Stuttered scrolling and size changing

If I use the thumbnail size slide bar at the bottom right corner of iPhoto to change the view of either events or faces or photos within albums it is incredibly slow and stuttered, to the point of it taking several attempts to grab and slide the bar. Often the pinwheel/beachball will appear for a few seconds.
I've checked my activity log and my processor rises to 50%-75% during these attempts, but it does not appear maxed out such as when I'm video editing.
Also, just scrolling through events thumbnails is a bit stuttered until I've scrolled the full set (ie pulled them all into memory) and then its smooth.
Why is this? I have plenty of memory (3GB) most of which is currently free, a pretty quick processor 2.8ghz intel dual-co, and all the photos on my internal drive.
Is there a way I can increase the caching size that iPhoto can use?
I get really frustrated with slow/stuttered performance but maybe I'm just being to intolerant? I've posted a similar thread on iTunes which I am finding the same problem. I feel like I've got a pretty high end machine so this should all be silky smooth?
Any tips or help gratefully received.
Thanks,
Dan.

Rebuild the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the last option.
That can make a significant different in the load speed of iPhoto. You may have to redo it from time to time depending on how much work you do in Faces and Places.

Is there a way to have parallax scrolling and a changing slideshow? (so the slideshow looks still and it looks like you scroll your content over it again)

You can apply opacity to images or define key position for slideshow so that with page scroll the opacity changes and will bring the similar effect.

  • Batch font face and size change

    Hi everybody,
I'm looking to create a batch action/script the will select and change the font face and size in a series of .eps files of barcodes.
I'm not sure if it's a scripting thing because I've never scripted before.
If anyone could point me in the right direction or tell me how to do it (action or script)  I'd be very grateful.
(Each image contains the barcode and three text elements, all Helvetica 24pt which I want to change to OCRB 18.5pt, on about 120 images)

  • Color and size changed when upgraded to photoshop CS5

Hi, I created a flyer in an older version of photoshop and when I upgraded to CS5 the colors and print size changed. This is particularly distirbing b/c this is a flyer/advertisment for work that was almost at the final stage. They are quite small changes, but changes that need to be corrected just the same. The colors look different (duller) on the screen and in print while the size became smaller when I print (to pdf and the printer). My print settings are the same as before as are my color settings (CMYK). I am fairly new at creating flyers in photoshop, so I am hoping this is a simple fix. Thanks.

Are you 100% certain you are using the same color profiles throughout? That print size issue might be specific to your printer driver... CS5 has a completely rewritten print handling which may not correctly cooperate with your printer driver or conversely the driver might need to be updated...

  • Font and size changes  in design view  don't appear

I am using the trial version of Dreamweaver CS3 on my G5 Mac
(Leopard), and whenever I make changes to the font and font size,
it does not appear in the design- although the code is there (in
both the css that I create or specific to the paragraph) and then
it shows up when I save and go to browser. Is there some secret to
making the changes viewable as they are being made rather than
having to go to the browser every time before one can see them? It
doesn't seem very practical to only be able to view them in a
browser and not while you are making changes so you know if it is
what you want... can someone please help me with this? I'd like to
buy CS3, and use Dreamweaver, but it won't save me any time if I
have to keep going back to the browser before I can see the changes
    I've made.

How are you making the changes - using the properties box in
    CSS mode
    - or in an external style sheet.

  • How can I reset the font type and size on my email. It changed after I updated to Firefox 5.0 and I can't get it back.

After updating to Firefox 5.0 the font changed on my email. I checked, and the default setting is what I had put in before the update but it's not working. How can I get my email to use the font and type size that I chose? The one that's currently being used (since after the update) is so tiny one can hardly see it. My email program is through yahoo but there doesn't seem to be a way to change it at the email site. I'm not terribly PC savvy so please respond with a detailed/explicit answer. Thanks for any help you can give me with this. I have Windows XP and use Firefox as my browser.

Hi again...,,yes, I did try the "reset zoom" on the email compose message page and nothing happened. I'm not familiar with add-ons. Went to the address you suggested (DefaultFullZoomLevel) but don't know how to use it. Also, I don't want to enlarge the text on all web pages.....just the email page. By the way, if it makes a difference, I think I forgot to mention that I use AT&T/Yahoo webmail....not Outlook Express or Thunderbird or any other email program. I'm not familiar with those and don't want to change email programs. Thanks again for trying to help with this. I'm beginning to think this problem is "unfixable" and considering changing back to a previous edition of Firefox (IF that's even possible).

