Styling individual words in scrolling text interaction Captivate 7

Does anybody know if it is possible to style only a portion of text that is being shown within the Captivate 7 scrolling text widget?
For example, at the moment if I select a word that I'd like to make bold the entire content of the text pane is made bold, same with italic and underline.
Any solution needs to be HTML5 compatible.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sreekanth,
It would definitely be useful if the styling worked properly, afterall, the options are shown in the editor so one can only think that it's a bug. I could even live with it if it accepted HTML markup.
Re: your question, I put together a basic test using the Scrolling Text Interaction populated with lorem ipsum text and it seems to work as desired.
I tested on Windows Vista Pro in Safari, IE9 and Chrome. I also tested on iPad running iOS7. I published in HTML5 only.
The only thing (other than the styling issue mentioned above) was that the text pane seems to sit about 20px lower in the published file than it does on the Captivate stage. Not ideal when laying out individual content screens but not the end of the world to have to nudge the pane up in my working file.

  • How to bold individual word in a text caption??

    Hi,
    I'm pretty familiar with Captivate 5, though there doesn't seem to be a way to bold or underline an individual word in a text caption. This is a basic feature in most programs.
    I did search help and the forums for this. It sounds like you can either bold the text of the entire caption, though not a single word.
    Help please...
    If this functionality doesn't exist, Adobe needs to add it in the next release.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi Dan
    Works for me. And it works like I would expect it to in Word or any other application.
    Select the text and press Ctrl+B to make it bold. Ctrl+U to make it underlined.

  • Is it possible to have a scrolling text field in a quiz slide?

    I'm trying to build a quiz, and there is too much text that I need to display for the question. Is there any way to implement a scroll-able text field in a quiz slide?

    I suppose you don't want to use the default question slides but are creating custom question slides? Which version do you use? Since CP7 there is a Scrolling Text Interaction that you could use, compatible with both SWF and  HTML output.

  • Creating Scrolling text panels in Indesign CS5 for Interactive SWF's

    Hi,
    Is it possible to do as it says in the title?
    I want to add some text panels and provide the ability to scroll through the text.
    It will be output to an Interactive SWF file online.
    Can this be done in Indesign CS5?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the updated information.
    I created a scrooling text box in Flash CS5 and created the swf, that works fine.
    Importing into Indesign CS5 isnt as straight forward as I expected?
    I get the SWF icon on the Indesign Page, but previewing or publishing only shows the SWF icon, no Scrolling Text box displays.
    Im ust add that if I click on the SWF icon the Text box displays, but I want it to display by default?
    Are there more steps I need to take?

  • How do I change the font of individual words in a JTextArea?

    Hey everybody! I just have a quick question about JTextArea. I have a JTextArea and I am trying to find out how I can go about changing the style of individual words. For example, the first 3 words could be bold, and the next 3 words could be blue. How would I go about doing this? I know it is possible to change the entire font style of the whole JTextArea, but I am looking to change only individual segments at a time.
    JTextArea area = new JTextArea();
    area.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(320,380));
    area.setLineWrap(true);
    area.setWrapStyleWord(true);
    //code to change the first 3 words bold
    //and the next 3 words blue (as an example)
    //would go hereThanks so much!

    Try using HTML:
    Set the text to:
    area.setText("<html>My <b>Text</b> Here</html>");
    and see if the word Text is in bold. If so, then you can go as far as you want using HTML tags to set bold, color, etc.

  • Reading words from a text file

    I have written code to store words in a text file. they appear in the text file as shown below.
    word1
    word2
    word3
    etc.
    I want to read each word individually and store them in an array. Im trying to do it using a BufferedReader but it doesn't seem to work. The code for reading the words is shown below. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    try
    FileReader reader = new FileReader("words.txt");
    BufferedReader bReader = new BufferedReader(reader);
    ArrayList words = new ArrayList();
    String line;
    while((line = bReader.readLine()) != null)
    line = bReader.readLine();
    words.add(line);
    bReader.close();
    catch (Exception e)
    System.err.println ("Error writing to file");
    }

    I think your code is wrong, because it Read two time from file,
    your code like....
    while((line = bReader.readLine()) != null)
    line = bReader.readLine();
    words.add(line);
    you have to change the above code like
    while((line = bReader.readLine()) != null)
    words.add(line);
    NOW ITS WORKING FINE,...........

