Sub Site Creation fails (works, but access is denied + autodelete)

Hello,
we have an upgraded from 2010 Sharepoint Sharepoint 2013 site, and i believe, since i pressed the "make it 2013" Button, normal users cannot create sub sites anymore.
As an Admin, i can do this.
As you can see in the Logfiles, the Site is created, then comes an access denied error, and the site is deleted automatically.
Please give me Input where to debug further ?

  • MySite Host Site Collection "Site Settings" Menu and sub-site creation

Seemingly by design, users are able to create sub-sites on the MySite Host site collection when the configuration instructions here are followed: Configure My Sites in
    SharePoint Server 2013
To be a little clearer, as instructed, I've created and applied a subsite-creation user policy to the web application hosting the MySite host. Presumably, this enables sub-site creation in personal MySite site collections. Perfect.
Except... this also enables creation of subsites on the MySite host itself.
If a (non-administrative) user clicks the cog from the Newsfeed page, the scope is the MySite host.
The "site settings" link leads to the site settings of the MySite host.
There, in the  "Sites Administration" section is "Sites and Workspaces".
...and there, is the option to create a new sub-site at https://my.contoso.net/. -_-
How might I avoid this undesirable state of affairs? I would like to give users the ability to create sub-sites in their own MySites, but not on the MySite host via the Newsfeed page. Is this possible?
    I think I can. I think I can.

This is definitely possible - So you enabled self-service site creation in Central Admin per the configuration instructions. Did you also create a user policy on the web application?
In my tenant non-admins do not have access to click site settings on the mysite host (They can click site contents, which redirects to the personal site collection). Also, they do have access to click site settings on the personal mysite site collection
    though.

I did some testing and figured it out, I think. Mind you everything worked properly, users just had access I didn't want them to.
I did enable self-service site creation, and I created the user policy on the web application as per the instructions. I then discovered users had access to site settings on the Newsfeed page: https://my.contoso.com/default.aspx
The only site setting they had access to was subsite creation: https://my.contoso.com/_layouts/15/newsbweb.aspx , but I didn't want them to be able to create subsites on the host, just in their personal collections.
Deleting that user policy removed their access to subsite creation on the host, and still allowed self-service site creation, and the creation of subsites in personal collections, so the question now is:
Why are we being directed to create that user policy in the first place, when it doesn't appear to affect personal sites at all?
    I think I can. I think I can.

  • My Site creation failing

Hi all, I'm sure this is something someone has experienced before but I'm struggling to solve a problem I have with Personal Site Creation. This was working absolutely fine when the farm was initially built but stopped some time around the introduction of
a "branding" solution that relied on feature stapling - I have now retracted that solution and stapling to get back to normal but the issue persists.
Ultimately, the issue centres around the simple fact that a users' My Site is never created. Their User Profile shows SPSITEERROR and capabilities of "0" and never resolves itself. I have of course attempted to delete the SPSITEERROR entry and
increase the capabilities value to 14 but this has had no effect.
After doing this, monitoring the ULS logs shows what I expect to be the normal activity of site creation but ultimately results in an error as shown below. Lines 2 and 3 seem to be the most pertinent.
The user does not currently have a My Site, so there is no conflict and nothing to delete or remove. It isn't a problem with the User Profile Sync service since that is synchronising and updating profiles as expected. There is a root site collection (as
mentioned, My Site creation worked fine when the farm was built and for a while afterward) so it isn't that either. I have attempted to manually start the My Site instantiation jobs but this didn't resolve and they aren't stuck. I have also removed and re-created
the My Site instantiation jobs for the web application without effect. I'm unable to resolve this issue seemingly without further assistance.

Thanks for the reply Rahul. As mentioned, the users' personal site url all state SPSITEERROR. I have removed this manually and tried again but it re-appears.
Having looked through the timer jobs using the following PowerShell, none have failed with an error.
    $Wa = Get-SPWebApplication "http://webapp.domain.tld"
    $Wa.JobHistoryEntries | Where-Object {$_.Status -ne "Succeeded"}
    Thanks
    Lewis

  • The group policy client service failed the logon access is denied.

