Stuck on extracting row with smallest sequence_num

I have this SQL from the po.po_action_history table in Oracle EBS:
SELECT pah.object_id
     , pah.object_sub_type_code
     , pah.sequence_num
     , pah.action_code
  FROM po.po_action_history pah
     , hr.per_all_people_f papf
     , po.po_requisition_headers_all prha
WHERE pah.object_id = prha.requisition_header_id
   AND pah.employee_id = papf.person_id
   AND SYSDATE BETWEEN papf.effective_start_date AND papf.effective_end_date
   AND pah.object_type_code = 'REQUISITION'
   AND pah.action_code = 'APPROVE'
   AND prha.segment1 = '5079536';
OBJECT_ID OBJECT_SUB_TYPE_CODE      SEQUENCE_NUM ACTION_CODE
    851265 PURCHASE                             4 APPROVE
    851265 PURCHASE                             9 APPROVE
    851265 PURCHASE                             2 APPROVE
    851265 PURCHASE                             6 APPROVE
4 rows selected.I need to only return the row with the smallest SEQUENCE_NUM, but I can't work out how to do it.
If this was MySQL, I could just do:
SELECT pah.object_id
     , pah.object_sub_type_code
     , pah.sequence_num
     , pah.action_code
  FROM po.po_action_history pah
     , hr.per_all_people_f papf
     , po.po_requisition_headers_all prha
WHERE pah.object_id = prha.requisition_header_id
   AND pah.employee_id = papf.person_id
   AND SYSDATE BETWEEN papf.effective_start_date AND papf.effective_end_date
   AND pah.object_type_code = 'REQUISITION'
   AND pah.action_code = 'APPROVE'
   AND prha.segment1 = '5079536'
   ORDER BY sequence_num ASC LIMIT 1;But I know that's a waste of time as it isn't MySQL! But hopefully you can see my point. The above is just an example - I know I could just say "WHERE sequence_num= 2", but I have a whole load of transactions I need to analyse, and for each one I need to return the info from the po_action_history table for the earliest / first instance where the action_code = APPROVE.
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi ,
You can try to use the rank function to acheive the desired results.
As you have not posted the create/insert statements am using the with clause to populate the data
Try this code
WITH t AS
  SELECT '851265' AS OBJECT_ID,'PURCHASE' AS OBJECT_SUB_TYPE_CODE,'4' AS SEQUENCE_NUM,'APPROVE' AS ACTION_CODE
  FROM dual
  UNION ALL
  SELECT '851265','PURCHASE','9','APPROVE'
  FROM dual
  UNION ALL
  SELECT '851265','PURCHASE','2','APPROVE'
  FROM dual
  UNION ALL
  SELECT '851265','PURCHASE','6','APPROVE'
  FROM dual
  UNION ALL
  SELECT '851266','PURCHASE','6','APPROVE'
  FROM dual
  UNION ALL
  SELECT '851266','PURCHASE','4','APPROVE'
  FROM dual
  UNION ALL
  SELECT '851266','PURCHASE','8','APPROVE'
  FROM dual
  UNION ALL
  SELECT '851266','PURCHASE','5','APPROVE'
  FROM dual
  UNION ALL
  SELECT '851266','PURCHASE','3','APPROVE'
  FROM dual
SELECT object_id,object_sub_type_code,SEQUENCE_NUM
FROM (
SELECT object_id,object_sub_type_code,SEQUENCE_NUM,ACTION_CODE,rank() OVER (PARTITION BY OBJECT_ID ORDER BY SEQUENCE_NUM ) rn
FROM t)
where rn=1Modify your query like mentioned below
SELECT object_id,object_sub_type_code,SEQUENCE_NUM
FROM (
SELECT object_id,object_sub_type_code,SEQUENCE_NUM,ACTION_CODE,rank() OVER (PARTITION BY OBJECT_ID ORDER BY SEQUENCE_NUM ) rn
FROM t)
where rn=1Hope this helps.

  • Sharepoint Export API - Returning rows with a starting row beyond 5000

    Until this last week I have been using looping REST connector logic to extract all of our customers Sharepoint data through the Export API. I was doing this by incrementing the starting row for each call by 500 with a row limit of 500 for each call. I kept
    doing this until the greatest returned row was equal to the total rows with duplicates. This ran in a deployed/automated fashion for the last two weeks. At the start of this week our customer noticed that we were only receiving roughly the number of unique
    customers (~4.9k) rather than the entire dataset (~27k). When I attempt to manually pull data from any point beyond a row count of 5000 I receive zero rows back.
    Has something changed with the API recently that would cause this to happen? If not with the API, could a change in permission levels/setting cause this?
    Thank you for your time,
    Bryan

    Hi Martin,
    Sorry for the late...very late reply, no I didn´t solved it and now we really need to get this issue sorted out. Since last time I have installed a new DPM 2012 R2 server for the customer, and the exact same error still occurs :(
    So my question in return, have you solved it yet ?
    If so, it would be great if you can reply with the solution.
    If not, MS please advise A.S.A.P
    Thx /Tony

  • Stuck on "extracting

    I have been trying to download Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and it is stuck on "extracting" - thoughts?

    Distractions cancel the download and start the process again.  Please make sure to choose a folder/directory to download the installation files where you have proper read/write access.  By default the installation files will be saved to your User folder.  I would recommend accepting the default and then running the installation once the download is complete.
    If you continue to face difficulties with the download process then please see Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html.

