke-problem?

Hello,
In order to do this, I would suggest you to use Lighbox widget which is present under Compositions category of widgets.
In Composition widgets, you can place different images/content in Thumbnail and Target container.
So you can place your with images (without stroke) in thumbnails and image with stroke in their corresponding target containers.
Hope this helps.

Sachin

  • Stroke thumbnail view in brush presets panel in CS6 doesn't represent pressure sensitivity

    Everytime I open photoshop the stroke thumbnail shows up with lost settings.  I can hover my pen over brush presets and press ctrl+F1 and it will change back but when i open up photoshop cs6 it does not show what the brush setting are with the stroke thumnail and I have to do it again. I know how to correct it temporarily but I would like a permanent fix for this as it is quite annoying. I have tried to open it with just my pen from my tablet and it does not help. I am running windows 7. cintiq tablet.

    Hey JJMack!
    Thank you for your response! Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be my issue. I actually think I may be running into a bug with PS6. It seems like the stroke thumbnail preview might not be receiving the information that there is pressure sensitivity turn on my cintiq.
    Here is an example below..
    As you can see here the brush I have selected obviously has pressure sensitivity and PS6 is recognizing that. But for some reason that information is not being communicated to the stroke thumbnail preview.
    What's even weirder is when you go into that brush's presets the preview below shows the stroke thumbnail fine!
    I am wondering if maybe I have some weird preference turned on hidden away somewhere... or if this is an actual bug with the program.
    thanks guys!

  • Stroke and drop shadows on thumbnails

    Hi there. I'm trying to add a stroke and drop shadow to my lightbox thumbnails. While both appear perfectly in design mode, as soon as I view the site in preview or in a browser they both disappear. Do you know what the problem might be? Many thanks! David

    Hi David,
    I tested this with Composition Lightbox as well as with Slideshow Lightbox and stroke and shadow worked fine in both the cases. I applied the effects on the Normal State. Can you please confirm on what widget have you used and on what state have you applied the effects? Also, do you have a URL for us to take a look at?

  • Stroke thumbnail view in brush presets panel in CS5 doesn't represent pressure sensitivity

    Greeting.
    Have just installed the CS5 package. Unlike it was in PS CS2, that I loved very much, I can't see whether the brushes are pressure sensitive or not in the brush presets panel of the new PS CS5 version. See the image please.
    Any option that I overlooked?
    It's a PS CS5 64 Bit version at XP64. NVidia drivers are fresh. Enough memory and processing power.
    Thank you for your responses.

    Thanks Noel. That thread was a big help. I used the last person's suggestion and so far it has corrected the problem:
    "We are running the latest driver  (6.1.6-7) and can confirm the fix you are mentioning - rolling back to  the earlier driver (6.1.5-3) fixes the issue.  However, along the way we  also found a more interesting solution - loading a set of preferences  from an older driver seems to also resolve the issue!
    We  used the Wacom file utility to clear our preferences on a machine  running the older driver (6.1.5-3), then saved out our default set of  preferences.
    On another station, after confirming an  account had the issue on the latest driver (6.1.6-7), we proceeded to  load the preferences we'd saved out of the older driver.  Presto!  The  problem vanished.  We can replicate this by bringing back the issue if  we go back to the default prefs in 6.1.6-7.
    Thought i'd share in case this is helpful for any of you.
    For  us, it's a much easier fix than having to redo wacom drivers (and  perhaps have other issues!) across multiple academic comptuer  laboratories mid-semester.

  • CS4 Bridge - Black stroke around image in Web Gallery

    More specifically, I'm using the LightRoom Flash Gallery selection as that provides just the structure that I want/need. To match my website (still in construction) I've altered the colors in Bridge's controls. Separately, I've added a frame around each image in Photoshop with a dropshadow that bleeds into the background color (again, to match the website).
    The problem is that there is a 2 pixel stroke around the image.
    Unfortunately since the image has a frame of its own with a drop shadow bleeding to the page color as part of the image, and that there's a 2 pixel stroke around the image, I've got a dropshadow contained within a stroke frame around the image that already has a frame. To my eyes it looks rather silly.
    Is there anything I can do to get rid of this stroke? You can see two images with the problem here:
    http://thecoynes.com/hdr/hdr_photographs/
    By the way, before you suggest it, in the color palette options for this Web Export, there is an option for "Border." Unfortunately that is for the 1 pixel round-corner-rectangle border around the thumbnails and image. It doesn't do anything to *this* border. In addition, the structure of this web gallery is EXACTLY like the one in LightRoom and has the exact same results and problems.
    Thanks for any help,
    Gary

    Tomrock,
    Please read the last paragraph where I start "By the way, before you suggest it..."
    In other words, yup, I've tried that and it refers to the 1 pixel border around the thumbs and the overall image.
    Thanks for suggesting anyway, I've spent way too much time on this already.