  • How to change the font and size in the fillable field of an encrypted PDF file?

    hi!
I’d like to change the font and size in the fillable field of an encrypted PDF file I-485 from www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485.pdf
I’m using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 in Windows XP. I firstly tried Adobe LiveCycle Designer, but the I-485 file requires password to be opened, which I don’t know.
Then I tried to print it to a PDF file, and use the Typewriter tool to fill in the form. But got error message while printing it to PDF file:
This PostScript file was created from an encrypted PDF file.
Redistilling encrypted PDF is not permitted.
The I-485 file can be exported to unencrypted postscript file, but got the same error message while trying to open the ps file.
I don’t know much about pdf file, can anyone please help?
    Thanks a lot!

Ask the creator of the file for a unprotected version.

  • I am not satisfied with the font and size of print that I set. How do I change it?

When I first set up Firefox on my desktop, I set the print size and font. I have found that it is too large and I really would like to change the font, also. I can't find a spot to do that. I might be looking right at it but don't realize it. Could you help me?

I can't remember what I did when I set the font and size of articles that I printed from the pages on Firefox. I just know that I tried something a few months ago and have not been happy with the settings that I made. I can't find anywhere to change those settings and have tried so many things but they do not change the look of the pages I print when I click print. I tried to see if I could change the settings but all it does is change portrait or landscape and margins...nothing about fonts or sizes. I am getting so frustrated even though I love Firefox.

  • Change Font and Size of Graph Annotations

Just learned a cool little trick from Christina Rogers about how to change the font and size of a graph annotation after I left a comment on her blog (if you are unsure how to create a graph annotation, check LabVIEW Help).
With the Cursor Legend selected, use the Font Dropdown on the toolbar to select the font you want for the annotation. Apparently, annotation and cursor text on the graph inherit the font of the Cursor Legend. If you do not like how the Cursor Legend looks after you have changed the font, you can make it invisible again (I have never shown the cursor legend in final UI products... and I have never used "Hobo Std" in final UI products...).

  • Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.

Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.
I opened a .dng image in LR and then opened it in the Develop module.  I clicked on Crop Overlay and then on the ‘As Shot’ drop down menu (the lock is closed) and cropped to 11 x 17 and clicked ‘Done’-.
I click Cntl-E and the image opens in CC.  There I click on Image > Image Size and the Image Size  is 13.288 inches by 20.533 inches.
Why does the image size change?
I believe there is a menu to control the size of the image and I've looked everywhere I can think of in LR and CC, I googled various descriptions and I checked two of Scott Kelby's books, but I just can't figure out how to keep the image a consistent size when moving between LR and CC.
    Help!...Please?

The penny will drop soon or maybe the cloud will lift.
In Lightroom all editing is undoable/nondestructive.
Hence a crop of 3x2 is not inches, centimetres, pixels or anything else. It is jst a ratio. When a file is exported, either to PS or disk, then the crop ratio has size determined in respect of pixels and inches or cms.
So my 6000x5000 pixel image I will crop to 3x2 that leaves (before exporting) a 6000x4000 file.
Now when exported it can be set to export at
100pixels per inch and will end up at 60x40" when printed.
200pixels per inch will end up at 30x20"
    300ppi will end at 20x13.3"
You will notice in the Crop Tool there are no size denominations such as inches or centimetres as an image file only has pixels and the determination of size is done through exporting or printing.
    Hope that helps somewhat..

  • Image size changes after saving and then reopening

I'm using CS6. For example I change the image size to a 4X6 and then save it. Then when I open the file it will be 7.5X5. What's the fix? Thanks for your time.

I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a Windows 7 - 64 bit system. I'm using the Image Size dialog box and saving the file as a 4X6 at 300 dpi from a psd file to a jpeg file. When I open the file it is 5X7.5 inches at 240 dpi. I've been playing with it and have just figured out that when I save the file as a psd file it stays the size I've created and it changes when I save as a jpeg file. This is change is recent. It's worked properly in the past. Thanks for your help.