This one is starting to get on my nerves now. We've had 2 users suffering this problem on our Remote Desktop server.
We are running two Windows Server 2008 SP2 domain controllers, with two Windows 2008 R2 servers running RD Gateway and Remote Desktop Server.
The first user I had to recreate because of following instructions I googled because it caused the user to always logon with a temporary profile on the server and I could not resolve this.
This user I have managed to cleanly delete the local logon profile.
BOTH of these users are on roaming profiles, as are most of the users that are logging in to this server (for reasons that they move around the office). On the server, the user is listed twice one with a .v2 extension (XP machines at desks)
The user we are having a problem with at the moment was working perfectly fine a couple of weeks ago when they last logged into the server.
Could this be down to me setting an over ride on the settings that force people to logout completely after an hour of idle time, resulting in an unclean logoff?
Some of the messages that are in the event log for when that user attempts to login:
    Event id: 1542
Windows cannot load classes registry file.
DETAIL - The system cannot find the file specified.
    Event ID: 6001
The winlogon notification subscriber <Sens> failed a notification event.
    Event ID: 6004
The winlogon notification subscriber <GPClient> failed a critical notification event.
I'm also getting a constant batch of
    Event ID: 510
Folder redirection policy application has been delayed until the next logon because the group policy logon optimization is in effect
Any ideas why this should happen? I need a solution as soon as possible please as these users are running our sales department from home, and this user is due to be on the rota to do it this week! :)

  • Error Message when logging on "The Group Policy Client service failed the logon. Access is denied"

Since the move to Windows 7 we have started getting this error above when people login at random times and on random machines, at first we thought it was only a select few users, but now it seems to have occurred to about 20 different Staff members working
at the school. Also of those 20 odd users it has happened to them on a few occasions.
    What we know
We know this problem is only occurring to staff with Roaming Profiles, it seems like somehow the profile is not Synchronizing with the Servers File Share that houses the profiles, which causes the NTUSER.DAT file to become corrupt and go from being around
2 – 3 MBs to 256KB (In all cases where a user has had this issue there NTUSER.DAT file has been 256KB)
    Current Resolution to the problem
When a staff member contact us with this problem, we fortunately have Previous Versions working on the profiles folder on the server, so we are able to restore their NTUSER.DAT file from 1 to 2 days before it became corrupt, which then seems to allow them
    to log on fine
What we have tried so far & suggested so far
After some research on Google, we found the following thread on EduGeek
    http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/78733-windows-7-user-profile-failed-error-again.html#post700415
Which suggested that the problem may lay within registry, so we implemented the Script that was posted on the website, however this has not seemed to make any difference
In the early stages when only 5 – 10 staff seemed to be having the problem, we believed the issue could be with just certain AD accounts. It had not seemed to happen to any recently created AD accounts so we thought it could be a corrupt attribute on
the user so we delete one of the staff AD accounts that had the problem and creating a brand new one, however within about 2 – 3 weeks that staff member had the issue occur again
Leading on from point two, we also thought the problem could be with people using multiple computers, logging on in 2 places and not logging off properly, but unfortunately the staff member referred to in point 2 only uses the one computer in reception.
Another potential cause that we figured might be the route of the problem, was it could be specific computers that are not communicating properly with the server, which could be causing this problem to occur, but we have no real way of testing this,
as the staff generally log onto 3 – 4 different computers throughout the day and in different location
We log a call with EE and they just pointed us to various websites that we had already checked and wasn’t much help.
    In Summary
This error has now occurred with about 20 members of staff, we currently only use Windows 7 at our Senior School & Moving to Windows 7 at our Prep School in the Summer
holidays, we would like to find out the route of this problem ideally before then, as we could potentially be doubling the amount of staff with the problem after the move. Has anyone else seen this problem or have a brain wave on how to solve it?
    Regards
    Andy

  • SharePoint 2013 permissions on the sub-site/list/library level

    Hello,
I would like to understand how access works on SP 2013 restricted sub-sites and the restricted list/libraries (by permissions) stored on the restricted (by permisssions) sub-sites.
I've created a teamsite in SP 2013, with the sub-sites and libraries accessible to everyone and the restricted sub-sites with access rights only to the team (group)
Under the restricted sub-sites I created the restricted libraries, access rights only to the team.
Please help me to understand, how it comes, if someone tries to access the restricted teamsite by the link (URL directly to the restricted sub-site(s), they imediatelly get an "Access Request" note, but when they try to access the restricted list/library
stored in the restricted site by the link (URL directly to the restricted list/library), they can open the link, see the library title and no content in it. Which is good thing they cannot see the content in the restricted library, but I thought they would
NOT be able to open the library link at all.
See my examples with the screenshots.
if accessed by a link to a restricted library on a resricted site (no permissions granted)
if accessed by a link to the restricted site (no permissions granted)
Is that by design? I thought people without the permission could not open that restricted library/list link at all, and would be prompted for an access request?
Or is it different for accessing directly the restricted the site vs. restricted library/list on the restricted site by the link?
    Thanks
    Dovile
P.S. I've double checked the permisssions on the restricted sub-sites and restricted libraries/lists and ensure inheritence from the site collection is broken. And double checked teh restricted libraries/lists
are stored under the restricted sub-sites.