  • XML scrolling thumbnail, image loader, & Buttons [halfway works]

    Intro:
    I started a flash-based website a few years ago. Back in 2006 I was able to get a xml scrolling thumbnail, image loader to work without a glitch.
    For numerous reasons I had to put the project on hold until now. [one was that my 30 day trial of flash expired and only recently was I able to purchase the Adobe Web Suite CS4 as well as a new computer which could run the apps.]
    Last Friday saw a bump in the road in the development of my site as two, rather straightforward task, turned into something short of a nightmare as I have been unable to get past these two, seemingly, relatively simple task.
    I have posted in 4 other flash forums the issues, in detail, that I am facing - and have quite a bit of interest/views in the topic as the numbers suggest - yet no response/answer as of yet. [Which confirms other messages I have seen which seem to state that working with buttons has become increasingly difficult with the newer version of flash - something Im a bit surprised with actually from Adobe. - I would have thought there would be a palette where you could set parameters...]
    Screenshot of Site/Timeline:
    Before getting into the two questions I have, I would like to post an image of the site as it looks whenever an swf file is saved out, as well as a piece of the timeline in the back for reference.
    Issue #1
    As of now when the swf file is saved out you get exactly what you see above:
    a: A scrolling thumbnail
    b: ...which loads a large image when clicked on it - PEFECT...
    BUT...
    1a: I need for the buttons to load in this action, not for it to just load on its own.
    [i.e., the silk_paintings gallery is what is open, so I need the "silk_paintings" button to call up this action]
    note: Initially I had attacked this problem by taking out the actions layer you see above and applying it directly to the individual buttons with some crude MouseEvent Listener/Handerls... that did not work - at all.
    Im sure it may be "easier" to make an array out of it, but with my coding level it may be "easier" to apply it to the buttons.
    1b: How I currently see it, I would take the xml-list and duplicate it for the number of galleries I have.
    [I would then re-name the xml-list to reflect the name of the galleries they are to represent, i.e. "silk_paintings"]
    [also, I would have to rename the folders to "thumbnails1,2,3, etc., & "images 1,2,3, etc"
    From there I would duplicate the actions and paste it into the buttons, changing the xml-list name to that of "silk_paintings", etc., as well as write in the MouseEvent listener Handler to make it work. [ah, ha, but what is that magic phrase, I have tried to implement various code from other tutorials, and all in vein.]
    Issue #2
    At this point I would be tickled pink just to get this to basic function to work.
    However, once the buttons are working and calling up the xml, etc., then I need the buttons to stay on the semi-transparent blue color it is whenever in the 'hit' state. [note: NOT pictured above.]
    With the way the buttons are currently set up, and with wanting to use scripting to get them to interact with the thumbnail gallery, it will have to be some miraculous code to tell that button what color to stay as whenever its clicked, and of course it going back to white when another button is clicked.
    Conclusion:
    Since this is an Adobe Forum I would like to make a few additional statements in hopes that the developers, etc. may take heed.
    Adobes products are not cheap, and when I went to purchase the websuite I went in as a designer needing a program as not to need to program.
    I understand the flexibility that coding gives, but something as simple as linking buttons should not be in the realms of rocket science. [yes, for many its not...but my brain just does not operate that route despite all the tutorials thrown at me.]
    Again, it would seem that there would be a button panel where you could drag options like scrolling thumbnail slider, loader, and then parameters would come up. [much like Apples iWeb. - but before the argument of one being pro and the other for non-pros, I see it differently. Software should not be the limiting factor in how flexible you can design, or rather ones lack of programming shouldnt be. With all the talented, and I say this in all humility and honesty, programmers working for Adobe, Im sure something could be programmed like what Im asking for.]
    note: Director is a good example, back in 1997 I knew nothing of multimedia and in one week I had assembled a portfolio, clicking buttons, speech, movies, and all. - and no, I dont have the money to buy more software!
    At this moment I am at the mercy of someone who reads code like its a nighttime tale they are telling their kids, and who can see the exact issue I have and can share the appropriate, correct code. [as I have noticed, it has to be on target - naturally - but this target changes with just a slight change in the design.]
    Thank you,
    peace
    Dalen
    p.s.

