Struts in eclipse

Can I use struts in eclipse without using a plugin for struts? If so, please guide me.
Thanks
Shravan

yes u can use
Use the lomboz plugin for J2ee in eclipse
Create and edit the struts-config.xml and Web.xml
For Struts-config.xml u may download the struts-console plugin. It generates the Xml file.
Add the appropriate tags to web.xml
Add the action servlet to web.xml

Should I be putting this javax.servlet.jar file elsewhere too?

    into

    to develop struts in eclipse,download
    eclipse v2.1 version,
    struts 1.1
    but now we are getting latest versions of eclipse and struts too,,
    like eclipse 3.3 and Struts 2.0.11....
    but to write struts in eclipse,if we use the old version,we will loose some of the features....
    Is the new versions of both Struts and eclipse does not support to develop struts application using eclipse IDE?

  • NoClassDefFoundError while validating JSP

    Hello, I am using the trial version of NitroX for Struts with Eclipse 3.0.2. Everything seemed to be OK for the first 5 days or so, but now, every time I do a build, I get this warning in the "Problems" tab of the Web Perspective:
    Run-time exception java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError occurred during validation. The validator being run was JSP Validator and the message thrown was com/genuitec/eclipse/core/util/Util. I get one of these messages for every JSP in my project, regardless of simplicity. Thank you in advance any help/advice you can give.

    Hi,
    What are the different plug-ins configured for your eclipse?
    Send the following log files to [email protected]

    Alright, I'll try to keep it as simple as possible. If that's not going to work out, we can always complicate it later :)
    I suppose you had a look at the link and I assume you know about threads.
    We can easily fix this issue if you are instantiating, calling and disposing the object within one thread, e.g. you use it only in one method like
    public mySwtExecutionMethod(String fileName){
      WordSearchReplace replace = new WordSearchReplace();
      // do your replacing here
      replace.dispose();
      // no reference to replace is left so it won't escape this thread
    }Now the fix for your class becomes simple. As you remember from the link, you have to call all methods from within the UI thread. We will now create a Display every time upon instantiation of WordSearchReplace, so the current thread becomes the UI thread.
    I had a look at the constructor, and the overhead doesn't seem that bad, provided this is not a dedicated search&replace server.
    private final Display display;
    public WordSearchReplace()
         display = new Display(); // create display
         this.shell = new Shell(display);   // initialize shell with new display so this thread becomes the UI thread
         this.frame = new OleFrame(this.shell, SWT.NONE);
         this.wordSite = new OleClientSite(this.frame, SWT.NONE, WordSearchReplace.PROG_ID);
         this.wordAutomation = new OleAutomation(this.wordSite);
    }Since we always create a new Display, we should also dispose it. There is already a dispose() method, so we just have to add to it
    display.dispose();That's it!
    If you hold on longer to your reference and this isn't working for you, you'd have to do a lot more synchronizing and that the UI thread still exist as long as the reference.
    Wish you good luck

  • Is it possible to create struts jsp project in eclipse?

    Hi,
    I have just downloaded the eclipse WST project and it lets me create most types of java projects but I can't see an option for creating a struts java project. Can you create struts projects in eclipse?
    Although this is neither an eclipse nor a struts forum, that someone may have some experience in the struts/eclipse area and be able to answer my question.
    Thanks in advance,
    A

    I never used Struts and I never used J2EE stuffwith
    Eclipse. :) Basicall,y you can write everythingwith
    Eclipse, of course. But I thought the OP waslooking
    for special support.I should have underlined "need". Most of the other
    developers I work with use MyEclipse ... then moan at
    me because none of my projects have a WebRoot
    directory.rather because they don't know how to configure it with MyEclipse
    Good tool-users are often more important than good tools themselves ;-)

    Hello, i downloaded these Struts-Example-war-files (struts-el-example-1.3.8, etc.) and i want to edit and compile some of the java-files with Eclipse. How can i make an Eclipse-project out of it? My trials brought me only the errormessages like:

    The type org.apache.commons.beanutils.DynaBean cannot be resolved.Add that class (or the JAR containing that class) to the buildpath/classpath. If I am correct, it is available in commons-beanutils.jar from the apache.org site.

    We are aware of few serious issues with the (really-just-released :)) 3.1M7, including this one.
    Cannot promise a date, but we expect to have a build that supports 3.1M7 sometime in the coming couple of weeks.
    Thanks,

  • FREEEEE struts/jsp editor plugin for Eclipse

    Hi guys,
    I am tired of searching for struts/jsp editor plugin for Eclipse. I tried the trail version for Exadel, My eclipse, Lomboz, but none of them are good enough. I dont want to pay for a plugin.
    So I downloaded Netbeans IDE which has good support for struts. But I dont want to change my Eclipse IDE because its much better.
    In case you are already using a good struts/jsp editor plugin for Eclipse then please advice me ASAP.
    I dont want to type up the code like <html:text or wait for runtime compilation to realize that there is a problem in the syntax. Wouldnt it be a lot better if the IDE help us reduce the development time.
    Thanx

    Thanx for your reply.
    I used JDeveloper with Oracle many years back. That time I found it to be slow. Maybe it must have improved by now.
    Today I downloaded EasyEclipse which is built on Excipse 3.1
