Stuck with the jwdsp1-1 web services tutorial

I'm busy trying to complete this tutorial:
http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.1/tutorial/doc/JAXRPC.html#wp72279
but at the stage of
'Compiling the Service Definition Code
To compile HelloIF.java and HelloImpl.java, go to the <JWSDP_HOME>/docs/tutorial/examples/jaxrpc/hello directory and type the following:
ant compile-server
I get stuck since i get a lot NoClassDefFoundErrors. Before I reached this stage I executed all previous steps and the only thing I figure that could be wrong is the path variables that need to be set, as stated earlier in the tutorial.
Nevertheless i get exceptions in totally different and some non-existent directories:
C:\jwsdp-1.1\docs\tutorial\examples\jaxrpc\hello>ant compile-server
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Files\j2sdk1/4/1_01\lib\tools/jar;C:\jwsdp-1/1\jakarta-ant-1/5/1\//\server\lib\catalina-ant/jar;C:\jwsdp-1/1\jakarta-ant-1/5/1\//\jaxp-1/2/2\lib\jaxp-api/jar;C:\jwsdp-1/1\jakarta-ant-1/5/1\//\jaxp-1/2/2\lib\endorsed\xsltc/jar;C:\jwsdp-1/1\jakarta-ant-1/5/1\//\jaxp-1/2/2\lib\endorsed\xercesImpl/jar;C:\jwsdp-1/1\jakarta-ant-1/5/1\//\jaxp-1/2

This is the total error message i get when executing the command: ant compile-server
Could anyone help me out here since I have no clue on how to solve this.
Thanks

I created a .bat file, rather than set environment variables. I called it set-env.bat, and it looked like this:
set path=c:\Programming\Java\j2sdk1.4.1_03\bin;%path%
set path=c:\Programming\Java\jwsdp-1.1\bin;%path%
set path=c:\Programming\Java\jwsdp-1.1\jwsdp-shared\bin;%path%
set path=c:\Programming\Java\jwsdp-1.1\jaxrpc-1.0.3\bin;%path%
set path=c:\Programming\Java\jwsdp-1.1\jakarta-ant-1.5.1\bin;%path%
Enter these lines in a text editor and save them as "set-env.bat" as a text file in your root directory (c:). Then start a DOS prompt (Start-Programs-Accessories-Command Prompt) and at the prompt type "set-env" (without the quotes). Then you can go to the directory where your examples are located and follow the directions in the tutorial.

  • Error communicating with the Cluster Manage Web Service

    Hi,
i connected oracle database with the Endeca Studio but while uploading Departments dataset i m getting this error
"Error communicating with the Cluster Manage Web Service" so plz can anyone explain me wat is this error about.
    thanks in advance

I actually ran into this myself- as Pat notes, it's hard to say without seeing log files, but I think that perhaps the default domain profile that the Endeca Server uses for domains created using Provisioning services has not been created.  First see what domain profiles exist.  Navigate to wherever endeca-cmd lives (e.g., user_projects/domains/endeca_server_domain/EndecaServer/bin), and use the list-dd-profile command:
    -bash-3.2$ ./endeca-cmd.sh list-dd-profiles
The profiles that exist will be returned in your terminal window:
    prov_dd_profile
    default
If you only see 'default', then you will need to create 'prov_dd_profile'
    ./endeca-cmd.sh put-dd-profile prov_dd_profile
Then try uploading your file again in Studio.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

  • SQL 2012 R2 - SSRS with the Report Server Web Service URL, can't access

    Hello:
I am installing Dynamics CRM 2013.  When I am on RS Configuration manager; I am running into the SSRS (SQL 2012 on Server 2012)SQL issue, can't access the
    http://servername/:80/ReportsServer or
    http://servername/:Reports web pages
The database server has SSRS native mode installed, it is using a domain account for the service credentials.  This account also has permission to log on a service in the GPO
Account is a domain admin and is a local administrator
SQL server is 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2012.  User base is less than 60 people and they have SharePoint 13 on the same SQL server.  Server more than enough resources.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks..Dan

    Hi DCas1,
According to your description, you could not access
http://servername/:80/ReportsServer or http://servername/:Reports web pages from Reporting Services configuration manager, SSRS in configured in native mode and the account you used is a local administrator.
In Reporting Services, URLs are used to access the Report Server Web service and Report Manager. Before we can use either application, we need to configure at least one URL each for the Web service and Report Manager. If we are using the Reporting Services
Configuration tool to create or modify the URLs, we can accept the default values for a URL or specify custom values. When we create a report server URL, we must specify the following parts: Host name, port and Virtual directory. In order to improve the efficiency
of troubleshooting, I need to ask several questions:
Since the default URL is http://<computername>/reportserver, did you type the URLs manually? or the URLs configured in Reporting Services configuration manager are
    http://servername/:80/ReportServer and
    http://servername/:Reports?
Could you provide detailed information of error log(default location: %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles)?
For more information about Configuring a URL, please refer to the following documents:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630447(v=sql.110).aspx
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • In Java EE 7's Firstcup tutorial, why does does the web tier consume the data from the dukes-age web service?