    The issues with the buttons calling up the scrolling thumbnail panel have been resolved, as well as keeping the buttons in their hit state once clicked, thanks to Rob.
    Those that have been following this thread, or stumble upon it in their searches later, may appreciate to see the final solution to this particular issue.
    [Hopefully I will be able to update this thread with a url in the future to show the site in operation, which may help somebody with their project in the future if its set up similarly.]
    Alas, it would be nice if future versions of flash had a more direct, flexible, user friendly method for creating navigation.
    [We may see development beyond the flash ads which everyone seems to loathe... and more creativity with flash in terms of games, web interactivity, &  animation.

                   var xdist = _xmouse-830;
                   panel._x += -xdist/7;
    Of note is the change to how the movie clips are measured... this change in and of itself has really helped to make the thumbnail panels operation more efficient.

  • How do i add a gradient as the stroke to text instead of a solid color for PSE10

    I have PSE10 and i got thsi urge to add a gradient as the stroke to a text, but don't know  how...
    help!!!!

    Something like this might work for you:
    1. Ctrl or Cmd click on layer thumbnail in the layers panel with the text.
       That makes a selection of the text
    2. Add a new blank layer below the text layer and go to Edit>Stroke (Outline) Selection and choose Center and the size.
    3. Select>Deselect
    4. Go to Layer>New Fill Layer>Gradient and check Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask
    5. In the Gradient Fill dialog you can experiment with different gradients and settings.

  • Thumbnail/Quick Preview/Export have strange grey overlay

    I spent quite some time googling this issue, so it's starting to seem like a "just me" issue. Yet I can't find a way to solve it, so here I go asking for help.
    I have a library with a single project and a series of photos in it. Most photos have a crop, white balance, exposure, sharpen and curve global adjustments, as well as areas with definition brush strokes and dodge brush strokes. The dodge brush was used to make the "almost white" background around product in the shot completely white.
    The thumbnails display a light grey (around 250;250;250 RGB, although it varies a bit) blotchy overlay in the areas of the image that are expected to be white. When I click on a thumbnail to bring up the larger image into view, for the first few seconds, while the "loading" spinner is visible on top, the grey overlay can also be seen on the enlarged image. After loading is finished, it disappears. If I turn on the Quick Preview mode, the grey overlay persists and does not go away. Images that I have viewed enlarged with Quick Preview turned off continue to display correctly when I come back to them after looking at other images, as if they are cached in memory. After I view a few dozen images, though, these correct versions seem to be evicted from cache, and I get the grey overlay during the "loading" period again.
    The grey overlay does not correspond one-to-one with the area where brush strokes have been applied.
    The scariest part of it all is that when I try to export versions, they are exported with the grey overlay intact.
    I have tried rebuilding thumbnails, reprocessing masters, repairing permissions, repairing the database. The problem persists. I have tried disabling the dodge adjustment but unchecking it and then checking it again. The problem persists. I have tried removing the dodge adjustment and then brushing it on from scratch. The problem persists.
    Out of ideas now. Please help. I would love to attach screenshots, but don't see an option to do so.

    All you are seeing is the difference between the fully-decoded image created on the fly by applying the adjustments saved as instructions in the Version text file to the Master image file, and the Preview created according to the parameters you set in Preferences.

  • Scrolling Thumbnail Panel Problems

    I'm creating a personal portfolio website in flash. the
    address is
    http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~motiv8/AlexBimpson/AlexBimpson%20New/
    On the "photo" page, by clicking on view portfolio a
    scrolling humbnail gallery appears, however as you can see it moves
    extremely jerkily.
    This seems to be because the "photo" page is a seperate flash
    movie loaded into the main navigation page, a parent swf file,
    hence you see the loading animations when you switch pages on the
    website.
    If you access the photo swf file alone the scrollbar seems to
    work fine. its address is
    http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~motiv8/AlexBimpson/AlexBimpson%20New/flash/photo/photo.swf
    the coding for the panel is taken from a video tutorial, and
    seems to work fine. i have displayed this below
    panel.onRollOver = panelOver;
    function panelOver() {
    this.onEnterFrame = scrollPanel;
    delete this.onRollOver;
    var b = stroke.getBounds(_root);
    function scrollPanel() {
    if (_xmouse<b.xMin || _xmouse>b.xMax ||
    _ymouse<b.yMin || _ymouse>b.yMax) {
    this.onRollOver = panelOver;
    delete this.onEnterFrame;
    if(panel._x >= 214) {
    panel._x = 214;
    if(panel._x <= -1272) {
    panel._x = -1272;
    var xdist = _xmouse - 384;
    panel._x += -xdist / 8;
    where 'panel' is the mask object used to create the bounding
    area for the thumbnail panel and 'stroke' is a surrounding outline,
    hidden as white colour.
    Is anyone able to tell me why loading one movie into another
    is having this effect, and how I go about overcoming this problem?
    I've noticed that the panel seems 2 work with the mouse below
    the thumbnail panel in the parent site, so it all seems a little
    buggy - im guessing there's something that needs changing in the
    referencing for the stroke and panel, but as of yet I havent found
    a solution.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks very much
    alex