I am sorry, but it looks like you do not understand my question....
I know how to check the unique permisssions and I've done that.
    My question is:
why accessing the restricted site by the link you get notification to request an access to that site, but when accessing the  restricted library located on the restricted site by the link, you can open the library link, even though you cannot see the content.
Why for the access to the restricted library located on the restricted site there is no "Access Request"?
I thought once you create a restricted library/list with the unique permissions, anyone who is accessing that library by the link (maybe folk found thet link on SP or the link was shared by someone) they would get a notification that they are trying to access
the restricted library (like it is for a restricted/limited acess site) and would need to request an access to it, if needed. Otherwise you land on the library (you do not know whether it is restricted/limited access or not) and see no documents in there and
have no clue why it is empty...(see my earlier screenshots)
    Is that by design?

I downloaded the driver from the apple sit. the printer works but I can't scan. It says I need to enable the scanner. Any recommendation?

I would suggest asking HP, but have you tried scanning with Image Capture or with the Scan utility in Print & Scan system prefs?

  • Group Policy client Service Error - Access is denied

    I am
at domain admin working on windows 7 roaming profiles, testing with a
staff user.  I am in a domain environment.  I have changed the
profile path for a user to the folder I created for new windows 7 roaming
profiles.  gave it all the permissions noted here and followed these steps
at Microsoft's deploying roaming profiles page for win 7.<o:p></o:p>
once I logged in the user,
it created their profile.v2 but I still couldn't access it.  getting
access denied.  so I went back and changed the staff roaming profile back
to the original profile path.  didn't make any group policy changes.
but now she gets group policy client service failed to logon. access is
denied.  I have deleted the .v2 profile that win 7 creates in her old
profile path, moved her profile path back to what is was before testing,
retested her xp profile which does work and she can login and work.
but the win 7 machines no matter where she logs in, will not work.  they
all give the same error about group policy client service failed.  no
other users are having this problem

    Hi,
Regarding the issue here, have you checked the below thread?
    Group
Policy Client Service Failed the logon - Access Denied: Windows 7 Ultimate/Server 2008 R2
Please take a try with the steps mentioned by Nina Liu.
    QUOTE here:
At this time, let’s refer to the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Open registry editor on the problematic Windows 7 machine (please log in as domain admin)
    2. Highlight HKEY_USERS, choose File -> Load Hive, browse to the location of one failing roaming profile and open NTUSER.DAT file, click open
    3. Under Key Name, enter any name you like, but remember what you have entered, such as enter "test"
    4. Expand, HKEY_USERS, you should see new registry hive called "test" or any name you entered earlier
    5. Right click on that "test" hive and choose permissions. Confirm that the following users have permissions:
    - Administrators: Full Control
    - SYSTEM: Full Control
    - User (or group) that owns this profile: Full Control
    6. If the permissions were wrong, correct them, then click on Advanced tab, on Advanced tab and enable "Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries
shown here that apply to child objects" and click Apply.
    7. Highlight "test" registry hive, then click on File -> Unload Hive to release handle on NTUSER.DAT file.
    8. Log off and log on with the failing roaming profile you have just modified.
Any process, please feel free to contact us.
    Best regards

  • The Deploy Software Updates Wizard completed with errors - Access is Denied

Hello, I am trying to download some updates that were synced up to the SCCM's database from another WSUS server. I am not able to get it done because the wizard fails with the access is denied error. I checked patchdownloader.log file and saw Error code
= 5  which means access denied. I tried to change permissions on the "updateservicespackages" folder within the folder, and I have full NTFS permissions for system, administrators, and read only permissions for everyone. Same thing goes for
the share permissions. My account is in the administrators group. The only way I can get it to work is by granting full permissions to "everyone", but that cannot be security friendly. Which account is "Deploy Software Updates Wizard" using
so that I can properly give it the required rights?

    Hi,
You could have a look at the thread below. Lucas used ProcMon that shows an access denied with the user which he was using.  Permission via group wasn't enough. Give your user full share/security access and everything works fine.

WHY CAN'T I GET MY MAIL, I GET A MESSAGE 'CONNECTION TO SERVER FAILED" BUT I CAN GET ON ALL OTHER WEB SITES.  IT WORKED FINE UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH AGO.  I CANCELLED MY ACCOUNT, PUT MY INFO IN AGAIN AND STILL GET THE MESSAGE "CONNECTION TO SERVER FAILED"  HELP PLEASE!

have you tried removing and readding the e-mail account? sometimes settings get corrupted or changed on the server end...something computers can sometimes handle better than the mail interface.