In the Firstcup tutorial, the responsibilities of the web tier are listed as:
dynamically generate content for the client
    collect input from the user
return results from business tier components
control the flow of client screens & pages
    maintain session state
    perform basic logic
hold data temporarily in JavaBeans components
Which of these responsibilities would retrieving data from a web service fall under?
The tutorial also lists the technologies used in the web tier, and JAX-RS is not included in that list. The list of technologies used by the business tier does, however, list JAX-RS. I was surprised to find the DukesBDay JavaBeans component (in the web tier) calling the dukes-age web service, instead of the DukesBirthdayBean EnterpriseBean (in the business tier), which uses hard coded value for Duke's birth date.
Is it typical for the web tier to consume web services in this way? What about when using an application client container, wouldn't that skip the web tier altogether, and in doing so also skip the web service call? Wouldn't DukesBirthdayBean in the business tier benefit from making the call to the web service, instead of having the date hard coded into it, and wouldn't this also solve the problem of the missing web service call when using an application client container?

    Hi Shadab,
Here is a list of Web service standards supported by SAP in NetWeaver 7.1.1: [Supported Standards|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/44/624479f7e608fae10000000a422035/frameset.htm] (also in [7.0|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/44/624479f7e608fae10000000a422035/frameset.htm] and [7.0.1|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/EN/44/624479f7e608fae10000000a422035/frameset.htm]). The Enterprise Services adhere to these standards, and on the provider side you have the tools to configure the authentication settings as needed. On the consumer side, one just has to use a Java release (or any other platform) that supports these standards.
While I am not a Java developer, there should be [many ways to consume a Web service in Java|http://www.google.bg/search?q=consumewebservice+java].
    Hope this helps,
    Rossen

I just signed up with Verizon 45 days ago and am unhappy with my service. I know about the ETF fee of $350/ per line but are there any other fees I will need to pay for the actual phone.

There are no other fees. You are not stuck with the phone, you can do whatever you would like to do with it.

  • Trouble With Web Services Tutorial Examples

I am having trouble getting the Web Services Tutorial examples to run.
For example, when I compiled the hello1 example, and tried to run it, I got a directory listing. All the directory listing contained was the dukewaving.gif file.
When I tried to run hello2, I got something similar. This time though, there were two jsp files in the listing. By clicking on the first one, I was able to run the application.
Now I can't run the bookstore1 example. I went back a second time, to be sure that I was following the instructions exactly as written. I am gettng an HTTP Status 404 - Servlet BookStoreServlet is not available.
I don't know why this is happening. There were no errors when I ran the Ant targets, and the WAR file did get copied to the webapps directory.
I would be very grateful for any help. I am very new to Java and am finding this very frustrating.
    Thank You,
    Chrissy

  • Could not run the bookstore1 example from the Java Web Services Tutorial

The bookstore1 servlets example from the Java Web Services Tutorial (issue Aug 1, 2002) was built and deployed successfully by using the deploytool (following the steps described on pages 498ff of the tutorial).
After deploying the application the Tomcat Web Application Manager shows the entry:
    /bookstore1:stopped:0:D:\Programme\Java\tomcat\jakarta-tomcat-4.1.8\work\Standalone\localhost\manager\bookstore1.war
    when entering the command: http://localhost:8080/manager/list.
After entering the command: http://localhost:8080/manager/start?path=/bookstore1, the (uncomplete) message appears:
FAIL - Application at context path /bookstore1 could not
It should be noted that I was able to build and deploy the application GSApp (chapter 3 of the tutorial) successfully.

    Ok...this is driving me nuts!!!
I am getting the same error (blah blah blah...ListTask cannot be found) and I have looked over the forum and copied over the catalina-ant.jar file into the apache-ant/lib dir. I have also included every path I can think of in the PATH env var and CLASSPATH env var...