    ok, i think ive figured out where the problem lies, but not
    how to solve it.
    the movie "stroke" is used there because apparently a flash
    scrollPanel does not recognise button actions. Therefore, when you
    are over the panel, it is no longer set as a scrollPanel. however,
    once you move outside the stroke, it will again.
    the boundaries of the stroke are gathered using the getbounds
    function, as in this code
    var b = stroke.getBounds(_root);
    function scrollPanel() {
    if (_xmouse<b.xMin || _xmouse>b.xMax ||
    _ymouse<b.yMin || _ymouse>b.yMax) {
    this.onRollOver = panelOver;
    delete this.onEnterFrame;
    however, because this movie is loaded within another swf,
    something is going wrong with getting the bounds. at the moment it
    uses _root to reference the stroke, but this doesnt seem 2 work
    when loaded within the parent movie. I've tried using _parent but
    this has no effect.
    i guess i need 2 change that 2 something else???

  • Slowing Down Scrolling Thumbnails

    Hello everyone,
    I've put together one of those great masked scrolling
    thumbnail panels by working through a tutorial. I'd like to slow it
    down a bit, could someone suggest how this is done. Here's the
    code:
    panel.onRollOver = panelOver;
    function panelOver() {
    this.onEnterFrame = scrollPanel;
    delete this.onRollOver;
    var b = stroke.getBounds(_root);
    function scrollPanel() {
    if(_xmouse<b.xMin || _xmouse>b.xMax ||
    _ymouse<b.yMin || _ymouse>b.yMax) {
    this.onRollOver = panelOver;
    delete this.onEnterFrame;
    if(panel._y >= 60) {
    panel._y = 60;
    if(panel._y <= -1000) {
    panel._y = -1000;
    var xdist = _ymouse - 250;
    panel._y += Math.round(-xdist / 7);
    Thanks.
    Darren.

    >>panel._y += Math.round(-xdist / 7);
    I'd start here, by dividing by a number greater than 7.

  • How do i remove the instant stroke on all shape tools?

    Hello, I just installed CS6, and I'm having serious problems w/ a few things. Mainly this issue:
    As you can see, everytime I create an object, a stroke is added to it. And you can also see on the layers path, a small little box is also added. Here's the weird part, when I try and change the images color, I get a popup saying that this object needs to be "rasterized" before changing the color. Then when the color changes, it changes the shape object to what i need it to be, so i'm super confused and cannot find the option anywhere.
    Any idea on how to get rid of this instant stroke issue?
    simple noob directions is probably the best way for me to learn, thanks in advance

    CS6 has a new feature for vector Shape layers: a Shape can have a stroke (other than Layer Style Stroke). If you want a Shape without stroke in future, ensure the stroke is disabled or set to size 0 in Options bar of a vector tool. The symbol you saw on the layer thumbnail indicates a Shape layer.

  • Stroke (Outline) Selection grayed out

    I would like to outline a selection. After I select it and go to Edit, Stroke (Outline) Selection is grayed out. Please advise.

    The selection has to be active. You can determine this if you see "marching ants" surrounding the selection.
    Try this:
    Open picture files, make your selection with one of the tools, e.g. lasso, selection brush
    Go to Layer>new>layer via copy. Now the selection will be on its own layer, but not active - no marching ants
    Press CTRL + left click the layer thumbnail for the selection, and the marching ants show up
    Go to Edit>stroke. Position inside, use contrasting color vs. background
    Please report back with your progress.