  • Interactive Captivate simulations not working correctly in Presenter

    Hi,
    I'm looking for a fix for what appears to be a bug with
    importing interactive Captivate 2.0.0 (build 1177, originally a
    trial verson) files into Presenter 6.0.432 (in PowerPoint 2000 SP-3
    9.0.8952 on a Windows XP computer).
    The course works fine when I publish the Presenter file to My
    Computer, but doesn't work correctly when I publish to Adobe
    Connect (hosted version). What happens is that the interactive
    Captivate simulations are already done. (It seems like Presenter is
    somehow completing the simulations before the end user gets to
    those slides.)
    Each course I've created is approximately 40 slides in length
    with approximately eight Captivate demonstrations and eight
    Captivate simulations spread out through the course. (A few slides
    of content with voiceover, then a slide with a Captivate
    demonstration, then a slide with a Captivate simulation slide, etc.
    etc.)
    Captivate Project Preferences are set to:
    Advanced project compression
    508 compliance
    Compress compiled SWF file
    Publish Adobe Connect Enterprise metadata
    Captivate Publish settings are:
    (unchecked) Export HTML
    Flash Player 7
    I tried switching the Flash Version to Flash Player 8, but it
    didn't help at all, and instead caused an additional problem which
    was that the text entry part of the interactive simulations stopped
    working altogether.
    I'm inclined to think this is a problem with the Connect
    server (since the course runs fine when published to My Computer,
    just not when published to Adobe Connect), but suppose it could be
    a Captivate or Presenter issue. In any case, I'm open to whatever
    gets it fixed.
    Thanks,
    Ruth

    Thanks Art,
    I tried it, but it didn't help.
    Given TechNote #46b77621 (recommending people link to
    Captivate files rather than embed them in Presenter), and the
    problems I'm having, I'm starting to wonder if this is a known
    problem.
    If it is, it's a big one, as a major selling point of
    Presenter has been that you can embed Captivate files within the
    slides. Linking out to them would be a different experience for the
    end-user (and not as nice).
    Another problem is that the TechNote says text entries won't
    work in Captivate files embedded in Presenter (I have had some
    inconsistent issues with this). Serious feature problem if it's
    true. (As I'm sure you know, it's a very common aspect of computer
    training courses, which is what many people are using
    Presenter/Captivate for.)
    Hopefully this all gets sorted out sooner rather than later.
    (Or you never know, perhaps, hopefully, there's just something I'm
    missing. :))
    Thanks,
    Ruth

  • Counting words in a text widget

    Hi,
    Is there a way I can count the number of words in a text box widget?  I realise that means counting the number of words in the attached variable - but can I do this?
    I have tried playing with Javascript (about which I know nothing)
    I put the script below into the script window for a button, but nothing seems to happen!
    Test=Q5WidgetAnswer.split(" ").length-1;
    document.write(Test);
    I want to check for three words in an answer and if there are only two, or four, warn that there are Three answers.
    Would be grateful for any help!

    After much heartache I solved the issue.
    The code needed to be as follows:
    var objCP = document.Captivate;
    var Answer = objCP.cpEIGetValue('WidgetAnswer');
    var Words;
    if(Answer ==  ''){   /* tests for empty answer */
      Words=0;
    alert("Fred")
    else {
    Words = Answer.replace(/[^ ]/g,'').length+1;    /* counts the number of spaces in answer */
    Where objCP can be any name you want, and cpEISetValue and cpEIGetValue are special Captivate functions
    /* and */ enclose a comment

  • Flicker on Scrolling Text

    I have a problem with flicker on scrolling text in a movie after the DVD has been burned (on the computer monitor or TV it doesn't matter). Before burning but after encoding, the movie plays the MPEG file fine with no flicker. Even with DVDSP simulation there is no flicker. DVD is doing something to the movie when burning. What could that be?
    The movie was encoded and burned all with up-to-date Apple software. The text is san-serif and plenty large enough.
    Thank you,
    Phil

    Yeah, I know what you mean.
    You using the Scrolling Text from FCP or in Live Type?
    My experiences using Scrolling Text from Video Generators>Text>Scrolling Text from FCP hasn't been too great. To minimize the flicker, I drop a de-interlace filter on the text, and that seems to help a bit.
    Another thing that I do is keyframe individual texts (created in either FCP or Live Type), and fake the scroll that way. FCP or Motion can do this.
    And I've been wanting to try this, but haven't yet. Create a Photoshop document with the dimensions of the width of the video screen (720 Pixels Wide for DV) and make it as long as it needs to be. Be sure to have a transparent background, and begin laying out the text as you want it. then import it into FCP. Keyframe the .psd to make it scroll how you want it.
    Don't know if those will help, but those are things that I do.

  • Creating scrolling text on an iWeb page

    I came across Old Toad's Test site and was suitably impressed by the enhancements detailed on his home page. (I did not post the link as I did not want to breach any confidentiality).
    Q) How do I get scrolling text on an iweb page? By way of an experiment, I have copied the html code from old toads site into a html widget and then selected apply however the text simply displays, it does not scroll.
    I have no html experience apart from cutting and pasting code into the widget box and then selecting apply. What am I doing wrong, please can anyone help? Thanks

    The scrolling box is on this demo page. As I mentioned it will work with a text, pdf and Word document. I've not been able to get an rtf document to display nor a Pages document. But you can create pdf files from each of those applications and use the pdf version.
    If you can live with the default text that comes with using a .txt file it will not have toolbar at the top that a Word or PDF document will and be a lot cleaner. There may be a way to set the font to be displayed in the page but it can't be done in the text document itself. I've not figured out how do to that as yet.