    Hi,
Unfortunately, your web service is failing at runtime because JDeveloper (and more specifically, the embedded OC4J) is installed in a directory whose path contains a space character. If you move JDeveloper from "Program Files" to another directory, perhaps "Program_Files", then it'll all go smoothly.
Apologies if this causes you inconvenience.
    Regards,
    Alan.

    Hi Azeem.
Check out values specified for JAVA_HOME, PATH and CLASSPATH under environment variable. Was facing the same problem. Changed the values to point to jdk1.5 and it is working now.
    BTW.
You don't have to uninstall jdk1.4.

    Hi Vivek,
This problem occurs when Web Service provider is not reachable , it means the server which provides services to the WSDL is temporally down or not reachable . To check whether the services is reachable , you could paste the WSDL URL in your internet browser , if it opens then problem is with NWDS configuration of proxy else sever is not reachable .
In your case problem is not with NWDS but with server as it looks that it is temprorarly down. To avoid such problem in future you could also store the WSDL file locally on your system and then can import ( obvioulsy you requires at least once to get the WSDL ) . This will help only while modelling the application to run you will require the service provider to be up and runnning
You could use other tutorials to try AWS Model in Web Dynpro .
    regards
    Dhawal

  • Deployment failure in web services tutorial

In http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.2/tutorial/doc/index.html I have got as far as Chapter 3: Getting Started with Tomcat and attempted to build and run the /gs example. I have HTTP error 404, apparently for neither of the possible reasons given in the FAQ; the error has persisted although the system is quiescent and all of the required example files are present as expected.
    I am running Windows 2000.
I have installed the web services tutorial at C:\oracle-xml\jwstutorial12.

Java Web Services Developer Pack/1.2I would be grateful if someone would point out what I have missed.

    Thank you for the reply.
I have jwsdp-1.2 (not 1.3) and the version of Tomcat that was packaged with that is the only one I have.
The complete file structure for the gs application has been built at C:\oracle-xml\jwstutorial12\examples\gs. The directory C:\jwsdp-1.2\work\Catalina\localhost\gs exists but it is empty.
When you mention ant scripts, does that mean build.xml? Is the operation you describe performed in a <target> element? How do I set it up? I could not spot anything in the Ant manual.
I notice that C:\oracle-xml\jwstutorial12\examples\common\targets.xml is not well-formed. It consists of a lot of <taskdef> and <target> elements all at document root level.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Compatability with Java 5 EE Web Services

I am new to Flash 8. I am trying to consume a web service
that is running on my Java EE 5 (GlassFish) application server.
First, can anyone comment on compatability of Flash 8 with web
services not created with Cold Fusion.
I am able to connect and execute a sample web (wsdl at
    http://www.flash-mx.com/mm/tips/tips.cfc?wsdl).
    This works for me.
But when I try to call a very simple service that I have
    defined using Java JAX-WS, I don't see a response. I have attached
action script code and xml for my wsdl.
Most samples and tutorials that I have seen so far involve
web services defined in ColdFusion. However, what I need to do in
my Flash 8 document is directly access a web service defined and
running in Jave EE 5 environment. Does Flash 8 support this type of
interoperability? Can anyone provide some hints on how to get this
    working?
    Thanks

    Hi Tom,
I've been running into the same problem, having JAX-WS
generating the WSDL for me and Flash telling me that it cannot
    consume the corresponding Web Service.
According to an article I found on the Developer Center site
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/flmxpro_webservices_03.html
), "Flash MX Professional 2004 does not support web services that
use the import tag". I haven't been able to find any reference that
indicates whether this has changed for Flash 8.
I tried to contact the author of the article (who is no
longer with Adobe), but so far she has ignored my attempts.
Our problem thus may lie in the Flash's inability to process
the import tag, although this has at least been part of the
    specification since WSDL 1.1.
There has been no mentioning of a true workaround for this:
the JAX-WS people don't offer an option to have the schema created
inline - and IMHO rightfully so. They hold their end of the deal
(generating a WSDL document that is valid according to the
standard) for which they used the most flexible option (it allows
for reuse of schemas between multiple WSDL definitions).
The only thing I guess you can do is manually inline the
separate XSD file(s) into the WSDL file and then feed it to
    Flash...
It is up to the Flash developers to fix this problem and have
their tool comply with the official W3C standards. It cannot be
that such a widely used tool renders itself obsolete by
disregarding interoperability with other widely used
    technologies...
Sorry I cannot be of more help. Seems I'm stuck with the same
problem for now as well...or maybe someone out there has better
    insights and helps us out?
    Grtz,
    Morris