  • How to make a thumbnail gallery page that'll open individual slideshows?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to make a gallery of thumbnails for album covers I did, and want for it to open its own slideshow (on the same page / as a typical slideshow pop up) when a person clicks on one so he/she can view the main image and a few more thumbnails on its side for other artwork panels (as well as use the arrows if possible).
    Anyone got an idea for an easier way to do this?
    Thanks! I'm going insane over this... And it seems like this could be the easiest thing, but somehow I can't find a way...
    (idem for B and C and so forth)
    =

    Hi,
    That would seem to be the perfect logical answer. But guess what? I've tried this many times without any luck. I MUST be doing something wrong, but simply have no clue what it is. SO I'll describe every tiny step, and maybe you can see where I'm at fault.
    1- I drag & drop a Lightbox display from the the composition folder in the Widget library on a blank page.
    2- I delete 2 of the 3 default thumbnails from above the main target/container,
    3- I select the remaining whitest thumbnail, go on the FILL option the left corner, and add an image from my files. I choose scale to fit and make it the size I want.
    4- I open the Trigger option in the upper left area and do the same for the "Normal" state (as a default, Muse puts it on the "Active" one). Now all my states have the same image. I also remove the stroke and fill color behind.
    4- I select the default gray bars with arrows within the CONTAINER below and remove them (simply because I intend to change them with my own design and to make sure I don't stumble on them for the forthcoming steps)
    5- I select the TARGET area and then go to my FILL option and change the white area to "no color".
    6- I then select the CONTAINER area and change the default back color to an image of my choice (a background that I put at 80% transparency).
    7- I re-select the TARGET area and drop a Lightbox widget from the Slideshows folder in the Widget library into the selected TARGET area. I resize it to my liking.
    8- I go and click on the upper right option button (white arrow under a blue circle) of this new Lightbox to add the images I want.
    9- As predicted, the images appear as they should: One big in the center and the proper amount of thumbnails above. When I click on them, they appear sequentially below also as intented.
    10- At this point all should be great and working (I think), so I go in the preview section (and also tried via the Preview in Browser (crtl+shift+e)) and what appears, is my page with the actual thumbnail of the cover (again, as it should). BUT here comes the bug::::
    Once I click on it, the Lightbox slideshow pops up, and all shows up but the actual center main image (as well as its default black area behind the image), e.g. what should be the bigger version of the 1rst thumbnail from the series above it. I try to click on the other thumbnails above the invisible image and nothing happens. Actually something does happen, because if I decide to click outside of the of the main image area, ONLY then all fades again and my main image pops up ALONE, everything else fades away! So to get out of there, I have to reclick outside but I'm then pushed back to the main original thumbnail gallery....
    So it feels like it sorts of become like a 3rd level thing and this is obviously not what is needed...
    Any idea what's problematic?!
    Much thanks for having taken the time to read my little novel here! ; )
    If this is not quite clear still, I could post a video of all of what I'm doing and the resulting problem.

  • Spacing a scrolling thumbnail gallery

    Hiya,
    OK...easiest thing is for you to take a look at this
    CLICK FOR SAMPLE
    Click on photo...click to view portfolio...click landscapes
    and you'll get an idea of what i'm trying to achieve.
    The idea is that when you roll over the images they grow to
    give a larger view. Each thumbnail is a movie with action script to
    make it expand on rollover and shrink on rollout.
    As you can see, when the images expand they overlap the
    thumbnails and appear under the thumbnails on the right...doesnt
    look too impressive. Obviously the effect i wish to achieve is that
    the thumbnails spread either side of the enlarged image. Is there
    any coding I can sue to achieve this?
    Alternatively (and possibly in preference to this) is it
    possible to create the effect of a mac dock - i.e. the images
    gradually get smaller away from the cursor -
    SEE
    THIS IMAGE. I'm guessing I would need to define an objects size
    depending upon how close to its centre the cursor is.
    Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks very much!
    Alex

    Hello aniebel,
    i am trying to create the same sort of panel scroll but am
    having trouble having the panel sroll from left to right when mouse
    is over. here is what i have so far:
    panel.onRollOver = panelOver;
    function panelOver() {
    this.onEnterFrame = scrollPanel;
    delete this.onRollOver;
    var b = stroke.getBounds(_root)
    function scrollPanel () {
    if(_xmouse<b.xMin || _xmouse>b.Max ||
    _ymouse<b.yMin || _ymouse>b.yMax);
    this.onRollOver = panelOver;
    delete this.onEnterFrame
    if(panel._x >= -348.2) {
    panel._x = -348.2;
    if(panel._x >=-839.5) {
    panel._x = -839.5;
    var xdist = _xmouse -383;
    panel._x += -xdist / 7;{
    does this make sense??? or am i just confusing things??
    thanks in advance.