  • How can I format individual words in a TabbedPanel2 tab?

    It seems that HTML tags are ignored in a SpryTabbedPanels2 tab. I know how to put a background image in via css, but I cannot then align the text to the bottom of the tab, so I cannot fake a large first word with an image. I would like to:
    1/ Be able to format individual words in the tab
    2/ Insert images anywhere in the tab (like you could in the old TabbedPanel)
    3/ Insert breaks <br> in the tab (like you could in the old TabbedPanel)
    4/ Align text within the tab.
    I realise there are four questions here, but they all seem very related to me and hopefully with have either one or four tightly related answers.
    Many thanks
    Jeremy

    You have probably also noticed that
    <div id="TabbedPanels2">
      <h2>Tab 1</h2>
    changes to
    <div class="TabbedPanels" id="TabbedPanels2">
        <div class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
        <div class="TabbedPanelsTab TabbedPanelsTabFirst PanelSelectorButtonUnselected">
          <a href="#">Tab 1</a>
        </div>
        <div class="TabbedPanelsTab PanelSelectorButtonUnselected">
            <a href="#">Tab 2</a>
        </div><div class="TabbedPanelsTab TabbedPanelsTabLast TabbedPanelsTabSelected">
            <a href="#">Tab 3</a>
        </div>
      </div>
      <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup">
          <div class="TabbedPanelsContent PanelHidden" style="display: none; ">
            <h2 style="display: none; ">Tab 1</h2>
    once it has been through the JS mill.
    My thoughts, although the original version may seem a little bloated, it is robust and easy to customise. Version 2 is slightly more agile and has a few more features, but is an ugly beast when it comes to customisation. In fact the two versions, apart from the Spry name, bear no resemblence to each other.
    I have stuck with the original version as I have done with the menubar.

  • Scrolling text inside INDEX

    Hello,
    I'm trying to optimize my company's website (SEO), and I compared with other company website, and they were able to put scrolling text, but a kind of scrolling text that if you see source code, all the text it's the index, so it's perfect for google indexation....
    I tried to do the same, but the maximun I was able was to use Jquery... (which the text is in different file).  So, with the other company they can put in their text good keywords and google redirects there (they are 2nd in our business page rank for google), and with my method google can't find any keywords in my index.
    So, this is how I have:
    http://www.sigrh.pt  (check in right side, close to footer)
    This how other company have:
    http://www.egor.pt/
    If you check source code from both, you see that my text it's not there (because its on different file), and they were able to do it... how?
    Thank you!

    Ok, let me try to explain better what I want.
    if I go to:
    http://www.keyworddensity.com/
    And compare both sites, they have for example the keyword "Outsourcing" repeated over 40 times. Because they have that simpletabs scrolling.
    If you check our site, just some of them, because our scrolling text it's on a different file, not in index.
    If you check EGOR main page source code, you will see all the text from all the tabs there, hidden, and just show when it's her turn to show. All in one single file.
    If you check our source code, you just find the code/script/javascript (don't know the right expression) and not the text that will show in main page, because it's on different file.
    So, basically what I want is to be able to write in index.php (for example) 40 times the word "Outsourcing" , 40 times the word "Coaching" ,etc... like EGOR have!
    I've wrote in my jquery like 15 times each work, and everytime I compare with egor those words never show up counted because they are not in my index.php, but in other file!

  • Editing scrolling text

    hi on earth do we make a decent scrolling title with the tools given to us with FCP? I use fcp's "scrolling text" and it looks fine. BUT i can't change individual lines to a different color - it changes all the color. ie i have white scrolling text and i need one line to be yellow so i change it and it changes the whole page to yellow.
    I tried the onboard boris titler and i can edit individual lines with diff color, font etc BUT the text scrolls jittery even with the deflicker turn ON. I've never been able to get boris to work for me on scrolling text. And yes, i'm looking at it on a studio HD monitor (pana 17") SDI with an hd timeline.
    thanks for any input.

    If you have FCS2, then your best bet might be to use Motion.
    Quoting ThatChineesYouth:
    Type up your credits in Text editor... spaces and paragraphs as necessary.
    In motion, select the text tool and click in the canvas. Then copy and paste the text
    into the text box.. then Add Behavior>Text Animations>Scroll up.
    then adjust the position off set till the text is off screen to the bottom...
    then go to the end time and adjust the rate till your text has scrolled up off screen...
    and there you have it... I think -_-'