  • Open Hub: How-to doc "How to Extract data with Open Hub to a Logical File"

    Hi all,
    We are using open hub to download transaction files from infocubes to application server, and would like to have filename which is dynamic based period and year, i.e. period and year of the transaction data to be downloaded.
    I understand we could use logical file for this purpose.  However we are not sure how to have the period and year to be dynamically derived in filename.
    I have read in sdn a number of posted messages on a similar topic and many have suggested a 'How-to' paper titled "How to Extract data with Open Hub to a Logical Filename".  However i could not seem to be able to get document from the link given.
    Just wonder if anyone has the correct or latest link to the document, or would appreciate if you could share the document with all in sdn if you have a copy.
    Many thanks and best regards,
    Victoria

    Hi,
    After creating open hub press F1 in Application server file name text box from the help window there u Click on Maintain 'Client independent file names and file paths'  then u will be taken to the Implementation guide screen > click on Cross client maintanance of file name > create a logical file path by clicking on new entiries > after creating logical file path now go to Logical file name definition there give your Logical file , name , physical file (ur file name followed by month or year what ever is applicable (press f1 for more info)) , data format (ASC) , application area (BW) and logical path (choose from F4 selection which u have created first), now goto Assignment of  physical path to logical path > give syntax group >physical path is the path u gave at logical file name definition.
    however we have created a logical path file name to identify the file by sys date but ur requirement seems to be of dynamic date of tranaction data...may u can achieve this by creating a variable. U can see the help from F1 that would be of much help to u. All the above steps i have explained will help u create a dynamic logical file.
    hope this helps u to some extent.

  • Calculating values from row to row with pure sql?

    Hello,
    I'm searching for a way to calculate values from row to row with pure sql. I need to create an amortisation table. How should it work:
    Known values at start: (they can be derived with an ordinary sql-statement)
    - redemption amount RA
    - number of payment terms NT
    - annuity P (is constant in every month)
    - interest rate IR
    What has to be calculated:
    First row:
    RA1 = RA - P
    Z1 = (RA1 * (IR/100/12))
    T1 = P - Z1
    2nd row
    RA2 = RA1 - T1
    Z2 = (RA2 * (IR/100/12))
    T2 = P - Z2
    and so on until NT has reached.
    It should look like
    NT
    P
    Tn
    Zn
    RAn

  • Can I use Front Row with my Macbook closed?

    I just got a mini-dvi to video cable for my macbook. I love using front row with it but I was wondering if there was a way that you could use front row with the laptop closed. Oh and I'm using tiger, so its not the new version of front row.

    With your computer attached to a keyboard you should be able to wake it from sleep and run it properly with the lid closed.

  • Report Row With Detail (AJAX) by Carl - How to implement?

    I just had a look at Carl's example place and I'd like to implement his Report Row With Detail feature. But how, it's made up of 3 sections:
    1. a query
    2. javascript
    3. application process
    The query on which the report is based and where I want this feature is:
    select leverancier, artnr, vendorcode from plijst where productgroep = :p1_assortiment_tree or subgroep = :p1_assortiment_tree
    A break is defined on Leverancier
    I understand the query and the application process part. But where goes the Java part???

    Tried to upload your example application, unfortunately it does not seem to upload properly in my APEX v2.0 environment
    Can you please confirm if your example works with APEX version 2
    and does the Javascript go in the Page Header or Region Header/ Footer area
    thankyou

  • Report Row With Detail (IFRAME)

    Hi,
    I am trying to implement the Report Row with Detail but not successful.
    I have gone thru the various threads in the forum.. but i am unable to
    get it. It would be great if I could know the step by step process to do the same.
    I have created two regions. The first region (the query to it) also
    has a show_region link.. I have copied and pasted the javascript given
    by Carl.
    Thanks,
    shilpa.

    Hello,
    Ok then you are almost there so when you submit the form to update your data on a sucessful save you are going to create a plsql region that just uses htp.p() to write out the javascript to update the report in the main page.
    a simple example would be something like this.
    Lets say I'm getting back values to update the two first table cells on my parent report.
    <script>
    /*set up call back function*/
    function ReportRowUpdate(){
    var lRow = parent.g_LastRowOpened; /* hook to last row clicked */
    lRow.cells[0].innerHTML = 'SOME VALUE FROM DATABASE 1';
    lRow.cells[1].innerHTML = 'SOME VALUE FROM DATABASE 2';
    /*call call back function*/
    ReportRowUpdate();
    </script>
    And that should be it.

  • Report Row With Detail (IFRAME) - How to reload Main Page within iFrame

    Hi,
    Based on Carl's example - Report Row With Detail (IFRAME), i.e:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:17
    Within my scenario, I have a button within the iframe section of my report that calls a pl/sql process that performs some database processing.
    What I basically need is a means of performing a page refresh of the main page, when this button within the iframe is pressed. In Carl's example, that would be page 17.
    As mentioned, I call a PL/SQL process within the iframe, but unsure how to then refresh the main page - parent page.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Tony,
    you could insert the following script to the region footer of a region located on your "iframe"-page.
    <script>
    parent.location.reload();
    </script>
    But this is dangerous because everytime the parent is being reloaded, the iframe is loaded, too. Risk of loop...
    A possible solution is to conditionally display a html region (with the script) on your iframe-page basing on a request. You could post the request as a result after your plsql processing in a branch.
    Regards,
    Jens
